The aroma of food made Gia’s eyes snap wide open. Steak! Her nose was currently sniffing the delicious scent of steak.

Gia pulled off the blanket, only to pull it back on again. She had just realized she wasn’t wearing any clothes. Glancing around the room, she landed on a wardrobe attached to the wall.

Wrapped in the blanket, Gia got up and walked to the wardrobe. A sigh escaped her lips when she discovered the wardrobe only filled with men’s clothes.

From experience, Gia scanned the room, hoping to spot a stack of dresses. But this time, there was absolutely nothing—no dresses, just pants, shirts, and sweaters. The wardrobe’s contents looked incomplete.

Gia pulled a long white sweater from the pile and slipped it on. The sweater reached halfway down her thighs, and she swallowed her hands completely.

She tugged slightly at the sweater’s back because the V-neck overexposed her chest. Once ready, she rushed out of the room. The aroma of steak was incredibly tempting, and Gia could fee

Nieve is 153 kilometers from the Milan city airport, where Raven’s plane landed. They covered the remaining distance by car, as there was no other option. Nieve was a relatively remote area despite its popularity. It took effort to get there. The drive would take two hours, which Gia would not enjoy at all.Nieve was a city Gia wished to forget, a city she no longer wanted to visit. It would only dredge up more painful memories that haunted her mind. The scenery during the drive was breathtakingly beautiful. Winter in Italy was not so different from Vienna—sparkling white snow, architecture dominated by spired cathedrals, and pine forests that added to the enchanting views.Yet such beauty was wasted on Gia, who couldn’t bring herself to enjoy it. Her thoughts were consumed by what she would do when she finally faced her family again—a family she utterly despised.Raven, seated beside Gia, could sense her unease. Throughout the journey, he rarely let go of her hand, trying to ease her

The heavy snow fell as they began to enter the Neive area. The town hadn’t changed much. Even though it had been more than twenty years since Gia last set foot there, the city council had deliberately preserved the architectural style of the buildings and the roads. The old-world charm of the small town remains intact to this day.Gia’s breath slightly hitched as she caught sight of a footpath by the edge of a meadow, now blanketed in white.“What’s wrong?” Raven asked. He could immediately sense even the most minor changes in Gia, always on high alert and never letting his guard down for a second.“At the end of that path, there’s a simple cottage. I used to live there.”Raven frowned. “You didn’t live with the Ranallo family?”It was clear enough why—Ranallo wouldn’t live in a modest little cottage.Gia shook her head with a bitter smile. “Stella was always furious whenever my mother or I got near the Ranallo house. She didn’t want to acknowledge our existence. Even though…”Gia shi

The man’s wavy and curly hair looked paler than Gia’s. However, his face resembled Gia’s, particularly in the nose and lips. His facial features were sharp, and he had a prominent nose. Unlike Raven, who was always clean-shaven, dark stubble covered his jawline. His height was nearly identical to Raven’s, and their physiques were similar. His piercing green eyes stared sharply at them. There was no warm greeting or anything of the sort. It’s just a stare, particularly at Gia. It was as if he was trying to piece together memories from twenty years ago, the last time they had met.Gia couldn’t quite remember Matteo’s face, but the moment she saw him, various memories flooded her mind. And as she had already admitted, those memories weren’t entirely bad—just tainted by Matteo’s cruel actions. After observing Gia, Matteo turned to Raven, but only briefly. After glancing at him, he pointed to the sofa, signaling them to sit, still without a word. And that was why Gia often referred to Matt

  • MY LOVE IS NOT BLIND   #123 A 'Nice' Dinner

Suppose Gia were to describe that dinner in one sentence; she would choose dinner from hell. Of course, that word “hell” only applied to her—or maybe to Raven. Raven’s face remained neutral, occasionally glancing sideways to ensure Gia ate adequately.Gia ate as usual, though the food that should have been delicious tasted like bland rubber. She simply swallowed her food without savoring it.The quiet atmosphere still enveloped the dining room. The other three Ranallos seemed to follow Matteo’s lead and maintain silence. Or perhaps there was an unspoken rule that all family members must eat the meal without noise.Gia’s spirits slightly lifted when dessert turned out to be tiramisu. The thought of the delicious tiramisu they’d enjoyed earlier brought her a little joy. But the tiramisu quickly lost its appeal when Stella chose to speak at that moment."Where have you been staying all this time? Such a shame you never kept in touch.”Both Gia and Raven froze mid-motion. That seemingly c

Gia sighed. It seemed like everyone always wanted her to wear skirts. Even the clothes provided by Matteo’s servant were long skirts.“What is this?” A furious shout came from the other side of the room.Raven glared at the item in his hand with narrowed eyes, disgust evident. He was holding up a pink sweater. “Is he deliberately trying to drive me insane?”Raven was always associated with dark colors—black, navy blue, and dark brown. Those were the only ones he wore. To him, pink was a color that would ruin his image. It was so far down on his preference list that it wouldn’t even make the top thousand if he had a choice. That color reminded Gia of Caius, who would be delighted to receive a pink sweater as a gift.Still scowling, Raven ripped off the label and put on the sweater. Thankfully, the pants provided were black. Due to their unexpected stay, they had no choice but to accept whatever the host had prepared.“Are you okay?” Raven asked, probably for the fiftieth time since the

