AITHNE'S POV

The sky was a blanket of darkness when I set out for Alsernia, the forest of doom, as it's renowned.

I was accompanied by my mate _ Odin, as well as five of the pack's strongest warriors I had selected, as my father had allowed.

And as Majesty led us through the highs and lows of the pathway to Alsernia, I was reclined in her subconscious, reflecting on my passionate but brief lovemaking with Odin before we had left Mooncrest pack's territory.

Majesty purred in agreement of my reverie, as she tilted her head longingly towards the big wolf moving in similar pace beside us.

Odin's wolf was huge, grey and strong. His strides were confident and almost graceful.

Although he was bigger than the regular warrior wolves, my wolf _ Majesty, was still slightly bigger and stronger than him. My Alpha title explains the difference in our abilities better.

This fact was never a problem for us because it's no news how fiercely and passionately I love and respect him. I love him with every fiber of my being and with such powerful tenacity that never ceases to amaze many.

And Odin loves and adores me even more and he made sure I know. He's proven himself worthy of my love in many different ways.

In no distance time, we arrived at our destination and Majesty halted her pace and the five escort wolves halted as well, few steps behind us.

Alsernia was located between Mooncrest Pack and Fieryflames Pack. It was more like a boundary between both territories.

However, there was a different pathway most travellers, the omegas most likely _ with little or no strength to ward off unforeseen attacks from wandering rogues _pass through to avoid using the route of the renowned forest.

And though it was late in the night, it didn't affect our sights; as werewolves have the special ability of clear and sharp foresight.

We had arrived at a moderate clearing in the middle of the forest and Majesty sniffed the air and earth for the umpteenth time for any possible hint of Morwen's scent but she got nothing in return. It was as though he hadn't neared this vicinity at all.

She was about setting off into another direction in search of him when we were suddenly surrounded by a pack of snarling and vicious looking rogue wolves.

.....

My eyes narrowed through the eyes of my wolf as we stared challengingly at the obvious leader of the intruders.

His hazel-grey eyes looked vaguely familiar...

But perhaps, because he was in his wolf form, I couldn't recall where I had seen him and not even Majesty could recall.

As if reading my thoughts, the rogue wolf retreated backwards and within a few seconds, transformed into a very familiar but unwelcomed face.

Now in his human form, how could I not tell who he was?

The stupid bastard... How dare he show up in front of me?!

And suddenly, he smirked. A very wicked smirk I haven't seen in over three years.

Majesty's paws gravel the soft earth slowly, she was trying to keep still from instantly attacking him for my sake.

Dyson -The banished gamma.

"Well, well," he began, approaching us with such familiar menacing pace. "If it isn't our pretty little, Aithne." He paused, tilting his head to the side as if remembering something. "Or should I say, Majesty?"

Majesty let out a low warning growl the moment her name left his lips. He dared to say her name when no one else other than Odin, our mate, had that permission...

And as expected, his arrogance and menacing approach caused Odin's wolf to growl loudly in disapproving anger and irritation over the condescending manner this intruder dared to talk to us.

But this face wasn't unfamiliar to him either. And as such, he also tried to keep his cool. Instead, he took a few steps forward, ready to protectively defend us if needed.

And this made me proud of him yet again.

"Would you transform, sweet little Aithne..." Dyson's voice was laced with malicious mischief. "...so I could see your gorgeous face one last time before you're dead? Or would you rather __" He eyed Majesty condescendingly, "...communicate with me as 'Her Majesty, the all powerful heir of our wonderful Alpha?" He continued sarcastically.

At this point, Odin was raving mad and it took all the self control he could muster to stop his wolf from charging forward and throwing Dyson against a tree trunk. I could feel his rage through our mate bond. And I was equally fed up with Dyson's disrespect.

I felt a tug at the back of my mind and I recognized it instantly. Odin was trying to get to Majesty through our mate bond.

'It's alright, my love. I got this,' I said telepathically to him via our mind link.

'Are you sure?' He returned, and Majesty tilted her head in his direction. Her blue eyes locked with his, silently communicating with him and he understood. Words were no longer necessary because we understood each other that deeply.

Majesty returned her gaze to Dyson. His lips were now curved up in a lazy smirk as his eyes scrutinize us, making Majesty extremely irritated.

*It's okay, Majesty. Now let me handle him.*

I said and she understood, her silence indicating she was ready to retreat inside and let me out. Well, temporally, because it's obvious Dyson didn't ambush us for just a chitchat.

And if necessary that we must indulge in exchange of blows, Majesty was the one best capable in handling a vicious rogue werewolf as himself.

.....

"Awwn, our darling Aithne is still as gorgeous as ever, isn't that right?" Dyson said, the moment I had transitioned to my human form, as his hazel-grey eyes roam my body lustfully. He was definitely undressing me with his eyes...

Hmmph...The fool! How thankful I am I wasn't naked, otherwise, I would have been food for his lustful eyes.

