He is so arrogant, how could I have thought that first impression for him didn't matter. At least his first impression is way better than the second one, I mean who takes someone he had just met to his investment office to show her his investments.

If he was hoping that I would just jump into bed with him after I have seen how much he has, he is going to be so surprise when he sees how off marker he is.

"Hello, good afternoon Mr. Adeyemi, can I get something for you to drink?" the same girl who has been yapping around him since he stepped into the building asked, this time she had popped a button on her top and was leaning towards him, giving him an eyeful... or would have if he was looking but he barely glanced at her which meant he was used to this kind of scenario happening often.

"No thank you I am not parched." Kola as I have relearnt his name said not even looking at her. "Babe, what about it you?" He asked looking at my face.

"Clean sparkling water." I tell her with a smile as she look towards my direction with a frown on her face.

Kola nodded at her without even checking her out as I struggle not to laugh, I would have like Kola's behavior if he didn't chose this place.

"Why the face?" he asked.

"Nothing." I replied, quickly smoothing my expression.

"If we are going to be friends, you have to stop lying, it is not something that I take lightly." Kola informs me with a frown as I snorted at him.

"Pretty high handed of you to assume that we will be friends, after this obligatory meeting, I would delete and block your number and get on with my life." I tell him simply as he stared at me in shock.

"What did I do now?" he asked.

"I don't like arrogant people." I tell him.

"Arrogant?" he asked confused.

"Don't act like you are not aware of what you are doing, so you carried me here to show me that you have hundreds of thousands in investment so I would fall in bed with you or what?" I demanded and when he opened his mouth to talk again, I cut him short as I continued. "Let me tell you it won't work, you are not the first person to throw money at me and think that I will just fall into your arms naked. It won't work."

"If I wanted someone in my bed, there are dozens of applicants, you just met one of them and they certainly won't give me the kind of wahala (stress) you are giving me. I also was not throwing money at you, I have never done that and the reason why we are here is because I need to do this today and also you told me you couldn't be brought, remember?"

"so you decided to see if I would go back on my words." I fumed.

"No, I decided that you can accompany and you wouldn't change your mind about me because of money. That is refreshing and one of the reasons why I want to be your friend."

"Let's call a spade, a spade here. You are not looking for friendship." I voiced.

"True but I am also not looking to jump into being more without trying out that friendship route fist." Kola replied as I glared at him.

"So if I get naked for you now..."

"I will cover you up, put you on a cab and you will never hear from me again." He replied without missing a beat. I leant back into my chair as I regarded his words.

I was wrong about him.

And I am happy about that.

And that gave me mixed feelings, he just gave me an out. If I never wanted to see him again, all I had to do was get naked for him but did I want to take that.

"Nice Try mister man but I will not try to do something that extreme just to get you off my back." I tell him as he rolled his eyes at me.

"Who turned you into the cynical person, because I don't think you were born this way." Kola asked me with all seriousness and when I glared at him he added. "You became judge, jury and executioner on my character without giving me a chance to explain myself. You concluded that the reason why I was doing what I was doing was because selfish not looking at it from my perspective that I was trying to protect myself. I don't like judgmental people." Kola stated firmly as I hid my face in embarrassment, I had that coming all along with the bitchy way I was acting.

Before I could open my mouth to defend myself because that was the route I was taking, the door opened and two men stepped outside, one nodded at us and left while the other approached Kola and gave him a man hug. "My Guy, how far na, wetin you dey do for here."

"No be you threaten me say if I nor come, you nor go accept any money from me." Kola replied with a roll of his eyes as the guy smiled.

"I be nor know say you go run come, na just yesterday here we be get that conversation." The guy chuckled.

"So you speak pidgin in the office Victor." Kola asked as Victor smiles.

"Any one make go make the company money na I go speak." Victor replied cheekily. "But, let's get serious. Welcome Mr. Adeyemi."

I was so shocked at the 360 change that my jaw dropped, the action made the guy look at me fully. "Well hello pretty. I'm Victor and you?"

"Nor even go there." Kola warns Victor who laughs but stops when he caught a look on Kola face.

"Stella." I replied as Victor nodded.

"Nice to meet you Stella." Victor said, this time with more respect and less roaming eyes, it was as if something had passed between them and Victor was acting more courteous because of it. "Shall we take this inside?"

"Sure." Kola said as he placed his hand on my back to guide me inside, it was the most intrusive touch he has ever place on me and yet, it didn't feel that way at all.

  • MY PERFECT MATCH   Best friend

I was in my office reminiscence on how well I and Stella clicked, that was last week but I still couldn’t stop thinking about that day. After my boring investment talks with Victor which surprisingly was not boring to Stella, I learnt that she was a business management student and also not as bitchy as she had acted, she did have her moments when her character threatened my patience but she did apologized later and we spent a wonderful time together. And she also chose to call it a non-date, that girl is very hard headed and that was what was keeping me interested in her.Her stubborn attitude has it’s uses because I think if she had been like every other girl, she won’t be in my passing thought but she somehow got hold of my thought process and I couldn’t even think of Tomi as usual which was a first in history because I had always thought about that girl.

