ZORA

"What are you doing, Zora?" Daisy asked me as she approached. Her face was laced with disappointment.

"At least accept the offer. You can't just spend three years with him only to leave with nothing. Please rethink. Go back and collect those documents," she urged me.

"I really understand you, Daisy, but I'm not interested in the offer. I loved Zayn with my whole heart and not because of his status. Please just let me have my way to my room so I could get my things and leave."

Hearing this, Daisy couldn't help but coldly walk out of the way for me.

"I really appreciate your kindness towards me, but I'm not really interested in any of his offers," I told her and proceeded to my room while she sluggishly left.

A few minutes later, I was done packing my luggage, and I stormed out of the room, heading downstairs to leave the house.

Upon walking down, Daisy and her husband weren't there anymore. Zayn and Paige were the only ones who remained, as they were busy playing lovebirds and discussing. They didn't even notice my presence until I pulled the door open and walked out.

However, as I walked out and made my way to the gate, I was surprised to see Blake and Daisy as they leaned on their car discussing. I thought they had left.

As soon as they saw me, Daisy rushed after me and helped me carry one of my luggage. "We were actually waiting for you. Is this all your property?" she asked, and I nodded in affirmation.

"We couldn't stand it anymore to stay in there and witness the nuisance Zayn was constituting, so we decided to wait outside," she added, and I chuckled.

"Stay strong, Zora. I and Daisy actually discussed accommodating you in our home until you're fit to rent an apartment," Blake said after he was done arranging my items in the boot. At first, I thought they wanted to give me a lift to my destination, but I was wrong.

I felt really emotional because I never expected this from them. I was actually wondering how to rent a house all of a sudden and where to get the money because I hadn't been paid this month's salary. I've spent almost all my previous paycheck buying food items in the house, not knowing this was what would happen.

"Thank you so much, Blake. I honestly don't know how to thank you both," I said, tears welling up in my eyes.

Daisy didn't waste time to hug me and dabbed my cheeks with her bare hands. "Stop crying, Zora. You've cried enough for someone who doesn't deserve you," she said.

The servants watched emotionally as we hugged each other. Daisy didn't even know when she started sobbing.

About ten seconds later, we finally let go of each other.

"We will really miss you, Miss Zora," one of the servants said. "You're the only person who makes our stay here lively."

"I don't like this new lady. From her looks and appearance, no doubt she'd be wicked," another person chipped in.

"I will as well miss you all, but I can't prevent this. I wish it's not happening," I responded and went to them, hugging them one after another.

"Hopefully, she doesn't treat you all bad. I'll always remember you," I said and then turned to meet Daisy and her husband in the car.

The servants stood, waving me goodbye as we drove out of the compound.

A few minutes later, we were already in front of Blake's home. However, as soon as we drove in, my phone started ringing. With curiosity, I took it out and glared at the screen, only to notice it was my boss from the office.

Without hesitation, I picked up the call and placed the phone on my right ear. "Hello. Good afternoon, sir," I greeted him.

"Good afternoon, Miss Ezrah," he replied and dragged in a long breath before continuing.

"I actually called you to inform you that we have decided to terminate your contract with us because of the recent incident that transpired in the office," he said, causing my pulse to pause for some seconds.

"What happened, sir? Why?" I asked him with a teary tone.

He sighed and was silent for a few seconds. "We've concluded that you know much about the missing fund in the office, and we have to act immediately to avoid such action repeating in the future in order to protect our reputation," he stated, and he hung up the call immediately without even letting me utter a word.

I froze instantly. This was the least of the news I was expecting to hear. Not even now I was down to the lowest. What would I use to care for myself now? I couldn't believe I was sacked over an issue that I even fought against.

I fought those responsible for the embezzlement, but due to a lack of enough proof, I couldn't expose them on time until they succeeded with their plan.

It was later they realized I was about to expose them that they teamed up and framed me as the one responsible for the missing fund.

"What is that, Zora? Talk to us," Daisy urged me.

"I've lost my job," I responded coldly. "I don't even know what to do at this point. Maybe ending it all is the best option."

"No dear. You will get another job. Don't think it's over. It'll surely come to pass," she encouraged me.

"Let's go in first so we can discuss better," Blake chipped in, patting me on the shoulder in consolation.

I managed to walk out of the car and then entered the house, even forgetting my luggage. It was Daisy and her husband that helped me bring them inside.

"Don't worry too much about all this, Zora, so it won't affect you. I'll always try to help in all aspects I can," Blake told me.

"For now, you should go in your room and bathe, then have enough sleep," he added.

I sighed heavily and gulped hard. "Thank you so much, sir. Honestly, I don't know what could have happened if not for you. May God continue blessing you abundantly," I said and stood up, heading to my room so I could sleep. I really needed it because my head was as if it was going to explode because of too much stress.

After walking halfway, I heard Daisy yell my name. "You forgot your phone here, and it's ringing," she said.