"The nerve of you Dyson," I began, my finger lazily coiling a strand of my long black curls. "I must say I admire that stupid wit you think you carry around you. It's clear you've not yet learned your lesson properly." I let my gaze level at a very notable and ugly scar on his cheek__an obvious mark of Majesty's victory over him during a duel few years back. "I say, the scar I see on your right cheek should have thought you some manners at least."

"Don't you dare, Seraphina!" He thundered and I scoffed.

"I see I hit a very sensitive spot, Dyson." I sighed dramatically. "You see, you're the least person I ever want to see again. You were banished by the Alpha because of your treasonous heart. Why, by the goddess, do you think you still stand a chance against me? You've certainly not learnt properly. And I assure you, if you don't get yourself and your pathetic pack of rogues off my sight this instant, you and them all would be the one facing your demise."

"Hahaha!" Dyson bursted into a fit of scornful laughter.

"My, my," I clicked my tongue pathetically at him. "Now you've also gone crazy."

"Oh dear, you're still as sharp-tongued as ever, Aithne Seraphina Luwen. How wonderful though, your sharp tongue must have also gotten you on the bad side of Varda."

Varda??

"How do you mean? Do you now dare to blaspheme against the chosen Luna of Mooncrest Pack as well?"

"Oh pleaseeee," Dyson scoffed. "You and I know that you've never considered her anything other than a pathetic attempt of a replacement for Ares, your darling late mother."

My hands dropped to my side loosely, my teeth gritting tightly at the hurt and truth of his words. But I won't let him win! Not when we have the company of the Pack's warriors, who shouldn't be hearing such conversations.

I crossed my arms beneath my chest and smirked at him, tilting my head slightly and narrowing my gaze at him.

"Y-you are spewing nonsense. And as I'm sure you don't know, I have a mission I must accomplish here in Alsernia. And you..." I gave my fiercest of glares at him, "...are in my way!"

"You mean you're looking for Morwen." He stated as a matter of fact, stunning me silly.

How did he know? Or does he still have spies in the Alpha's court? Or perhaps...

"And how did you know that?" I frowned. "Don't tell me you're holding him hostage."

"You wish," he smirked and I lost my patience.

"What ever is your deal, Dyson? Stop wasting my time! I'm certainly loosing my cool!"

"You should, my darling." He uttered, the playful teasing in his voice gone, now replaced by a strange note of seriousness and intentionality.

"What?!"

"Because none of you all are leaving here alive today." His words caused the pack warriors to simultaneously burst into a rage of snarling and howling, even Majesty stirred in my head. It was clear she's lost all her patience and couldn't continue keeping still letting him insult and belittle us.

AITHNE'S POV Although I was enraged by Dyson's disrespect, I managed to stay cool because I need to hear it all. I need to know what he's up to, what this is about, so I'd know why he even bothered to ambush us. Dyson of course, noticed the change in the atmosphere but he still continued. "You see, all this is Varda's plan." My blood went still the instant I heard those words. I didn't realize Varda hated me this much. "But my darling Aithne, I'm glad to help her as well. It's no news how much I hate Alpha Demak and unfortunately, you had to be his heir. Therefore you're an obstacle to me, and of course, I must get rid of you." He paused dramatically, looking lost in his own thoughts. "When Varda came to me for help with a generous amount of silver, I was excited and instantly ready to do her bidding. AITHNE'S POV Against our better judgement, one of the rogue wolves had dared to attack Majesty on seeing she was set to attack their injured leader again. His canine sank deeply into her hind feet, tearing against flesh and probably dislocating a bone and causing us to experience a sudden, excruciating pain. Majesty howled into the dark night, totally shocked and enraged by the sudden unpredicted attack. Odin's wolf heard her howl and through our mate bond, he felt the pang of pains that came with our injury. Majesty turned around to the brown wolf who had attacked us, red blood trailing her left hind and giving her snowy fur a bloody look. But before she could get us vengeance, a huge grey wolf appeared like a flash and sank his canines into the mane of the brown wolf, tearing flesh, twisting bones, drawing out blood and rendering him immobile within seconds. Odin's gaze met mine through the eyes of our wolves, and I could feel his worries and fears (because of our injury)

Someone yelled frantically and pantingly, giving out orders while moving in hurried strides as though he was in a rush. Wait, where am I? The last I remembered, I was holding Odin's body to myself before I had slipped into an unconscious state due to the overwhelming pains on my thighs and legs. Dyson's and his surbodinate's clawing on Majesty had certainly reflected greatly on my human body the moment I had transitioned. And the impact of it was a terribly bothersome sight to the eyes... I was hurted and I was bleeding profusely from the injuries I sustained during the fight. I couldn't contain the horrifying pain that came with Odin's death, and neither was my body able to withstand the pain from my wounds any longer, resulting in my fainting... For how long I was in that state, I couldn't tell.

