HIS MATE

  (ALPHA LEO’S POV)

This fight has been dragging on for so long and it was getting annoying. I don't know why the Alpha of that small pack couldn't just leave the lands and had to resort to fighting, even if he was aware he had no chance of winning but since that was what he wanted then I had to fulfill his wishes, so I sent my pack new soldiers who had just come out of training so they could gain experience, but I didn't expect the Full Moon pack to be so useless.

I had to rush here when the fight was prolonged, and that was when I found out the opponents had been hiding and not wanting to fight. It got me speechless and after anger, I felt so angst, like who goes to war but not fight? Why did the opposite side declare war and then hide? So I knew I had to finish this myself, and that was how an easy fight turned brutal when he got involved.

My wolf started getting restless and excited which was strange as the fight was not even intense, his wolf had always loved something intense and this was not enough to make him excited as it was just one-sided beatings. As I tried to ignore it, I felt a sharp pain in my heart, now I knew I could ignore it no more. I was confused about what was going on, but my wolf kept telling me to look up, and when I did, I was given a big shock.

There she was, standing as she clutched her chest in pain, with her eyes closed. Her blonde hair is packed up in a ponytail. She was standing in front of an injured soldier who seemed to be yelling at her in anger, which irritated him so much, how dare that little wolf yell at her?! But when she looked straight at me, I felt my eyes blur with desire and shock, and I could hear my wolf growling in excitement.

“MATE!” I whispered and as if confirming it his wolf growled more.

“How could this be?! My Mate?! How could I have a mate? And she is part of the opponent pack?! Darn it!” My ears kept on ringing with the growls of wolves fighting and the sharp cries of pain of the injured, but all that could register in my mind was that I found my mate, and she was beautiful.

I wanted to go closer to her, I wanted to see and talk to her, but then a pest had to distract me at that moment and after taking care of it, I couldn't find my mate anymore. Distracted searched around the battleground but couldn't find her which got me really irritated, so I left the war grounds.

“Alpha! Are you not interested in fighting anymore? I knew you would lose interest in the fight, but who knew it would be this fast? Haha!”

The voice of my friend and also the Beta of the pack spoke as soon as he saw me enter the camp.

“Yeah right,” I answered indifferently as my mind didn't capture what he was saying.

Sitting down on the second chair in the room, I couldn't stop my brain from thinking about the lady I saw, who might be my mate. I still can't believe it though, since I had always believed I had no Mate and had come along with the fact that I wouldn't get married but who knew I would have that feeling after years.

“You have something on your mind Leo? You look out of sorts.” His friend’s question shook him out of his thoughts.

“Liam, I think I found my mate!”

Liam asked in disbelief, “What did you say?!”

“You heard me right, but I am confused right now. I mean, who finds their mate at the age of 26?! When I had gotten used to the fact that I am alone and wouldn't have anyone.” I complained as I still couldn't understand what was happening.

“Who is the girl? Where is she? And it's not like you not to kidnap the lady after finding out she might be your mate.” Liam joked.

 “Well…”

Liam's eyes widened, “Huh?! Don't tell me you wanted to do that?!”

I had thought of that, but that pest had distracted me and made her escape. But I will find her, the connection will bring us together, I know that!

Liam looked at me with a raised eyebrow, his lips suddenly curled up in a smile making me wonder what he had thought about.

 “Spill it out, Liam!”

Liam rolled his eyes, “Tsk! You are so overbearing!” Then continued, “ I was just thinking about how you would manage if she was your mate. Remember you have a crazy fake fiancee at home.”

“Darn it!” I had forgotten about that woman, but it was not time yet. There is still a lot to gain, and I can't dismiss her now.

“I will think of a way. For now, I just want to confirm one thing,” I said to the excited Liam, who seemed to be looking for gossip.

“Let's stop the attack, for now, there is something I need to do and decide on,” I said to Liam after much thinking.

