29. The Funeral 1

Now, the three looked at each, and mama's countenance changed. Mr. Emma noticed the gloominess on their faces and asked.

“What is the matter? I hope he had not harmed any of the children with the charm?”

At that instance, Evans sat up from his couch and narrated how he got a call from him that Monday Morning. At last, mama summarized how he died in the early hours of that day. After listening to their stories, he looked at Evans and inquired.

“Did I hear you say you planned to send him to India for treatment?”

Evans, who was not aware that he was being sarcastic, responded with enthusiasm

“Yes, my in-law. As a matter of urgency, he would have been transferred the next day if not for the absence of the required documents.”

Then, Uncle Emma shook his head in dejection and inquired rhetorically.

“So, after wasting his life during his youth, he wanted to reap where he did not sow by manipulating his daughter and her husband?”

'Is that all he would say?'
