Two months later
Alex's POV.Sarah had taken over the position of the Alpha of the Pack and as the days went by, we began to bound. And I even planned to have a dinner date with her tonight to make her take her mind off things for now; she seemed to be hiding a lot of things that hurt her.It was 2pm, and I had been watching the clock for so long that I felt tired of waiting and bored as well. I grabbed my phone from the bedside table while seated on the edge of the bed and dialed Sarah's number. She didn't pick up until the fourth attempt.“Hey, Sarah. How are you doing?” I asked sharply, taking a deep breath along the line.“I'm good….” She paused, expecting me to state my reasons for calling.I guess she isn't the type that has much time to ideal around like me.“I was just calling to check up on you, if that's fine by you.” I stuttered in a low tone.“Of course, it's fine by me. So, if you don't have anything else to say, I would love to hang up now.”“Wait!”“Yes?” She said swiftly, like she was in a kind of hurry.“Are you busy?” I asked out of my subconscious mind.“Can you just go straight to the point, Alex? What's going on?” She snapped.“I just wanted to ask if you're still coming for the date.”“I agreed to it, didn't I? Of course, I'll be there.”“Okay, bye then.” I said and ended up the call, nervously.Anxiety and fear got the best part of me. Over the few months I've gotten to know Sarah, I think she was the one I was waiting for.My mate? Oh, there's a sad story and mystery behind that. But a hint is that Marcus killed her, and the thought of it just want to make me slit his throat. This time, I would make sure I didn't lose my grip on Sarah. I had decided to ask her to be my girlfriend tonight, which is why I'm more nervous, but I must get it together before she gets here. The dinner was scheduled for 8:00. By, 7pm, I began to prep the house for the arrival of the one person that matters most to me at the moment. I spread petals over the floor, decorated a new walkway with scented candles, and also set the table. The meal I prepared was Yamarita and wine, I knew this was her favorite. After the preparation, I walked to the living room and looked at the wall clock: it said 7:45. I began to sweat as I began nervous again, this reminded me of when I first saw my mate, Beth.Beth was the granddaughter of Mrs. Elise and all that she had left, she almost lost her life when she heard of Beth's death. And I almost lost it as well, she was the best thing that had ever happened to me and I think I still love her.The first day we met was at an eatery after school, my mom took me out for lunch. So was Mrs. Elise, and she kept winking at me, making me so nervous that I spilled the wine on my shirt.“Shit!” I cussed as I tried to dust off the stain, but it would bugle. While trying to clean it up, I could hear silent giggles, and I looked up to see Beth laughing at me.“How did you spill the win over your shirt?” My mom attempted to shake it off as well, but it was all in vain.“I'll go use the restroom, mom.” I said and went into the restroom.Still busy with adjusting my shirt, I failed to notice the person walking toward me until I felt a pat on my shoulder and a familiar giggle. My heart skipped a beat as I turned back and realized it was the girl who was winking at me.“I'm Beth.” She stretched her hand out for a shake, which I rejected politely.“You are not supposed to be here.” I whispered after some seconds of rethinking what she was doing in a male restroom.“But I have a guest here, don't I?”. She teased seductively as she moved closer to me and ran her hands down my body.It was the first time I was being touched by someone. To the best of my knowledge, only my mom had touched me. This isn't the first time I would be seeing Beth, and that's what makes me more nervous because I've dreamt of this day for a long time; I had always loved her and wished that she would notice me, but she only rolled out with the rich folks in the school.Seeing her trying to seduce me is like a dream I never want to wake up from.“I'm Alex.” I managed to say in my shaking breath.“That's nice. Let's meet some other time and have a good conversation.” She said as she brought out her card from her purse and handed it to me.“I'll be expecting your call.” She winked seductively and swayed her waist out of the bathroom.I still couldn't believe my eyes and felt like I was dreaming, but it was all true. We were 16 at the time and when we clocked 18 and realized that we were mates, things even got more intimate with us. Until death snatched her from me.A knock on the door shook me out of my thoughts of remembrance, and my eyes fell on the clock: it was 8:04pm. I went to the door, opened it and waved at Sarah, I know it was a stupid thing to do, and I don't even know why I did it.“I'm sorry I'm late.” She apologized with a smile as she stepped into the house.