Confused, Liam asked, “Why? Is it about your mate? But how does that bother with the war going on?”

“My mate is from that camp, and she seems to be a healer.”

I watched Liam's eyes widen as he watched me with his mouth agar. I know how complicated it is, so I don't even find his shocked face surprising.

I looked speechlessly at Liam confusingly as he whistled with a mischievous smile, then stood up to leave without exchanging more words with me. I am familiar with his acts and I know when he does this, he is ready for some juicy topics.

Besides, I knew what to do.

 **********************************

It was late in the night, and everyone had let down their guard. Now was the time to act, which I didn't think hard about before doing.

I changed and shifted into my wolf form as it was dark and would always blend in with the night. Running into the darkness, I blended with the night.

After running for almost 20 minutes, I stopped at the camp of the Full Moon pack. I stayed still as I was confused about where to find her, I paced around softly without letting anyone find out. Though I didn't know why I was being careful, as I could easily go in to take anyone I wanted without these sneaky acts, I found this more interesting.

I allowed my wolf instinct to work as I relaxed and let it take over. My wolf followed the mate bond and walked a distance before stopping, I knew we were closer to her now, so I shifted back. I sneaked into the place where my wolf had growled silently. And there she was, sitting among the sleeping women, just looking into a space, which makes me wonder what she was thinking about. I crept near her as I didn't want to alarm the other women sleeping. Immediately covering her mouth, I knew she might scream when she was startled, but I could see the fear and shock in her eyes as she looked at me which made me irritated.

Putting a finger on my lips, “Shi, I won't harm you, I promise.”

But it seemed she didn't believe me, but I didn't care at that moment. I just carried her on my shoulder and ran out with my hand still covering her mouth.

“Ouch!” I couldn't help but exclaim after feeling the pain in my palm.

“Did she just bite my palm? How dare she?!”

  • MY RUNAWAY MATE   Chapter 25: The Frozen Wolf

(Tessa & Ignas’ POV alternating)(Tessa’s POV)I knew sneaking into the war library was reckless.Stupid, even. But I also knew that the scroll I found in Leo’s lockbox was older than anything used in recent battles. The seal on it wasn’t just Dominic Pack authority—it bore an emblem I’d only seen once before: a howling wolf with its chest split open, and thirteen crescent marks circling it.The Thirteenth Howl.No one in the pack dared speak of it. But if Ignas was somehow connected… she needed answers. And so did I.The war library was buried beneath the Alpha’s tent—a hidden door leading into a tunnel of stone walls and ancient warding sigils. Only Leo, Liam, and two archivists were allowed beyond it.But they’d made a mistake trusting me as a healer.I knew the scent of the root needed to paralyze the door ward. I knew how to dilute a blend of Silverleaf and Black Lace vine to bypass the sigil that burned flesh. And now, here I was, inside the forbidden room—scrolls everywhere, pa

  • MY RUNAWAY MATE   Chapter 24: Firebound

Firebound(Ignas’ POV)The masked assassin didn’t hesitate.Flames exploded from his palm, hissing like wild serpents as they coiled toward us. Leo shoved me behind a standing stone, taking the full hit of the fire blast across his shield. The explosion cracked against the rune-covered stone like thunder.I screamed, “Leo!”“I’m fine,” he growled, his voice a strained rasp. “Stay behind me.”But I could see the way he staggered when he turned back, the singed edges of his cloak, the blood dripping from a cut near his jaw. Whatever shielding he’d used, it had only held for the first hit.The masked Flame-Born stalked toward us with eerie calm, fire licking up his arms, his eyes glowing through slits in the mask.“You weren’t supposed to awaken, girl,” he said in a distorted voice. “Your wolf should have stayed buried.”Leo raised his blade. “You picked the wrong Alpha to threaten.”The assassin laughed darkly. “I don’t care about you, Dominic dog. She’s the one we want. The one our anc

