Chapter 37

Maeve POV

We all sat in silence, looking at the young woman in front of us. It’s been three days, and as promised, Duncan got a witch. We have all been sitting down for the past 5 minutes, and she has not said one word. I looked at Duncan, and he shrugged his shoulders.

“They said she was the best in town,” he said. I faced the witch, patiently waiting for her to talk. As she requested, we are in an empty room; we are all seated on the floor with our legs folded. The door opened, and a black-haired little boy peeped inside. I smiled at Otto.

“Mom,” he said, rubbing his eyes. He was sleeping, wondering how he found me.

“Come in,” I said, smiling at him. He closed the door, yawning, then walked towards me and sat on my folded laps.

“How was your nap?” I asked, brushing his messed-up hair. He rested his head on my chest, looking up at me.
