Mia

I didn’t see it coming. In one swift movement, I was pinned against the wall, his hand clamped tightly around my neck. Panic surged through me as I clawed at his hand, gasping for air.

“Please,” I rasped, my voice hoarse and weak. “Please, I can’t breathe.”

His grip didn’t falter. His eyes bore into mine, dark and merciless, as if he was toying with the idea of crushing the life out of me. My chest burned, my vision blurred, and I could feel the tears streaming down my face.

I couldn’t think straight.

Was this it? Was he really going to kill me for slapping him? Why did I even have to slap him in the first place? I’m just so dumb and annoying! I shouldn’t have done it!

My strength waned, and I was on the verge of passing out when the sharp sound of a ringing phone broke through the suffocating silence. His hold loosened just enough for me to drag in a ragged breath, my lungs greedily gulping the air.

He glanced at the phone, but his attention quickly returned to me. His gaze was cold, calculating, like a predator deciding whether its prey was worth sparing.

“Listen to me carefully,” he said, his voice low and venomous. “The next time you dare to lay your filthy hands on me, I’ll make sure you never use them again. Understand?”

I nodded frantically, my entire body trembling.

“I don’t care about you,” he continued, his tone as sharp as a blade. “I could end your life right now, and no one would bat an eye. You mean nothing to me.”

With that, he released me. I collapsed to the floor, coughing violently and clutching my neck. My entire body shook as I tried to catch my breath.

He turned away from me, casually walking to the bed to answer his phone as if nothing had happened. I sat there, still gasping, my mind racing.

Who was this man? How could someone be so cruel, so unfeeling? I didn’t understand any of this. Why had my father brought me here? Why had he handed me over to a monster?

I glanced at him as he spoke on the phone, his back turned to me. He looked completely calm, detached, like choking someone was just another part of his day.

I needed to get out of here, but how? I was sure those men at the door wouldn’t let me leave. And even if I could, where would I go? My father had abandoned me to this… this beast.

Tears blurred my vision again as the weight of my situation pressed down on me.

Bryan

I stared at the phone in my hand, frowning when I saw the caller ID. Mom. What could she possibly want now? Hope this isn’t one of her annoying games…

With a sigh, I reluctantly answered the call. “Yes, Mom?”

“Bryan, where are you?” she demanded, her tone sharp and impatient.

“At one of my properties,” I replied, keeping my voice flat. I didn’t have the patience for her dramas and most especially, her wanting to probably see me.

“You need to come home immediately. There’s something important we need to discuss,” she said.

“Important?” I asked, arching a brow even though she couldn’t see me. “What’s this about?” I asked, knowing my mom something important was never important.

“It’s about your future,” she said cryptically.

I sighed again, already annoyed. Mom had a way of making everything seem urgent, even when it wasn’t. Still, I knew better than to ignore her completely.

“Fine. I’ll be there soon,” I said, ending the call before she could respond.

I slipped the phone into my pocket and turned back to the girl. Mia. She was still here, sitting on the floor with tears streaking her face. She looked terrified and small, like a bird with broken wings.

“Rex!” I called out, and the door opened almost immediately. My men were always close, always ready.

“Yes, Lord Bryan?” Rex said, bowing slightly as he stepped into the room.

“Take her to the room next to mine,” I ordered, gesturing toward Mia. “Have the maids clean her up and bring her something to eat. Make sure she doesn’t leave.”

“Yes, sir,” Rex said with a nod.

I turned to leave, but her voice stopped me.

“I’m not going anywhere until you tell me why I’m here,” she said, her voice trembling but defiant. “You can’t just treat me like this! I’m not some… some thing you can order around!”

I slowly turned back to her, my expression hardening. Did she have any idea who she was talking to?

“Don’t test me,” I said, my voice low and dangerous. “If you value your life, you’ll do as you’re told. I don’t tolerate disobedience, and I have no problem making an example out of you.”

Her defiance wavered, and I saw the fear return to her eyes. She bit her lip, tears spilling over as she looked away.

“Now, go,” I said firmly.

Rex stepped forward, motioning for her to follow him. This time, she didn’t resist.

