Celest’s POV

Leon’s car pulled up in front of an extravagant hotel. The lights, the cars, the people getting off their cars, everything screamed wealth. My fingers clutched the hem of my dress, my hands shaking slightly.

“This… this is a high-profile event,” I murmured, glancing at Leon as he parked. “Are you sure I should be here?”

Leon shot me a smile, his dark eyes warm. “Of course. You need a distraction, and besides…” His voice dipped slightly. “I wanted to introduce you to some influential people. You never know who might be willing to help.”

I bit my lip. A part of me felt guilty for accepting his help, but another part knew I had no other choice. My brother’s surgery depended on it.

Leon stepped out first, circling around to open my door like a perfect gentleman. He extended a hand, and I hesitated before placing mine in his.

I caught sight of our reflections in the sleek surface of his car, he looked effortlessly refined in his black suit, while I… I barely recognize myself

Celest POVI had never felt so helpless before. I was in the same room with this man everyone dreaded. I was in his domain and although he had promised not to hurt me if I stayed put, the fear didn't leave. Eventually, I had no choice but to face the reality of my situation. My brother’s life was at stake, and I was willing to do anything to ensure his survival.I had dropped my pride moments earlier when I begged him to save my brother's life. So, I just sat bare on the floor staring at him, his back to me as he stared outside the window. His golden eyes reflected in the glass, making me wonder what he was looking at. “I’ll do whatever you want,” I whispered, my voice barely above a breath. “Just protect my brother.”His head tilted slightly, and for a moment, there was only silence. Then, he turned and fixed his eyes on me.“Anything?” he mused, stepping toward me slowly, but deliberate to scare me.I held my ground, even as my knees threatened to give out. “Yes.”Something was a

Magnus’s POV A low growl rumbled from Leon throat to distract me, but I barely acknowledged him. My gaze was solely on her.The little traitor. My claws were open on both hands as I took slow, deliberate steps toward her. Her breath had transitioned into gasps, her small frame wanting to disappear as I kept my eyes fixed into hers.“What,” I said, trying to keep my tone down, “are you doing here?”She swallowed hard, lowering her head as if looking at me was too much to bear. “I…” She hesitated. My patience thinned. “Answer me.”She flinched. “I—I must have sleepwalked.”Silence.For a moment that seemed like eternity, the only sound was the rustling of leaves in the wind. My wolf stirred within, probably amused at the excuse.Sleepwalked?A cold smirk pulled at my lips, though there was nothing pleasant about it. “Sleepwalked?” I repeated slowly, letting the weight of the word sink in.She nodded, still refusing to face me.I laughed. A quiet, mirthless sound that sent a certain awk

Celest POVI could still hear Leon’s shouts in my mind and the sound of his struggles as Magnus’s men dragged him away. My heart felt for him, but there was nothing I could do. He wasn't who I thought him to be, so that was his cross to bear. Right now, all I had on my mind was survival. Magnus’s arms around me reminded me of my current state as he carried me effortlessly toward his chambers. His steps were slow like he was savoring his glory moment. I had made a mistake. A terrible, punishable mistake. I had underestimated him; how dangerous he truly was. The massive doors of his quarters creaked open before us. The room inside was just as I remembered—dark. The scent of leather and fur rested in the air, mixed with faint traces of dried blood. My body trembled as we got inside. He threw me onto the bed, the impact rippling through me. I swallowed hard as he loomed over me, his golden eyes the only thing I could see. "Tell me," he whispered in a deep voice. "Did you really

Celest POVI pressed my back against the wall, my heart beat increasing. The voices inside the office continued, oblivious to my presence."The person in charge wants her to come up with five million as soon as possible," the doctor muttered. "They want to push her into desperation so that she submits completely."A nurse clicked her tongue in disapproval. "But it seems someone has already paid a huge sum toward her brother’s medical fees. Who would do that?"I sucked in a sharp breath. They were talking about me and my brother. Someone paid? The doctor exhaled heavily. "Who knows? But it doesn’t matter. I’ll issue another critical condition notice to squeeze more out of her. She’ll have no choice but to beg for help again. Eventually, she’ll understand who is truly supporting her."A cold chill ran down my spine. This is all a manipulation.I gritted my teeth as I absorbed their words, my hands clenched into fists at my sides."The latest technology, the high-risk procedures—it’s al

Magnus’ POVThe room was silent. The only noise was the ticking of the antique clock on the wall. The scent of fresh coffee was in the air too, mixing with the smell of my leather chair. It's been a while since I sat in this office. My senses were heightened this morning and I wondered why. My fingers hovered over the documents on my desk, but I had yet to read a single word.Instead, my mind kept drifting back to her.Of course she was the reason for my distraught self. I tapped my fingers against the desk, irritated by the distraction. She should be at the hospital now, dealing with her brother’s affairs. I had sent bodyguards to keep an eye on her, yet the thought of her outside my grasp made me unrest.I scowled. Why do I even care?“She’s occupied your mind, hasn’t she, boss?”I looked up sharply. My assistant, Nathan, stood near the door, his arms crossed and an amused smirk playing on his lips.I leaned back in my chair, glaring at him. “Careful, Nathan. You’re overstepping.

