Celest’s POV

Rage coarsed through my body like a flowing river. If only I had some strength in me. My limbs felt like lead, my vision had blurred badly, and my throat burned from trying to scream. But no sound came out. I could only watch.

So I did. I watched as Magnus, bloodied and surrounded, stood his ground. I watched as the hybrids slowly closed in on him, hungry and anxious to kill. I heard Drace laugh. He was so confident, thinking he’s won.

Magnus wasn’t supposed to be here. He wasn’t supposed to fight for me. Yet, he had. He always did. And now, because of me, he was trapped and about to die. I won’t let this happen.

The moment the thought formed, something changed. It was subtle at first. A glint of warmth rushing under my skin, like a spark waiting to ignite. Then the surge came.

It erupted from inside me like a blast of light, rushing through my veins, and clearing off the weakness I felt. The drugs began to fade, like something inside me had finally broken free.

Magnus’s POVI needed no map to guide me through the jungle, my instinct had always been enough. No birds. No insects. Just the whisper of rustling leaves. As if the trees themselves were warning me.I pulled on the reins, forcing my horse to a stop. We were not alone. Two glowing eyes emerged first. Then another, and another.A breath caught in my throat as their monstrous forms took shape. So, they were real after all.The night stalkers.Ancient, beast-like creatures that haunted the jungle, feared by both werewolves and Lycans alike. And it wanted my blood. The attack came fast.I barely had time to react, launching myself off my horse just as the beast’s claws swiped through the

I had agreed to work with him—but I wasn’t naïve enough to think he’d simply trust me.Drace was a strategist, a man who loved control. He wouldn’t risk letting me get close to Celest without ensuring his leverage remained intact. When he was done, he stepped back and watched me. “I knew you’d see reason,” he said. “But don’t get any ideas, Magnus.”His tone had changed and I expected a surprise“Celest has already been poisoned.”My body tensed. Celest’s POV The chains were cold, tight around my wrists. My body felt weak—too weak—but my mind was aware, feeling everything. Drace stood before me, "You look surprised," he crossed his arms as he leaned against the wooden table beside him. "Did you really think he would come save you?" I kept my expression blank, refusing to give him the satisfaction of a reaction. He chuckled. "I must admit, Magnus is smarter than I gave him credit for. He knew what was at stake. The moment he realized you had been poisoned, he folded like a well-trained pup." Liar. Magnus would never submit to him so easily. Drace must have seen the doubt in my eyes as he walked closer. “Oh, Celest. You should have seen it. He didn’t even hesitate. He agreed to work with me the second I threatened your life.” He tilted his head mockingly. “Maybe you’re that important to him as you thought or maybe he simply realized his own survival was more valuable than yours.” He sighed when I didn't react again. “It’s a sham

Celest’s POVThe piano was my shield. Every night, I hid behind its polished wood and ivory keys, letting the music drown out the whispers that followed me through life. Tonight, I played Chopin's Nocturne in E-flat major, my mother's favorite. My fingers knew the melody by heart, each note a memory of her teaching me, her hands guiding mine across these same keys years ago.The private club’s usual crowd of Manhattan’s supernatural elite buzzed around me, their conversations a distant hum beneath the music. Crystal glasses clinked, expensive perfumes mingled with aged whiskey, and I remained invisible. Just another human employee. Or so they thought. Just the piano girl.Until he ruined everything. Until he noticed me when all I wanted was not to be noticed.I had been warned about wolves like him.Earlier that evening, in the staff lounge, Estel had pulled me aside."Celest, you need to be careful," she whispered, her gaze darting around the scattered break room. "You work around th

Celest’s POV My breathing was still uneven, my body humming with the aftermath of what had just happened.Him.I blushed as the feeling of satisfaction enveloped me.I could still feel his touch on my skin, every trace of heat he had left behind. My lips tingled, swollen from his kisses, and my body ached in the most desirable way. What the hell had I done?I turned my head slightly, watching him.He lay beside me, his bare chest rising and falling in deep, controlled breaths, but he wasn’t asleep. No, I could tell he was awake by the way his fingers idly traced my wrist where he had gripped me earlier. His touch was light now, almost absentminded, yet possessive in a way that made my blood run cold.I shouldn’t have let this happen. But I did.And damn it, I enjoyed every second of it. The way he drove himself inside me, fast, precise and wild.It started with the tension, the way his voice had darkened when he asked who I was, the way his grip had tightened around me as if he alrea

Celest's POVThe city lights that pierced the darkness through the window reminded me that there were some things I could never afford no matter how hard I tried. Looking at Leon Vaughn as he waited for my reply, the smell of the hospital's antiseptic stench burned my nostrils. "I appreciate the offer," I said, hoping that my voice didn't waver despite the exhaustion coursing through me. "But I'll handle it myself."Leon's dark eyes scrutinised me as though I were an especially intriguing riddle that he was unable to fully unravel. He probably spent more than three months' worth of my rent on his expertly tailored suit, but he wore it with the same casual disregard for its value as most people wear t-shirts."Stubborn as always," he mused, dipping his hands into his pockets. A small smile tugged at the corner of his lips, “But you do realize you wouldn't even have a hospital bed for your brother if not for me?"The words hit like a physical blow, though I'd suspected as much. The doc

