AFTER THE FALL

ANTONELLA'S POV

I woke up with a start and when I turned to my side, I saw Alpha Xavier sitting on the chair beside me. His eyes were fixed on me and I wondered how I had gotten to his bed.

Slowly, I started remembering everything - how he had sent me to the mountains to get him some ginger and how we had quarrelled thereafter. That was the only thing I could remember.

As he stared at me, his door opened and a maid walked in with a tray. She dropped it in his front and bowed before turning to leave. Once she had left, Alpha Xavier rose to his feet and I felt a knot tighten in my stomach. We were alone and I was at his mercy.

He opened the tray of food and the scent of fresh loaf and cinnamon tea permeated the room. My hungry stomach rumbled at the scent of the food and Xavier drew closer to me with the tray in his hands.

He sat down beside me and dropped the tray on the bed.

"I had one of the maids make you fresh tea," He started. "You need to eat."
