21. "Desiring the Murderer"

Aaron’s POV

As I walked down the dark street, raindrops pelted my face and soaked through my clothes. Suddenly, I saw Vera standing in the downpour, holding a baby in her arms. Her tears mixed with the rain as she looked at me painedly.

“You killed us, Aaron,” she accused, her voice trembling with emotion.

I raised my hand to reach her, but she remained out of my grasp. I tried to run towards her, but I couldn't get her, no matter how fast I moved.

“If you did not let me leave that night,” she sobbed, “if you hadn't fallen in love with your mate at first sight, then me and my baby could have survived.”

Her words hit me like a ton of bricks. I had made a mistake, a mistake that had cost Vera and her child their lives. I felt a deep sense of regret and sorrow wash over me.

As I stood there, lost in my thoughts, I heard the sound of a car approaching. It was coming towards Vera, who was still standing in the middle of the road.

“Vera! Look out! There’s a car! Run!”
