Caterina stares at herself in the mirror as she tries to recall the last time she got all dressed up. She isn't the type to go out and even when she did, it wasn't to a fancy restaurant like the one Sebastian was taking her to tonight.
The sound of her phone ringing brings her back to reality.
"Hey, I'm outside." Sebastian's voice comes from the other end of the call.
"I'll be right out," She picks up her purse and takes one more glance in the mirror. Her gown is made of luxurious silk fabric, a rich, royal blue. The gown is sleeveless, with a sweetheart neckline that softly frames the face and accentuates the décolletage. The waistline is cinched with a sparkling gemstone belt, which adds a touch of glamour to the gown. The bodice is fitted, accentuating the hourglass figure, and the skirt flows gracefully to the floor, with a gentle train trailing behind, adding an air of regality.
Nodding in approval of her look, she exits her house.
Sebastian smiles as she spots her. He remembers buying her this gown a few months back. She said she wouldn't be wearing it since she had nowhere to wear it to.
"You look stunning," He says as she gets closer to him.
"Thank you," A beautiful smile blooms on her lips, warming up his heart. Acting like she meant nothing more than a friend to him has never been easy for him.
"We should get going," He helps her into his car and drives off.
The ride to the restaurant is long and quiet. Neither one of them says anything, as they were both lost in a world of their own. Caterina was lost in thought about Stephano while Sebastian was trying to figure out how he would convince Caterina to quit her job for a new one.
"We're here," He says.
"It's beautiful, " Caterina says as she climbs out of the car. They enter the building hand in hand only stopping to give the valet the car keys. Soon they are all settled in and ready to order.
"So, why all of a sudden?" Caterina asks.
"What? I can't take you out for no reason at all?"
"You know what I mean,"
"I just wanted to do something nice for you. You've been under a lot of stress lately,"
"Thanks, Seb. You're the best."
"Now, tell me all about that asshole boss of yours. Do I need to beat him up?"
"Oh! There's no need for that. You won't believe what happened today,"
"No, he didn't..." Reading the meaning her words held.
"Well, not completely. Some guy came to my rescue."
"What happened?"
She tells him everything, oblivious to how his blood pressure keeps rising as she talks about this 'Stephano'. He at least has a more solid ground to stand on when he tells her to quit her job.
"Caterina, you know I care about you, right?
"Yeah, I know." She takes a sip of wine as she looks around the restaurant.
"And you know everything I do, I do for you, right?"
"Okay... where's this heading to?"
"I need you to quit your job."
"No."
"Catty, that man is dangerous. Imagine what could have happened if Stephano didn't save you. And by the way, what was a customer doing in that part of the casino?"
"Why do you have to be so negative?"
"Why do you have to be so unrealistic?"
"Can you blame me? My reality sucks!" Catty yells in a silent whisper.
"Catty, I'm... I'm just looking out for you. I care about you way too much to watch you get hurt."
"There's no way I'll go back to being unemployed."
"You won't be unemployed. I have a friend who is looking for house help. All you have to do is tend to his younger sister."
"Ohh..." She takes a while to think about it. "How far is their house from mine?"
"That won't be a problem since you'll be living there with them."
"So, I'll be going there during the week and coming back on the weekends?"
"No...you'll be staying there for as long as you work for them."
"So, what's the point of working if I don't have the time and freedom of the closing hours?"
"Look at it this way, Catty. You've always wanted to open your massage studio, right? Work there till you save up enough money and then you can quit."
"You know I hate living with others,"
"I know, but it's for a good cause."
"Can't I get a job elsewhere?"
"Caterina, I need to be sure you're safe wherever you are and I trust this guy with my life."
"I'll think it over."
"Okay."
A few hours later, the duo are parked in front of Catty's apartment. Sebastian hugs her good night and watches as she walks into her house. He waits till he sees the porch light come on before he drives off. He soon drives into a beautiful street of an estate and parks in front of the biggest mansion. Exiting his car he walks up to the entrance of the mansion and knocks in a specific pattern. The door comes open and he is greeted by a tall man in his mid-twenties.
"Sebastian Riccardo," He is pulled into a giant hug and ushered inside.
"Alessandro, my man." They exchange pleasantries as they make their way up a flight of stairs and into an office.
"So, how did it go?"
"Just as I predicted. She doesn't suspect a thing."
"Good, good. When would she be arriving?"
"I don't know yet. She is a hard woman to convince, but she should be here before the end of the week. If not I'll have to find other ways to convince her."
