Johnny Maddox was not happy at all and everyone around him knew it.It seemed like the past few days things just kept getting out of hand and spinning out of his control. That was not good.Everything had to be in his control because he was in charge, always in charge. Bryan had told him that things at the stash went a bit off. A client’s order had been handled carelessly and he was not happy about it. The people in charge of client’s delivery for some reason thought that they had properly handled the order and delivered it to the right person. Bryan had to remedy the situation and deliver another order this time personally. That resulted in a loss. Johnny did not like losses especially from incompetent folks. Bryan seemed to think that they had been compromised and someone either came snooping or stealing. As for the people in charge of handling his client’s orders, he decided to let them off with a warning. “What did you say?” Bryan asked in disbelief. It was unheard for th
On the way to Jeremy’s house, Charlie texted William to tell him the update so far. He seemed hopeful on the lead to find Joel. Then he told them that they had better brought something reasonable from their trip to the two locations because Harroway had already called to ask for updates on the Diane Wilson case. “Harroway needs to chill, it’s not even being a week.” Charlie said.“Well Harroway doesn’t have a week, and neither do I. The earlier we solve this one, the earlier we can get on with something else.”Jake said.“Now that’s the attitude we need in the FBI.” Charlie rolled her eyes.“The two of you can rush things, but I know slow and steady wins the race.”“Slow and steady? People are dying Kim.”Jake said and they both laughed.“What’s funny?” William asked.“People are actually dying, is the joke that called her Kim instead of Charlie?”“Yup.” Jake replied and glanced sideways at Charlie.Apart from the fact that explaining a joke automatically makes it less funny, they
As Jake sat on the other side of the room , opposite Jeremy he couldn’t stop thinking that there was something odd about him although he couldn’t quite place his finger on it. He and Charlie were engaged in a conversation and his responses seemed calculated like he put a lot of thought into every word that he said which was only normal when talking to the feds. Judging from his line of work, he must have had some experience with this sort of thing. He hadn’t even mentioned that Diane used to work with them or what he did for work even though Charlie tried to trap him into giving those details.Smart guy! They had waited for about thirty minutes before Joel Peters walked into the room. The resemblance was uncanny and it looked like they made deliberate efforts to look so alike it was almost scary. They had the same hair cut and their beards shaved in the same neat fashion. Even their outfits today was identical which Charlie thought was unnecessary. They were in their late twen
When Charlie and Jake were done with the talk with Jeremy and Joel, they had high hopes once again in regards to cracking the case. Joel Peters had admitted that Diane would run errands for them every now and again, but she didn’t get involved with any major deals and he made sure of that. From what he told them, Charlie got to know that Diane did not keep any close friends and was mostly alone so he was sure that she was not moving with a wrong dangerous group. Jeremy however told them that he had noticed Diane seemed very aloof when he’d seen her recently which meant something was definitely off. The person who they could talk to next would have to be her sister who was the same person that had filed a missing person’s report and also confirmed the body of her sister when Diane was found. Charlie asked Joel what the relationship between Diane and her sister was like.He told them that they were two peas in a pod and made sure to talk to each other everyday. They worked toget
Although they hadn't figured out who their main suspect was, Charlie still felt they were on the right track. She and Jake already had a few theories as to what might have happened to Diane, they still needed to have that talk with her sister to put everything into perspective. So far, they knew that Diane was a wild one and might have even gotten herself in more dangerous deals than Joel might have even imagined or maybe Joel Peters was lying and had signed her up for something more dangerous than she or even him had anticipated and poor Diane had taken the fall for it. Diane’s death did not seem like something that happened on accident, it was more of a pre planned and well thought of plan. The poor girl had been carved our and stuffed with drugs like she was a turkey on Thanksgiving. I hate Thanksgiving! Charlie thought as she felt her stomach turn when the got flashes of the gruesome images she had seen. They obviously had been using her corpse to transport illegal drugs in
THIRTYCharlie envisioned a scenario where she told Harroway to her face-“We got your guy, now get out of my hair.” and Harroway would be too stunned go speak. She smiled. It was most likely not going to happen ever, but a girl could dream.Take a girl’s dreams from her and she’d be left with nightmares - or so they said. She sent William a text asking if his wife was ok. Charlie hoped that all was fine with William. Charlie Brown, William Kleinman and Jake Spencer’s relationship had long evolved from just partners to more of friends, best friends even. They both acted like her older brothers and showed her their love and kindness to an extreme extent. Charlie always felt lucky plus she was the envy of most female agents because she so happened to be in the same team with two of the hottest agents in the building. When Charlie had first gotten transferred to their division, everyone treated her as the insignificant rookie and tried to shun her at every opportunity given or take a
Johnny Maddox sat on his office chair, brows furrowed and he appeared to be deep in thought. His gloved hands reached over and touched his silver cross necklace. He had a meeting scheduled for twelve thirty later today but for the first time ever, his prospective meeting wasn't the subject of his thoughts. That girl, he needed to see her again but wasn't quite sure why. Maybe he knew he though but wasn't quite ready to accept that as the truth, it sucked.“She is out of my life, I should be glad but why doesn't it feel right?” he said out loud. That girl was more of a thorn in his flesh that seemed like she belonged there and now that the thorn was gone, his comfort was becoming a little more uncomfortable. His phone buzzed and at first, he was a little embarrassed by how eager he was to go read the text, then he was disappointed when he saw who the text was from.Pink-topped Sara! Are we still down to hang today? Was the text she had sent. She had gotten tired of calling him wh
“Any plans for the evening? You seem to be in a rush to get home.” Jake said as he and Charlie signed out for the day.“Do you have any plans that would involve me?”“I was thinking that maybe after work, we could grab a couple beers.”He replied.“You shouldn't wait till the last minute to ask this hunk of gorgeousness out for the evening.”“But you know it had never been a problem in the past, you user to have an open schedule all day, everyday.”Charlie smiled because she knew that Jake wasn't wrong.“Now things have changed darling, I got plans.”She said proudly“Ooooooh, who’s the new love interest?”Jake asked looking unimpressed. Charlie hesitated a little as she thought about what her response would be.Telling the truth which was that she was trying to stalk the person who had ghosted her out of the blues by going to hang out t the club where they had first met sounded quite silly. “I’m going out alone.” was all she could reply.“Well, great I’ll tag along.”“It needs to
