OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMAđș
"So, what else are we shopping for?" Sandra asked her friend as they got out of Penn Square mall, each of them carrying two shopping bags filled with Ismena's accessories and necessities for her vacay.
"Nothing, I think we're done. God, this feels heavenly!" Ismena raised her head towards the sun, a wide smile on her face, "I can't remember the last time I shopped."
"Me too. I'm glad you came back, you know. I almost forgot what the inside of a mall looks like. I've been too busy running after stories. Whoever said being a journalist is easy?"
"I know, right?" As they walked towards Ismena's car, she swung her head in her friend's direction, "If you wanna catch fun in life, now's the time, Sandy. Don't wait until you're dying or getting old. Life is too short."
"See who's talking? Just because you've got a little time on your hands now doesn't mean you aren't a workaholic." Her friend teased.
"Well, you are right butâWhoofs!!!" She gasped suddenly when the breath was suddenly knocked out of her. She'd bumped into someone while she was talking without looking.
"I'm sorry, so sorry..." She began saying immediately, even as the large hand instantly went around her to help steady her, helping her to find her footing. "Thank you so much, I'm gratefulâ"
"It is nothing. I should have been mindful too." The man cut her off, his voice deep.
Having found her footing, Ismena stared at her 'masculine accident'. She was suddenly robbed of speech. He is big, masculine and so tall, he towered over her. He has the build of a dangerous bodyguard and the sunshade that hid his eyes isn't helping matters either.
A shiver of fear worked its way through her spine. That's saying something because she doesn't scare easily. "L-Like I said, I'm truly sorry for walking into you like that."
His head bobbed. "That's okay." A large hand stretched out towards her, "I am called Alphose, and you are?"
"I-Ismena. I'm called Ismena, this is my friend, Sandra." She directed towards her friend as she shook his outstretched hand.
"Nice meeting you." Unlike her, Sandra wasn't unsettled at all, "I'm really sorry about my friend. She doesn't look it but she's a walking accident zone."
"Sandra!" Ismena seethed, throwing her a glare.
The man's lips curved up again, "I can see that."
"Anyway, we have to get going now. Sorry, once again, Alphose, it was nice meeting you but we have to be on our way now." Ismena practically dragged her friend forward toward her car.
She didn't turn, her back prickled all the way to her car but when she finally turned... The man was nowhere within sight anymore.
"Mehn, that guy is so hot! Bejeezus!" Sandra whisper-screamed, turning to search for the stranger fanatically with her eyes, "Heavens, I haven't seen a guy that hot in real life, and I've worked with some celebrities! Wow!"
"He would be hot if he wasn't scaring the very devils outta me." Ismena conceded reluctantly.
"He sure didn't scare me. Poor man didn't do anything scary at all, it's not his fault that God and Creation favored him really well." Her eyes took on a dreamy look, "I'll totally shag him if I was into bad guys."
"Alright, enough daydreaming. Let's get this to the trunk, my arms are aching." Ismena walked towards her trunk as she addressed her friend. Sandra is right, the man didn't do anything particularly scary at all.
He was on black sunshades but she knows that he'd been looking at her. Watching her. Pointedly.
And, there's something about the way he was looking at her...
Shivers sizzled down her spine.

"How was your trip, Alphose? I hope you have good news for me from the Oklahoma branch?" Wolfariane's deep voice was calm, but the emptiness of the Meeting Hall made his voice echo through the big space.
Alphose walked towards one of the chairs out of the twelve empty, golden, high chairs that surrounded the huge roundtable which dominated the center of the big Meeting Hall. Whenever there is a general specie meeting, the high chairs are filled up by the twelve Alphas and leaders of each species, while the huge throne-chair at the head of the table is occupied by their King, Wolfariane.
Sitting three-empty chairs away from Wolfariane, Alphos cleared his throat, "Sadly, I don't, Alpha King. In the meeting, I had with Josiah and his pack, there are a lot of uncertainties in the agricultural market, and the new regulations the company is undergoing, it isn't helping our credit market. Nector and Co. Limited Company, our competitors, are coming up fast in the international market."
"Josiah and his Cougars are finding it hard getting things in control? That's disappointing." Wolfariane's displeasure showed clearly on his strong chiseled face. "What about our New York branch?"
"Not a good news from there too, Alpha King. Cronus and his pack have been busy in the last few weeks trying to get back control of the lower market. The sales of the with plant growth fertilizer products have been stuck, and seed treatments keep falling in the market. They have been developing business strategies to regulate this problem, which so far, have not worked. But, they are not giving up." Alphose hated being the bearer of bad news, but he had no choice.
Silence descended after his report. He can see the wheels turning in the head of the Alpha King even without the drumming of his fingers rhythmically on the arm of his throne.
Time passed. The Alpha King couldn't sit any longer, so he rose from his chair and began pacing in slow steady steps. Even such simple unconscious movement portrayed a lethal predatory action.
