AITHNE'S POV
Against our better judgement, one of the rogue wolves had dared to attack Majesty on seeing she was set to attack their injured leader again. His canine sank deeply into her hind feet, tearing against flesh and probably dislocating a bone and causing us to experience a sudden, excruciating pain. Majesty howled into the dark night, totally shocked and enraged by the sudden unpredicted attack. Odin's wolf heard her howl and through our mate bond, he felt the pang of pains that came with our injury. Majesty turned around to the brown wolf who had attacked us, red blood trailing her left hind and giving her snowy fur a bloody look. But before she could get us vengeance, a huge grey wolf appeared like a flash and sank his canines into the mane of the brown wolf, tearing flesh, twisting bones, drawing out blood and rendering him immobile within seconds. Odin's gaze met mine through the eyes of our wolves, and I could feel his worries and fears (because of our injury) the moment his wolf had tossed the dead werewolf a few paces behind. 'Odin I'm f...' My intended words through telepathy caught within me as the loudest of howls escaped Majesty's throat.No. No, not him...please, not Odin. How it happened I can't explain, but this sight was something I'd never be able to get out of my head. Dyson's dying wolf had somehow crept behind us and had sent a powerful, killing slash of claws towards Majesty's side and shoulder but somehow, Odin had seen his aim and his wolf had jumped in, shielding Majesty with his body, thereby taking the hit of the black rogue wolf's vicious claws. And It happened so freaking fast. So fast that Majesty and I weren't spared a second to even react. 'Odin!!!!' I screamed telepathically as I watched his wolf collapsed to the ground weakly. Majesty whimpered as panic set in. And she grew restless as she tried to nuzzle her mate's weak body. 'Odin,' I pleaded tugging at his subconscious desperately, not willing to entertain the dread that seemed to be fast approaching. 'Are you alright? Please tell me you're fine!' I cried. 'W-wa...watch out...' He warned, and my fears grew bigger as I felt our mate bond weakened. 'Oh, Odin,' I cried. Even right now, in such a situation, he was still trying to protect me. Majesty's attempt at nuzzling Odin's wolf was interrupted because of his warning... The black rogue wolf was trying to attack again. With a vengeance that shock the entire forest, Majesty leaned back up and countered the rogue's attacks with her paws. But he somehow got a hold on her other hind feet, clawing at it viciously, leaving a long, deep trail of his claws on it and making us screech because of the terrific pain. *Enough, Majesty. He must die.* I said to her and I felt her agreement the next second. With every strength left she could muster, she charged at him, aiming for his head this time. And the instant she got a hold of him, her paws clasped around his neck firmly and with a powerful twist, she sent him sprawling against the floor, cold and lifeless. A howl of victory erupted from her the moment Dyson's life left him. Now in his human form before he breathed his last, his eyes held shock and bewilderment, his neck disjointed and contorted in an unimaginable manner. He clearly hadn't imagined he would ever meet his demise in such a way. I scanned around the moderate clearing and all my eyes saw was blood and dead bodies all over the forest. Then I saw them _the five pack warriors that had accompanied me_ all bloodied in their human forms, lying still and lifeless. No one had survived from the ambush, not even any of the rogue wolves survived. And my heart broke once again... 'M-M.A.T.E' Majesty whimpered again, turning around swiftly in his direction, ignoring the sharp pains at her hinds at every leap she took back to her mate. But he was transforming back to his human form... Which meant he was dying... Odin was dying. It was the slowest transition I had ever witnessed, the slowest he had ever transitioned before. And he was in so much pain... A heart-wrecking howl emanated from the depths of Majesty's being as she mourned her mate. And in that moment, I knew we would mourn him for long, if not forever... Slowly, I transitioned as well. And just as Odin's had been, it was the slowest I had ever transitioned, Majesty's injured hinds making it even more painful for us, coupled with Odin's pain. "Odin," I cried as my weak knees gave way beneath me and I collapsed on the floor beside him. I