Kamara's POV

I was seated next to Nana's bed when I slept off. I didn't know how I did, but by the time I woke up, I saw Nana staring at me with a smile on her face. “Nana,” I mumbled with a slight smile. I hadn't registered what was going on around, and then it finally dawned upon me.

“Nana!” I screamed, throwing myself into her embrace. She laughed gently with a slight wince, making me draw back quickly. “I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'll get the doctor,” I said hurriedly, dashing out of the room and returning with the doctor and nurses.

“Madam Sanchez, do you feel any pain aside from where you've been shot?” The doctor said to her as she was helped up to take her seat. She shook her head negatively. “What about dizziness? Do you feel dizzy or lightheaded?”

“No, I don't at all,” Nana replied, her voice breaking a bit, but despite just waking up, I could tell she was the Nana I recognized.

“That's great. You should take some rest, and the nurses will watch over you for a few more hours

Kamara's POV “And he asked me to grab something to eat out with him after Nana leaves the hospital. Can you imagine?” I scoffed, placing everything we've brought down on the counter. Chantelle and I came to the convenience store across from the hospital to get a few things and treats. “Well, why not just grab something to eat with him?” Chantelle asked me, handing over her card to the cashier and it was accompanied by beeping sounds which I focused on instead of answering her questions. “Come on. Why don't you want to have dinner with him? Because he's mafia and you'd get your arm blown off again?” I paused, turning to her with a scoff. “Come on, Chantelle. This is Diego we're talking about. It's only a matter of time before he gets mad again and starts snubbing me around the house. Our relationship is strictly as it is and I want nothing more.” I reminded her, grabbing our bags off the cashier's counter as we headed out of the convenience store. The question I had directed at Die

Kamara's POV. “Oh, my goodness. You look stunning in that dress. It's like Diego knows you more than anyone.” Nana complimented me as I checked myself in the mirror. The red dress really did look pretty on me. The red was a deep red fitted long gown adorned with thousands of rhinestones. It looked so fancy and it made me wonder if we really were going for something more than a dinner. Despite its look, I wish I had made my own dress. I can’t exactly fit in my own clothes anymore with the growing bump. “Are we going to an event?” I asked Fernando who was seated on one of the sofas in the lounge. “The dress is too fancy and probably expensive also.”“It was handmade for you requested by Don Diego. And no, it's just for dinner. You might come across those he works with so the looks also count.” Fernando replied calmly and I got why. It's probably because we might come across someone he knows and wants me presentable. Of course, it was nothing more. “I'll be back soon, Nana,” I said,

Kamara's POV “Kamara?!” Ciara, my younger sister called in shock, taking a step back from the man she was with. “What are you doing here, Ciara?” I asked, my voice as hard as steel and I could see the worried look on her face when she saw me. What on earth was she doing here? “Do you know her sweetheart?” The middle-aged man asked Ciara who looked nervous before shaking her head. “She's just an acquaintance.” She laughed nervously, ignoring me like I wasn't there. I was about to take a step towards her to give her a good beating when Diego took my hand, keeping me in place. “It's great to meet you again, Don Diego. I would have never thought you would come today.” “It's a pleasure seeing you too, Melinda,” Diego replied coldly before looking down at the Middle-aged man. “And I see you are still flocking over her, Gideon.”“What can I say? She's my precious bride.” The old man chuckled before walking past us with Ciara in her hand. Melinda? When the fuck did Ciara turn to Melinda.

Kamara's POV “You do not have the right to speak to me that way,” I yelled at her angrily, swallowing my pain. “And neither do you, sister. You're throwing yourself on a man who would never care about you and let me guess, spreading your legs for him just for connections? I expected better from you, Kamara–” A slap landed across her face, my hands trembling as I glared at her. “Don't you dare speak to me that way? You do not know what I am going through and at least I am not with some man old enough to have you as his child.” “At least I am in love with him. I love Gideon and he has been there for me when everyone in the family has been flocking around you, the child who made everyone proud by getting a scholarship and is now in New York, helping pay father's debts. But you are just with a man, getting money from him.” “Oh, would you shut up Ciara? Love this love that, you are just ruining yourself. Look at him. Look at the man you are his wife. Did Mum agree to this? No. Did dad

