ZORA
"What are you doing, Zora?" Daisy asked me as she approached me. Her face was laced with disappointment.
"At least accept the offer. You can't just spend your three years with him only to leave with nothing. Please rethink. Go back and collect those documents," she urged me.
"I really understand you, Daisy, but I'm not interested in the offer. I loved Zayn with my whole heart and not because of his status. Please just let me have my way to my room so I could get my things and leave."
Hearing this, Daisy couldn't help but coldly walk out of the way for me.
"I really appreciate your kindness towards me, but I'm not really interested in any of his offers," I told her and proceeded to my room while she sluggishly left.
A few minutes later I was done packing my luggage, and I stormed out of the room, heading downstairs to leave the house.
Upon walking down, Daisy and her husband weren't there anymore. Zayn and Paige were the only ones who remained, as they were busy playing lovebirds and discussing. They didn't even notice my presence until I pulled the door open and walked out.
However, as I walked out and made my way to the gate, I was surprised to see Blake and Daisy as they leaned on their car discussing because I thought they had left.
As soon as they saw me, Daisy rushed after me and helped me carry one of my luggage. "We were actually waiting for you. Is this all your property?" she asked, and I nodded in affirmation.
"We couldn't stand it anymore to stay in there and witness the nuisance Zayn was constituting, so we decided to wait outside," she added, and I chuckled.
"Stay strong, Zora. I and Daisy actually discussed accommodating you in our home until you're fit to rent an apartment," Blake said after he was done arranging my items in the boot. At first, I thought they wanted to give me a lift to my destination, but I was wrong.
I felt really emotional because I never expected this from them. I was actually wondering how to rent a house all of a sudden and where to get the money because I hadn't been paid this month's salary. I've spent almost all my previous paycheck buying food items in the house, not knowing this was what would happen.
"Thank you so much, Blake. I honestly don't know how to thank you both," I said, tears welling up in my eyes.
Daisy didn't waste time to hug me and dabbed my cheeks with her bare hands. "Stop crying, Zora. You've cried enough for someone who doesn't deserve you," she said.
The servants watched emotionally as we hugged each other. Daisy didn't even know when she started sobbing.
About ten seconds later, we finally let go of each other.
"We will really miss you, Miss Zora," one of the servants said. "You're the only person who makes our stay here lively."
"I don't like this new lady. From her looks and appearance, no doubt she'd be wicked," another person chipped in.
"I will as well miss you all, but I can't prevent this. I wish it's not happening," I responded and went to them, hugging them one after another.
"Hopefully, she doesn't treat you all bad. I'll always remember you," I said and then turned to meet Daisy and her husband in the car.
The servants stood, waving me goodbye as we drove out of the compound.
A few minutes later, we were already in front of Blake's home. However, as soon as we drove in, my phone started ringing. With curiosity, I took it out and glared at the screen, only to notice it was my boss from the office.
Without hesitation, I picked up the call and placed the phone on my right ear. "Hello. Good afternoon, sir," I greeted him.
"Good afternoon, Miss Ezrah," he replied and dragged in a long breath before continuing.
"I actually called you to inform you that we have decided to terminate your contract with us because of the recent incident that transpired in the office," he said, causing my pulse to pause for some seconds.
"What happened, sir? Why?" I asked him with a teary tone.
She sighed and was silent for a few seconds. "We've concluded that you know much about the missing fund in the office, and we have to act immediately to avoid such action repeating in the future in order to protect our reputation," he stated, and he hung up the call immediately without even letting me utter a word.
I froze instantly. This was the least of the news I was expecting to hear. Not even now I was down to the lowest. What would I use to care for myself now? I couldn't believe I was sacked over an issue that I even fought against.
I fought those responsible for the embezzlement, but due to a lack of enough proof, I couldn't expose them on time until they succeeded with their plan.
It was later they realized I was about to expose them that they teamed up and framed me as the one responsible for the missing fund.
"What is that, Zora? Talk to us," Daisy urged me.
"I've lost my job," I responded coldly. "I don't even know what to do at this point. Maybe ending it all is the best option."
"No dear. You will get another job. Don't think it's over. It'll surely come to pass," she encouraged me.
"Let's go in first so we can discuss better," Blake chipped in, patting me on the shoulder in consolation.
I managed to walk out of the car and then entered the house, even forgetting my luggage. It was Daisy and her husband that helped me bring them inside.
"Don't worry too much about all this, Zora, so it won't affect you. I'll always try to help in all aspects I can," Blake told me.
"For now, you should go in your room and bathe, then have enough sleep," he added.
