HIS MATE
(ALPHA LEO’S POV)
This fight has been dragging on for so long and it was getting annoying. I don't know why the Alpha of that small pack couldn't just leave the lands and had to resort to fighting, even if he was aware he had no chance of winning but since that was what he wanted then I had to fulfill his wishes, so I sent my pack new soldiers who had just come out of training so they could gain experience, but I didn't expect the Full Moon pack to be so useless.
I had to rush here when the fight was prolonged, and that was when I found out the opponents had been hiding and not wanting to fight. It got me speechless and after anger, I felt so angst, like who goes to war but not fight? Why did the opposite side declare war and then hide? So I knew I had to finish this myself, and that was how an easy fight turned brutal when he got involved.
My wolf started getting restless and excited which was strange as the fight was not even intense, his wolf had always loved something intense and this was not enough to make him excited as it was just one-sided beatings. As I tried to ignore it, I felt a sharp pain in my heart, now I knew I could ignore it no more. I was confused about what was going on, but my wolf kept telling me to look up, and when I did, I was given a big shock.
There she was, standing as she clutched her chest in pain, with her eyes closed. Her blonde hair is packed up in a ponytail. She was standing in front of an injured soldier who seemed to be yelling at her in anger, which irritated him so much, how dare that little wolf yell at her?! But when she looked straight at me, I felt my eyes blur with desire and shock, and I could hear my wolf growling in excitement.
“MATE!” I whispered and as if confirming it his wolf growled more.
“How could this be?! My Mate?! How could I have a mate? And she is part of the opponent pack?! Darn it!” My ears kept on ringing with the growls of wolves fighting and the sharp cries of pain of the injured, but all that could register in my mind was that I found my mate, and she was beautiful.
I wanted to go closer to her, I wanted to see and talk to her, but then a pest had to distract me at that moment and after taking care of it, I couldn't find my mate anymore. Distracted searched around the battleground but couldn't find her which got me really irritated, so I left the war grounds.
“Alpha! Are you not interested in fighting anymore? I knew you would lose interest in the fight, but who knew it would be this fast? Haha!”
The voice of my friend and also the Beta of the pack spoke as soon as he saw me enter the camp.
“Yeah right,” I answered indifferently as my mind didn't capture what he was saying.
Sitting down on the second chair in the room, I couldn't stop my brain from thinking about the lady I saw, who might be my mate. I still can't believe it though, since I had always believed I had no Mate and had come along with the fact that I wouldn't get married but who knew I would have that feeling after years.
“You have something on your mind Leo? You look out of sorts.” His friend’s question shook him out of his thoughts.
“Liam, I think I found my mate!”
Liam asked in disbelief, “What did you say?!”
“You heard me right, but I am confused right now. I mean, who finds their mate at the age of 26?! When I had gotten used to the fact that I am alone and wouldn't have anyone.” I complained as I still couldn't understand what was happening.
“Who is the girl? Where is she? And it's not like you not to kidnap the lady after finding out she might be your mate.” Liam joked.
“Well…”
Liam's eyes widened, “Huh?! Don't tell me you wanted to do that?!”
I had thought of that, but that pest had distracted me and made her escape. But I will find her, the connection will bring us together, I know that!
Liam looked at me with a raised eyebrow, his lips suddenly curled up in a smile making me wonder what he had thought about.
“Spill it out, Liam!”
Liam rolled his eyes, “Tsk! You are so overbearing!” Then continued, “ I was just thinking about how you would manage if she was your mate. Remember you have a crazy fake fiancee at home.”
“Darn it!” I had forgotten about that woman, but it was not time yet. There is still a lot to gain, and I can't dismiss her now.
“I will think of a way. For now, I just want to confirm one thing,” I said to the excited Liam, who seemed to be looking for gossip.
“Let's stop the attack, for now, there is something I need to do and decide on,” I said to Liam after much thinking.
Confused, Liam asked, “Why? Is it about your mate? But how does that bother with the war going on?”
“My mate is from that camp, and she seems to be a healer.”
I watched Liam's eyes widen as he watched me with his mouth agar. I know how complicated it is, so I don't even find his shocked face surprising.
I looked speechlessly at Liam confusingly as he whistled with a mischievous smile, then stood up to leave without exchanging more words with me. I am familiar with his acts and I know when he does this, he is ready for some juicy topics.
Besides, I knew what to do.
**********************************
It was late in the night, and everyone had let down their guard. Now was the time to act, which I didn't think hard about before doing.
I changed and shifted into my wolf form as it was dark and would always blend in with the night. Running into the darkness, I blended with the night.
After running for almost 20 minutes, I stopped at the camp of the Full Moon pack. I stayed still as I was confused about where to find her, I paced around softly without letting anyone find out. Though I didn't know why I was being careful, as I could easily go in to take anyone I wanted without these sneaky acts, I found this more interesting.
I allowed my wolf instinct to work as I relaxed and let it take over. My wolf followed the mate bond and walked a distance before stopping, I knew we were closer to her now, so I shifted back. I sneaked into the place where my wolf had growled silently. And there she was, sitting among the sleeping women, just looking into a space, which makes me wonder what she was thinking about. I crept near her as I didn't want to alarm the other women sleeping. Immediately covering her mouth, I knew she might scream when she was startled, but I could see the fear and shock in her eyes as she looked at me which made me irritated.