Diego's POV I stood back in the living room as the doctor examined Kamara. When I saw her back at the restaurant, I knew something was wrong but I didn't bother pushing forward into it. If she wanted to fake something then she should fake it.But after I saw her crying in the bathroom, it was more obvious that something was wrong with her, and now pregnancy stress. She was only about nine weeks gone. I have been keeping count. “You've been too strict with her diet. I'm sure you barely let her have whatever she's craving.” Dave, my personal doctor said, turning to look at me after he examined her. “What do you mean by that? She and the baby need to be healthy–”“But she also needs to satisfy her cravings to make her a tad bit happier. Are you ready to hear my prescription or not?” He asked, taking a seat while glancing back at Kamara who just sat there, leaning back into the sofa. “Let's hear it.” “From all I've gotten from her, she has been stressed, has constant headaches, and h

Diego's POV Her grip on the spoon tightened. She swallowed, setting her spoon down with deliberate slowness. “That won't be necessary,” she said, voice even and calm, though I didn't miss the slight hitch in her breath. I chuckled, but I didn't push. She ate and I cleaned up after her. I watched as she left the kitchen, heading up towards the room and I just remained in the living room, going through a couple of things Fernando had sent to me. As I was lost in work, my thoughts wandered back to what Dave said. Sex. We never agreed on sex but we did agree on whatever to make the baby grow healthy and now sex was included in it. We'd have to erase the no sex rule but do I really want that? I've never for once paid attention to her sexually or even slept in the same room as her even though she stayed in what was meant to be our room ever since those two nights we had spent together to get her pregnant again. It had taken me weeks to get the scene out of my head. Keeping my distance

Kamara’s POV Diego's lips crashed against mine. The kiss was soft and gentle, for a moment, I melted into it. The kiss felt so different and foreign and I found myself savoring the feeling. But as soon as it hit me that I was kissing him, I jerked back, breaking the contact. My mind was fuzzy as my hand came to touch my lips and I could still feel his on mine. And the soft scent of cigarette and menthol. “What do you think you're doing?” I asked, trying to get mad but I just couldn't bring out the expression I wanted to. Diego looked down at me and when I met his gaze, something in them made me shiver. I felt as if I was standing before a beast who was ready to devour me any second now. I was about to say another word when he pulled me closer by my waist. My eyes widened as his lips crashed against mine again. This time, there was nothing gentle about it. It was raw and demanding. His tongue slid across my bottom lip, trying to gain access to my mouth. I gasped, and his tongue sl

Diego's POVA soft chuckle escaped my lips as looked down at her passed out. I glanced down at my cock still buried in her. “I wasn't even finished.” I chuckled, pulling out of her with a slight groan. I wiped her clean, placing her back comfortably on the bed. Fuck, I couldn't believe I really just had sex with her. I didn't know where my self-control went after that kiss. It flew out the window in an instant. I'm definitely sure if she hadn't passed out, I wouldn't have been able to hold myself back. The sight of her pink pussy, her round and firm breasts. “Oh fuck.” I groaned, feeling my dick getting harder. She was just so fucking hot. It made me wonder how hot her heavily pregnant body would be. I couldn't take it anymore. I dashed towards the bathroom, turning in the shower as if it would relieve me but it wouldn't didn't. “Damn it.” I groaned, giving myself a hand as the sight of her beautiful face, flushed and filled with pleasure played in my head. I could never get tired

Kamara's POV “Would you please get me a cup of tea sweetheart? I don't know why Diego had to send the maids out at this hour.” I heard Nana call out to me from her room and I couldn't help but chuckle as I hummed. I was in the kitchen making tea for Nana when my phone rang. I wanted to ignore it but it rang again. I let out a sigh, dropping the jar of tea to pick up my phone. But when I saw my mum's name on the ID, I hesitated for a few seconds before accepting the call. “Hello?” “Kamara!” My mother's panicked voice sent chills down my spine. Although it was a panicked voice, I could still hear the hint of anger in her tone. “It's your brother– Jason– he was attacked.” My grip on the phone tightened as I felt my body started trembling slightly. “What? What do you mean by attack? Is he okay?” “He's in the hospital. A group of men jumped him when he left our lodge. They said they were Diego's men. Goodness, what did you get us into Kamara? Why can't you just be without trouble for

Kamara's POV I opened my eyes to the stream of sunlight coming directly into the room. It took me a while before my gaze finally adjusted. I roughed my hair up drowsily as I looked around me. I was dressed in my nightwear and in the room. I was confused for a split second before everything that happened last night came flooding my head. My face flushed as I covered my face with my palm. I couldn't believe I had consented to actually having sex in the car. That's any woman's fantasy. A small giggle escaped my lips as I swung my feet down from the bed, looking at my reflection in the mirror. Diego had cleaned me up against last night and washed me up and one thing I had to admit this new prescription made me see much more gentle sides of him. Even if it was just because of the baby, in order to reduce my stress level, it wasn't bad to have him care for me once in a while like he did both times we've had sex now. I walked down towards the kitchen and I could hear the clinking of gla