Gia struggled to free herself from the grip around her neck. The giant hands encircled her throat tightly. She tried to plead, but the chokehold blocked her airway, and the only sounds escaping her lips were desperate gasps and hiccups.Tears streamed down Gia’s face as she realized the strangulation was draining the air from her lungs. She was sure she would die any second. With all her strength, Gia clawed and pulled at the hands gripping her, but her small hands were no match for the strength of the giant man.The growl, like that of a wild beast, sent a wave of terror through her body, causing her sobs to grow louder. Gia whimpered and begged, pleading for him to let go of her neck. But the only word she heard from his foul-smelling mouth was “Die.” He truly intended for her to die.“Haze?”Raven woke up and turned to Gia. He had just heard her scream loudly.Kicking off the blanket, Raven panicked and gently slapped Gia’s cheeks.“Haze? Can you hear me?”Gia jolted awake. Her fac

Gia didn’t realize that Raven’s absence beside her could make her feel so incredibly empty. Before they were together, she had spent much longer periods alone, yet now, it only took an hour for her to start craving his presence.Gia got up and knocked on the bathroom door. When there was no response, she opened it, only to find it empty. She wondered where Raven had gone so early in the morning?Although curious, Gia decided not to overthink it. Raven was most likely exercising as usual. He was very disciplined about working out in the mornings, especially when he had free time.He has free time, as his work obligations are entirely on hold. Jasper had been instructed not to contact Raven while they were here. However, Gia’s questions resurfaced when, after leaving the bathroom, she still didn’t see Raven in the bedroom. After running for a while, Gia’s legs trembled with cold. The length of her skirt barely reached past her knees. Fortunately, the knitted coat she wore somewhat protected her body. Although it was thin, at least it kept her from freezing instantly outside.Gia wandered aimlessly, following some dull instinct that led her to who knew where. Her mind was shrouded in a fog of anger and hatred. Several times, she roughly wiped her forehead, trying to erase the horrific memory she’d just witnessed. But, of course, such a physical act did nothing to help. The image of the woman’s flawless, bare body kept relentlessly flashing through her mind, and then there was Raven...Gia stopped walking and leaned against a stone pillar by the roadside, clutching her coat tightly. A groan she had been holding back slowly escaped her lips, turning into sobs and tears. She had promised herself she wouldn’t cry again.Leaning her body against the stone pillar, Gia kept pressing her chest repeatedly, trying

"Yes. Just a few days ago,” Gia answered smoothly, without hesitation. Quite convincing.“And you?” Martha pointed at Matteo. “What happened to Dion?”Gia didn’t know who Dion was, but based on the context, he seemed to be Haakon’s usual bodyguard.“He’s sick. Resting,” Matteo answered coldly and briefly. The sunglasses hid almost all of his facial expressions. The other bodyguard glanced at Matteo. He surely knew it was a lie, but he didn’t interfere.“Really? I didn’t know he was sick. He seemed fine yesterday,” Martha said, looking surprised. She trusted Matteo but was puzzled by the sudden illness.“A severe flu,” Matteo added to clear Martha’s remaining doubts.“What about Natalie?”After hearing Matteo’s reasonable explanation, she turned back to Gia. This time, Gia knew that Natalie was the name of Mette’s usual assistant.“She had a sudden family emergency. They couldn’t be left alone. She left unexpectedly yesterday.”Gia inwardly groaned as she realized she had unintentional

Svvere laughed as he listened to Gia’s criticism.“It’s not pleasant at all. I hate it too,” Svvere said.“Does it have to be like this every year?” Gia questioned the gloomy tradition, secretly wishing Svvere didn’t have to go through it annually. It would be too sad if he did.Svvere nodded with exaggerated enthusiasm. “It’s annoying, isn’t it? But thankfully, Mamma replaced it with another party.”“What do you mean?”“When the formal party ends, Mamma hosts a second birthday party the next day. It’s more relaxed, with just cousins and a few close relatives attending.”“That’s wonderful!”Svvere nodded and smiled, knowing the additional party was meant to cheer him up. No wonder he grew up to be such a cheerful young man despite enduring such odd traditions. Mette had ensured that Svvere’s childhood was as normal as possible.Gia’s admiration for Mette grew a little more. At first, she had judged the family for holding such a stiff and formal birthday party. But while they adhered t

Gia hugged Al one more time before handing him over to Marlow. Sophie and Marlow would take care of them. Eventually, Marlow was summoned back to Geirangerfjord, leaving Sophie unable to handle them alone.Fortunately, Al and Frey no longer relied heavily on breast milk since they ate complementary foods. The frozen breast milk supply was also enough to last for a week.Frey immediately reached out his hand as soon as Gia freed hers. He always felt jealous whenever his older brother received more attention, whether from Gia or Raven.Sensing Gia’s unease, the little girl nestled her head against Gia’s neck and wrapped her arms around it in silence, offering comfort and reassurance.“I’ll be back soon, sweetheart. Wait a little longer. I’ll bring Daddy home,” Gia whispered.Frey missed Raven the most. He often cried and became fussy at night, his only way to express how much he missed his father. Gia understood the meaning behind those cries, which made her feel even more devastated.W