“It's fine, it's just four minutes. Nothing could have gone wrong.”“Everything can go wrong within a minute.” She snapped and exhaled deeply when she realized what she had said. “I apologize for letting you see that side of me. I just feel like time should..... People should know that it's important and shouldn't be neglected or abused.” She added.“It's fine.” I scoffed softly.“This is beautiful, it must have taken a lot of work.” She commended my decors and I could feel butterflies in my belly.“It's nothing, actually. Let's have dinner.” I said and led her to the dinning room.Pulled out a chair for her to seat, served her meal and sat beside her. After some minutes, we were done eating and the room was silent, I was about to say what was on my mind when she broke the silence.“You know, I've dated a couple of guys. Just to fill the void, I had in my heart…. The void my parents left in my heart, but none filled that space.” A tear rolled down her cheek and she was quick to wipe it off.Judging by the look on her face, it would be best if I listened to her.“That was why I decided to get a better life for myself. Live beyond living for my parents, to fill their void, or to go into any relationship.” She slightly lifted her head to fight back the tears that were threatening to drop.“It's okay now, Sarah. You have that life now.”“Thanks.” She sniffed and adjusted her face with a handkerchief.“I have a question.”. My voice was low and timid.I could feel goosebumps all over my body, but I couldn't let my nervousness get to me this time.“Sure, go ahead. What is it you want to ask me?”“What advice would you give to a man who's in love with you at the moment?”“Wow! Man, calm down. I know what this game is about. You're asking me what's on your mind.” She adjusted the chair, dragging it closer to me and leaned a hand on the table to rest her head on, while staring deep into my eyes.“I'll say to the man, the man asking the question, that he better not try it if he values this friendship.”"Oh!” I nodded.Grabbed the glass of wine and sipped it.“I'll like to be on my way now.” She got up.“Sure. Let me see you off.”I grabbed the keys to the house, we stepped out of the house and I locked the door. We walked side by side alone in the tall tree's pathway while I was humming a love song that used to be Beth's favorite. Suddenly, Sarah halted.“Did you hear that?”“Hear what? I didn't hear anything, let's go.”We were about to take the next step when a wolf jumped at our front. Quickly, I gently shoved Sarah behind me, took a defensive stance and was ready to fight. The fight between us only lasted a few minutes, as the wolf ran off before we could identify it.“It's getting more dangerous to roam around the Pack aimlessly. I think you should be more careful now. They would aim at you the most.” I tilted my head and said.“What do you mean they?”“Marcus's pack! They would stop at nothing to get you.” My voice this time, was alarming and sacred.“Is there more to this? Something I do not know about?”Sarah sat around the bonfire with her pack, deep in discussion about how they were going to overcome the rival pack who had been encroaching on their territory and taking away some of their resources. Alex, a strong and experienced member of the pack, was the first to speak up."I think we need to hit them where it hurts,"he said, his eyes glowing in the firelight. "We know where they're getting their water from. If we can cut off their supply, they'll be weaker and more vulnerable."The woman who had taken Sarah in nodded in agreement. "That's a good idea, Alex. But we need to be careful. We don't want to start a war that we can't win."Sarah listened intently, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. She had noticed one of their members, a man she didn't know very well, acting suspiciously. He kept glancing around nervously as if he was afraid of being caught.Suddenly, the man caught Sarah's gaze and immediately got up and ran away."Hey, wait!"Sarah called out, j
The next morning, Sarah grunted softly as she tossed around the bed. She slowly opened her eyes and she sat up, wiping her blurry and sleepy eyes with the back of her palms. Her eyes fell outside the window, at the bright, shiny sun that lit up the world. “It's such a beautiful day today.” She gasped softly. Before she could think of anything else, the door crept opened and the woman who had taken her in walked in. She goes by the name Sophie. She sat beside her on the bed, one of her hand on her knees, caressing it softly.“Good morning, Sophie.” Sarah said with a lit smile that played on her lips.“I hope you slept well?”“Sure, and you?”“I haven't felt this great in a long time. It's such a relief that you decided to join us.” Sophie smiled, which Sarah also returned. “I'll go make your breakfast. You should be down in ten minutes.” Sophie said on her way out of the room. “Okay, I'll be out soon.” Sarah called out.A smile played on Sarah's lips as she watched Sophie retreat fr
