Evelyn
The silence hung in the room like cold frothing, coated with snow and tied with a rubber band. Must have been my imagination but I saw a fleeting look of chagrin cross my father's face, before he stood up abruptly.
“They're on their way now as we speak,” he gestured to the door.
The small satisfaction fizzled away into nothingness, and left a sputtering wave of indignation in it's wake.
I was getting married right this instant and nobody deem it's fair to tell me anything? I smiled through clenched teeth, looking up to find them peering into my eyes.
“I think we should discuss the real issue,” my mother said. The black rim around her eyes sent a sympathetic pang through me and I stomped on it furiously.
They got themselves into this mess and somehow I was responsible for solving it. Typical.
My father withdrew a tiny necklace from his pocket and handed it to me. I took it in my trembling palms and stared at the expensive looking jewelry.
It was a golden filigree and sparkling grey diamond encrusted it. Inside it, I saw something that gave me a pause. It was a red dot simply looked like a design at first glance. Until I saw it getting bigger.
I looked at my father for confirmation and he nodded jerkily, his hands making wide circle motion in the air.
He looked really out of it.
“Yeah yeah, it's a charm. Cost me quite a fortune but I'm sure it'll be worth it. The red dot gets bigger and bigger the instant you're in danger. And most important of all, it's also a portal.”
Their thoughtfulness amazed me. That they could think far ahead, making all this provision for Sophia while keeping me in the dark all this time, made a furious tide rise in me.
I debated not collecting the thing, or just simply chucking it through the window, but I'm hindsight, it's probably their own twisted way of showing me that they care. But I kind of think it's too late for that.
“What about Sophia?” I asked, once my tongue had finally unglued itself from the back of my throat.
It's all of some intricate political designations that made the back of my head throb just thinking about it. It beats all reason as to why they'll cut all corner and do everything but come out and say the outright truth. It's literally not that hard! They're simply complicating things that had no business being so.
I might have asked if the earth was flat and if wall geckos were the next delicacy on the menu from the reaction of shock that accosted my from all sides. What? Are we not supposed to talk about my sister now that she's missing? Especially when she's missing?
Theophilus cleared his throat,”We think Sophia might have ran away or some other sort of stuff,”
It was so ridiculously in contrast with the personality of my sister who took everything as a challenge to be overcome, I didn't even know when a surprised laugh ripped out of me. I laughed so hard, wiping the tears of mirth from the corner of my face.
I had gotten brazen in the span of thirty minutes because at the grim expression on their face, I wheezed to a stop and said, “wait, you're serious? Sophia ran away? But it's not even possible!” I whined.
“It would look like it's quite possible now, isn't it? Princess Sophia is nowhere to be found.” My father said, his mouth was twisted in distaste.
He was being formal again, addressing Sophia by her official title.
The irony of the situation wasn't completely lost on me. The way they were quick to abandon their so called princess, who has been working her ass off to make sure stability is a constant in their life.
Making agenda, swaying the human court councils and even leading researches? And now, I'm their only savior.
The other princess whose existence everyone was on the cusp of forgetting. It made me want to laugh, or scream or throw something at my father's gorgeous face.
I did none of that though. I swallowed and bobbed my head in acquiesce and made eye contact with my mother. We both knew there is more to this than what meets the eye.
The tingling in the back of my head was very much close to burning. It was like being electrocuted.
“Now, that's settled. I think we should get Evelyn ready for her groom. They'll be here soon.” My mother butted in and gently wheeled me out of the room, leaving the men to their planning.
The instant were out of the door, stream of words tumbled down my mouth before I could hold them back.
“I know this might be unexpected,” begin my mother once I was safely in my room.
Understatement of the century. Might come as a shock? I'm not sure this isn't some type of bizzare dream still, mother.
“But you'll need to follow my instructions to the core,” she looked into my eyes and I felt my heart skipped a beat from the fear I saw in her emerald green eyes.
I somehow managed to inherit both my parent's eye color. Icy grey mixed with emerald green, making my eyes looked like some sort of exotic experimental color.