I sighed heavily and gulped hard. "Thank you so much, sir. Honestly, I don't know what could have happened if not for you. May God continue blessing you abundantly," I said and stood up, heading to my room so I could sleep. I really needed it because my head was as if it was going to explode because of too much stress.
After walking halfway, I heard Daisy yell my name. "You forgot your phone here, and it's ringing," she said.
"Oh wow." I was excited, and a thought rang in my mind. "Maybe my boss had found out the truth, and he's calling to denounce his previous statements."
It's been three weeks since I moved into Daisy's home, and I must say they are the best humans I've met on this earth. They made me forget about my marriage crash and showered me with love and care.I felt valued and happy, more than when I was with Zayn. However, since I had no job, I always felt like a burden to them, even though Daisy would tell me not to worry about it.At one point, her husband promised to secure me a job in one of his companies, which would take some months, if not a year, after they had made some rearrangements. However, I decided to start a part-time job at one of the top restaurants in the city while waiting for the opportunity.Today started off hectic for me due to my pregnancy issue. I wasn't feeling well, but I decided to manage and go to work since I hadn't requested leave yesterday. My senior colleagues and boss might think I intentionally chose not to come to work.As I walked in and went to the dressing room to put on my uniform, a colleague knocked o
ZORA I paid the cab driver and hurried into the compound. I rushed to prepare dinner for my husband because it was our anniversary and his birthday.I had decided to cook his special meal as part of his birthday gift. I wanted to show him how much I loved him and how happy I was that he married me.Zayn, a famous billionaire who ran the multimillion-dollar firm he inherited from his father, and I had been married for three years. We married a year after graduating from college.Although Zayn hadn't been the best husband over the past three years, I kept hoping for his change. The lack of a child contributed to his sudden change. We had visited many medical places, but it seemed we weren’t doing something right. However, today I felt excited because I had a special surprise: a hospital report showing I was one month pregnant! We lived in a sophisticated villa in Southampton City, surrounded by servants and luxury. Despite that, I always preferred to cook his meals myself because I wan
ZoraI tried to hold myself together so I wouldn’t pass out from heartbreak, but the more I tried to stay calm and forget the situation, the more I remembered everything about Zayn that caused me even more pain.I went to my room and reached for my phone, disregarding the buzz it had made earlier. I turned on the mobile connection and opened my favorite social media platform, where I watched funny reels and memes. I wanted to keep myself busy with that so I could more easily forget the heart-wrenching betrayal. However, with each video I scrolled through, regardless of how funny and interesting it was, the only thing I could see and visualize was the scene of what had just transpired between me and Zayn a few minutes earlier. After struggling for almost twenty minutes on the platform, trying to engage with those videos, I finally logged out and flung my phone back on the couch, unable to stop the thoughts of my husband. The fact that he had just left without telling me his whereabouts
What happened, Daisy?" I asked her as she stared at the phone screen for a while after answering the call."Oh, it's my husband. He said he's returning tonight," Daisy replied and forced a smile at me."Alright. Let's wait for him then," I replied, sitting up so I wouldn't fall asleep."No, dear. You should sleep. He'll come late because their flight hasn't even taken off. He would have to call me when he's back," she replied."Alright then. Hopefully, he comes back safely. Goodnight," I responded and went to bed. A few minutes later, after going through her phone, Daisy went to their marital bedroom to sleep as well.I woke up after hearing some noise, and it was coming from the kitchen. I reached for my phone and powered it on. It was then that it dawned on me that it was already morning and that it was Daisy's maids who were making the sound in the kitchen as they were cooking.I rose from the bed and walked into the restroom to wash my face before strolling out to meet Daisy and h
ZORA"W - what do you mean by that statement, Zayn? Tell me it's a prank," I stuttered, completely stunned as my husband introduced the lady to us.The audacity stabbed deeply into my chest. How could he be so bold to say that to us even?"Don't act surprised, Zora. It's nothing new. Is it? You already knew there's no love in our union, but you overlooked it, forcing things that are not meant to be," Zayn remarked, worsening the pain I'm feeling."No, Zayn. There is love. I have loved you and will always do. What is it that I'm not doing right, Zayn?" I stuttered, my voice weak."Yes, I know Zora. But haven't you asked yourself if it's the same for me too? Come on, it has been a one-sided love. You should be grateful because I made it open to you that I'm no longer interested instead of keeping you in the marriage to torment you," he said, his voice bold and exuding authority. My throat felt so dry upon hearing that. Even Blake and Daisy, my friend, were shocked to their marrow as wel