Putting a finger on my lips, “Shi, I won't harm you, I promise.”
But it seemed she didn't believe me, but I didn't care at that moment. I just carried her on my shoulder and ran out with my hand still covering her mouth.
“Ouch!” I couldn't help but exclaim after feeling the pain in my palm.
“Did she just bite my palm? How dare she?!”
UNBEARABLE ATTRACTION (IGNAS POV) I watched the man whose eyes pierced my eyes, it was like he could see through my soul even when he was far away, which made me want to give myself to him. At that instant I knew something was wrong when my heart felt like it was burning and I could feel never before excitement in my body, i knew I had to escape from there at times because I couldn't control my body with his gaze on me. Then a chance to escape came when a soldier from the Full Moon pack attacked him from the back seeing he was in a daze. Taking that chance to escape, I ran away so fast, that I didn't even look at the injured soldier who was so angry and looked like he would beat me up when he got hold of me. I immediately ran inside the little space left for the female healers to sleep. Only a few unconscious ones were lying down on the mat at this moment, I looked around in case he had followed and only sat down when I didn't notice any movement. My chest kept beating so fast
(Ignas' POV)His surprised face almost sent me into fits of laughter. Mighty Alpha Leo, the brutal leader of the Dominic Pack, looked like a fish just out of water. I watched him, his after-shock face rolling from one confusion into another, and a smile crept inside. Never have I thought I would ever see such a terrifying Alpha this unsure.“Having a good time?" I taunt. "Is this all a big game to you? You think it's funny to pretend like I am your mate?”He stared at me, his dark eyes chasing mine, as if he didn't understand what I had said. I felt this weird satisfaction, like taunting him was some kind of victory that I needed after all I'd been through. And when I turned, ready to walk away from him and the storm of emotions he'd stirred up, his hand caught my arm, holding me firmly in place."Wait," he said, his voice low but commanding. "What do you mean by that? What are you trying to say, you have no wolf?”I stood there, my heart pounding, and anger rising in me. He stared a
Deep Conversation (Alpha Leo's POV)I watched her small figure disappear into the distance, a smirk twisting my lips. She actually thought she could walk away, just leave and forget the spark of the bond flaring to life between us. Cute. The temptation to pull her back into me, to make her mine right here and now was too huge. I made myself stay in place, though, fists clenched in hopes it would hold at bay the possessiveness bubbling up inside me. Is it Normal to feel this? this raw desperate need to claim someone I'd just met?My wolf growled in response, as if reminding me of the answer. She's your mate; that's what happens.I knew it was supposed to be this all-consuming magnetic pull when finding a mate, but I'd convinced myself long ago that wasn't going to happen with me. Heavy Heart(Ignas' POV)I came back to camp as quietly as one could, stepping light without the slightest noise that could make somebody notice. The last thing I needed was that anybody noticed my absence and started asking questions. I had enough attention this night, more than enough confusion. It swirled through my mind, the memory of his piercing gaze, the possessiveness in his tone when he'd called me "mate." I let a wry laugh loose into the still night. How fucking absurd was this? Why, when I'd finally let go of the idea that I'd ever have a mate, did the Moon Goddess decide to give me one now?And not some insignificant person either, but a powerful, dangerous Alpha from the Dominic Pack, the enemy pack. That just about covered it for cruel jokes as far as I knew, almost as if I was being punished for doing something that I didn't even know I had done.If my mate had been somebody normal, some uncomplicated decent man, I would have thanked my stars. A Boring War(Alpha Leo's POV)Morning came with the clanging of men in training, the ripple of laughter across the camp, and the clash of weapons in simulated combat outside. Boisterous, it was, from without, but inside my quarters, I lay still, my mind not on routines and drills of my men.All I could think about were the conversations from yesterday-the possibility, however slight, that Ignas had been poisoned. It was truly a bitter taste in my mouth. Who would go to such an extent to hurt her? My rational mind wanted to shut it down-to believe she was weak-but something far inside of me couldn't let it be. She had been poisoned, then whoever was responsible would suffer. Badly. As my mind wandered, I could almost see an image of Ignas: the way she'd walked away from me yesterday, her back rigid with resolve, her cheeks puffed in frustration, her dimples showing when glaring at me. Chapter 9: The Bond is Real(Ignas' POV)The silence that settled between us was thick, weighted in tension I could not ignore. I watched Leo step out of the shadows, his big frame silhouetted against the faint moonlight. Those piercing eyes of his locked on mine, and for a moment, I wanted to look away-to shield myself from the weight of his stare. But I didn't.I didn't budge, my back straight and my chin high. If he thought I was going to wilt under his presence, then he had another thing coming. I wasn't that weak. Not anymore."You've been following me," I said, breaking the silence.Leo didn't bat an eyelid. "I wanted to see you."His tone was light, but what was underneath those words hit a lot heavier than I thought it would. Crossing my arms over my chest, buffering myself from whatever game he played, I said, "Why? So you can convince me I'm your mate again? You're wasting your time, Alpha.""Am I?"