“Your father and I only want the best for you.”
I scoffed.
“It's true! Do you think I'm happy about this?” She whispered softly, “it had to be done. I'd never willingly agree to this if not the lives of thousands resting on this decision. Even though, I'm still inclined to disagree.” She sighed and sat down on the bed, facing me.
“Losing my babies on the same day..I don't know how I'll survive this,” she whispered to herself.
She held my hand and proceed in greatest detail, d
escribing things that made my face turn crimson. It was a miracle I didn't combust.
EvelynIn a perfect world, my wedding day would be the most happiest day of my life. I'd smile really big, so big you'd think I'm going crazy. The day would be clear and free of clouds, flowers and butterflies would adorn everywhere. Laughter of joy would ring around me like tinkling of bell and I would gaze into my husband's eye with love and affection. Yes and blah blah blah. But, reality check slapped me right across the cheek with celery stick.I couldn't be anymore miserable and helpless even if I tried. My wedding was the exact opposite of what the occasion itself was supposed to symbolize. No laughter, rainbows or unicorns. None of that. There are guns though. Few vampyre warrior and human security guards were stationed everywhere. Did I say everywhere? Well, yes. A guard with a scruffy face almost sent Agatha into a panic attack when he insisted on following me into the bathroom. The issue was resolved by changing the guard with a female colleague of his. The mood was
EvelynTwo things happened at once. A deafening silence descended and I started hyperventilating. My father only smiled tightly and motioned for my mother to bring me out. It was funny and ridiculous, considering I was in the same room as them.“Breathe princess. You'll be fine.” My mother leaned down and whispered into my ears. Those were the most useless piece of advice that could be given to anyone on the verge of panic attack like I was. It was like my lungs had totally forgotten how to go about breathing and my heart stopped for a full minute before picking up at a double rate. His scrutiny was worse. Much more worse than his passing glare. He unleashed the full intensity of those blue eyes on me. He stared at me like I was something funny. His mouth kicked up by the side, smiling a little at his own amusement. Heat of embarrassment climbed up my neck and I flushed an ugly shade of scarlet. I heard a few people snickering from his side. Evelyn I've always thought the worst that could happen to anyone of our kind was losing their soul, but I was deadass wrong. No, it wasn't death. It wasn't even losing their soul, not even close. It was facing the fury of a werewolf Alpha. I wasn't talking about the glares and the scowls anymore. I was talking about his deep blue eyes probing every cells in my body, I was talking about the hard lines of his jaws, of the way his sneer reached out and smashed my heart into smithereens. Now, I don't know what this is all about. Except for him getting the short end of the stick. Okay, if the fast words and snarls he'd spoken to his subordinate was any indication, he was pretty pissed. It was an hour after we'd finished officiating our wedding, in which my mother had given me a book as my wedding present. Which my father had given me a credit card and Agatha has my wedding gift. My husband looked pretty amused by the latter gift, he smiled in that way that seems mocking and amused at
Evelyn The dawn came later than I would have liked. I spent the whole night tossing on the bed, anxiety and exhaustion waging war inside me stomach. Not knowing what was coming. I was grateful the content of my breakfast decided not to make an appearance. That would have added embarrassment as the cherry on top. Even now as I wait for Agatha's appearance with eagerness, I couldn't stop the slight pricking of fear at the base of my neck. Is something going to happen? Apart from what did not happen yesterday. Israel had somewhere gotten us lodged at some fancy hotel in the middle of nowhere. Tired and mentally exhausted, I couldn't be bothered to check out the settings and aesthetics. I was wheeled to my room by my husband. The whole ride which I spent trying to get enough air into my lungs. He was so huge. His sheer presence seeming to take up so much space, making everything shrink in comparison to him. His shoulder strained the fabric of his suit. Poor things. His blue eyes w

Israel It had been so hard, trying to control this growing need inside me. My fingers ache to touch her. To breathe her in, to stare into her expressive eyes and ask her what's going on inside her head. To probe her wall and examine the reasons behind them. It was perverted, the way I enjoy the few flashes of fire that speared me when she managed to be angry at me.So damn hard. I wasn't that kind of man, I was sure. I wasn't the one to sit on the edge of the king sized bed watching my wife murmur incoherent words in her sleep. Listening to her soft snores. I clenched my fist and took a deep breath. After wheeling her into the room, I had left quickly before I could do something foolish. Like touch her face and wipe the exhaustion from beneath her eyelids. Or kiss that soft mouth that I was sure was sharp as a sabre. She just doesn't know it yet. I stood up swiftly when a surprise message popped into my mind through the mindlink. Thank fuck I didn't close off the link. [Alpha!