"Oh wow." I was excited, and a thought rang in my mind. "Maybe my boss had found out the truth, and he's calling to denounce his previous statements."

However, since I had no job, I always felt like a burden to them, even though Daisy would tell me not to worry about it.At one point, her husband promised to secure me a job in one of his companies, which would take some months, if not a year, after they had made some rearrangements. However, I decided to start a part-time job at one of the top restaurants in the city while waiting for the opportunity.Today started off hectic for me due to my pregnancy issue. I wasn't feeling well, but I decided to manage and go to work since I hadn't requested leave yesterday. My senior colleagues and boss might think I intentionally chose not to come to work.As I walked in and went to the dressing room to put on my uniform, a colleague knocked on

Five Years Later"Mommy, are you not going to work today?" I could hear my daughter ask while I was sleeping.I slowly opened my eyes, and there she was, trying to put on her school clothes. A smile forced its way across my lips as I saw the effort she was putting into dressing herself but couldn't.I glanced at the clock and panicked in shock, "Oh my goodness." I never knew it was already 7:30 a.m."I instantly jumped out of bed and took her to the restroom for a shower. I had worked so stressfully yesterday that I couldn't wake up early today, as usual, to prepare for work and drive my kid to school.A few minutes later, I finished bathing her and dressed her quickly before we headed to the garage to go to her school."Mommy, remember you promised to take me to the amusement park today after school? Are you still going to fulfill it?" She asked while I was driving."Of course,

Just then, a knock came on the door."Yes, who's there?" he asked, but no one responded. This infuriated Mr. Jason, and he sighed in annoyance, then turned and focused on me."I'm sorry, I guess I have started hallucinating."I chuckled in amusement. "Not at all, sir. I also heard the knock. Let's assume it's caused by the breeze. You know your office is the last on this floor," I replied, and he responded with a smile."So, like I was saying, you'll tell me the secret of this sudden beauty of yours. You're becoming more beautiful daily," he went on, causing me to blush."If you say so, sir. By the way, I applied some facial blush; maybe that's what's confusing you.""I'm old enough to differentiate lush beauty and natural beauty," he insisted, staring at me with admiration.I couldn't help but fix my gaze on the desk, as I was too shy to glare at him anymore."In honesty, your beauty is one of the key factors I don't miss work anymore."I couldn't help but start twitching my fingers i

On our way to Southampton City, I was chatting with Daisy, my friend, because Jason was the one driving.Daisy: "Are you really going to Southampton City?"Zora: "Yes, dear, I'm going for a quick lunch with some investors. There's nothing to be worried about. It's just business."Daisy: "Sigh. What if you meet an unwanted guest at the meeting?"I couldn't help but chuckle, and Jason noticed."What's amusing you this time?" His eyes locked on mine as he asked."It's my friend, actually. She said something funny," I replied, my smile broadening."I see," he chipped in and concentrated on the wheel while I replied to Daisy's question.Zora: "That's unlikely to happen, but even if it does, it doesn't affect me anymore as I have moved on."Daisy: "You're right. Riffraffs don't deserve your feelings anymore, as responsible men are queuing to be with you."I chuckled again unknowingly, noticing what she meant. My throat suddenly felt dry at his request. I was still uncomfortable being here today, and he's talking about bringing me here for the second time for a dinner."Erm, that would be great," I said, masking my emotions. "But honestly, you already know how busy I am lately, and I use weekends for my home chores and spending time with my girl.""Oh, alright. It's not a problem at all," Jason replied, smiling as if nothing had happened. To be honest, this is one of the reasons I like him; he never tries to force things on me or persuade me to accept his requests. He would just say it's fine and pretend as if nothing happened.Unless it's business-related, he would then look for a proper time to make the request for the second time, which I would hardly decline."So what would you like to drink while we wait for the Zech Holdings representatives?" he aske

However, my smile froze for some seconds as I and Zayn locked eyes. He's the one opposite Jason, and he's facing me."Zora! Finally, I found you," he said with excitement. The happiness was evident on his face, just like someone who had found a hidden treasure. My legs trembled, and I nearly lost my balance. I never expected this to happen. I didn't even know what to say at this point because I hadn't expected to hear that from him."Please, can we just focus on the reason we're here?" I said, trying to look serene, but deep down inside me, I was seething. ZORA —I was sitting on the pavement outside Daisy's friends — the albino twins' house, waiting for Daisy and her husband to pull up so we could storm in and get clear information about who was the man they told me Daisy left with at the school. While waiting for them, I took out my phone and began logging in to all my social media platforms, searching for blogs to find out if there had been news of a missing girl, but throughout the whole platform, none of the blogs had carried such news today.I let out an exasperated sigh, my gaze downcast with my hand on my jaw.I gazed at my wristwatch. It was already 5:45 P.M., and there was no sign of my daughter being found.I held my head in agony. Gosh, why didn't the person who kidnapped her kidnap me instead? What use will Daisy be to him except he's an organ harvester?"God forbid!" I exclaimed, rebuking that thought.