Alex's POV.I anxiously approached Sarah's house, clutching a map in my hand; encouraged by Sarah's threat yesterday, I made some research overnight. The sun was setting, casting an amber glow over the surrounding woods. I rang the doorbell, and Sarah opened the door with a warm smile, which surprised me as I was expecting to see the opposite. “Hey, Alex! I've been waiting for you,” Sarah greeted, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “Ready for our adventure?” A grin played on her lips. I nodded, my heart pounding with anticipation. “Absolutely. I've marked the areas on the map where other werewolf sightings have been reported. We need to find out if there are other packs like us out there.” I tried to keep my voice firm. Sarah, still at the door, took the map from me. She studied the map intently, tracing her finger along the highlighted regions. “This is fascinating. It's like we're on a mission to uncover our own kind.” She said with a lively voice that didn't last the next sec
Sarah's POV.Alex squeezed out the juice from the wolfsbane and forces the man to take it.“You're going to regret this.” He shouted at Alex for making him take the portion.“I would be more than happy to get that.” Alex grinned. He stapled the werewolf on his back and we headed home. After some minutes of walking, we were in the middle of the pack and at Sophie's house. Alex dropped the man on the ground as he grunted and cracked his limbs from the man's heavy weight. Before I could say anything, the man interrupted me. “Antidote! The antidote.” He winced. “I'll only give you the antidote when you tell me what I need to know.” I snapped and walked into the house, followed by Alex. We met Mrs. Sophie taking a nap on the couch, I leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on her cheek and she opened her eyes. “You're back?” She grunted as she sat up. “Yeah, and we got a member of another pack, he seems to be working with Marcus.” I said, and her face got lit with excitement. “Where is
Sarah's POV.He passed out before he could complete his sentence.“What's wrong with him? He's not dead, is he?” I asked as I walked away from him and hid the gun.Mrs. Sophie rushed to him, shake him so hard but he stood still, and she glared at me. “Happy now?”“Is he really dead?” Alex asked with his voice clouded with curiosity. “I don't think so.” I responded and walked to him. Punched him hard across the face, and he jolted back to life, “See?” I smiled. “We should treat him now, or he's really going to die.” Mrs. Sophia suggested, and I had no choice at this point but to accept it. “Fine! Go ahead.” I raised my hands in surrender and moved away from the man. Mrs. Sophie grabbed a lighter, lit it and put it on his wound. The man growled aloud, shaking the pillars of the basement. “Does she necessarily have to do that?” I whispered to Alex, but she heard me. “You have any other way to cure this?” She tilted her head. Soon, she was done, and the man was already looking be
Marcus's POV.Soon, it was evening and the clock struck 7pm. I walked out of my room and walked down to the office, which also served as our conference room. When I got there, I was almost surprised to see everyone present already, but this is Sandro we are talking about. Nobody would want a hurt to come close to him.He had sworn his allegiance to the Pack and had been faithful all this while.I sat in the armchair and my eyes darted frantically from one person to the other before I decided to break the silence after some seconds.“I believe we've all heard about the news; that Sandro is missing.....” A member butted in.“Is this Alex's doing? Why would he have Sandro kidnapped?”“I know, but can you please let me talk? Please?”“Sorry.” She mumbled under her nose.I rolled my eyes briefly and continued 2hat I was saying, “We have to save Sandro before they do something bad to him.” I added and took a break.“They? Who are they? I thought Alex was our only enemy?”“Well, another enem
Alex's POV.It was late at night, I had been trying to sleep, but it wasn't coming forth. I crawled out of the bedsheets, wore my slip on, and dragged my heavy feet to the table by the window.Sitting on the chair and looking out the window, I recalled how this place used to be a secret place for Beth and I to meet. We had the best of memories in here, which is a more reason why I had decided not to leave this house.Suddenly, my mind went to Sarah.“I hope she's doing fine. She's really a tough one and won't even admit it when she's weak.” I mumbled under my breath.“I wished I had killed Marcus when I had the chance to, I shouldn't have banished him from the Pack; I should have robbed him the right to live.” I cussed in my thoughts as my hand clenched in a fist.“If I had killed him, none of this would be happening. He won't have killed Beth or tried to take over the Pack like he's trying to do now.”Memories of when he kidnapped Beth flooded my head. It was on a sunny day, the day