“I think this works,” Sophie said, pulling out two suits—one in blue and the other in black. "Go ahead, try them on."Gia nodded obediently and took the two suits into the fitting room. She complied because she understood the necessity of it all. After checking herself in the mirror twice, Gia finally nodded. The suits Sophie had chosen fit her petite frame perfectly."How is it?" Sophie asked."I think they’re fine," Gia replied."Great! Now all we need is to find a party dress.” With quick movements, Sophie handed the two formal suits to the sales assistant for processing."Add these too," Sophie said, pointing to two more outfits she had picked earlier.Gia was already content with the first two suits, but Sophie thought two were far too few. There was no point in arguing with Sophie about the number of clothes. Gia had to comply, or things would drag on unnecessarily. After paying for the purchases, they moved to another boutique specializing in evening and cocktail dresses.Choos

While waiting for Haakon, they enjoyed lunch. Al and Frey needed extra attention during the meal. Mette happily took over Sophie’s role and helped feed Frey. Matteo, on the other hand, wasn’t exceptionally skilled at this.It was clear that Svvere adored Freya. As he sat beside his mother, watching her feed Frey, his eyes never left her. Several times, Gia noticed him gently stroking Frey’s head with affection.Svvere even tried feeding Frey himself, though his hands were clumsy. When he succeeded, he clapped his hands like he had just won a prestigious competition. Frey’s laughter matched Svvere’s excitement, filling the room with joy.Seeing this warmed Gia’s heart a little. She truly hoped that Haakon would provide the answer she was longing for.“She doesn’t want to anymore. You don’t need to force her,” Gia explained, noticing Svvere’s sad expression when Frey refused to open her mouth again.“Is she full?” Svvere asked.“And she’ll probably feel sleepy soon,” Gia replied, explai

Mette’s residence was just as Gia remembered it, though perhaps a bit livelier now that flowers were beginning to bloom in the garden in front of the house. The last time she visited was during autumn when the garden looked much barer.“He’s the prince of Norway?” Matteo still seemed unable to believe that Gia could be close to someone of such stature. He had underestimated Lindgren’s influence before.Gia nodded. “Haakon, Mette’s husband, is the heir to the throne of Norway.”“Let’s see how this unfolds,” Matteo ended the discussion as the car stopped.Al clung tightly to Gia as they got out of the car. The boy always seemed uncomfortable in unfamiliar environments. On the other hand, Frey didn’t seem to care—especially since he was fast asleep in Matteo’s arms. The staff welcomed Gia the first time she visited. Today was special. She saw Mette standing at the main door; naturally, Svvere was with her.“Gia!” Svvere shouted, running toward her. The noise disturbed Frey, but Matteo ca

“It’s colder here,” Gia murmured. She had gotten used to Italy’s climate and forgotten that Norway was several degrees cooler.Italy’s spring temperature hovered below twenty degrees Celsius, but Norway was likely below fifteen. Gia was thankful she had dressed Al and Frey warmly enough.Jasper greeted them on the runway with Max. Their group was quite large, so he had prepared two cars. Besides Matteo, Gia brought Sophie along, as she was the only one who could help her manage the twins. Marlow had stayed behind in Italy and would only join them if necessary.“Geirangerfjord.”Gia pronounced their destination fluently as the car started moving, recalling how patiently Raven had taught her to say the name correctly.A wave of nostalgia hit Gia. Although she had left this country over a year ago, her memories of Norway remained vivid. She remembered how chaotic her emotions were when she first came here. Yet this country was also where she and Raven had gotten married, and it held a sp

Gia’s hands trembled as she listened to the dial tone. The long-distance call only played monotonously, indicating that Caius wasn’t answering.“Is he ignoring you?” Matteo asked.Gia wanted to say yes, but she trusted Caius more than that. So she called again.“Maybe he’s busy,” Gia said, trying to comfort herself while giving Matteo an excuse. The second call nearly crushed Gia’s hope. It, too, was nothing but an endless ringing tone without an answer. But just as the call was about to end, she finally heard a response.“Gia.”“Caz…”“I can’t help you.”Before Gia could even State," her request, Caius cut her off. He had already heard about Raven and guessed why Gia was calling.“I’m not asking for much. Gia honestly forgot about it. The warmth and happiness that had enveloped her these past few months made her unwilling to recall such unpleasant memories. Her mind effortlessly sorted out the fact that Raven was a fugitive and buried it deep in the back of her head. She refused to let that thought disrupt her happiness. But now, that very fact struck her, shattering the beautiful picture of her life at an unexpected moment. It destroyed the perfect world she had tried so hard to maintain.Gia crouched, crossing her arms over her chest, squeezing her arms and shoulders to keep herself conscious. She couldn’t allow herself to faint.
