Everyone always talks about how their relationship is the best and how their partners treated them better than any other person would or how being in a relationship always makes them feel butterflies in their stomach. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for Megan Zendel, a twenty-five year old interior designer, who has been considered a remarkable beauty among her peers. With her long black hair, meadow green eyes, pointed nose, bow-shaped lips, and her five feet eight height together with her slim but well-shaped structure, she could easily pass as a runway model.
Despite her beauty, it seems like her boyfriend _ Brandon Keller still doesn't give her the attention she wants. Megan didn't know what to feel again, he always gives excuses like this anytime they want to meet. Recently it has become worse, 'I am sorry I have a business dinner this evening I won't be able to make it.' 'I have to go on a business trip I would be very busy, don't call me.' 'I just got an important contract I won't make it to dinner tonight.' Megan was getting fed up, she supported him with her all, but he had been ignoring her for months now. Megan and Brandon have known each other for four years and have been dating for three years now and he has never really had time for her like a boyfriend is supposed to have for his girlfriend. He hardly kisses her, only mostly when he is drunk he would touch her, he has never been intimate with her and when she tries to make a move he would pull back, kiss her cheek, and tells her to let them get married first. He always tells her they will get married and that she should be patient first and let him be successful enough to reach her standard. She has never met any of his friends. He does not want them to steal her away from him, he would tell her. He doesn't forget to tell her how special she was to him. Megan loved him mostly because of the fact that he didn't approach her for her money like other men did, even after he found out after some months of dating that her father was a rich man, he didn't ask her for business favors it was Megan who told her father to invest in his company so that he would marry her quickly but ever since his business started excelling he never had time again for her and like now listening to him on the phone making another excuse. "So when are you going to come over?" She asks him over the phone. "Next week Wednesday" He replied with that deep voice that always makes her insides churn but today it didn't. "Okay then, bye." "Megan darling I..." She didn't allow him to finish his speech as she cut the call she tossed her phone on the bed. She stood up walked over to her floor-to-ceiling window and gazed out the night view of her 20th-floor penthouse. She remembers the time he used to come over to her house. They would admire the view together with his hands wrapped around her waist from behind sometimes drinking champagne and afterward he would kiss her till she was left breathless. Now gazing out the night view, she misses him so much that it hurts. Tomorrow was an important day, so she would sleep and think about this later. Megan's eyes fluttered open as she stretched her body. But she noticed something strange, light was spilling out from the curtains. She stopped stretching turned to her side and searched for her alarm by her bedside table when she touched it, she checked the time it was 9:36, and she immediately bolted out of the bed. "Oh my God!" She screamed standing up at a speed that she felt a bit dizzy, but she didn't mind it and rushed to the bathroom, she was so late and she had a very important client. Megan Zendel is an interior designer she recently started her own company one year ago and she has been trying without her father's help she wanted to achieve it all on her own and they got an important deal from a very influential client to design his newly bought house and they were to meet at 9:30 and she was already late. Megan finished in fifteen minutes which was a new record time for her, she hastily packed her hair in a high ponytail, checking the mirror she saw it was neat, and rushed out of her apartment. When she reached her company, she quickly got out of her car and ran inside leaving her car parked outside, Mr Thomas the security man would take care of it for her. As soon as she reached her office, her secretary, Julie, rushed to her. "It's ten o clock, why are you just coming now?" "Has he arrived yet?" She asked. "Yes since 9:30 and he is inside waiting for you. What took you so long I called your phone and it was switched off." Megan remembered now that she had switched off her phone after Brandon tried calling her again and she forgot to even switch it on back or set her alarm since yesterday was Sunday and she had turned off her alarm. Well, she guessed it was all her fault. "I will answer that later. Bring coffee to my office." Why is he so punctual she thought. "Yes ma'am." She said and left. Megan reached the front of her door, took a deep breath opened the door, and entered. "Good morning Mr. Valenti, I am so sorry about the delay there was slight traffic, I hope you didn't wait too long?" She said as she walked to her desk and sat on her chair. "It's alright, Miss Zendel." His voice was deep and husky. She cleared her throat still not looking at him and continued in a professional tone. "I believe you just bought a house here in Los Angeles and you would like us to design it for you?" "Correct." "Is there any design or style you like or have in mind that you want us to do for you or would you like us to show you our design area?" "No" "No? Are you sure Mr Valenti" she asked puzzled finally looking at him, her green eyes colliding with his dark ones. "Yes, show me what you've got, after all, that is what you do miss Zendel." The intensity of his gaze made her flatter for a second, it was then she noticed how handsome he was. He has black hair but when near or under sunlight shows streaks of gold and his hair is slightly long but curled, he had