I didn’t wait to see them leave. My patience was already wearing thin, and I had more important matters to deal with.

As I walked through the hallway, my men fell into step behind me. The staff bowed their heads as I passed, but I ignored them. I wasn’t in the mood for pleasantries.

I handed the keys to my Bugatti to my driver and slid into the back seat. The car roared to life, and I leaned back, letting the smooth hum of the engine calm my nerves.

“To the Chap mansion,” I said curtly.

The driver nodded, and the car sped off. Whatever my mother wanted, it had better be worth the interruption.

Mrs. Johnson Chapman “Alicia, are the meals ready yet? Bryan will be here any moment, and you know how he gets when he’s hungry,” I asked the head cook, who’d been with our family for over ten years. Her once jet-black hair was streaked with gray now, showing how much time had passed.“Oh yes, Mrs. Johnson. The table is all set,” Alicia replied with a warm smile.“Good. Once he arrives, send a maid to fetch me immediately,” I instructed, sitting on the edge of my bed with my phone in hand.“Yes, ma’am,” she said, bowing slightly before walking out of the room.I couldn’t help but feel a little anxious. Bryan hadn’t been home for months, and with each passing day, his father grew more impatient. Bryan Gosh, my mom can be so annoying. Sending a girl I know nothing about to my mansion? That’s not happening. I don’t care what games she’s trying to play, but there’s no way I’m getting married to some random woman. Who the hell does that? Was marriage some sort of joke or something? Damn them all. It’s never happening and I’m going to make sure of that!“Philip,” I called out immediately, taking the first step of putting a stop to every one of their plots.I’m not some baby to be shoved around by his parents. If only they knew what I’m currently made of, they would stop pestering me for some family inheritance and shove it down Dave’s throat in a hurry.Philip, my best bodyguard, always rode in the car with me. The other four followed behind in another car. Due to my call to him, He turned slightly from the front passenger seat, giving me his full attention.“Yes, Lord,” he replied, respectful as always.“Switch on my other phone and turn this one off,” I ordered, ha

Mia“Miss, Miss, please wake up. It’s morning already.”I groaned softly as the maid’s voice tugged me out of my peaceful sleep. For the first time in forever, I’d slept like a baby. The mattress beneath me felt like clouds, and the pillow cradled my head in perfect comfort.“Uhm, good morning,” I mumbled groggily, rubbing my eyes and stretching my arms. The maid stood patiently, giving me a small nod. “You need to have your bath now, Miss,” she said, walking toward the bathroom.I frowned at her words, still a little disoriented. Do they really expect me to get used to this? For them bathing me or more? Never!“Wait, are you going to run the bath for me or something? Perhaps, bath me up again today like I’m some little disabled child, huh?” I asked, a hint of sarcasm in my voice. She didn’t answer, instead she disappeared into the bathroom leaving me in awe, staring at the door intently. A moment later, I heard the sound of running water. This is so Unbelievable and unaccep

Mia’s POV I flinched, stepping back instinctively as his cold, piercing eyes bore into mine. The weight of his gaze pinned me to the spot, and my heart raced erratically. I tried to look away, my eyes darting to the floor, but the tension in the room was suffocating. I felt a wave of panic rise within me, and for a fleeting moment, I wished I could disappear—or at least melt into the floor. Why did I enter his room? Why didn’t I just admire the trophies from afar? My knees wobbled as I anticipated an outburst, but he said nothing. Instead, his silence felt more dangerous than anything else he could’ve done. “Philip!” His voice, cold and commanding, shattered the silence, sending a shiver down my spine. I blinked, confused. Why is he calling Philip? Is it to clean up the mess I made? Philip entered the room almost immediately, his expression neutral, though his eyes betrayed a hint of pity as they flicked toward me. “Yes, Lord Bryan,” Philip replied, bowing slightl

