Chapter 6

Gena POV 

The next morning, I got up as I had planned. I cooked breakfast and waited for my kids to wake up. The time was still five so I had enough time for me to prepare for the day.

I put every food I had made into the fridge and went to do the laundry. After that, I cleaned up my kid's playroom and cleaned up the living room as well.

By the time I was done with all the cleaning, the day had broken. I went up to my room and had a quick shower before going to my kid's room to wake them up.

"Darlings, it is time to wake up," I gently tapped them.

"Good morning Mommy," they both chorused with a drowsy voice.

"I am sorry Mommy has to wake you up like this. But it's time to prepare for school. Now, come my sweethearts," I urged them out of the bed and led them into their bathroom.

It took me ten minutes to get them prepared and reheat their breakfast. 

"Mommy is the best," Zekria pecked my cheek as I placed her favorite cereal in front of her.

"Thank you, now finish up with your cereal."

"Mommy, will you come to our school today? A one-hour parent and teacher is meeting at our auditorium. We forgot to tell you because of the stress you were going through yesterday. So please be there," Zekel informed me.

The parents and teachers meeting was the last thing I wanted to put in my schedule. But for my kids, I would have to squeeze out time. Since it was going to be an hour meeting, I won't mind missing my lunch. 

Today was going to be a very busy day for me and if I lag, I might lose my job and end up just like Ethan.

After my kids were done eating, I rushed them to school and went to my office. I was just in time, seven o'clock at the dot.

The company was still scanty and some janitors were already at work.

"Good morning, young Miss, you are quite early today. I hope you are not depriving yourself of proper sleep?" the old lady whose name is Ann said.

Of course, I was sleep-deprived with everything that I had on my shoulders but there was no way I would share that with her. 

"I am fine Mrs Ann. Just have to meet up with the president's demands. Thank you for your concern," i assured her before going back to my work.

With time, other employees arrived and the office became less quiet. 

Kira, knocked gently on my door with a bright smile on her face. I permitted her to come in and be prepared to hear what she had for today.

"Good morning, Miss Gena. You came early to work today. I have some good news for you. Last night, I got in contact with the investor. He liked our proposal and wishes to partner with us. I scheduled the meeting by 1pm today," she announced.

Finally, God answered my prayers. All I just have to do now is make sure that our products rise and the money Ethan lost would be replaced. I won't have to suffer from the president's threat anymore.

Taking in a deep breath, I urged her to continue with her scheduled listing.

"We have a board meeting by eight, this morning. Second,The production team have requested your presence for the inspection you ordered. Third on our list is the advertisement team, we are going to visit them after we meet the production team. Lastly, an account recheck at the finance department. They have got all the errors and figures that were missing. I will go through them and bring it for you signature," she ended her list and I gladly accepted it all.

Next Tuesday, Mr. President would come for an inspection and I don't want to be caught up slacking. 

"Alright, send me a reminder when it is time for the board meeting. And make sure that everything is set for it. We only have two days before the president comes here. Weekend might not work out for everyone this time around," I broke the sad news to her. At least it is better than getting roasted on fire.

After she was done with everything she needed and I had assigned her some work, she left to take care the tasks.

I buried my attention into the documents in front of me tuning out of the noisy environment.

The document in front of me contained the transactions Ethan carried out. Everything was altered, the digits were all false and I began to wonder what he used all the money he stole to do.

He never brought it home and always complained of having a hard time at work. I guess the bastard was a godforsaken liar. 

"What an asshole," I mumbled under my breath as I flipped through the page. 

Because of him, I have to make sure that his mess is cleaned even though he is not in this world anymore. 

I continued to tick out the false balances, adding up everything until I got the correct amount of money he had taken out of the company's account.

Hundred million dollars! The bastard took such amount and never thought about quitting his job. He does deserve his death. 

But that wasn't the problem now, I have to make sure that this number gets replaced before Tuesday which means, I would have to do a triple promotion for our products.

Once it was eight at the dot, I got up for the meeting without Kira's reminder. This was an emergency that needed to be tackled if I wanted to survive in this company.

As expected, everyone was seated at the table waiting for my arrival. I was sure that they would be confused by the sudden change of director. However, I brought some intense news for them so there wasn't going to be a room for arguments.
