My heart almost collapsed at the sound of gunshots. I shut the door to my room immediately, praying that it wouldn't all end tonight. I tried calling Mace a couple of times, but he wasn't picking up. I guess he's still in a meeting. I hide in the corner of my room, all shaky. A few minutes later, my doorbell rang. I thought the bodyguards stationed downstairs had all been killed and were going to come at me like they did before. I went in search of a gun in the cabinet, I was about to open the cabinet when I heard my phone ring. I thought it was Mace, and I quickly jumped out of the bathroom in search of the phone. I didn't bother checking who the caller was, and I picked up.

"Mace, you need to come get me."

"Tilda, calm down." I heard Grace's voice from the other end.

"Grace?" I took the phone away from my cheeks to check who the caller was. Grace asked me to come downstairs because someone was asking for me.

I was scared out of my mind. For a second, I thought they had finally got t

I know I messed up before but I wouldn't let any hawk in human form come even an hair's breadth close to her, I would cherish and pamper her as she deserves. In all my 35 years on earth as a made man I had never been scared of losing someone like I was when she kicked me out of the hospital, I felt my heart breaking in tiny pieces, if this is what heartbreak truly looks like, I wouldn't want to experience it ever again. I stepped outside with Ray to gather the courage to come to face her again, she has a knack for disorganizing me, I stood outside the door contemplating when best to go in. I nearly punched a hole into that fool's face when he came to see Tilda at the hospital, I would have done more damage to his stupid face when Ray came to his rescue begging me to free him for

It is my second day here in the Hunter's Mansion and Mace has been nothing but sweet to me. He spends every waking moment trying so hard to make things right.I know there is danger lurking around the corner, but I decided to face every single one of them head-on as long as I have Mace. I was in the room when I got a text from Mace to come join him at the study. It was the first time he invited me into the study after we signed that damned marriage contract. I leaped off the bed and went down to the study to see Mace.On getting into the study, he was on a video chat with someone. Immediately I saw him, my brows went up in a frown, wondering why he would send for me if he was on a business call.He waved at me, smiling while beckoning for me to come over. I went to him, and he took me by the waist and made me sit on his lap, making me face the laptop screen. I was surprised to see his mom on the laptop screen."Tilda darling," she called out. I guess she was more overjoyed seeing me t

I prayed silently for the day not to end, and even if it were a dream, I would gladly remain in this dreamland. There was soft music playing in the background, and the atmosphere was just soothing. The chauffeur took our orders, and a few minutes later he appeared with plates. These days I don't feel like a princess locked away in a mansion anymore, but I feel like the center of Mace's world.I guess some are just so lucky, and I am among the lucky ones. I ate the food to my heart's content, and I was enjoying the evening without any fear of being shot at. Just when I thought the evening was going to come to an end, the fireworks started."Woah, this is so awesome," I said, grinning at Mace. He held me from behind as we watched the fireworks together. "Do you like it?" he whispered into my ears."I love it" was all I could manage to say as I watched the fireworks go off one after another. It was far more than I imagined, and I find myself falling in love with Mace Hunter over and over

MACE'S POVI had already scheduled my flight to leave for Singapore early the next morning, but I was too overwhelmed by the news Amorino broke that evening.Something was amiss, but whatever it was, I'm kind of grateful it prompted her to quickly change her mind. I quickly turned on the ignition of the car and was rushing over to her place when my phone rang.It was one of the guards stationed at Amorino's apartment. He reported the incident that occurred this evening to me."Fools," I blurted out immediately. I dropped the call. How could they be so incompetent that they can't catch the lunatic firing at them? Why they just couldn't catch that fool was far beyond my understanding."Damn!" I screamed, realizing that my Amorino might still be in danger. The more I thought I gave to it, the more grateful and depressing it became.I am grateful that Amorino is moving in with me but depressed because I know she must be worked up at the sound of gunshots. MACE'S POVMy face lit up in a smile in an attempt to hide the anger I felt within. I wasn't going to let anyone or anything spoil this special day for Matilda.I could see the excitement and happiness written all over her as she watched the fireworks. This little human has a weird way of making my heart race. I would rather die than see any harm come to her.We spent the rest of the night in solitude, basking in each other's love and affection. I wanted to extend my stay, seeing how happy it made her feel.I woke up the next morning and put a call through to the manager. I could tell she was happy when I commended her for the arrangement yesterday and I ordered breakfast.A few minutes later, I heard a gentle tap on the door. I opened up only to see the manager and some of the workers pushing in a tray of food."She sure knows how to lick ass," I said to myself. Room service was way beneath her pay grade, but I guess she wanted to impress me.Immediate

I was at home struggling to finish up my assignments and found it quite hard to concentrate as all I had in mind was Mace. I remembered my splendid day yesterday with him. I have just been smiling a lot these few days and sincerely pray it remains like that. I hopped in the shower after I was done with my work, trying my best to calm my nerves and not explode with another round of laughter looking at the ring. I was still in the shower when I heard a car drive in. I assume it was Mace because it was a little too late for visitors.I quickly rushed my bath and came out of the shower tying a towel. I was about to dress up when I heard his voice asking his men something, and I knew he was back. I was about to pick up my phone from the nightstand when the door opened, and I turned to see him behind me.His face lit up in a smile when our eyes locked. He hugged me from behind, planting a kiss on my shoulder."How was your day?" He asked, still holding me in his arms."It was good, but I mi