  • MY PERFECT MATCH   Networking

Networking“Tell me you are joking. Kola, I am supposed to start my I.T next two weeks at Ojo and sons ventures.” I raged stomping around in Kola office showing my disagreement with his decision. “You cannot change it with a snap of your fingers.”“Yes I can’t do that but I can with a phone call.” Kola replied as I sent a glare his way, my glares seem to have stopped working because he just still look at me with his calm face on. “Come here babe.” Kola adds as I glared more at him.“No, I don’t want to be with arms reach of you, I might rip your hand off and beat you with it.” I retorted and Kola just smiled at me, it has been two months since we first met and we are still friends or I think we both know that we are more than friends already, we already act like we are dating but I wasn’t so certain about my reply if he does ask me out, I think h

  • MY PERFECT MATCH   Friends only

“So is your rich and well connected boyfriend picking you today?” Jess, a girl who works at the company Kola placed me in, said spitefully.“I have told you that he is not my boyfriend.” I sighed, she will just continue to attack me, and she hates the fact that I didn’t work as hard as she and her friend did to get a job here, well the rumors said she slept with one of the senior officers in charge of recruitment to give her and her friend acceptance letter but then an order came from the owner of the company that I am to be placed on the team so her friend was dropped.“So friends with benefits then. All these girls that won’t keep their legs closed and using their bodies to get to places where the rest of us got with our brains.” Jess said a little too loudly as the rest of the students who were sharing an office with

  • MY PERFECT MATCH   Mixed feelings

I didn’t lie when I said that me and Stella are just friend but that word has been ringing in my head and it felt wrong, I even started to feel more out of place when Kevin handed his personal card to Stella, the only reason why I didn’t punch Kevin for that bold move was because I knew Stella will never use the card for anything other than the business.“What’s wrong? You have been quiet since we entered your car.” Stella glanced at me.“Nothing.” I replied as my mind races for an excuse, Stella is like a dog with a bone, she won’t let go until she is satisfied with the answer which was given.“You need to learn how to lie better my dear.” Stella repeated the words I said to her barel

  • MY PERFECT MATCH   Meet the family

“You do know that you are not supposed to outshine the celebrants.” I teased Stella as she entered my car. Her lace material fitted her shape to perfection and at the same time it wasn’t too much. Her face had minimal make up but still highlighted her soft features, I already felt proud that she was going to be on my arm today.“Shut up” She turned her head away from me embarrassed.“Honestly though, I think my mother will not be too angry since you will be on the arm of her son. You are beautiful.”“Thank you, you are not so bad yourself. Your Abgada look nice.” Stella complimented me too

  • MY PERFECT MATCH   Lines drawn

I knew my place with Kola was not solid enough to be making mouth at Tomi who has been his best friend for years but I was pissed, that girl had hurt Kola, granted before I met him but she still had to act like she is the most important person in his life. She might be but I was betting on me being special enough to Kola for him to tolerate me and he did. That alone gave me joy, I was ignored by the other ladies in the party, Tomi even had the audacity to introduce Cynthia, Kola ex girl friend to me and I had to bite my lips as I watched as Cynthia tried to flirt with Kola. The guy was just acting dense and as usual, it was endearing to me but I was tired of watching a lady fling herself at my boyfriend while the girl who introduces herself as Kola best friend to others was actively trying to make me look like a fool.

  • MY PERFECT MATCH   Mr. Romantic

I was a little bit upset after Tomi words even if I didn’t let her see it and I acted way more bitchy to Kola than usual so that was why the next day, I took a cab to Kola’s house after church, he had given me his key a while ago so I could let myself in, I was in the middle of cooking when Kola opened his door and saw me.“Hmm” he folded his hand across his chest as he waited for my explanation.“The food is almost ready. I wanted to cook for you.” I said foregoing the apology which I should have started with.“Is it poisoned?” Kola asked and when I glared at him he continued. “Believe me that is expected because with the way you were acti

  • MY PERFECT MATCH   Sign of trouble

It was almost another weekend when I found something troubling, my day started out normal with me exchanging insults with Jess and greeting the boss when he dropped in to say hi, he has been doing that since on Monday but today was less flirty than other times maybe because I finally told Kola yesterday how Kevin actions was making me feel. I wouldn’t put it pass Kola to call Kevin and ask Kevin to take good care of me since I am now his girlfriend, all to show Kevin that I am off the market. My day was still normal then, even after lunch which I had with another intern, the only one whom I warmed up to maybe because I knew he was just too intelligent and it would be a waste if I don’t form a connection to with him. We have been hanging out for lunch breaks now while Kola will pick me up after closing, take me to dinner and then drop me off at home

