*BYE GRANDMA*
Stars covered the night sky as Olivia looks out the window of the glamorous car she was currently in, it was a pleasant sight to see. She just wished that her life could be as pleasant.
Her mind was swimming in various kind of emotions but mostly sadness and loneliness.
Even though she has Diana, her social worker right by her side, the driver in the front driving and a bodyguard in the passenger seat, she still felt like she was the only one in the car. All of this felt overwhelming, she’s not used to any of it.
All she just wanted to do was lay down and sleep, she was very tired but trying not to fall asleep or doze off even for a moment. The last thing she wanted was to fall asleep in a car with three strangers, she didn’t trust any of them.
She was able to cope quite well when it was just Diana, and her on the flight but when they got to the airport and was picked up by two strangers, her anxiety came rushing back, knowing there is no backing out now, not that she has anywhere else to run to anyways.
Not that they make any attempt to make her feel at ease either except her social worker who had tried to assure her a bit and explain to her the nature of their journey, the period it would take, the city they are headed and who she was going there to stay with. But it never eased her worries, Diana was too professional and her speech lacked warmth which Olivia desperately needs.
She had thought the driver to be her father at first when she saw him with the Placard which spelled out her name but after the introductions, she didn’t know if she felt relieved or disappointed.
She had thought that her dad or at least any of the family members would be there to receive her. After all, she learned from her social worker that she has some siblings.
But then again, they weren’t really her family. Related by blood? yes. They are more like half-siblings. Half-siblings she never even knew she has.
Words can’t really describe how much she was missing her Grandmother right now, she still cannot believe that her grandmother died two days ago, Gone just like that. Olivia was thinking of her throughout her flight to the new city.
They got to the house; more like a mansion. After entering through the big gate guarded by securities, the car parked in the large compound and they all got out of the car. Olivia has never been in that kind of environment before. It screams wealth, elegance , luxury and any other extravagant word you could think of.
She was too busy observing the environment that she neither saw the bodyguard taking out and placing her bags beside her before he disappeared nor the woman who came out of the house and was now approaching them.
Their voices brought her attention back in time to see the woman hand over an envelope to Diana who smiled gratefully and handed her over to the woman whose expression looks as if she was being forced to receive her.
“Thank you Diana, my husband said he already settled everything with the office so there won’t be need for the normal regular checkups and all.” The woman spoke with a stoic face.
“Yes, Mrs Summers. Everything has been handled. I will take your leave now.” Diana replied.
Mrs summers? Then her dad’s wife? Olivia thought curiously.
The woman called Mrs Summers gave her a nod. Diana turned around, moved towards Olivia and handed her a card.
“You can contact me if there is any issue with your stay here.” She said, gave her a brief smile, got back into the car and the driver drove away.
Olivia was starting to get familiar with Diana but like she had said, Diana's just too professional. Olivia hopes she never have to use the card because that will mean that some trouble had surfaced in the course of her living there which she hope never happens.
“Follow me.” Mrs Summers said as she walked gracefully into the house.
The mansion was huge and quiet even though there were people walking around and Olivia wondered why they were wearing the same uniform.
What even surprised her more was the fact that there were men in black clothes in some corners of the house and they were not walking or smiling, just rooted to a spot.
The woman in front of her did not utter a single word and just walked ahead of her while Olivia followed with her two bags in her hands, not failing to notice how the girls in uniform were staring at her which makes her really uncomfortable.
The woman climbed the stairs swaying her hips while Olivia just followed her up the stairs carefully. They passed a short hallway to reveal the rooms on that floor.
Then she stopped in front of a room, opened the door, before turning back leaving the way she came. Olivia was confused and just watched the woman walk away till she disappeared out of her sight.
Olivia took it this was her room then, she entered the room and placed her bags on the floor beside the Queen sized bed.
The walls were painted blue and the room was okay as it showed that it was thoroughly cleaned and the bed perfectly arranged. There was a large bed, two bedside tables, a pure white dresser with large mirror and a black cozy sofa in the room, that’s all there is to see and She was not complaining.
She was however surprised to find the dresser stocked; perfume bottles, lotions, scented candles and some other products she doesn’t even know. What caught her attention though was the large picture on the wall, right beside the dresser mirror. It was an enlarged version of her graduation picture. How it got there? She didn’t know.
She explored further and saw that there is a walk-in closet and a spacious bathroom. The walk-in-closet was stocked as well and she was confused so she didn’t even bother checking the fabrics there. She went to close the room door and came back to unpack fully making a little space in the closet to place her clothes, she does not really have much from where she came from but she loved every seconds she had spent there.
