I immediately returned the call. It rang, but no one was picking up. I didn't give up on the call, I kept calling, but the same negative result.

At some point, I got tired and dropped my phone on the bed when suddenly, my phone rang again. So, I picked.

On the phone…

“Hello…” I said.

“Yeah, what's up?” The voice asked, and it sounded familiar. That was Gerard's voice.

“Gerard?” I called.

“Yeah.” He responded.

“Gosh, I've been worried about you. You didn't call or text me.” I sounded worried.

“I'm deeply sorry. A lot happened… like I had much work at the office and I didn't even get a little time to call or text you. I'm truly sorry.” He apologized. Hearing him speak calmed me. My anxiety was all gone. It was a thing of joy when I heard his voice once again.

“It's fine. I'm not angry or sad… I was only worried about you. So, how are you doing?” I asked with a calm voice, blushing, and waited for his reply.

“Not bad. I'm fine.”

“What about your injury? I hope you aren't missing