reached out my hands to him just as the last of Majesty's claws retracted within me. "M-my...my l-love... I'm..." He coughed out blood and tears ran down my cheeks, I could feel our mate bond snapping off slowly, breaking my heart forever with it. "Sshh!" I shushed him, caressing his messy brown hair on my bloodied laps. "I know, my love. I'm so sorry and I'm so grateful." My tears fell on his chest as I leaned down and planted one last kiss on his lips. "Thank you for everything." I sobbed. And he tried to smile as his fingers slowly wiped a falling tear off my eyes. "I...I love you Carida, a-always." He said and while I sobbed, his gorgeous eyes and handsome face became immobile. His hand fell from my face loosely to his side and remained motionless, just as the last bits of our mate bond snapped off entirely and instantly. And suddenly, I felt empty inside. It was an unwelcomed feeling I had never imagined or experienced. A feeling I would never get used to. I felt Majesty stirred within me, trying to console me as much as she could console herself. "Odin!" I screamed, picking his now cold and stiff hands and clasping my warm ones around them. "Oh, my love." Tears clouded my vision as I cradle him to my chest and wailed. "W-why...why so cold already my darling? It must be really cold out there, right?" A strangled sob erupted from my chest as I burst into tears. "No!" "Odin!!!"AITHNE'S POV "Make way! Hey you, quickly call Jeyre here. Tell her to come over the med house immediately. The lady needs her. Also, send word to the Alpha of the current situation." Someone yelled frantically and pantingly, giving out orders while moving in hurried strides as though he was in a rush. Wait, where am I? The last I remembered, I was holding Odin's body to myself before I had slipped into an unconscious state due to the overwhelming pains on my thighs and legs. Dyson's and his surbodinate's clawing on Majesty had certainly reflected greatly on my human body the moment I had transitioned. And the impact of it was a terribly bothersome sight to the eyes... I was hurted and I was bleeding profusely from the injuries I sustained during the fight. I couldn't contain the horrifying pain that came with Odin's death, and neither was my body able to withstand the pain from my wounds any longer, resulting in my fainting... For how long I was in that state, I couldn't tell.
AITHNE'S POV "..." I opened my mouth to talk but words failed me. "Y-y-y-ou..." A miserable stutter was all I could get out.*Don't let her get to you!**She's the one who's supposed to be cowering with shame and fear right now! And she would, once she's exposed.* I shut my eyes briefly and took in a sharp breath. Majesty has been forced to motion within me because of Varda's words. I won't let her do this to me -- to us. How dare her conclude on my matter like that, without an examination or treatment by a physician yet? She must be really insane to think of such a thing. Wouldn't the moon goddess be so cruel if that was really my situation? "You don't get to say that to me." I finally said, looking her directly in the eyes. "You have no right to conclude about my abilities when I haven't even been examined by the physicians!" I yelled. "Oh," Varda's lower lip pursed outwards in an attempt at a pout. "Oh, my dear." She paused, "I'm sorry I must have hurt you wi
AITHNE'S POV "What?!" Father uttered, his blue eyes wide open as he stared at the physician in disbelief. "Reynold, what did you just say?" He thundered. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I listened to physician Reynold repeat the same words he had told me only moments ago, to my father. "I'm sorry, My Alpha." Reynold bowed. "The lady has lost her chance to walk again because of the multiple damages in either of her calf bones. It would have been corrected if she had been rescued earlier. Now it's impossible to treat as it's too late for a surgery correction. Also, if she tries to shift in the future, it would cause her death." He carefully repeated, his head still bowed. I watched Father turned to look at me and I saw the faintest hint of tears gathering in his usually sparkly blue eyes. We were in the private room in the clinic and Jeyre -- my personal maid and closest companion was with me. I was seated on a wheelchair --damn, how I hate that fact-- and her hands were ge
