His Dreams

Dark. It’s too dark. Everywhere he sees, it’s pitch black.

A cold wind is whooshing by as he walks through the darkness. There’s nothing ahead but his feet won’t stop moving. His heart is thumping hard and he slowly makes his way through the blinding abyss in front of him.

“You…” He quickly turns around and yelps. A beautiful, dark haired woman in her fifties is standing there, looking directly at him. Troy cowers away from the woman who’s emitting a pearly glow. He can never forget her face. She looks the same even in death.

“You murderer…” she whispers.

“No…” He says. “It wasn’t me! I didn’t-”

“You know…you know…you… murderer…”

The woman is repeating the same phrase over and over again. She’s inching toward him, determined to make him pay for his sin. Troy is shaking in fear and guilt. Fear that she’ll expose his biggest secret. Guilt because he’s a sinner.

“It wasn’t me!” he claims. “You know it!”

“You…know…”