He toyed with the huge diamond ring on his middle finger. The ring has two golden pearls like a crown attached to it. Always outstanding and sparkled most times, it's also very precious to Wolfariane.
When he spoke, that displeasure is still clear in his voice. "So, let me get this straight. What you are trying to tell me is that among all my companies scattered all over the world, two out of five of the most powerful, largest, and most successful of them all, led by the strongest, most powerful, and best Alphas of our species, is having serious business problems that haven't be solved?"
Here goes nothing. "Unfortunately, yes, Alpha King." He paused, "But there's still time for them to solve it right. Cronus is alreadyâ"
"I will be going over to New York City myself. Get the jet ready, and tell Cronus to await my arrival." Wolfariane declared authoritatively.
Alphose was shocked about his decision. "But, you do not like leaving Naturiah." And with good reasons too. One of them being that the Alpha King has no liking for 'normal' humans at all.
That's an understatement. He hates them.
"I do not like it." He stated, matter-of-factly. "But, obviously, I cannot leave these problems unattended. I have to be there myself. I will go to New York City first. Get the jet ready."
"I will do that as soon as possible." Alphose rose from his chair, "
Wolfariane walked to his chair and lowered himself down on the elaborated throne. He leaned back relaxingly, picked up a pen, and began signing the documents Alphose laid out in front of him.
"You are dismissed."
Alphos bowed his head, turned to the door, and began walking towards it. Then, he remembered...
His steps faltered. Is the Alpha King really the right person for him to give this news?
"What is the matter?" Wolfariane's asked without raising his head.
Alphose veered around, "Today, in Oklahoma, I caught the scent of a potential mate."
No reaction. Nothing. "You should be telling other males. I do not care about a mate, Alphose." Was all he said.
Did Alphose expect it? Yes, he did.
Another person will react with awe, happiness, and wonder, but not Wolfariane.Alphose continued anyway, "Not only does she have the scent of potential mate, but the scent was also very strong and distinguishable above other odds. She has the scent of an unclaimed Alpha mate."
Placing the signed document aside, he picked up another one. "That's good news for you, Josiah, Cronus, and the other unmated Alphas, Alphose. You can claim her before the others discover her and claim her first."
Alphose wishes he can do that more than anything else in the world. "She is not mine. I went really close and even bumped into her to be sure because she has other scents too. The Cougar has not the slightest liking for her touch."
"Her 'other' scent?" Wolfariane inquired, reluctantly.
"She is dying. The smell of death was too strong. She doesn't have much time."
Eyes raised from the document to Alphose, "Too bad for her, and whoever she belongs to."
The curious mountain lion in him has to know, "What if she is yours?"
Wolfariane didn't bait an eyelash. "She can never be mine. And if she is, I am glad she is dying."
.
"You do not look glad, Alpha King." Alphose countered.Wolfariane Daminor Throne spared him another glance, "I do not have to look glad to be glad, Alphose.""Of course, Alpha King.""You're dismissed." He inclined his head slightly and faced the door."Oh, and Alphose?""Yes?" He turned.Wolfariane finally put the signed documents away and looked at him fully, "You are a mountain lion, and you are starting to seem edgy. As a man who is a mountain lion and a werewolf, I can tell you that there is not much difference between the two species. Both species need to let off some steams once in a while or the animal... will not be at rest." A surprisingly gentle look took over the frown that marred his face before, "You know how dangerous that can be."His Alpha is right and he knows it, "I will go for a run at sundown." "Running can only take the edge off, you need séx." He said bluntly, "If running works so well, wolves wouldn't be saddled with the full moon which forces us to mat
One week later...đșLAVO NIGHTCLUB, NEW YORKđșIsmena walked through the door of the club. All of the dancers were sultry-looking females, beautiful and nearly naked. Some of the men were laughing and dancing with these women. Some were taking shots of drinks at the bar-side.Wisps of smoke cast a dream-fog around them, and pinpricks of starlight rained from the swirling strobe, illuminating everything inside the darkened nightclub in slow, sweeping circles. From the corner of her eye, she caught a scintillating glimpse of a taut masculine ass pounding forward, back, forward, into an ecstatic woman. Ismena shook her head. These women that just bent to their waists and have sĂ©x in a club, how exactly do they manage to just do so with reckless abandon? She wants wild, but not this wild. These past few days have been glorious for her. She walked towards the bar and ordered her drink, she was smiling as she remembered her fun time in the amusement park. She'd conquered her lifelong fear