Bryan’s POVI clenched my fists, barely containing my frustration. Gosh, this woman is relentless.I thought switching off my phone would keep her at bay, but no—here she was, standing in my house uninvited.“Come on, Bryan, there’s no need to ask how I found your address,” my mother said, her tone too cheerful for my liking.“The important thing is that we’re here now, right, Fiona?”She nudged the woman standing beside her—the same irritating, overly made-up woman she was pushing as my so-called future wife.Fiona smiled coyly, and I suppressed a groan.Of all the women in the world, my mother had to choose this one. Her persistence was grating, but I wasn’t about to let her win.“Listen, I don’t—”“Later, son,” my mother interrupted, waving dismissively.“Why don’t you two spend some time together? I’ll just be outside admiring my son’s beautiful mansion.”With that, she nudged Fiona toward me and left the room, clearly satisfied with herself.I scowled after her retreating figure,

What on earth caused the fight?” She abandoned the sink, quickly turning on the gas to heat some water. Her hands moved fast, but her eyes kept darting back to my bruised face, filled with both concern and disbelief.I narrowed my eyes at her, my lips tightening into a sneer.“You and Dad caused this,” I snapped coldly.“If you had given me to that rich dude, we would be swimming in money by now. Mia stood in front of the full-length mirror, smoothing her hands over the wedding gown that hugged her body perfectly. She still couldn’t believe this was happening—her wedding to Lord Bryan.Mrs. Johnson, Bryan’s mother, stood beside her, admiration shining in her eyes. “You look breathtaking, my dear. This dress was made for you.”Mia bit her lip, turning slightly to examine the intricate lace details cascading down her back. “You really think so?”Mrs. Johnson chuckled. “Oh, absolutely. And trust me, my son won’t be able to take his eyes off you.”Mia blushed, warmth flooding her cheeks. After all these years, Bryan still had that effect on her. The way he looked at her, touched her, made her feel like the most precious thing in the world.Just then, the boutique door opened, and Clara, Mia’s best friend for three years, came rushing in. They had met at the supermarket and became friends after bumping into each other and their groceries spilling over.“Mia! You have to see the c

The night was heavy with tension as Bryan led his men into the underground tunnels beneath the city. The air was damp, filled with the scent of oil, metal, and the distant echo of dripping water. The dim glow of scattered lanterns barely illuminated their path, casting long shadows against the cold stone walls. This was a place only the most dangerous men knew existed—a world beneath the world, ruled by those who thrived in darkness.Philip walked beside Bryan, his gun in his grip, eyes scanning every corner. They weren’t alone. Figures emerged from the shadows—men with scarred faces and dead eyes, members of the underground mafia. They moved silently, their presence heavy with menace.A tall man with a thick beard and a jagged scar across his cheek stepped forward. His voice was low, gravelly.“Lord Bryan,” he acknowledged. “You don’t come here unless it’s war.” He says with a small smirk playing on his lips.Bryan’s jaw tightened. “It is. There’s war!”The man smirked, revealin

The mansion stood eerily silent as the black SUVs pulled up to the entrance. The gates were wide open, the security system disabled. Something was wrong.Bryan’s heart pounded violently against his ribcage as he pushed the door open and stepped out of the car. Philip was right behind him, his gun already drawn. The driveway was littered with bodies—his men, the people who had sworn to protect his home. Some lay motionless, while others groaned in pain, their hands pressed against gunshot wounds. Blood stained the marble steps leading to the grand entrance.Bryan’s breath came in short, sharp bursts. His mind screamed at him to move, to find Mia and his mother, but his legs felt frozen. His worst nightmare had come true.Philip crouched beside one of the wounded guards, gripping his shoulder. “What happened? Where are they?”The man coughed, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. “They… they came out of nowhere. We thought it was just another security check, but then… then

Bryan stood frozen, his body rigid as the zipped-up body bags were carried away. His mind refused to process the reality before him. Lincoln. Raymond. Gone. The weight of it was suffocating. His pulse thundered in his ears, drowning out the frantic voices around him.Philip’s grip on his arm tightened. “ lord Bryan.” His voice was steady, but there was an urgency behind it. “We need to move.”Bryan couldn’t move. His legs felt cemented to the ground.“Lord Bryan,” Philip said again, firmer this time. “We don’t have time. The people who did this are still out there.”That snapped him out of his trance. He turned sharply, his entire body going rigid. The women—they were gone. He scanned the crowd, searching for any sign of them, but it was as if they had vanished into thin air.His fists clenched. “Where are they?”Philip exhaled sharply. “They slipped out the moment this happened.”Bryan’s chest burned. This wasn’t random. It wasn’t an accident. It was a message. His phone buzzed in