"I heard her boss is missing,"
"No doubt the work of 'Stephano',"
"Who?"
"Giovanni,"
"Oh, he is deceiving that poor thing even about his name?"
"I'm sure his name should be the least of our concerns. If he took her boss for messing with her, he would be on my tail the moment she disappears."
"Which is why you would have to disappear too.”
Caterina lays in bed, unable to sleep as her mind is plagued with thoughts she desperately wants to forget. All she wants is a good night's sleep, but Mother Nature is not having it. Her desire to talk to someone about her dilemma grew with each passing second, but alas, there was no one she could call. She couldn't call Seb as she needed a different perspective on things and he was all she had.The deafening sound of her phone ringing breaks through the pin-drop silence of midnight. Startled, she reaches for her phone and an unknown number flashes across her phone screen. She hesitates for a few seconds but answers the call against her better judgment. There's dead silence for a few seconds as whoever is on the other end of the call doesn't say a word and neither does she."Caterina?" A familiar masculine voice calls."Sorry, who are you?" She couldn't quite place her hand on it, but she could tell she had heard the voice before. "I wasn't sure you'd answer." The person says with a
Caterina could feel her heartbeat accelerate with each passing second. Not only was she right about being watched, but she realized now that her decision to leave her job and effectively her house had probably saved her from whatever these men had in store for her.The sound of two loud successive thuds brought her frozen mind back to earth and she couldn't believe what just played out in front of her. Sebastian had knocked out the two buff-looking men and they were now lying unconscious on the floor. She eyes him with a shocked, questioning, and admiring look, and he gives her a pointed look as if urging her to get her things. Minutes later, they are back on the road and speeding through the highways. "Are you okay?" Caterina finally asks."Yeah, I'm fine." Sebastian throws her a quick glance "Exactly! How are you okay? Those men had guns, not toy guns from the looks of it,""Of what use is a weapon if you don't know how to use it?" Sebastian knows he is going to have to cook up a
Sebastian and I exchanged looks with each other. His was of assurance, mine was of worry. The last thing I need is to work under this kind of tension. If this is the house I would be working at, I might as well go back to my apartment and be kidnapped by the men in black suits. "Miss Russell, this is Elena Rossi," Sebastian says as he points to my mirror image seated in front of me. Her long brown hair matched with her brown eyes. She held her hair up in a high ponytail, highlighting her round face. She would easily make for my twin sister."This is Alessandro Rossi," He nods at the tall man with grey eyes and dirty blond hair. "and this is Miller." He nods at the buff man with brown eyes and matching brown hair."Meet Miss Caterina Russell, everyone." He concludes as he ushers me to a seat next to my look-alike before sitting the two men. "Miss Russell, it's a pleasure to meet you," Elena says as she reaches out to touch my hair. I smile in response, not knowing how to react."F
Caterina stares at her new room feeling intimidated by the size and beauty of it. It wasn't your everyday house-help quarter. It was an entire suite. The pieces of furniture were polished nude and the lilac colored curtains made the room look like a doll house. The kitchen area can be seen from the living room, only separated by a beaded curtain. All the types of equipment imaginable were neatly arranged, making it look like perfection itself. "Do you want another room?" Elena's voice cuts through her train of thought, bringing her back to earth. "No, this one is perfect. When do I start working?" "Seriously? Most people would want to get to know their doppelganger and all you care about right now is work? Aren't you even slightly curious?" "Everyone has a lookalike. It's nothing special. Besides, I came here to work," "We should at least get to know each other, right? I mean, you'll be following me everywhere from here on out so it's only normal that I ask some questions abo
The atmosphere in the Rossi's mansion was so tense, you could cut through it with a knife. Over one hundred men are scattered all over the mansion with arms of different kinds. Alessandro storms into the mansion from the front door and matches his way up the stairs and straight to Caterina's room."Open this door, you bitch!" He yells as she pounds rapidly on the door. The door is unlocked from the inside, revealing a tired-looking Caterina. She couldn't sleep a wink the night before because of all the noise the men were causing. "Tell me how you did it!" "I don't know what you're talking about!" "Don't play games with me, you witch!" "I really don't know!" "There's a madman out there looking for you. He has burnt down buildings and taken lives just to find you. So tell him what you took from him, or what you did to make him like this!" "You seem to know more about this madman than I do, so if you're not going to tell me what's going on or who is looking for me, I'd like to go b

