Diego’s POV

Why the fuck is that lady not responding to my text? I glanced at my messages and call log but nothing came from Kamara. I had kept my distance to keep from appearing desperate, but her decision to not respond to me was driving me nuts.

Close to a month since we had sex and she has chosen to keep mute. Would it be wrong to barge in on her? Or did she run away?

But that would be stupid of her. All I have to do is have her family out of the house and into the streets in no time. She is stressing me out. On second thought, what if she is experiencing some sort of complications again and resorted to not telling me? Knowing that might be the case made me clench my fist tightly. She is nothing but a pain in the ass.

“How is Kamara?” Nana asked out of the blue.

Fernandez's laughter that I had shut out a while ago drowned out with a cough all of a sudden and his glass of juice hung in the air. He had come by the house to pick me up for the night out we were having. Only to get

Kamara’s POV“Are you sure you won’t take a test?” Chantelle queried for the umpteenth time. I groaned inwardly throwing her a hard glare. “What is it with you and pestering me to death?” “Don’t tell me you are going to play pretend and act like you don’t see yourself. You have been finding it hard to wake up with a clear head and when you do all of the food you get to eat ends up in a puke. You are pregnant.” I cringed at her announcement. As much as I have been waiting for this for over a month now. It doesn’t change the fact that the idea sounds crude in my ear. Unknown to Chantelle I had taken a pregnancy test by myself when she was out of the house. I practically cried my eyes out at the result. I am not sure I want any part of this. Chantelle made a face and tilted her head. “You do know you suck at lying right?” I gulped, “what do you mean?”“Exactly what you heard. Your face color deepens whenever you lie. I know you are aware of your present condition. What I do not und

Diego’s POV“Where is that bastard?” I growled, turning my eyes to Aiden. His throat bobbed with difficulty as he clasped his hands behind him while avoiding my eyes. “Redfish was able to escape.” “I don’t care where that bastard must have run to. Did I hear that one of my packages is with him?” I questioned. “Y…yes, boss.” I cackled dryly. “It's obvious you have a death wish, Aiden. Find redfish and get my package back!” “We can’t just go after him, he is in Italy as we speak.” “So?” Aiden looked like he would shed some tears. “It is far from our territory, boss. He already linked up with Guillermo. And you know what that means.” I sucked my teeth, feeling irritated. Guillermo is one of my family’s longest enemy and he always seems to enjoy tugging at my patience. “Alright, send Bruno over. He will handle it just the way I expected you to.” “Yes, boss.” He mumbled, turning to leave. “And Aiden… do yourself a favor and keep your stupid face away from my sight.” I gnashed m

Kamara’s POV“Here we are,” Chantelle announced before letting out a loud gasp. Her eyes were almost out of their sockets. “This is one huge house. I would kill to spend some time here.” I let out a disgruntled sound and got my things out of the car. It took me days to eventually agree to the fact that I am carrying my arch enemies child and it is my duty to birth it. As Chantelle said, getting it done within no time is the best way to forget any of this ever happened. Diego had asked to send his driver but I refused and said Chantelle would drop me off. I need someone close enough to know where I would be living for the next eight months just in case I get killed. “Stop overthinking it.” Chantelle rubbed at my back. “If I go into that house, I am going to be spending months with strangers and probably have my life on hold.” “I can always come by to see you. It can’t be that bad.” She mumbled trying to look positive. “It is that bad.” I let out in a whisper. “These folks are mur

Diego’s POV “What do you want?” Kamara grumbled rudely on the other end. “Like I would want anything from you.” I retorted, sucking my teeth. “I just needed to be sure you are where you should be.” She snorted. “Like you don’t have enough spies doing your bidding. Do I look like a leash dog to you? Obviously, you have nothing else to say to me. Which implies the end of discussion.” And just like that the line went dead. My hand gripped the phone tightly. I am going to deal with her. “Trouble in paradise?” Fernando asked, throwing peanuts into his mouth. “That Kamara girl is so rude.” I hissed“Someone that I think you truly deserve.” “You are stupid.” “Could say the same for you. Moreover, why did you lie about us traveling to Nana when we are right here in Atlanta?” I shifted in my chair, crossing my legs. “If Nana finds out that I am engaging in any kind of brawl with the Mancini brothers she would have a fit.” “I feel crazy right now that I am actually involved with you i

Kamara’s POV I feel so restless and hungry. I have been moving around the bed like someone whose body is being pricked. The damned live-in nurse who also serves as Diego’s spy dog seems so keen on seeing my end. Putting me on a stupid diet that doesn’t even resonate with my cravings. Never thought I had it in me to desire food so much. I had read somewhere that pregnant women are allowed to cheat on their diets. But bitch ass nurse Candace wouldn’t let me be. Sitting up, I let out a strained breath, I won’t be able to get any wink of sleep if I don’t indulge in my desire tonight. I tiptoed out of the room, and down the hallway to the kitchen. Seeing it so close to my reach makes my heart sing in delight. All I want is some chocolates. All thanks to Chantelle and Nana who helped hide it in one of the cabinets Candace would never have thought to search. A small smile played on my lips as I reached for a chocolate bar. Tearing it open and taking a bite, I was transported to paradise

Neither you nor your brother, but for Don Diego to intentionally plant an explosive device at the port? You have no evidence and so you can't break the truce just because of that.” Fernando hissed, trying hard to keep his anger in check and it felt so satisfying. “Don Diego went against our initial plan, Fernando. Diego's POVI returned to Nana's ward and by the time I got up there, the doctors were out already. “What about her?” I asked, trying to restrain myself. It was all my fault. If I had just stayed back, I wouldn't have gotten Nana involved in all of this. “She is responding to treatments but she's yet to be conscious. I can't guarantee when she would be awake, and her responding to treatments might only be temporary because she sustained a shock during the shot.” The Doctor explained calmly and I wanted to plant my fist right in his face but yeah, what would it even change?Without listening any further, I walked into Nana's hospital room. There were calculated beeping sounds as I stepped in to look at her, different machines connected to get the body to keep her alive. I paused as I looked up at her trembling slightly. “D-don’t tell me you'll also leave me, Nana.” I choked, my body rooted to the spot and unable to move. I thought all this while, I have been able to protect Nana from

Kamara's POV A dull, throbbing pain at the back of my head was the first thing I registered as I felt my consciousness drift back to me. My limbs felt heavy and it felt difficult to breathe. The last thing I remembered was being in the garden and now… now?My eyes fluttered open, everything dim and almost dark. It took a while before my eyes finally adjusted to the sight around. I couldn't tell where I was but from the fresh scent of alcohol and cigarette, I was tell someone was here not so long ago. I tried to move, but pressure dug into my body making me wince a little. Rope, I was tied to a chair. My breath hitched. Where am I? The last thing I remembered were those voices in the garden telling me their boss would love me. I didn't know who could have done this but my only thought was either it was connected to Diego or something else but there was no way it would be something else because he is the only dangerous thing I am connected to. “You're finally awake.” A deep voice