Magnus’ POV She should be back by now.I wasn’t impatient, I had no reason to be. It wasn’t as if I cared about her whereabouts beyond keeping her in check. But something felt off.I picked up my phone and dialed. The call connected immediately.“Where is she?” I asked, my voice calm, measured. The bodyguard chuckled lightly on the other end. “She’s picking out something for you, boss. A surprise.”I froze.“A surprise?”“She stopped by a dessert shop. Said she wanted to buy you something.”Something unfamiliar started to grow in my chest. Is she buying something for me? Voluntarily?I leaned back in my chair, exhaling slowly.“She should be heading back soon,” the bodyguard added. For the first time in a long while, I didn’t quite know how to react. Had I misjudged her? Had she finally learned that submitting wasn’t the same as surrendering?I was still trying to process the idea when the bodyguard’s tone abruptly changed.“…Wait.”My fingers held the phone closer to my ear. “What?”

Celest’s POV The doctor's loud laughter rang through the warehouse. He laughed hard till his voice started to crack. “You really think I’m scared of some unknown man?” he mocked, shaking his head. “I don’t know who fills your head with such fantasies, but let me tell you something, girl.”He leaned in closer, his body language condescending.“You’re nothing more than an orphan, a pathetic little girl with a half-dead brother. You have nothing and no one. Who do you think will come running to save you?”I bit the inside of my cheek, forcing myself to stay neutral. He wanted a reaction, he wanted to see me panic.I wouldn’t give him the satisfaction. He didn't know Magnus and that was why he had the right to say all these. Magnus would be here anytime soon, I hoped. That's if I wasn't dead before he found me. At a time like this, I needed his protection. He was the only one who could save me. But first I had to keep the doctor busy talking, just to buy some time. He chuckled dark

Celest’ POV Through the haze of dust and flashing lights, I could doubt it wasn't him. But there was no denying when he finally marched into the light. He had stepped down from the helicopter like a god descending from the heavens. Like a movie scene, his long coat billowed behind him, and his eyes peered straight down where I sat. I could tell from how their legs shook the thugs were frightened by his presence. And then, he made it worse. "Who dares touch my people?" His voice thundered through the warehouse, deep and commanding like a death sentence.A chilling silence followed. The remaining thugs who were not harmed by the broken windows froze, their weapons shaking in their hands. Some even dropped them entirely, as if realizing that fighting back was futile.Magnus’s men fanned out, their claws outstretched, every last one of them. It was over.Or so I thought.Suddenly, a sting pressed against my throat.I took in a deep breath, my body going rigid as I realized the doctor

Celest’s POV The chains were cold, tight around my wrists. My body felt weak—too weak—but my mind was aware, feeling everything. Drace stood before me, "You look surprised," he crossed his arms as he leaned against the wooden table beside him. "Did you really think he would come save you?" I kept my expression blank, refusing to give him the satisfaction of a reaction. He chuckled. "I must admit, Magnus is smarter than I gave him credit for. He knew what was at stake. The moment he realized you had been poisoned, he folded like a well-trained pup." Liar. Magnus would never submit to him so easily. Drace must have seen the doubt in my eyes as he walked closer. “Oh, Celest. You should have seen it. He didn’t even hesitate. He agreed to work with me the second I threatened your life.” He tilted his head mockingly. “Maybe you’re that important to him as you thought or maybe he simply realized his own survival was more valuable than yours.” He sighed when I didn't react again. “It’s a sham

Magnus's POV I was infuriated at his laughter. He laughed so hard, tears were about to fall from his eyes. I had agreed to work with him—but I wasn’t naïve enough to think he’d simply trust me.Drace was a strategist, a man who loved control. He wouldn’t risk letting me get close to Celest without ensuring his leverage remained intact. When he was done, he stepped back and watched me. “I knew you’d see reason,” he said. “But don’t get any ideas, Magnus.”His tone had changed and I expected a surprise“Celest has already been poisoned.”My body tensed. Drace’s smile widened. He was savoring my reaction.I took a slow step forward. “You’re bluffing.”Drace chuckled. “Am I?” He gestured toward one of his men, who immediately retrieved a small glass bottle containing a murky, greenish liquid. “This is what’s flowing through her veins as we speak. A rare toxin derived from the Venin Serpent.”I knew that name. A venom so potent that it didn’t kill instantly—but rather, it bound itself to

Magnus’s POVI needed no map to guide me through the jungle, my instinct had always been enough. No birds. No insects. Just the whisper of rustling leaves. As if the trees themselves were warning me.I pulled on the reins, forcing my horse to a stop. We were not alone. Two glowing eyes emerged first. Then another, and another.A breath caught in my throat as their monstrous forms took shape. So, they were real after all.The night stalkers.Ancient, beast-like creatures that haunted the jungle, feared by both werewolves and Lycans alike. Their massive, mutated wolf-like bodies loomed in the shadows. Elongated limbs twisted unnaturally, jagged spikes jutted from their backs, their yellow eyes gleaming with hunger. Canines dripped with venom, saliva sizzling where it met the ground. One stepped forward, sniffing the air. It knew what I was. And it wanted my blood. The attack came fast.I barely had time to react, launching myself off my horse just as the beast’s claws swiped through the