AITHNE'S POV A teary smile reflected on my face as I trailed a sentence in the novel I was holding with a finger, my eyes taking in every word in it. The novel was one of the series in Odin's favorite collection. I was in the library -- my comfort haven in recent times -- in my father's castle, away from the gossipy eyes and hushed whispers of the servants and pack members as well. For about a month, this had been my routine every morning. I was existing but not living. I had nothing left, nothing at all... Varda took everything from me. Including the last hope I had left. She took away my dreams, my future and my happiness. She didn't spare me even the bliss of being an only child. She didn't let me be my father's daughter anymore. Somehow, she had succeeded in ruining my life, no doubt. But it was all so maddeningly humiliating because there was nothing I could do to stop her... nothing at all. I sighed, wiping tears from my eyes and closing the book the moment I
AITHNE'S POV I had decided to use myself as an evidence to my father in hopes that he would believe me but he had suddenly became too busy to see me, after I was discharged from the clinic and now at home, here in the castle he lived. Yet, I wasn't able to see my father. I was now living a depressed lifestyle, subjecting to my room and personal library only. Initially, I had taken several trips to town but the false story of my brave rescue of Morwen filled the air and the losses I had suffered as a result of my 'supposed' bravery, only earned me the sympathetic looks of the werewolves' society. I was fed up with Varda's and Morwen's false display of loyalty and care towards the entire members of Mooncrest Pack. I was irritated that I had become the gossip of society. And many were already saying I couldn't be the leader of the pack in future because of my permanent disability. Varda had been right when she told me that I would only end up ridiculing my father if I
AITHNE'S POV I was silent for a little longer than necessary, as I pondered on Majesty's words. It's obvious she's had enough of this environment as well. Mooncrest has become an unfamiliar place for us since the death of our mate. *Are you sure?* I finally said. *There's.. nothing.. here.. for.. us.. anymore.. I.. want.. to.. leave..* *But what about father?* I reminded. *We'd.. come.. back.. certainly. But.. only.. after.. a.. long.. time.. so.. we.. can.. heal. Mooncrest.. doesn't.. feel.. like.. home.. anymore. It's.. now.. toxic.. and.. not.. good.. for.. you.. for.. us.* *Majesty, are you sure?* I repeated. *I.. am.. certain.. But.. I.. don't.. think.. you.. are.* She's right. I'm not as sure or convinced about this as she is. I sighed, outwardly. *I would think about it.* I finally said. *Father.. would.. be.. fine. I'm.. sure.. Untill.. we.. return.. at.. least.. he.. should.. be.. fine.* She reassured. Jeyre leaned off me and grinned. "You were
AITHNE'S POV "My lady," I raised my gaze from the book I was reading and turned to Jeyre beside me. "We've arrived at the border of Fieryflames Pack, Eris must return now before your absence is noticed." She continued and I nodded. "I agree." I said, just as a footman came and opened the carriage door and Jeyre alighted. "My apologies, my lady." Eris appeared in front of the open carriage and bowed to the waist at me. "It would have been a pleasure to see you through to your destination but I must return to Mooncrest and report my presence before the Alpha." "I understand," I smiled. "Thanks for your selfless services to me and my late mate so far. Your efforts would never be forgotten, Eris." "It's been a pleasure to serve you as well, my lady." Eris lifted his gaze towards his sister briefly. "Thanks for looking after my sister and I and giving us a home even after the death of our mother." He paused, and Jeyre looked emotional. "Your absence at the pack house would b

"I mean, it's way too obvious given your fashion sense." 'By the goddess!'I swore internally and I felt Majesty's mocking chuckle within me. 'I see what you're doing.' I telepathically retorted at her. 'Remind me to go shopping with Jeyre immediately we get ought of here.' The curious waitress was still talking. AITHNE'S POVSeeing Jeyre's unusual reaction to my touch stunned me greatly. It was weird and she looked so scared even I was forced to feel the emotion. And Majesty? I could sense an unusual euphoric vibe from her. Why's she so happy? I wondered. In the moment of my thoughts, memories from the previous night came to me. One moment I had been staring out the window, reflecting on my own thoughts and the next moment I had danced with ethereal beings, standing on two very healthy legs! My own legs! What by the goddess happened to me during those moments? I had no idea. But I could as well find out by myself. And that, right now. My eyes widened and anticipation filled my soul as I glanced over my body. Just as Jeyre had said, I looked different and there seemed to be a ghost trail of smoke emanating from my finger tips. My eyes trailed the rest of my body from my wrist to my hair and down to my legs. And then, I paused.Does this mean I could walk again? And shift also? The momen