*BYE GRANDMA* Time for the introduction, Olivia Rose Summers is seventeen years old turning 18 in a few weeks. She was originally from this city but the truth was that this was her first time of coming to the city. She’s 5’3 in height with moderate weight; not plump and not thin either. Olivia has shiny black hair and her eye colour; chocolate. Her grandma always told her she looked like her mother and this has always made Olivia confident in the beauty aspect so speaking about looks, she has never felt insecure about her looks. She has a picture of her mom and she was one of the most beautiful women Olivia had ever seen. Although, She never got the privilege of remembering any memories with her mother, she always has that one picture her Grandmother gave her and she cherished it. Olivia’s grandmother had told her that her mother died when she was still a baby. Olivia always wondered why there was not a single picture of her with her mother but she refused to question her grandmot
'Hi dad.' Olivia has been waiting patiently in her room for about thirty minutes now, expecting someone to come in but no one did. She felt a little disappointed but she does not even know why. Perhaps, it was because she had thought that if the older man earlier was her father, he would have rushed upstairs to receive his daughter. What was she thinking? She never even knew he existed until recently, he probably thought of her as a burden. Olivia’s inner voice wouldn’t let her rest with those depressing thoughts. Her line of thought was interrupted by a knock on the door, she said a ‘come in’ and the door opened to reveal the older man she saw earlier. He walked towards the bed where she was sitting with his hands tucked into his pockets, the suit he had on earlier was gone, now replaced with casual attire. She wanted to break the silence but she doesn’t know what to say and the man wasn’t helping her case either as he just stared at her with an expression she couldn’t point out.
*HI DAD* “Or I could arrange for you to have your dinner here in your room if you don’t feel like meeting everyone tonight.” He suggested as he considered how tired she must have been from the flight and all. “No, it’s fine.” He nodded and stood up giving her a gentle pat on her head while smiling before he left the room. It felt like a heavy weight was lifted off Olivia’s shoulders. She felt happy even if it was just for a while, she was glad her dad acknowledged her and didn’t make her feel like a burden. She got up and went into her closet. Not touching the clothes that were already in the closet before her arrival, she looked through hers and chose what to wear. Since it was night time already and she felt lazy, she decided on her purple pajamas not caring that she was going to be introduced to everyone and thier eyes will be on her. She just wanted to eat and then crash in her bed and sleep till whenever. She placed the clothes on her bed and went ahead to take her bath. Th
*ASTRAPHOBIA*Olivia woke up to the sound of thunder and to say she was scared was an understatement, she was so frightened. She’s Astraphobic but it wasn’t usually a problem since she shares the bed with her grandmother and always felt safe with her. She fell off the bed at the sound of another thunder and shifted to the corner of the room crouching into a ball. Something was moving outside her window as she could see the shadow which only scared her the more, she bolted out of the room mumbling comforting words continuously to herself. Her legs were shaking as she ran through the hallway and down the stairs into the living room. Her fear only increased when she saw figures walking around in the dark and they seem to still at her presence. She reached for the switch hastily and turn on the lights. There were about five men in black surrounding a wounded man who was on the floor, that was when she noticed who the man was facing. Mason was sat on the couch in front of the wounded man
*ASTRAPHOBIA* Olivia quickly took off her gown when she got there and went to the closet. She selected a white T-shirt and a fit jean trousers. No way she would have felt comfortable riding on a bike in her straight gown. This was her first time of getting on a motorbike, she might as well enjoy the ride comfortably. She finished changing and rushed out of the house the way she rushed in. Derek noticed her change of cloth and laughed. He moved closer to her with an helmet in his hands and fastened it on her head before getting on the motorcycle. Olivia climbed behind him and he took her hands wrapping it around his waist. “Don’t worry, I’ll be gentle.” He reassured me with a smile. Well, he was indeed gentle on the speed, for the first twenty seconds that is. He was soon zooming away on the road as soon as they got out of the gate and Olivia couldn’t even complain but just held unto him for dear life. After what felt like eternity, he finally slowed down and stopped. Olivia still
*NOT YOUR APPLE*It was 2:00PM and Olivia was sitting quietly in her room, hungry and bored, afraid of going outside her room. She watched the clock as it ticked, wishing it would just jumped to something like 6:00Pm. At least by then, everyone would be home and she will have no choice but to get out of her room for dinner. It's been about thirty minutes since Ace dropped her and drove back out after telling her he was headed for Mason's house. Olivia glanced at the clock again. When she couldn't take it anymore, she got out of her room and went downstairs where she met Michael sitting in the living room watching TV. She went further and sat at the opposite end of the Sofa he was sitting on. She avoided looking his way and just let her eyes stay glued to the TV. After about thirty minutes, she couldn't focus on the movie anymore because the food monsters inside her were having an awakening. Her eyes were on the television but her mind was completely off it. She shifted uncomfortably