  • MY RUNAWAY MATE   Chapter 23: The Voice Beneath the Blood Moon

The Voice Beneath the Blood Moon(Ignas’ POV)When I finally opened my eyes, everything was still. The sky had darkened above us, shadows stretching long between the trees, and the wind carried a low, howling whistle that didn’t belong.Leo was crouched beside me, his arm still braced around my waist, his eyes glued to my face with pure concern.“Ignas?” he asked gently, brushing a damp strand of hair from my forehead.I blinked slowly. “I saw her. My mother… She was running. Through fire. Holding a bundle—me, I think.”Leo tensed. “Fire?”I nodded. “She was trying to get away. There were wolves in cloaks. They were chasing her. She… she whispered something before the vision ended.”“What did she say?” he asked.I swallowed. “She said, ‘If she ever awakens, tell her—don’t trust the flame-born.’”Leo stiffened. My chest tightened. “Does that… mean something to you?”He hesitated. “There’s an old rumor. The Flame-Born Wolves—they were a faction of fire-aligned warriors. Charred red fur,

  • MY RUNAWAY MATE   Chapter 22: The Map of Shadows

(Ignas’ POV)It had started again. That low hum beneath my skin.A strange flicker of light in the corners of my vision. Whispers that didn’t reach my ears, but curled around my spine like smoke. My senses—heightened. My instincts—louder. The bond was no longer the loudest thing inside me.Something older… something buried… was waking up.And it terrified me.I’d never wanted power. I just wanted peace. Belonging. A place where I didn’t have to keep proving my worth to people who had already decided it didn’t exist. Now, with one letter, one vision, and one truth—I was a beacon.A hunted one.Tessa’s voice pulled me back to the present.“I found something,” she whispered, slipping into my tent like a shadow. Her eyes were bright, cheeks flushed from running.“What?”“In Madam Theresa’s book. The old journal she left you. There’s a page I’d never noticed before. It was stitched into the spine—hidden.”She pulled out the book from her satchel. A thin leather journal, frayed and worn. Sh

  • MY RUNAWAY MATE   Chapter 21: Echoes Of Power

Echoes of Power(Ignas’ POV)I thought I was dreaming again. The world around me was strange—blurry, half-suspended in a haze of silver light. The trees glowed as if moonlight had soaked into their bark, and the ground beneath my bare feet pulsed with energy.I walked forward, uncertain.Every step felt… right. Like I’d done this before. Then I heard it.A whisper. My name.“Ignas…”I turned, searching for the voice. But the forest answered only with silence. The leaves rustled as if the wind were trying to speak, but no words came. Then, out of the shadows, a figure emerged.A woman. She wore a deep blue cloak, long white hair cascading down her back. Her eyes—moonlight silver—glowed as they locked onto mine.“You’re not ready,” she said softly.I tried to speak, but my mouth wouldn't form words.“You’ve been hidden. Suppressed. But the bond inside you is awakening. And when it does… they’ll come.”My heart pounded. “Who are you?” I finally whispered. She stepped closer, lifted a han

  • MY RUNAWAY MATE   Chapter 20: The Suppressed Truth

The Suppressed Truth(Ignas’ POV)Something was different about Leo when he came to me.The moment he stepped into the healer’s tent, I felt it. His eyes weren’t just sharp—they were conflicted, haunted. He’d always carried shadows beneath that fierce exterior, but this… this was different. He was hiding something.“Walk with me,” he said quietly.I didn’t ask questions. Just nodded, wiped my hands, and followed him out into the evening air.We walked in silence, side by side, the wind brushing our cloaks like whispers trying to speak what we wouldn’t say aloud. The camp was unusually still for a night before battle. Too quiet. When we reached the forest line, he stopped.I turned to him. “What’s going on?”He didn’t meet my eyes.Instead, Leo reached into his coat and pulled out something wrapped in aged leather. He handed it to me.A document.I stared at it. My name was written at the top.“I found this,” he said. “In a hidden vault my mother left behind.”I unfolded it slowly. My