Wolfariane Daminor Throne wanted nothing more than to ignore the woman when these men had followed her to the bathroom because he does not give a damn about her specie, but when he'd heard her scream, his wolf and cougar had woken at the same time in alert, and bared their teeth. They agreed long ago that they hated non-changelings. So, why was she able to wake him? He'd tried to ignore it anyway, but his sensitive hearing suddenly became more attuned to the sounds coming from the bathroom of the restroom than loud music of the club. He heard her muffled screams, even the almost soundless movements of her struggles. The wolf became more restless, which in turn, made him restless. Now, he walked through the door he'd just broken its lock in one push and closed it behind him, peering at the weasels who held the girl."Leave us to our fun, man. We found her first." The one pinning her down said bravely to him. Swallowed tightly, he added hopefully, "You can go after us if you want a piec
Wolfariane dumped her on the bed and rose. He took a moment to arrange his clothing, scowling more at the untidiness and slight wrinkling of his suit. Damn drunk female."I can seeeeeeeeeeee the thundeeeer! It's vibrating my beeeeeeeeed! I think I'm gonnaaaaa vanishâ" she gagged again. "I don't feel so good, big guy.""You are drunk and drugged. You have no business feeling good tonight.""Aaaaaah," she nodded her head in understanding. Accompanied with a huge smile, "But, that is where you're wrooooooooong!" she sang. "I feel like I can flyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!"Wolfariane shook his head. "I hope we do not see again, female." He faced the door and walkedâA feminine hand grabbed his...and tugged hard.He wasn't expecting it, he lost his footing to the direction she tugged him to and fell right on top of her, breaking his fall in the last minutes with the hands that shot out on either side of her headâwhich held his upper body away from her, instead of crashing full-body on her."Ooooh, look
Minutes later, with some form of control reinstated, he tried to survey his situation rationally. He has found his mate and she is dying. And she is non-changeling.Memories filled his head of a time he wishes never to remember ever again. After all these years, the pain is still deeply ingrained in him. The reason why his mountain lion is more feral than any other changeling's in Naturiah and his wolf is the most séxually insatiable, rough, and fierce. How does he handle this? Can he handle this?A few minutes later, he came out expecting to see her sleeping because of the silence of the bedroom, but she was awake. She smirked at the sight of him. "You are back.""I do not have the intentions of taking a mate or having a child, least of all not a non-changeling mate because I have no liking for them, and most especially, not one who's drunk, sassy, and a trouble magnet." The woman is the complete opposite of him.Ismena isn't understanding half of the words coming out of the man's mo
Ismena woke up early the next morning with a clanging headache. "Awwggh," she moaned, palming her banging head.Where am I? The events of the night before filled her head, most of them anyway. Those men had tried to rape her, and she was rescued byâBig Bad Wolfe! Where is he?Eyes darted around the empty bedroom. He's gone. Did he...?Eyes darted to her body. Nope, he didn't take advantage of her. Then, other memories came rushing in; the way she'd forced him to save her, he'd carried her out of the nightclub and brought her here. She'd propositioned him for sĂ©x!"Unholy pants, did I really do that!?" She cringed, horrified as more memories pricked her clanging head. "Oh, my... What the hell did I do?"Shit, she's the one that almost took advantage of the man. Bad Ismena, very bad girl.Rising from the bed, she reached for the room phone and ordered some hangover tea. She's feeling surprisingly good this morning, too good. Wasn't her chest burning the night before? Her meds have fi
Eighteen years ago...UNKNOWN LABORATORY IN AMERICAđș"Inject him again." A cold voice."Not again, Dr. Angor. I t-think he'll d-die at this rate. Number 10 and Number 12 died this afternoon." A nervous male voice. "Weaklings! All of them!" Dr. Angor thundered angrily. "That's how many? Thirteen this week?""Fifteen." Hector's nervous voice came again."Animals!" He thundered again. Then, he turned and faced a particular 'cage'. A huge wolf lay behind the iron bars glaring at him with so much rage, Dr. Angor will not stand in front of 'it' if not for the unbreakable bars that separated them. "I have my eyes on this one now. He is my only hope.""Number 6!?" Hector shrieked, swallowing tightly."Yes. You'd better be giving me positive results on this one, Hector. He is the strongest of them all. Focus all your experiments on him." Dr. Angor ordered.Hector glanced at the feral wolf, fear filled him. Just the size of the wolf is terrifying, and the boy is only fifteen years old. He kno
This ring belongs to Big Bad Wolfe."Ohmigod, Ohmijesus, Ohmimary!" Ismena bent down and picked up the ring again, and the pearl that fell out of it. She put the pearl in her pocket and stared at the ring in total horror. What to do, what to do, what to do??"Is anything the matter?" The pawnbroker asked again in concern. She ignored him, talking to herself. "Oh, Ismena, it's just like you to steal from someone that saved your life! Heavens, and this looks very expensive. What of its very valuable to him? What if he starts looking for you?" Vividly, she can still remember Big Bad Wolfe from the night before. That man that looks like he eats bones for breakfast and drinks blood when he's thirsty, will definitely dismember her; chew on her flesh and use her hair for a hand fan.The images she created in her head made her shiver. She shook her head vigorously to banish them. "No, no, no, let's rationalize this.""First of all, I didn't know that it was his ring; I thought it belonged to