an aquiline nose and dark eyebrows above dark eyes, he had a five o clock shadow and golden skin, from what her secretary told her he was Italian and his lips oh they looked so... Suddenly there was a knock at the door Megan looked up and Julie came in with two cups of coffee she dropped one in front of her and the other in front of Mr. Valenti and left the office. As she turned to face the handsome stranger sitting opposite her, she saw he was smirking and she flushed. Oh my, he must've known she was staring. Clearing her throat she spoke. "Excuse me for my rudeness. Would you like some coffee?" "No." He rose from his chair in his imposing six-foot-three and glanced down at her "I will send further instructions through my secretary." He said briskly. Megan stood up "Is that all sir?" She asked wondering why he was in a rush. At least many other clients will give her an idea of how they want their house to be, but he just seems like he doesn't care at all. "Yes, and I'm looking forward to working with you." He stretched out his large masculine hand. "My pleasure" She shook his hand and she felt a jolt of electricity pass through her and she quickly removed her hand, and seeing her reaction he smiled.Megan could not believe what was happening between her and this handsome strange man, he obviously knows she finds him attractive and is using it to taunt her. She does not know why she is behaving like this when she has a boyfriend maybe it is because Brandon is not paying much attention to her. "I can't believe I met Mr Valenti in person." Her secretary, Julie gushed sitting on the chair in her office after Mr Valenti left."Do you know him?" she asked and she mentally slapped herself for asking that type of question, of course, Julie literally knows every famous person on the internet, sometimes she even behaves like a stalker. "You mean, you do not know who he is?" Julie looked at her like she had gone mad."What?" Megan asked when she kept giving her that look. "You only told me that he was an important and influential person, you never really told me who he was, and stop looking at me like I am the dumbest person on earth. It's not like it is even that important" she said."Ts
It has been five months since she started decorating Mr Valenti's house and more offers have started coming in since then, so her team has been extremely busy, including her. Today she was decorating the living room and the dining room, she was supervising them in bringing in the pieces of furniture, and after today she would be 95% done. Mr Valenti is coming to see the house next week, he hasn't even come to check on the house or the progress since she started four months ago. However, since the last time she and Brandon fought, he has now had time for her, he still hasn't introduced her to any of his friends but he has been regularly taking her out more often than before and he has also apologized for not having much time for her and of course she had forgiven him instantly. She couldn't believe that she felt insecure for a moment. Her phone rang, she took it from her pocket and checked the caller and she smiled. She picked it up and moved to a corner. "Do you miss me that much?"
"Aargh!" Megan screamed as they both fell into the pool together. She could not swim, as she opened her mouth to tell Mr. Valenti, water filled her mouth. She struggled for breath and to stay afloat but she only drowned the more. A pair of hands wrapped around her waist and lifted her up and out of the pool. She was on the floor coughing and when it finally subsided, she looked up and he was looking at her. So he was the one who saved her, of course, it would be him as they were the only ones in here. His body was wet, his dark blue suit was soaked and his hair had fallen over his head. He was still looking like a Greek god. She wondered what she looked like. He crouched down to where she was sitting on the floor. "Are you alright?" He asked. "I'm fine." She told him while avoiding his eyes. She could not believe this happened to her client. How could she be so reckless? She questioned herself. He stood up at his full length. "What the hell were you doing walking around the edge of
"What did I always tell you about pools?" Julie yelled at her and smacked her in the hand."Ouch!" Megan whined, pouting pitifully, lowering her gaze."You know you can't swim but decided to explore near a pool. You should have called me to accompany you."She glanced at Julie still pouting. "You were busy, so how could I disturb you when I'm the one who sent you on the errand."Julie placed her hand on her head and sighed. She crouched down to examine her bandaged leg as Megan was sitting on the bed in the private room that Mr. Valenti, placed her in. "Does it hurt so much?" She asked worriedly and looked up at her.Megan shook her head but still answered. "No. It does not hurt me so much as when it freshly happened. But I can still walk out without a wheelchair. With some support though.""A wheelchair?"Megan nodded." Leonardo made me use one when we arrived at the hospital.""Leonardo? "She gasped with her eyes wide she stood up and sat on the bed beside her. "Are you on a first-n
After what happened in the hospital hallway. Julie took to her car and drove her home. As soon as they were inside Megan's house and she had settled down. Julie made a hot cup of coffee for her with enough cream. Julie handed the cup to her and she took it from her."Are you okay?" She asked. Her face was a mask of concern.Megan could only nod, she held the hot cup in her hand relishing in the distraction that came from the hotness of the cup."I knew that guy was a bastard and a good-for-nothing man. He had always been an asshole." She knew Julie was saying all those things so she would feel better. It helped though. However, she was too embarrassed and ashamed to even utter a word. She had just finished defending him a moment before that happened. How could she be so stupid and foolish? She lowered her head."Just say the word Megan and I will kill him. I will inject him with arsenic. Jail is not a problem for me to go to if my mother receives all my savings."Megan raised her head