Kieran seemed a bit surprised by the news, but he quickly masked it with a smile. The girls congratulated us, and dad was glad we considered his opinion. The dinner ended a few hours later, and I was so glad that it ended on a good note. My joy knew no bounds when Kieran finally left the house."Wheeew dodged a bullet," I whispered.* * * * * * * * *I was rushing off to school; we were to write an examination that morning. I have been feeling a bit feverish these few days; I couldn't read the previous night because of the fever. It was the last paper for the semester, and I was kind of glad that we were done with the school drama so that I could concentrate on the wedding. Leo and two of the guards were with me that morning. I got off at the parking lot and rushed into the hall. Grace looked at me a bit concerned, but I just wanted to get this exam over with. I was a few minutes late for the examination. The examiner was unwilling to give me the exam paper at first, but after much pl

I have tried making arrangements to see Kieran, but I heard he traveled on the very day he saved me. I tried calling him but could not reach him. I kept wondering what he was hiding from and why he didn't want anyone to know that he was present on the day that I was nearly attacked by those men. I wondered if he had traveled because of the school vacation or if he was scared of something.I wanted to get to the bottom of the whole drama, but the only hiccup I was facing was how to get a hold of Kieran."Shit, I don't even know much about him." The realization made me even more scared: could he be a spy or a hitman? After a few days, I came to the conclusion that he was either hiding or that he was also abducted. I was desperate for answers and didn't know what to do. I have never seen him with any friends or family members. I called Karen to see if she heard from Kieran, but she also didn't know his whereabouts.I decided to forget about him and focus on the wedding that is a few days

MACE'S POVI had so many thoughts running through my mind as I raced up the stairs. I prayed so hard, but it wasn't what I was thinking. I don't know what I would do if anything happened to her.I was in disbelief looking at her standing like an avenger with a gun in her hands and Sarah lying down dead beneath her. I never thought Amorino could fire a gun, but here I am looking at the very impossible staring me in the face.I ran towards her, took the gun from her, and handed it over to Ray.I looked her over before hugging her. I was glad she was okay and even happier that we both saved our son together."Amorino, are you okay?" I asked, peering into her face."I'm fine; where is Vey?" she asked immediately, looking from me to Ray."Vey is fine," Dad replied. She quickly ran to him and grabbed him from his hands, hugging him so hard."Mammy!""Mammy is here, Vey," she said, smiling at him."Hold on, were you going to accept this crazy bitch proposal?" S

If she had messed with me, I would be lenient, but you mess with my family, and I will send you to the afterlife in pieces."Where?" "Right under our nose."Tilda jumped off the bed while hurriedly heading to the door"Honey, where are you off to?" Mom asked her. "To get my son!" She screamed, her voice filled with pain."Amorino," I gently called her; she didn't answer, nor did she glance my way. I began feeling dizzy, and the whole room was spinning nonstop in my eyes."Ma'am," she called yet again, but I was slowly losing sense of my surroundings. I heard her beckoning on the guards to come, but before I knew it, I had lost consciousness.I opened my eyes, but the light was too bright. I shut my eyes, but I could hear Sergio and Mace arguing over God knows what. I managed to open my eyes, and I tried a little harder to keep them open as my eyes adjusted to the brightness of the light."Darling, you are awake?" I heard Ana's voice. I followed the voice only to see her seated on the chair next to the bed.I was a bit confused about where we were and what was going on."What happened to me?" I asked Ana. I asked the nanny."Yes Ma'am" Mace took Lavey from the nanny, and we set out for dinner. Our little adventure in the shower delayed us a little bit; when we got to the Castillo's, the room was already packed. It was a lovely sight to behold; there were no outsiders in attendance, just family. I guess being a father comes with some changes."It's beautiful," I said, smiling at him as he held me in his arms."I wanted to give our prince the best," he said proudly. It is the best nursery I have seen. There was a beautiful white baby bed at one end of the room. The wallpapers were so beautiful. I asked Mace while pointing at the drawing."Yes, Amorino, we need to always remind him that he is a hunter," Mace replied while kissing my hair."Of course," I said, rolling my eyes."Do you think Lavey would love it? I painted the room myself," he whispered.I was a bit surprised to hear he did all this by himself. I brought his hands close to my lips and kissed him."He will adore it," I said to him, and I went

MACE'S POVI rushed to the torture room, where I found Dad seated. I told one of our men to lead Dad into the room and away from Ricci's minions. I came closer to see a dead body lying on the floor. I guess one of Ricci's fools thought he could kill Dad seeing he was wounded. I went over to his side; he was losing a lot of blood. I got more worried. What pained me most was how to explain to Mom that Dad got hurt. Why would he take the bullet,"It should have been me," I kept whispering to myself.I fished out my phone from my pocket to call a doctor, but my dad wouldn't let me. He grabbed my hands, looking me straight in the eyes. I could tell the amount of pain he was in."Don't," he said."We should get you a doctor, dad.""I'm fine, ocean; the bullet just grazed my skin. MACE'S POVI woke up the next morning to the beeping sound of my phone. I checked the time, and it was 5 a.m. I pulled my fingers that had been buried under my pillow out and got off the bed to prepare. I had some scores to settle this morning. It was time to rain blood on Ricci and his minions. I warned that fool that I might be my father's son, but I'm not my father. I was already prepared to leave, but I was checking out my outfit when Ray called to inform me that he was downstairs.I turned to the bed to find Amorino still soundly asleep. I didn't want to wake her, so I wrote a note on a piece of paper and placed it on the bedside table where she could easily find it before leaving.