Magnus POVI hadn’t meant to mark her again. It was instinct. A primal move that I should have controlled, but the moment Celest's neck became visible to me, I snapped. Now, carrying her unconscious body to my car, I knew the consequences. My mark still shone visibly on her skin, her fragile human skin. I mumbled a low growl in my throat as I slid into the backseat with her. Her body was entangled with mine, mixing my scent against hers—pleasurable.“Drive,” I ordered. The driver nodded without question. Nathan was sitting across from me. He had been silent since I dragged Celest away from that pitiful golf course, his eyes moving from me to her.“She’s just a human,” he finally muttered, his eyes darting towards the window and Celest.I said nothing.“She reeks of it,” Nathan continued. “No heightened senses, no trace of supernatural blood. Just…ordinary.”I looked down at Celest’s face. Her lips were slightly parted, her brows furrowed as if she was battling her unconscious. Everyt

Celeste POVPanic gripped me the moment I woke up. Where was I?I pushed myself up on the mattress, my body sore all over. The last thing I remembered was collapsing—everything had gone black after that. But now, I was in what appeared to be a bedroom fit for only royal people. The door creaked open, and I flinched. A middle-aged woman stepped inside, carrying a tray of food. "You're awake," she said softly, setting the tray on a table beside the bed. "How are you feeling?""Where am I?" I asked, anxious for a reply. She hesitated before responding. "You're in Master Magnus’s villa. He arranged for you to be treated after you collapsed and returned from the hospital. You were severely malnourished and exhausted."Magnus. The man who had accused me of being a spy, who had imprisoned me.I swallowed hard, my heart thumping loudly in my ear "And my brother?"The woman did not hesitate. "He’s safe. His medical expenses have been covered."My breath caught. "What?""Master Magnus has en

Magnus’s POVThe first chance I get, I will have his head. Then, I'll feed it to the birds of the sky. The manipulative bastard. He had turned to address everyone at once."You've all seen it with your own eyes," he said, gesturing toward Celest. "The only person your Alpha found worthy of his love is nothing more than a hybrid—one of us." His lips curled in. "And yet, you follow this Lycan king blindly?"Murmurs spread through the crowd. Some Alphas cast glances at one another. A few even lowered their heads in thought.Drace was winning with his words. He had struck a nerve. But to what end?"You fear change," he continued, pacing slowly in front of them. "But let me tell you something—our time has come. The age of Lycans and pureblooded werewolves ruling over us is over. We are stronger, smarter. If you side with me now, I will ensure your survival in the new world order."He turned, his eyes sweeping over the room. "But if you stand with Magnus, you are signing your own death war

  • Lycan King's Hybrid Captive   Chapter 30

Celest’s POV Darkness. It was the first thing I felt when I opened my eyes. It was always the first thing. My body ached, my limbs trembling as I lay tired on the cold floor. The smell of herbs, damp stone and magic was normal around here now. Since the first day Drace and his witch forced that liquid down my throat, I had become a lab rat for all other kinds of rituals. My room, or prison to be exact, was usually kept dark except for days when the witch had an appointment with me. Like today, a candle had been lit to illuminate the room. Another session.I tried to move, but the chains wrapped around my wrists and ankles burned against my skin. They had been laced with spells that drained my strength and inner powers. So I was basically at the mercy of my captors. I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to block out the fear that clawed at my chest. But it was useless. The door creaked open. Soft footsteps echoed through the chamber, filling my mind with dread. Then, a voice."Still aliv

Magnus’s POV I took a deep breath, forcing myself to remain calm. Zara was still watching me from across the conference hall, a smug look on her face. She had backed me into a corner and thought I had no choice but to accept her offer. She was wrong.“I’ll return with an answer soon,” I told her before I walked out. I didn't wait for her response, but I knew I had to give her something before I left here today. The Werewolf Alliance Conference was still not over yet. Information has been passed around that there was one more agenda to trash, so we were all waiting. I took my place a few seats away from Zara, ignoring the political discussions around me as I focused on what truly mattered—finding Celest. The thought of her out there alone, possibly in danger, ignited rage inside me. She was reckless, stubborn, and far too brave for her own good. But she was also mine. And I needed to find her.A conversation between two warriors picked my interest. “I heard he's already here.” one o

Magnus’s POVThe battlefield was drenched in blood. We had chased the rebels away as far as possible. The moon goddess has been on our side tonight and I was happy to bask in the moment, watching my soldiers cut down the remaining hybrid rebels. Corpses littered the ground, some still shaking in their final moments, saying their final prayers. I wasn't exactly satisfied. I needed to find and kill one man—Drace. My instincts screamed that he was still here, watching, waiting. I tightened my grip on my weapon, my patience wearing thin. "Find him," I ordered the warriors closest to me.Just as I turned, a blur of movement shot through the smoke. A figure darted between fallen bodies, slipping through the shadows like a ghost.Drace.My muscles tensed. “Stop him!”My warriors lunged after him, but he was fast—too fast. He weaved through the carnage, avoiding the outstretched hands reaching to capture him.I clenched my jaw. Enough. In rage, I leaped forward, closing the distance in a hea

Celest’s POV Leon gone, possibly never to be seen again, I was ready for everything ahead of me. But nothing had prepared me for the horror that awaited me when I reached the border. The battlefield stretched like a thousand miles before me, a horrible display of war’s merciless nature. The ground was slick with blood, bodies of Lycan, werewolves and hybrids alike spread across the land. The scent of death was everywhere, mingling with the acrid stench of burning flesh. How do I find him in the pile of these bodies? Oh, Magnus… where are you?My heart shook with each step, my eyes scanning the sea of corpses, dreading the possibility of seeing his lifeless body among them. My hands trembled as I lifted a fallen soldier’s cloak similar to his, only to sigh in relief when I realized it wasn’t him.But the relief was gradually fading with no sign of him. I could get lost if I kept going on, so I needed to think my next action through. I didn't have the luxury before a sharp pain explod
