Chapter 54

Magnus' POV

I've noticed Vanna's silence. She hasn't said a word since we walked along the beach, and after that, we returned to the villa. The heavy rain seems imminent as we can already feel the cold, strong wind.

I check the window and see raindrops falling outside. Vanna is on the couch, reading a book. It's past eight, but we still can't sleep.

I decide to sit beside her; maybe we need to discuss our new plans here in Hawaii.

"Hon," I stroke her arm and pull her into a tight embrace. That's when I realize she's silently crying.

"W-what's wrong?" I ask her, looking into her eyes. I gently caress her cheek and speak to her.

"What's wrong, hon? What's the problem?"

"Nothing..."

"B-but why are you crying?"

"I said I'm fine..."

"No. You're not. You're breaking down, and I don't know what's going on with you. What should I do?"