The taxi stopped in front of the large and beautiful Italian restaurant. Megan paid the driver and got out of the taxi. The taxi sped off leaving her standing there. It has been a week since she saw Brandon in the hospital with that mysterious pregnant woman. He only called her once and she did not pick up, he did not bother to call her again, nor try to visit her since a week ago. How did she date that asshole for four years and think she was in love with him. Her leg has healed almost completely. Leonardo Valenti invited her for lunch at this nice Italian restaurant to apologize for what happened in his house since she said it was his fault. She felt sorry for blaming him now she has no choice but to accept his invitation for a meal together. Julie had strictly warned her not to drive, therefore the reason for the taxi.Megan was wearing a white blouson dress and a brown coloured trench coat, she wore a white sandal heel and carried a white purse. Her hair was in a messy bun. The he
She was lost for words at his statement. Like? How? If he likes her then why can't Brandon also like her like this? "I don't want to talk about this." She said when she got herself back from his raw confession. "Alright. I won't pressure you now but that doesn't mean I will stop trying." His eyes held an unspoken promise. "Are you ready to go?" She stared dumbfounded at him. What was wrong with this man? Why was he so straightforward? Why was she reacting to his words and why did it feel like there were butterflies in her stomach? Her heart was beating fast. "You will have to not bother trying at all because you still won't get me." She tried to discourage him. He was handsome, rich, and sexy. He was the perfect candidate to use to make Brandon jealous as Julie had said but she did not want to use him like the way Brandon used her. He could find better girls than her who would love him and not use him for selfish purposes. That would simply make her to be like Brandon. Leonardo Vale
As soon as Megan confirmed that Leonardo had left, she went outside and hailed a taxi. She got inside and gave the driver Julie's house address. It was already approaching evening when she arrived at Julie's house. Megan wasn't even sure if she was at home, it was Saturday and she could be out partying or having fun. She rang the doorbell for her house and in a few seconds the door opened and Julie was there in a baggy white shirt and pink shorts. When she saw her it was as if a dam opened and tears streamed down her cheeks. "Julie..." She cried and ran into her waiting arms. Julie held her there and let her sob till she calmed down. "What happened Megan?" She questioned curiously after her cries had reduced."He- he embarrassed me. I saw them in the restaurant I went to with Leonardo. He denied me, oh God." Her sobbing increased again and Julie took her to her comfortable sofa. She sat her down and Julie sat beside her. "Calm down and tell me what happened."She slowly took deep br
"Stop fidgeting, everything is going to be alright." Julie tried calming her down but it was not working. She had been anticipating this day two months ago and had been calm all those months, but why was she now so nervous? Today was her wedding day with Leo. The both of them had decided to get married quickly since that was what they were originally doing before they broke up. They decided to get married in Hawaii, and their wedding was private, with only family, friends, and a few close business associates."I don't know why I am like this." She almost sobbed out. "Everything is perfect but I cannot still phantom the fact that I am finally getting married." Her voice was low. Julie, who was wearing her light pink silk bridesmaid dress, grabbed her shoulder and turned her to face the long-standing mirror in the bridal waiting room at the luxury resort where the wedding was being held. "Look at how beautiful and perfect you look," Julie said.Megan stared at herself. She really loo
"Paris! Paris was the place you were taking me to?" She gasped in sheer shock. When they arrived at the airport, she was too stunned to speak, and now that they are in the Eiffel Tower, she is finally able to regain herself. He had taken them straight here and did not even stop at a hotel. Not that she was complaining, though; it was just crazy and nerve-racking."Yeah. Do you like it?" Leo asked her from across the table. They were at a restaurant in Eiffel Tower, and their table was in a corner that was away from the rest of the restaurant. "Yes. I love it." She replied happily."Would you like to order now?" She nodded and took the menu. A few minutes later, she had ordered, and their food had arrived. "Thank you for bringing me here. I really love it." "We can come here anytime you want to. Besides, you are no longer afraid of the height so it won't be a problem coming here again." He said, his voice had a teasing note. She glared at him playfully. "Did you have to mention th
"Why don't you go and continue living with him? I mean, what is the point of coming back to your father's house in the night when you spend the whole day at his house? Also, you keep yapping on about how he is treating you well." Julie ranted.Megan gasped. "What the fuck, Julie? I am not yapping. What am I? A dog?" She exclaimed in disbelief."At this point, you have been sounding like one these days." Megan glared at her and Julie turned away from her. She clicked her tongue and continued speaking. "Anyways, I want to move in soon with Leo." "Do it already. I am sure you have been dying to do just that since you got back together." Julie turned to her, all sign of playfulness gone and her expression turned serious. "What about the wedding? Are you guys going to continue ahead with it?""Oh, the wedding... We are not rushing things right now and we want to take it slow to see how it goes." She said. However, that was not what she was feeling right now. She wished the wedding would
