One Hundred and Two

Elen was still strangely flattered that Beatrice agreed to go on a date with him. He stared longingly at her and every time his gaze met hers, his heart turned over in response.

His large hands took her smaller one and held it gently as they walked into the art gallery.

"You go right ahead, I'll get you some wine," Elen said to her when they met a bidding war over a particular piece.

Her response was a nod, and a thin smile. Her response made Elen unsure about this date. She looked restless, and even though she attempted to loosen up, her gaze was unfocused, and she kept shooting him quick, false smiles.

Maybe he was overthinking because of the first rejection from Beatrice, and for Elen, first impressions mattered a whole lot. For her to have boldly declared that she couldn't be with him because he was half human, half werewolf, it sent a warning that maybe he was wasting his time.

He headed to get her some wine, and when he returned, his arm encircled her from behind. He noticed