He knows he can't risk the life of his sister, but losing Caterina's life isn't an option either. However, he knows Giovanni would not cause any harm to her. After much consideration, he decides to move on with plan B."Find an enclosed area and park the car," The driver takes a turn off the main road and drives into a car wash. As if on cue, a Maybach Exelaro follows them in."Caterina, come." Without questioning, Caterina climbs out of the vehicle with Elena following soon after. "Elena, get
It has been hours since Caterina has been in this room. The old raggedy clock on the wall reads 11:15 and the moonlight shines through the boarded-up windows, telling her it is late at night. Her hands were bound behind her back and her legs were tied together. Her stings from the stench of dirty water dripping from the pipes and her body itches from the overall disgust of the room. Different thoughts run through her mind and none of them are pleasant. Just yesterday, her biggest problem was her abusive boss who was already taken care of. Now, she's caught in a Mafia's game. The door swings open reflecting light into the room and the tall figure of a man appears. Without uttering a word, he grabs her by the hair and grabs her out of the room. Caterina bit her lips as she didn't want to give whoever this was the satisfaction of hearing her scream. She is dragged to another room with better illumination and overall clean surroundings. Giovanni paces up and down the room in frustration. He has been at this for days now, trying to get Elena to speak up but her lips are sealed shut. He feels frustrated that she wouldn't give him any information on Caterina whatsoever and the few times she did speak, she would ask why he wants to find her and if he cares about her. Caterina is tired of lying to Giovanni, not because she is touched by his efforts to find her, but because she is tired of his torture methods. Her skin is now covered with stab injuries and infected puncture wounds and she feels sore all over. Her stomach drops as she hears the door open and a familiar sound of footsteps approaching her. She balls her fists in anticipation of the inevitable. "Are you not tired of torturing me?" She asks with spite in her voice."As a matter of fact, I am not." He replies with a blank expression, contrary to the frustration he feels at the thought that Caterina is still yet to be found."This is getting old, just get over
It has been over an hour since Caterina was taken into the operating room. Giovanni had lost his patience twice and he is on the verge of losing it a third time."How did I fail to recognize her?" He asks himself as he paces up and down the room. "She was right in front of me and I didn't even realize it,""She much hates me now."The door to the operating room comes open and the lead surgeon walks out with his face down. Giovanni rushes over to him."How is she?""There's very little hope..." Giovanni finally snaps and draws out his gun."How is she?!" He asks again."We...I...she lost a lot of blood... wasn't brought here in time...she..." A gunshot rings through the hallways and the doctor drops. A pool of blood slowly forms around his now lifeless body. Soon, the waiting area is flooded with security men, doctors, and nurses. The operating room is now in chaos as they realize what has just happened."If she doesn't come out of that room alive, everyone dies. For every ten minute
The De Luca's mansion is as quiet as a graveyard. Men are scattered around the place, armed with ammunition and awaiting orders from their Capo, Giovanni De Luca. Giuseppe walks hurriedly towards the cells to grab Caterina and takes her out of the cell and into the garage. He meets Giovanni who nods at him, signaling for him to leave them."Your people are here for you, Caterina." He says to her.Caterina who is weak and tender falls to the ground. Determined not to give him the satisfaction of breaking her, she chuckles and smiles smugly at him."You are still as dumb as you were yesterday, aren't you Giovanni?" She asks with mockery in her voice."You are yet to answer my question," Giovanni is now skeptical about her identity and questions if she is Elena Rossi."I'm still more than two seconds away from death," She replies."Very well. Get up, let's go.""Where are we going?" Without answering, Giovanni grabs her shoulders and drags her across the concrete floor. She doesn't try
Caterina jerks awake to someone dunking water on her. She is a panicking mess as she tries to figure out what's going on. It takes her a while, but she eventually comes around. The familiar face of Giovanni comes into her line of view making her roll her eyes just to spite him. Her legs and arms feel numb from being tied up to a chair for so long and her wrists have a burn mark from where the rope dogs into her skin."Rise and shine sleepy head," Giovanni says with mockery in his voice."Don't you ever get tired of doing the same thing over and over again?" "Frankly, no.""Seriously? We've been at this for over a week now.""Two weeks actually,""What?!""Yeah, you should really tell me where she is. You're running out of skin to ruin,""Well, maybe when I run out, you'll let me go.""You have two of the most important women in my life held captive. This is only going to get worse for you.""Would you even recognize her if she was standing right in front of you?""Of course," He pic