Celest’s POV Rage coarsed through my body like a flowing river. If only I had some strength in me. My limbs felt like lead, my vision had blurred badly, and my throat burned from trying to scream. But no sound came out. I could only watch. So I did. I watched as Magnus, bloodied and surrounded, stood his ground. I watched as the hybrids slowly closed in on him, hungry and anxious to kill. I heard Drace laugh. He was so confident, thinking he’s won.Magnus wasn’t supposed to be here. He wasn’t supposed to fight for me. Yet, he had. He always did. And now, because of me, he was trapped and about to die. I won’t let this happen. The moment the thought formed, something changed. It was subtle at first. A glint of warmth rushing under my skin, like a spark waiting to ignite. Then the surge came. It erupted from inside me like a blast of light, rushing through my veins, and clearing off the weakness I felt. The drugs began to fade, like something inside me had finally broken free.Drace f

Magnus’s POVThe first chance I get, I will have his head. Then, I'll feed it to the birds of the sky. The manipulative bastard. He had turned to address everyone at once."You've all seen it with your own eyes," he said, gesturing toward Celest. "The only person your Alpha found worthy of his love is nothing more than a hybrid—one of us." His lips curled in. "And yet, you follow this Lycan king blindly?"Murmurs spread through the crowd. Some Alphas cast glances at one another. A few even lowered their heads in thought.Drace was winning with his words. He had struck a nerve. But to what end?"You fear change," he continued, pacing slowly in front of them. "But let me tell you something—our time has come. The age of Lycans and pureblooded werewolves ruling over us is over. We are stronger, smarter. If you side with me now, I will ensure your survival in the new world order."He turned, his eyes sweeping over the room. "But if you stand with Magnus, you are signing your own death war

  • Lycan King's Hybrid Captive   Chapter 30

Celest’s POV Darkness. It was the first thing I felt when I opened my eyes. It was always the first thing. My body ached, my limbs trembling as I lay tired on the cold floor. The smell of herbs, damp stone and magic was normal around here now. Since the first day Drace and his witch forced that liquid down my throat, I had become a lab rat for all other kinds of rituals. My room, or prison to be exact, was usually kept dark except for days when the witch had an appointment with me. Like today, a candle had been lit to illuminate the room. Another session.I tried to move, but the chains wrapped around my wrists and ankles burned against my skin. They had been laced with spells that drained my strength and inner powers. So I was basically at the mercy of my captors. I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to block out the fear that clawed at my chest. But it was useless. The door creaked open. Soft footsteps echoed through the chamber, filling my mind with dread. Then, a voice."Still aliv

Magnus’s POV I took a deep breath, forcing myself to remain calm. Zara was still watching me from across the conference hall, a smug look on her face. She had backed me into a corner and thought I had no choice but to accept her offer. She was wrong.“I’ll return with an answer soon,” I told her before I walked out. I didn't wait for her response, but I knew I had to give her something before I left here today. The Werewolf Alliance Conference was still not over yet. Information has been passed around that there was one more agenda to trash, so we were all waiting. I took my place a few seats away from Zara, ignoring the political discussions around me as I focused on what truly mattered—finding Celest. The thought of her out there alone, possibly in danger, ignited rage inside me. She was reckless, stubborn, and far too brave for her own good. But she was also mine. And I needed to find her.A conversation between two warriors picked my interest. “I heard he's already here.” one o

The moon goddess has been on our side tonight and I was happy to bask in the moment, watching my soldiers cut down the remaining hybrid rebels. Corpses littered the ground, some still shaking in their final moments, saying their final prayers. I wasn't exactly satisfied. I needed to find and kill one man—Drace. My instincts screamed that he was still here, watching, waiting. I tightened my grip on my weapon, my patience wearing thin. "Find him," I ordered the warriors closest to me.Just as I turned, a blur of movement shot through the smoke. A figure darted between fallen bodies, slipping through the shadows like a ghost.Drace.My muscles tensed. “Stop him!”My warriors lunged after him, but he was fast—too fast. But nothing had prepared me for the horror that awaited me when I reached the border. The battlefield stretched like a thousand miles before me, a horrible display of war’s merciless nature. The ground was slick with blood, bodies of Lycan, werewolves and hybrids alike spread across the land. The scent of death was everywhere, mingling with the acrid stench of burning flesh. How do I find him in the pile of these bodies? Oh, Magnus… where are you?My heart shook with each step, my eyes scanning the sea of corpses, dreading the possibility of seeing his lifeless body among them. My hands trembled as I lifted a fallen soldier’s cloak similar to his, only to sigh in relief when I realized it wasn’t him.But the relief was gradually fading with no sign of him.
