One Hundred and Five

Ashanti's gaze was fixed on her daughter, Maya, who was pacing around the room. She sat on an armchair, wondering why Maya looked so restless.

The truth could not be further from the fact that Maya was beginning to reconsider her decision to remain a Lycan or banish her wolf.

Deep down, Ashanti was relieved that the boy Maya had seen was convincing her that being a Lycan was not a death sentence.

Maya paused and looked back at her mother."Why are you staring at me like that?" she inquired, her voice slightly defensive and hands on her hips.

Ashanti shrugged and said nothing. Maya rolled her eyes and groaned into her palm before walking away again, this time to the window that overlooked the backyard.

"Could you please stop being so intrusive, Mom?" Maya asked, with a tired tone that suggested that she was done putting up with her mom.

"I asked you what was eating you up earlier, and you said nothing. You look extremely frustrated. I want to help you, so talk to me, baby."