Diego's POV I could feel Kamara's breath ghosting over my neck, her chest growing with each intake of air.I was far from done but I had to be considerate of her, thinking she must be tired from the season. I was having a hard time holding back but I didn't want to move her either. "I need more, Diego. I want more." She whispered through her ragged breath. I smiled after hearing her words, seeing the eagerness in her eyes as well spurred me on but I didn't want to do it here, not in the cramped space of my car. It wasn't how Kamara would act but who cares. She needed to take her mind off what just happened and I'll gladly do that for her. "Let's go back to the mansion and continue. I promise to make it worth your time." I breathed out, helping her to the passenger's seat as I handed her my jacket to wear over her dress. It would probably be a mess now. "Alright."Getting her to agree with me was all I needed. I hurriedly turned on the engine and drove out of the parking lot.Withi

  • Mafia Diego's Surrogate    Chapter 57

Diego's POV I didn't care what kind of reaction I would get, I just took Kamara and pulled her out of the restaurant casually. After walking out of the restaurant with Kamara trailing behind me, I headed straight into the parking lot with my car in sight. I didn't know why I just followed her after she requested I shouldn't but I'm having this sense of satisfaction that I did. "What the fuck, Diego?" Kamara barked as she yanked her hand off mine, causing me to stop and turn to her with a puzzled expression. "How could you?""How could I what?" I asked, withdrawing my hand as I stared back at her. "How could you fucking show up in my family meeting like that?" She pushed against my chest, clearly angry at me. I looked at her for a moment, still trying to understand her reaction. Is this how all women act after you help them? Because I do not understand. "I don't understand… I can't show up when you clearly looked uncomfortable in there?” "Why will you?" She scoffed, looking arou

Kamara's POV I slid into the chair across from her, my fingers lacing together on my lap. “Explain. Tell us what the hell you have done.” She said, cutting straight to the chase. No warmth, no room for greetings or jokes. They wouldn't even listen to it if it was offered. My throat felt dry. “I don't know what Ciara told you, but–” “She told us enough,” my mother cut in sharply. “She said you're not in New York, well this proves it. That you've been lying to us. That you're pregnant. That you're living with some mafia boss. Is that true?” I swallowed. “Yes.” My mother flinched like I had slapped her. “And you weren't going to tell us?” My father asked, his tone low and furious. “It's not what you think,” I said, choosing my words carefully. My mother scoffed. “Then tell me what it is Kamara? Because from where I'm sitting I don't understand anything. How could you be so reckless, Kamara? How could you throw your life away like this? Do you know how difficult it is to carry a

Kamara's POV “Get out!” His voice resounded in the entire hallway. I felt the hair on my skin rise. Of course, he wouldn't listen to anything I had to say to him. Why did I even come to meet him in the first place? I was about to turn when he grabbed my hand as if reading my thoughts. That was when I noticed everyone standing behind him was leaving already. “Not you silly.” He replied, gesturing towards the door not far from where we stood. I walked into the room with him and it was a suite. It wasn't a surprise since this was a hotel, but Fernando said this was Diego's floor. Only those who wanted to have private meetings with him would have access up here and also his office was here. So that meant this hotel suite was his also. I wonder how many women he had brought in here. The instant the thought came into my head, I shook it off, going after him as he headed towards the balcony. “Did you come all the way because you're mad I wasn't in bed this morning when you woke up?” He

Kamara's POV “Kamara Hermes!” I flinched over the sheer anger in my mother's voice. It wasn't the kind of anger I usually felt from her when she was ready to scold the shit out of me, I could tell it was much worse than I could comprehend. “Mum–”“Do you not Mum me!” She snapped. Her irritation is obvious even from over the phone. “Do you have any idea what we've just heard? Don't even try to explain yourself. You lied to us, saying you were in New York chasing a dream we fully supported, just to find out you're in Atlanta, pregnant– pregnant for Don Diego, Kamara. That dangerous man. What the hell is wrong with you?”My chest tightened, my hands trembling as I made my way out of the room hurriedly, heading down the hallway to find somewhere private and quiet. I could hear my father's voice in the background, muttering something in disappointment. “How could you do this, Kamara?” My father demanded. “If any of the family or the family friends were to hear about this, it would brin