AITHNE'S POV "..." I opened my mouth to talk but words failed me. "Y-y-y-ou..." A miserable stutter was all I could get out.*Don't let her get to you!**She's the one who's supposed to be cowering with shame and fear right now! And she would, once she's exposed.* I shut my eyes briefly and took in a sharp breath. Majesty has been forced to motion within me because of Varda's words. I won't let her do this to me -- to us. How dare her conclude on my matter like that, without an examination or treatment by a physician yet? She must be really insane to think of such a thing. Wouldn't the moon goddess be so cruel if that was really my situation? "You don't get to say that to me." I finally said, looking her directly in the eyes. "You have no right to conclude about my abilities when I haven't even been examined by the physicians!" I yelled. "Oh," Varda's lower lip pursed outwards in an attempt at a pout. "Oh, my dear." She paused, "I'm sorry I must have hurt you wi

AITHNE'S POV "What?!" Father uttered, his blue eyes wide open as he stared at the physician in disbelief. "Reynold, what did you just say?" He thundered. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I listened to physician Reynold repeat the same words he had told me only moments ago, to my father. "I'm sorry, My Alpha." Reynold bowed. "The lady has lost her chance to walk again because of the multiple damages in either of her calf bones. It would have been corrected if she had been rescued earlier. Now it's impossible to treat as it's too late for a surgery correction. Also, if she tries to shift in the future, it would cause her death." He carefully repeated, his head still bowed. I watched Father turned to look at me and I saw the faintest hint of tears gathering in his usually sparkly blue eyes. We were in the private room in the clinic and Jeyre -- my personal maid and closest companion was with me. I was seated on a wheelchair --damn, how I hate that fact-- and her hands were ge

AITHNE'S POV A teary smile reflected on my face as I trailed a sentence in the novel I was holding with a finger, my eyes taking in every word in it. The novel was one of the series in Odin's favorite collection. I was in the library -- my comfort haven in recent times -- in my father's castle, away from the gossipy eyes and hushed whispers of the servants and pack members as well. For about a month, this had been my routine every morning. I was existing but not living. I had nothing left, nothing at all... Varda took everything from me. Including the last hope I had left. She took away my dreams, my future and my happiness. She didn't spare me even the bliss of being an only child. She didn't let me be my father's daughter anymore. Somehow, she had succeeded in ruining my life, no doubt. But it was all so maddeningly humiliating because there was nothing I could do to stop her... nothing at all. I sighed, wiping tears from my eyes and closing the book the moment I

NARRATIVE “My King, what’s wrong? Are you alright? Did I do something wrong?” The silver blond inquired the moment she regained her balance after the rough manner she had fallen previously, a hint of fear and worry obvious in her violet eyes and facial expression. “It is nothing of your concern.” Cyne said tersely, not giving her a glance as he helped himself into his loose pair of pants. After briefly examining the scene around him seconds later, an obvious result of their intense moment some minutes ago, Cyne stood up from the bed, flexing his powerful muscles a little before grabbing his shirt from a nearby couch. “Nikoli would take you home. Your service here is done for now, Isobel.” The words easily rolled off his tongue as he made for the door. However, he paused on his elegant strides and turned around to the unclad female, sparing her a brief once-over glance. “And note, you must not come around on your own anymore,” he said and Isobel’s brows rose in question. “I woul

NARRATIVE It was way past noon when Aithne and Jeyre returned to their new home; a little lovely cottage, located in a small forest not quite far from the heart of the city. This was the first place Aithne searched for upon their arrival at the capital city. The cottage was precious to her, having a part of her dearest memories and thus Aithne had hoped she could still locate it and nothing would have changed about it in its own side of the city, given the vast redevelopment that had occured over the years in almost all the areas of Elgarion. It was the house where she had lodged with her parents when they had visited this city several years back. And by some miracle which she was greatly thankful for, the cottage was still intact as well as its nearby environs. The owner had clearly made much efforts to maintain it and ensuring its condition was exactly as it had been twelve years ago. And it seemed as though the owner was waiting for the real owner or as though

AITHNE'S POV "EWE? Is this the place?" Jeyre asked as she helped me alight from the huge transportation medium I just learned was a bus. There's so much to learn in this city and about this city. Its advancement was unimaginable over the years. To be honest, I didn't think the Alpha King to be young. I had imagined him to be a man in his late fifties of sixties like my father. And was actually taken aback when I confirmed my suspicion of him being the Alpha King. I wondered if he had been the Alpha King for a long time already and if he was the force behind this massive technological and infrastructural advancement in the Capital City. "Aithne, I'm so happy you chose to come to Elgarion." Jeyre suddenly said, excitment clear in her voice while helping me settle into my wheelchair again. "I know right," I smiled, loving the way the wind gently toyed with my hair and enjoying the feel of the evening breeze on my skin. "I'm so glad, my lady." She stood behind me and placed h
