The carriage comes to a halt at the steps of the palace of Sloria and Dmitri gets off. He has been traveling for three days but he is not tired. Rather, he is distirbed.
Timur and Aryan are waiting for him but he storms right through the doors of the palace, in a hurry. He marches straight for the study with his men in tow.
Aryan clears his throat before addressing the Duke.
“The Council sent us a message,” he states but Dmitri is in no mood to listen. He grabs a large bottle of whiskey and downs it in one go.
“I know!” Dmitri growls. “How dare they…”
He cannot control his anger anymore. The Council has asked for something which is unacceptable for him. He knows very well that the Council members are made of Eduard’s sto
Hi peeps! Please do leave your thoughts, reviews and comments. I'm planning to write a stand alone sequel to this book with Anna as the main character but I'm not sure about it :( This book is my first werewolf novel and I don't know if it's good enough so reviews really do help me to improve <3 Please do let me know your thoughts!
Roseanne’s face is contorted into intense concentration. She is in a small field with Polina and Vanalise. There is a block of wood lying a few feet away from her and she is focusing on it with all her might. She is trying to lift the block with telekinesis but it only shakes a little.“You are too tense,” Vanalise states. “Relax your posture. Focus on the block but don’t stress!”“I am trying,” Roseanne mutters. Polina is watching Roseanne’s training with interest. She is feeling a strange vibe of energy from the Duchess which is more powerful than that of a fae. While faes can do magic, they are not like witches who can derive the magic from the powers of the moon.Faes can merely change the nature of matter from one form to another but a witch can create a mat
“What the hell is all this?” Aryan frowns at the strange sight in front of him. He is in the front yard of the palace with Dmitri, Timur and Leo. Except for Dmitri, everyone else looks as confused as Aryan. Overnight, around a hundred pigeons have been delivered to their palace. The pigeons are all white and are currently locked in cages. They are fluttering around in the large cages, looking innocent and pure. However, the stenches of stool and feathers are lingering in the air which makes the people around the cages cringe. Only Dmitri is smiling as he opens the cage to pet them. One of the pigeons flew to his outstretched hand, cooing. “They are looking fine!” Dmitri compliments the pigeon seller. “Imported from the place you have ordered from,” the seller says in a humble tone. “We have been rearing the
“Very good!” Vanalise exclaims. “That was amazing, Goddess!” Roseanne is flushed with success. She had successfully managed to keep the piece of block afloat for almost half an hour without losing too much energy. Even though her body is still not ready, she is feeling less and less lethargic after each training session. She also broke through Polina’s illusion charms with ease. Polina is also smiling at her Duchess, feeling a little proud. “Gaia is also talking to me a lot now,” Roseanne says. “I can hear her in my head!” “I think we can try summoning her tonight,” Vanalise replies. “It will be much harder than our usual training but we have very less time.” They have only three days left in their hands for the sc
“Prime Minister Antonio.” Antonio looks up from the papers on his desk to find his trusted aide, Brandon, addressing him. “What is it, Brandon?” he asks. Brandon seems to be very troubled and he approaches the table. “I have heard some news which is quite concerning,” he begins. “The Emperor is planning to invade Sloria.” “WHAT?” Antonio exclaims, standing on his feet. “This is outrageous! He cannot invade another country just like that! He must take the approval from the Privy Council first!” “Tristan and Vlad gave their approvals,” Brandon grits. “The Crown Prince also agreed. That is three against two votes. The declaration for war will be made any day.” “On what ch
Roseanne is sitting under the large oak tree, concentrating hard. Her inner mind is focused on Gaia who is also quietly following Roseanne’s wavelength. “Give me your powers, Gaia,” Roseanne speaks in her mind. “I will wield your powers and you will gain control of my body every full moon night to be with your mate. Do it, Gaia.” They are both surrounded by darkness which is almost blinding. Roseanne relaxes herself, ordering her inner mind and Gaia to follow her. Gaia is also trying to align herself with Roseanne, their two minds trying to connect. “I…” Gaia begins as a strange surge of energy starts to engulf her. “I am trying, Roseanne!” Roseanne also feels the force of it which is too much to bear. Her body is shaking as the force of Gaia’s powers nearly to
Venus is fidgeting nervously in the garden, waiting for her spy to return. The news of the impending trial and invasion of Sloria has spread throughout the court and she is scared for her life. Ivan will be sent to Sloria for the trial and she is having a very ominous feeling. To top it all, that damn Roseanne Vadimovna is the Duchess! How did I miss this? Venus wonders. The door opens and a soldier enters the garden. He bows before her but Venus is too impatient.“What news do you have?” she demands.“Your Highness, I had my men ask around in Sloria,” the soldier replies. “They said that the Duke returned alone from Hapsberg and that the Duchess did not return with him.”“What?
Roseanne is shocked to see the despicable smile of Venus. The Empress is holding a knife made of pure mercury against Polina’s neck, pressing it hard. Polina tries to withstand the pain of the mercury which is burning through her skin. The Empress used a mercury substance which caused the explosion and the residue lingering in the air is only making Polina’s pain worse.“What do you want?” Roseanne demands. “Let go of my soldier!”“Then come with us, witch!” Venus snarls. Roseanne looks at her in surprise.“How do you-”Venus’ shrill laughter cuts through her words, making her spine chill.“Of course I know it,” Venus claims. “I always k
“This is Sloria?” Albert gapes at the well developed buildings and streets around him. He has never seen such clean roads with perfectly lined houses which look as if they are owned by rich merchants. There is not a single sign of poverty and every shop is neatly lined along the roads with enough supplies for everyone.Several glasshouses are also placed in several parts of the towns which seem to be housing indoor crops which are being grown for the citizens. Even at night, several sacks of food and grain are being taken out for the delegates who have arrived. Albert, Ivan and Phillippe are sharing a carriage, watching the so-called dumpster of a country in awe.“It seems that Josephine spoke the truth,” Phillippe comments.“Those bloody b*stards!” Ivan snarls. “He ha