NARRATIVE “My King, what’s wrong? Are you alright? Did I do something wrong?” The silver blond inquired the moment she regained her balance after the rough manner she had fallen previously, a hint of fear and worry obvious in her violet eyes and facial expression. “It is nothing of your concern.” Cyne said tersely, not giving her a glance as he helped himself into his loose pair of pants. After briefly examining the scene around him seconds later, an obvious result of their intense moment some minutes ago, Cyne stood up from the bed, flexing his powerful muscles a little before grabbing his shirt from a nearby couch. “Nikoli would take you home. Your service here is done for now, Isobel.” The words easily rolled off his tongue as he made for the door. However, he paused on his elegant strides and turned around to the unclad female, sparing her a brief once-over glance. “And note, you must not come around on your own anymore,” he said and Isobel’s brows rose in question. “I woul
NARRATIVE It was way past noon when Aithne and Jeyre returned to their new home; a little lovely cottage, located in a small forest not quite far from the heart of the city. This was the first place Aithne searched for upon their arrival at the capital city. The cottage was precious to her, having a part of her dearest memories and thus Aithne had hoped she could still locate it and nothing would have changed about it in its own side of the city, given the vast redevelopment that had occured over the years in almost all the areas of Elgarion. It was the house where she had lodged with her parents when they had visited this city several years back. And by some miracle which she was greatly thankful for, the cottage was still intact as well as its nearby environs. The owner had clearly made much efforts to maintain it and ensuring its condition was exactly as it had been twelve years ago. And it seemed as though the owner was waiting for the real owner or as though
AITHNE'S POV "EWE? Is this the place?" Jeyre asked as she helped me alight from the huge transportation medium I just learned was a bus. There's so much to learn in this city and about this city. Its advancement was unimaginable over the years. To be honest, I didn't think the Alpha King to be young. I had imagined him to be a man in his late fifties of sixties like my father. And was actually taken aback when I confirmed my suspicion of him being the Alpha King. I wondered if he had been the Alpha King for a long time already and if he was the force behind this massive technological and infrastructural advancement in the Capital City. "Aithne, I'm so happy you chose to come to Elgarion." Jeyre suddenly said, excitment clear in her voice while helping me settle into my wheelchair again. "I know right," I smiled, loving the way the wind gently toyed with my hair and enjoying the feel of the evening breeze on my skin. "I'm so glad, my lady." She stood behind me and placed h
AITHNE'S POV From the corner of my eyes I could see he was getting closer and closer, his graceful strides covering the distance between him and Regan who was still standing beside our table-- whose warm, cheerful expression, I observed, became clouded at the sight of the man. Well, why not... Even an Alpha would tremble at the recognition of the Alpha King talk more of an... I observed Regan once more. I could sense a strong aura around him but I couldn't place his goddess given identity. Hmm, regardless... I think it's okay to be this way. But why would the great Alpha King of Elgarion, ruler of the mighty Crystal-Moon Dynasty, visit this restaurant? Well, that's because...*Focus..Aithne.. Focus* Majesty chided.*Yeah, right. What am I even doing?* I decided to ignore such thoughts and focus on my current situation. Whatever the case may be, the owners must be honoured to have him visit their coast. But why do I feel Regan seems displeased by his presence? Even though he h