The ride back to the hotel was suffocating. The silence inside the van was thick, pressing down on everyone like a heavy weight. Bryan sat at the back, his jaw clenched so tightly it hurt. His pulse was still erratic, his hands curled into fists on his lap. Every time he blinked, flashes of what had just happened replayed in his mind—the gunshots, the chaos, the panic. It wasn’t something new to him, but then, he was never expecting it at his concert.Philip was in the front seat, his sharp eyes scanning the streets through the windshield. Lincoln and Raymond sat across from Bryan, their usual easygoing demeanor nowhere in sight. Instead, they were both staring blankly, lost in their thoughts.Nobody spoke. When the van finally pulled up in front of the hotel, security was already waiting. The guards were on high alert, their gazes sweeping the area for any signs of trouble. As Bryan stepped out, he exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair. The grandeur of the hotel—its

Bryan stepped out of the elevator and into the grand hotel lobby, adjusting his jacket as he walked toward the entrance. The space was buzzing with soft music, elegant chandeliers casting a golden glow over the pristine marble floor. His eyes immediately landed on Lincoln and Raymond, who were already waiting with the man assigned to take them around.Lincoln, as usual, was the first to react when he saw Bryan approaching.“Damn, bro!” Lincoln grinned, stepping forward and giving Bryan’s outfit an exaggerated once-over. “You look like you just walked straight out of a fashion magazine. Our manager really outdid himself this time.”Raymond, standing beside him with his arms crossed, nodded in agreement. “For once, I gotta admit he got it right. These outfits are fire.”Bryan smirked slightly. “You just realized he knows what he’s doing?”Raymond chuckled. “Man, I always knew, but you know me, I love to act like I don’t. The moment Bryan and his crew arrived at the luxurious five-star hotel in Mexico, they were escorted to their respective rooms. The hotel was nothing short of extravagant, with marble floors, floor-to-ceiling windows that offered breathtaking views of the city, and soft golden lighting that gave the entire place a warm, elegant feel.Bryan pushed open the door to his suite and stepped inside. The room was spacious, with a king-sized bed neatly made with crisp white sheets, a seating area with plush sofas, and a minibar stocked with expensive drinks. A large flat-screen TV hung on the wall opposite the bed, and a door led to an en-suite bathroom that had both a bathtub and a glass-enclosed shower. He tossed his duffel bag onto the bed and stretched his arms. It had been a long flight, and even though he wasn’t one to complain, he was grateful to have some time to rest before the concert later that evening. Just as he was about to sit down, his phone vibrated with a message.“Get s

Mia was deep in sleep, curled up comfortably under the thick blankets, when a soft but persistent knock sounded at her door. She stirred slightly, frowning as she tried to cling to sleep, but the knocking came again. Groaning, she sat up, rubbing her sleepy eyes before muttering, “It’s open.”The door creaked open, and Mrs. Chapman stepped inside, looking as lively as ever. She was already dressed, her hair neatly pinned up, and she had a warm smile on her face.“Wakey, wakey, my dear. It’s so nice out here.”Mrs. Chapman gave her a look. “Yes, we do. You’re not planning to sleep by the pool, are you?”Mia pouted but reluctantly got up from the poolside, grabbing a towel and tying it around her waist. “Fine, fine. But I’m taking my ice cream with me,” she said, taking another spoonful as they walked inside.Mrs. Chapman chuckled. “At this rate, you’ll end up getting a brain freeze.”Mia grinned. “That’s a risk I’m willing to take.”As they entered the house, their conversation shifted to random topics.“You know,” Mrs. Chapman started, wiping her damp hands with a smaller towel, “I’ve been meaning to ask—have you given any more thought to that charity ga