Her driver slowly approached Leo's house; she just remembered that she did not have the remote to his gate because she had left it in his house before all of this started. The driver stopped at the front of his automatic iron wrought gate, she saw the driver glance at her through the rearview mirror."I know. I will do it myself." She came down from the and walked towards the small digital object near the gate. She stood in front of it. A small device near the gate scanned her face, and then the gate opened. She went back into the car and her driver drove inside the house. Leo actually still left her facial ID in his security system. He was actually expecting her to come. Is that why he also refused to send her clothes and belongings back to her? She had been expecting her clothes and belongings, but she did not want to contact him. Was that what he was expecting? That man was really sly. The car pulled up to the front of the house and Megan was about to come down when the driver's
Megan stepped down from the car that her father's driver drove her to the hospital with and immediately cursed under her breath. She was just coming back from the hospital for her checkup, according to her doctor, she is now able to do normal things since it has been five weeks since she had her surgery. Although she still feels tired sometimes it was bearable. Her medication was still one of her enemies at the moment; it still made her feel drunk and groggy sometimes. She missed feeling sane and normal.Back to what she was angry about right now, another set of bouquets was being taken into her father's house together with a gift bag. Was he not tired? It has been a whole month since she came back from the hospital and also the same time when the gifts and flowers started invading her father's house. Walking into the house, she headed to the place where the flowers are always kept, the dining room. This time, the bouquet was not as big as the others. The flowers have been so much th
He needed to get his wits together. If only he could try harder, then maybe she would come back to him. The reason why he has not yet gone to see her, even though he almost has plenty of times, was because her father was the one who advised him not to rush things, especially with Megan. Peter Zendel told him that whenever stuff like this happened, it was best to give her space and not rush things because she might regret any hasty decision she makes, so it was better to let her decide on her own. The only thing that had been keeping him sane was knowing the fact that she was doing fine and alright. He was getting feedback on her health from his friend, Juan, whom he recommended to Megan's father. It was not all because he wanted to watch her. That was why he recommended Juan; it was also because he wanted her to be in good health, and he was aware that she needed a very healthy diet, and Juan was the best option. As for the letters he was sending, he will have to write better. S
It was not just any letter like the one he had been sending to her for a while. It was a handwritten letter of their memories together. How did Leo, who is a businessman, think of something like that? It was so nice, and she did not want to acknowledge it. She could not and she will not acknowledge it. This one was written of their time in the London Eye. He wrote every detail of how she was happy, scared, and sad at the same time. His writing was so accurate that if she did not know him, she would have thought that he probably paid a pro or writer to do it for him or that he bought it. Nevertheless, this was too accurate to not be true. She did not know that Leo was keeping all the memories so stored deeply inside his heart and head. She remembered that time so well even though she did not. She finished reading the letter and her heart was beating fast not in a bad way but in a good way. She dropped the letter in the waste bin, and after a few minutes, she went back to pick it up.
It has been weeks now and she was frustrated. The whole house was filled up with flowers and a nice fragrance, not that she was complaining about the fragrance. Ever since she came to her father's house, Leo has not stopped sending flowers and letters of apology. She wondered how he knew about her current location. She had dismissed the bodyguards that he hired for her because she no longer needed them as she was staying at her father's house. Megan also released to the media that she was sick, which was the reason for the cancellation of their wedding. The day she was supposed to get married, which was yesterday, has passed, and she was still working on her health in her father's house. The wedding cancellation news was the only way to protect them both from criticism; the media still thinks that they are together; she left it that way because Leo would be heavily criticized for leaving her when she was sick and at her lowest. She wanted to wait till everything die down before she r
Delphine drew back in surprise. "Huh? You have broken up with Leo?" Megan shook her head. "No, I did not break up with him. We are only taking a break for now. We need some time to think about our relationship." She explained her lie. She and Leo are not taking any breaks, but they have broken up. More like she broke up with him but she did not want to tell his mother that when she knows how much Delphine loves her and sees her like her daughter. She did not have the guts to break her heart.Delphine sighed heavily. "Oh. It's Leo, right? He is the reason for this break that you talk about." When she saw that Megan was not answering her she continued. "There is no need for you to defend him; I know my son, and I know what he can do. He sometimes is careless and does not know how to value the precious things around him. He also makes some mistakes that are unbelievable and he is not perfect. I don't know what he must have done but I want to tell you that you should follow your heart an