I opened the door without looking. “What?” I screamed into the face of the person.“Gross. Try that again and I will hurt you.” Stella threatened from my door step as I blinked a couple of times to determine that she was real. “So are you going to let me in or am I going to force my way in?” she demanded and her words broke me out of my stupor, I stopped blocking the doorway so she could enter.“Stella what are you doing here?” I asked her as I shut the door behind her and followed her to the sitting room.“If you are not happy to see me just tell me now so I can leave?”“What’s the point, you are leaving either way.” I tell her not referring to her leaving my house. • MY PERFECT MATCH   It isn’t enough

Today was the day. I breathed out heavily, hoping to release the tension I was feeling but it didn’t help. I was going to attend Tomi Traditional marriage, the white wedding was tomorrow but I wasn’t sure I could get the chance to have a private chat with Kola then.“Are you sure you want to do this?” Bode asks.“Of course, she will so be worried about my presence, I want her to feel uncomfortable a little bit.”“But it is Kola brother who is getting married, why will the bride feel that way?” Bode asked again as I smiled at him. He doesn’t know the full story and no matter how much I was upset with Tomi and Kola, I wouldn’t tell another soul what happened since it can affect her happily ever after. I didn’t get mine because of her but that doesn’t mean that I will repay evil with evil.“Okay oh, let’s go.” Bode said as I smiled and came down from his car the same time he did and rou

  • MY PERFECT MATCH   fairy godmother

Uncle Tony made good of his threat, he left jail the next day after posting bail. He also sent men to kidnap me but the EFCC (Economic and Financial Crime Commission) swooped in and arrested him. Apparently, according to the small information that I could hear while I was still bundled up in the kidnappers nest when everything had gone down, Uncle Tony was being investigated, had been for a while and that someone tipped them off that something was going to happen to me so they watched me too and used this to pin Uncle Tony down.“… Chief Anthony decided to confess his crimes for a reduction in his sentence, from NTA, I am Aisha Yusef reporting.” Bode clicked the TV off in my hospital room.“We need to celebrate.” Bode turns with a flourish and a grin so wide, you could probably count his thirty two teeth.“Alcoholic beverages please.” Ivy added after letting out a whoop and a shocking waist roll that

  • MY PERFECT MATCH   The talk

“You asked to see me Kola?” Tomi asked as she entered my office, she must have gotten my text the night before, I sent it the night before and I couldn't care less when she got it. It didn't matter to me if she had to rush here. Somehow she must know that this is our last time together.“Have a seat.” I tell her. When she sat down she started to talk but I didn’t call her here to listen to her talks, I called her here for her to listen to me. “I never meant for you to be unhappy Kola, believe me…”“Stop, I am not in the mood for your apologies. Why did you do it? That’s all I want to know, why on earth were you convinced that you like me or that I liked you, yeah sure, I might have liked the idea of us being more but that was because you were a safe place for me, why did you have to ruin it?”“Because I thought we would be more.” Tomi

  • MY PERFECT MATCH   Moving on

Days turned into weeks and still I remembered Kola as if he was right beside me, it didn’t get easier, I just got used to the absence. A very good way which I used to keep myself busy and away from thinking about him was A.I. the company had years of rot on it and I was taking care of it one at a time but this time… I was going after the big one.“You are fired and the police downstairs will like to see you.” I said as I dropped the sack letter I had drafted on Uncle Tony table.“What do you think you are doing little girl?” he asked, removing his glasses and dropping the newspaper he was reading on supposed office hours.“Removing the person who tried to ruin my cooperation from the inside out.” I returned with a glare, I was a little bit scared but I won’t let it get to me, I needed to see his face as I checkmated him.“You can’t do anything Stella, go do a beauty

  • MY PERFECT MATCH   Confrontation

“Are you sure that, that is what happened?’ Ivy asked gently but still annoying. This is the sixth time she was asking that question within the hour that I have gotten home, Bode is still in the sitting room while I was changing, and he wanted to see me calm first before he leaves.“Yes Ivy, how many times do you want me to say it. Kola was in a lip lock with Tomi when I entered his office. And no I didn’t imagine it and neither was my mind playing tricks on me.”“Brother Kola is not the type of person to do this.”“He lied before… I am not surprised, I would have never trusted him.” I brushed my face angrily, I hated the tears that kept falling. They needed to stop. Princess was right, Kola was not worth my time or tears if he is the half decent human that he tried to convince me that he was.“Okay oh. Let me leave you to pull yourself together while I keep Bode company.” Ivy paused

  • MY PERFECT MATCH   Heartbroken

I don’t know where I was driving to. All I knew was that I had to get away from Kola before I would run him down and I needed to get as far away from him as possible. A police checkpoint was ahead of me and when I stopped in front of them, I tried to clean my tears.“Ma’am are you Okay?” he asked as I smiled through my eyes that were watery again.“Sure officer.” I lied as I collected the driving license from my car and passed it to him.“The particulars of the car.” He added and I passed it to him too, when he saw it he nodded. “Can you park the car to the side ma’am?”“Okay.” I said confused but I parked the car any way and he took his sweet time in joining me where he told me to park the car.“I need you to call someone, every of your documents is in a good shape but you are not.”“You cannot make that assumption, I am perfectly fine.”&
