One Hundred and Eighteen

Maya lay in her bed, disappointed at herself for falling so cheaply for that idiot Ivan. She tried to numb the emotional pain, but it remained there like a widening gap.

It was so bad that sometimes she forgot to breathe and regretted ever letting Ivan touch her. What was she thinking? She had no idea who he was, and just because they shared some stupid bond didn't mean she should throw herself on him like a desperado.

She wasn't looking for love because there were lots of boys in the human world. She hated herself so much and wished this hadn't happened. Every time she replayed the moment she spent with him and at the same time wondered how he could lie to her so convincingly and how she could have been so blind to his deception, it made her chest clench.

Everyone in the pack house was concerned, especially Maya's parents. From time to time, she could hear their voices outside her door, concerned, and each time they asked her to open the door, she would pull the covers tighter around
