Chapter 39: Flower gift

Lerisa felt embarrassed by her mother's question. She replied, "No, Mother. Anthony didn't propose to me; it's a gift from a friend."

"A friend? Who is this friend, Lerisa? I'm sure it's a man," Mrs. Antonia said, displeased to hear that another man, who wasn't Anthony, was already giving her daughter flowers.

"Mom, you don't know him." Lerisa winked at Martha, signaling her to stay silent as she walked into the living room, smiling.

Lerisa wasn't ready to disclose to her parents that the man was Anthony's brother—the shameless guy who had an affair with his cousin's girlfriend.

"That's alright. Besides, Anthony hasn't proposed yet, so it's not a crime if another man is serious about you. But you should remind him of our culture and not just accept flowers from him. If he's serious, he should come and marry you first," Mrs. Antonia stated.

"Mom..." Lerisa frowned, meeting her mother's gaze. However, she replied, "Okay, Mom. I have to go inside now and freshen up."