Evelyn My heartbeat was still racing to the end of the earth, and I struggled to hold in the bike threatening to rise inside my belly. There was a dead body. In the pool of blood, crusty at the edges. A dead man killed by my husband. The husband that was giving furious instructions now, low and commanding. After what felt like hours which must have been nothing but few seconds, he stalked towards me again. My heart nearly jumped out of my throat. “Look like your vision came to pass princess. We're under attack.” His voice was strained with anger and a hint of appreciation. It made me feel a bit lightheaded. Though in truth, must have been the blood that drain right through my brain at the sight of the dead body. “I told you I can sense when things would happen. Though I never have seen it quite so vividly.” I murmured, shuddering when the vision of blood splattered everywhere collided with reality. Finally, the men were done with whatever they were doing and I watched them con
Evelyn I was suddenly carried out of the car by Israel, and cold air whipped at my face. I took a minute to admire the mansion with a waterfall. And statues of wolfs scattered all around. “This is the pack house.” Israel announced, his cold voice rushed me out of my musing. I swallowed repeatedly until my salivary glands gave up their jobs. I looked up and him and what I saw wasn't really a Surprise. His eyes had darkened and he looked like he wanted to smash my head against the wall. I shrank on my seat, a technique I'd adapted for looking smaller and harmless. Which was unwise, considering how invisible and overlooked I already am. Agatha got out of the car slowly, her eyes wide as saucers as she stared around. Micheal did the same and we all stood in front of the house. “Are we planning to go in or what?” I asked no one in particular. “Yes we are but before that, there's some basic rule we need to ground out.” With an incline from his head, he subtly dismissed Micheal. EvelynBreakfast was a miserable affair.Considering yesterday was weird and uncomfortable, I thought I'd seen it all.The blonde laughed at my face, said some rude things and walked out. She wasn't even creative with her insults.Agatha came to my room this morning, her arms over flowing with pretty dresses. She dumped them on the bed with a pant and sat beside them.My eyes widened at the sheer amount of lace, satin and silk strewn everywhere and I turned to Agatha for an explanation. She shrugged and told me that she was accosted on her way to me by a maid. A maid who dropped everything into her stunned arms and walked away rudely.I was inclined to laugh. I wouldn't know, but something tells me the day is just about to go from bad to worse.I was sure the huge bags under my eyes wouldn't go unnoticed by anyone, neither would my tangled hair.“You have to dine with them downstairs,” her nose wrinkled with distaste at the thought of me eating with the werewolves. Not that I was over
Israel I tipped the glass and downed the content in one gulp. I grabbed the wooden panel and stared right ahead, head pounding and my eyes unseeing. A lot of things did not make sense. The attack was the least of my problem since we'd gotten to the pack house. It'll be harder, if not impossible, for them to penetrate the fortress and the ancient security around it. No. My problem was centered on my wife. Centered was maybe the wrong word to use, considering how well she tilted my world on its axis, perfectly disrupting its smooth running. Marrying was part of the plan. But marrying her was proving to be a much more herculean task than I'd initially anticipated. How hard would it be to live a separate live with my wife in this huge house filled inside out with people and different activities? I reckon we both could get on with our lives and continue the way it was. Would be harder for her, I'm sure. What's with the vampyre hatred that was deep as the blood running through the blo