*NOT YOUR APPLE*Olivia went to sit on one of the sofas in the living room looking around as there was nothing to do. After a while, Derek arrived and they exchanged greetings. "Ready?" He asked and she nodded. "Let's go then." He said. "Ace said he's coming." She quickly informed him. "Ace? isn't that surprising?" He asked and smirked before walking upstairs probably to Ace's room while Olivia just stared at his retreating figure. Ace and Derek both came down after a while with Ace marching Derek’s outfit. ‘It’s not a fashion show.’ Olivia said in her head with a mental laugh. They beckoned on her to follow them outside which she did. They got to church in Ace's car. Olivia had seen Derek's motorbike parked at home but she guessed it's easier to just ride together. They got out of the car and Olivia was immediately intrigued at the sight of the church and walked hastily inside forgetting that she didn't come alone. She went into the church and sat down at the only empty bench
*LIBRARY ACCIDENT*Olivia stared at him blankly as she rubbed her stinging forehead. It wasn't until he folded his arms and raised an eyebrow at her that she realized he asked her a question. She wanted to reply him with 'what you do in a library' , after all it’s her father’s house but she also doesn’t want to learn how he deals with sarcasm. His outburst earlier was still fresh on her mind. "I was looking for a book." She answered. "What do you want to study in school?" He suddenly asked. "Computer." She answered confused as to what he wanted to do with the information. "So what were you doing in the crimes session? All the books in this area are based on that, I'm sure you can read." ‘So what if I wanted to study computer? That doesn't mean I can't read a book of my choice at any given time. I will never understand his manner of thinking, only God knows which planet he came from.’ Olivia sassed in her head. He went towards her and glanced at the books on the ground before spe
[OLIVIA] [A YEAR LATER.]................. Bare footed, with the heavy clothing weighing me down, I ran. Without looking back, I willed my feet to continue moving with just one destination in mind. The sound of the unrelenting footstep behind me pumped my adrenalin till I saw the door wide open and thanked the heavens. I ran towards Abigail and hid behind her using her as a shield as I breath heavily. She was looking around in shock trying to find the source of my problem. Few seconds later, Scarlet came running through the door with her eyes immediately spotting mine. She came to a stop seeing her mother in between us and she bent over trying to catch her breath too. “How are you able …..able…to run so fast in what you are we…wearing?” She managed to speak out. “Oh heavens! Why are you chasing the bride, Scarlet?” Her mother asked. “She was trying to dump that on my dress.” I pointed to the container in Scarlet’s hand. Michelle suddenly came behind her and snatched the containe
[MASON]“You know, I told my brother you were there when he was born and he thought I was lying.” Willow said pointing at the boy who was busy playing a game on what I assumed will be her phone, he was very absorbed in it that he wasn’t paying attention to us at all.“He wouldn’t remember. He was two years old the last time I saw him.” I chuckled.“Yeah, that was when we broke up.”“Wait, how old is he?” Olivia asked.“He’s ten.” Willow answered.“If you guys broke up when he was two, then that means Mason was …..seventeen years old.” Olivia reasoned. “At what age did both started dating?” Olivia looked at me with accusing eyes.“Fifteen, we are the same age. We dated for two years but we’ve known each other longer than that.” Willow answered and I wished they could bring up another topic already.“Fifteen? Is that legal?” Olivia pinched my butt again and I actually winced this time.I’m definitely getting my revenge later.“It’s called puppy love, Olivia. They got together as virgins
[MASON]I was relieved after confirming that Marcus had indeed taken guards with him, the ones that stay in the background and blend in staying hidden unless there is really a threat. All I know is the Don’s presence here comes with a lot of danger. Him stepping out of his safe zone and domain will make his opponents think that he is now vulnerable enough and they would do anything to try to get the upper hand, even if it means harming someone in his life, whoever it may be.That was why I’ve been extra careful about Olivia’s movement since the Don arrived. Her dad is the Don’s shadow after all. We just finished a meeting when I had received Olivia’s text that comprises of pictures letting me know that she and Gray were not in the house. The meeting comprised of the Don, Gerald, Carlos, Peter and I. Dad didn’t beat around the bush at all, he had went straight to the point. He apologized to Gerald without letting his pride get in the way. They apologized not for killing his brother who
[OLIVIA]The unfamiliar lady was staring again but then she smiled widely and that was when I realized, I wasn’t the one she had been glancing at, it was Marcus. The first time I noticed her gaze I had been sitting next to Marcus and now I’m also sitting beside him after Julius arrived.“What the fuck?” Marcus mumbled out still staring at her.The lady stood up and was coming towards us.“Who is she?” I asked.“Your fiance’s ex-girlfriend.” Marcus replied with mischievousness glinting in his eyes.“What? How come she is here?” I asked looking back at the lady who was still approaching us.“Mason didn’t tell you they met before you came here? They saw each other coincidentally and talked for a while.” Marcus asked and even though I love that he was telling me the truth to every questions I asked, the way he was so blunt about it amazed me.Now remembering, Mason did tell me he met with her. He had mentioned it when I had confronted him about Anastasia’s comment the first time she saw m
[OLIVIA]We all sat in a circle speaking one after the other with smiles on our faces. Leo was in Julius’ lap with the man’s hoodie held tightly in his grasp, I guess he felt like he was going to disappear again.Laurel had her head on his shoulder with her eyes still dripping and she was occasionally wiping it away. We all just did as if it was normal, the woman was very excited to see her husband again.Turns out I had misunderstood earlier thinking the man was Leo’s biological father. I didn’t know Leo considers Julius his dad nor did I think he would still remember him since he was very young when Julius was put away but the young boy did, he remembers the man who loves him immensely and always read him bedtime stories before sleep.Besides, Laurel said ever since Julius was locked up, she will always show her son pictures of her husband and bring up memories about the three of them just so Leo won’t forget Julius. It was hard because her doing that meant that Leo would be constan
[OLIVIA]“You better shut your mouth, Gray.” Marcus warned. The little boy reached Marcus and hugged his legs while Marcus patted his head. After they were done with their greeting. Marcus took his hand and they walked towards a woman seated on a spread-out fabric. She was already watching us.She smiled as we approach and then stood up.“Lauren.” Marcus smiled before giving her a hug.“I’m so glad you could make it. This one wouldn’t stop asking me when his uncle Marcus would be coming.” The woman said and the little boy looked embarrassed hiding his face behind his palms. So adorable.Marcus knelt on one knee removing the boy’s palms from his face.“Happy birthday, Leo.” He said before stretching out the container of fish rolls and the little wrapped box towards the boy.“My birthday gift?” The boy asked with a tone that made me wonder if he has never received a birthday gift before.“Yes. It’s all yours, buddy. Open it when you get home.” Marcus replied and the boy smiled happily n
[OLIVIA]“Come on Marcus, are you going to ignore me forever?” I whined.Mason has been gone the whole day and I’ve been very bored staying at home. Marcus was still holding a grudge against me because of what happened two days ago. His laptop slipped from my hands, it wasn’t intentional but he does not care whether it was intentional or if it was an accident.I even said I would buy him a new one but he declined. To be honest, I do not think any damage was done to the laptop at all after it fell but Marcus had snatched it away from my hands when I went to pick it. The screen was still on and there wasn’t even a crack. Nevertheless, he claimed I had ruined it and was yelling at me.What upset him the more was the fact that Mason had threatened to break his bones the next time he talks or yells at me the way he did. He has been ignoring me ever since but right now, I really need a companion before I go insane.“Should I cook for you?” I asked him and watched him blink rapidly biting h
[MASON] Everyone was outside preparing to go back to the hotel as the Don refused to spend the night in an unfamiliar environment. I just learned that the hotel they were staying at belongs to one of his close associates and so it was completely safe for him and his family. It was very dark outside and I plan on sending an extra security detail after them. Not being paranoid but one can’t be too careful. Carelessness however brings about nothing but disaster. The Don called me aside and we walked a few distance away from the others.“I just wanted to say, happy birthday.” He said with a slight smile.I checked my watch to see that the time was two minutes to twelve and I chuckled. It was almost the second day and past our birthdays.“I’m still on time.” The Don chuckles and I do the same.“Thanks.” I replied and he nodded before taking out something from his pockets and handing it to me.It was a flash and I was immediately curious to know what was on it.“I’m sorry, for everything.
[OLIVIA] Marcus was in his seat chattering away with Scarlet who was very excited on hearing the new happenings in his life. Thankfully, Scarlet had a rethink at the last minute earlier and pause in her plan of hauling her heel at Marcus. “Soooo, still no girlfriend?” Scarlet asked her brother who cringed at her question. Marcus shook his head and she shifted forwards staring at him differently which made Marcus stared back at her skeptically. “Just tell the truth, brother. Are you asexual?” Scarlet asked seriously. “All because I don’t have time for dating right now?” Marcus rolled his eyes at her. “Then, when will you have the time? You are pushing thirty!” “Get off my case, Scarlet. Here, have this!” Marcus shoved some food into her mouth and she glared at him while chewing at the same time. The sight was quite funny to me and almost everyone at the table found it funny too. “I need to attend to a situation. Will be back in a few minutes.” Mason whispered into my ears and