Alex's POV.I turned back immediately but the figure was no longer there, I popped my head out of the window, but there was nobody there anymore.I decided to go to the kitchen to get a bottle of chill water, and as I walked down the stairs, plenty of thoughts ran through my mind. “Was I hallucinating?”“But she stood there for a while, staring at me. I possibly can't have hallucinated that. It was real.”“Is Beth alive? Of course not, why am I even thinking about such? It's been four years now since she died.”“I think it's time to return to Wendy, I'll go see her first thing tomorrow morning.”I grabbed a bottle of water, chugged the content and went back to my room. The thought of Beth had cost me my sleep, there was no longer an iota of sleep in my eyes. I laid on the bed with part of my brain blank and a part of it thinking about all the beautiful memories I had with Beth. I stretched my hand and grabbed my phone to check the time. It was 5:30am, there was no point of sleeping b
Lilian’s POVThe Palace looked almost magical in the soft morning light. Every corner shimmered, as though someone had scrubbed away the horrors of last night. But no amount of sunlight could erase the memories that lingered in my mind.I stood in the back, blending in with the crowd of Pack members. They cheered and clapped for Sarah, who stood in front of us with Alex by her side. Their smiles were genuine, their faces bright with hope, but I couldn’t join them.Beth’s face haunted me. Her last moments played over and over in my head, the way her body had gone still under the stars, the way her lips had whispered words I couldn’t quite hear. I swallowed hard, trying to push the images away, but they clung to me like shadows.Sarah raised her hands, and the room quieted. Her voice rang out, clear and strong. “Today, we celebrate the dawn of a new chapter for our Pack. We’ve endured pain, loss, and betrayal, but the Moon Goddess has guided us to this moment. Together, we’ll rebuild, s
Alpha Sarah's POVPower surged through my veins like nothing I had ever felt before. It was raw, wild, and untamed. Every fiber of my being burned with an intensity that demanded release. As Wendy lunged at me, her face twisted with hatred, I didn’t flinch. My roar erupted from deep within, shaking the very walls of the cave. The force of it sent Wendy hurtling backward, slamming against the jagged stone with a sickening crunch. She crumpled to the ground, her body limp. I should’ve felt relief, maybe even triumph. But all I felt was rage.“You brought this on yourself,” I growled, stepping closer. My claws ached to finish what she had started, to ensure she could never hurt anyone else again.Wendy groaned, her head tilting up just enough to glare at me. “You think this ends with me?” she spat, blood dripping from her mouth. “You’re just a pawn in something much bigger.”Before I could respond, movement in the corner of my eye drew my attention.Juan's POVThis wasn’t how it was supp
Alex’s POV“You think you can just walk away from this?”Juan’s voice tore through the silence like a whip, hitting me hard. I flinched, though I refused to show it. His sharp tone echoed off the stone walls. The air was already heavy with uneasiness, but his anger made it suffocating. His eyes burned with fury, his fists tight at his sides, ready to lash out.I stood still, staring at her. Around us, the remnants of the chaos—the broken furniture, shattered glass, and bloodstained floors—served as grim reminders of what had just happened. But Juan’s anger was a storm brewing on top of it all, and it was directed straight at me.“What do you want from me?” I finally snapped, my voice sharp as a blade. My chest heaved with frustration, the weight of her accusations pressing hard against me. “You think I planned this? That I wanted any of this to happen?”“You’re not innocent, Alex!” Juan roared, stepping closer. Her face twisted with rage. “You’re just like the rest of them! You carry
Alpha Sarah's POVThe air felt heavy, not just with the cool night but with the weight of everything that had just unfolded. Alex had broken down moments earlier, consumed by the ghost of his father’s voice. I had held him, trying to comfort the mate I still loved, even after everything. But there was no time for peace tonight.A sharp scream tore through the silence, wrenching us all back into reality.Beth's POVI knew I didn’t have much time. While the others were distracted, I moved toward Lilian, clutching the vial of antidote in my shaking hands. Lilian’s body was too still, her breathing too shallow. I knelt beside her, gently cradling her head as tears streamed down my face.“Just hold on,” I whispered, uncorking the vial. “You’re going to be okay.”But I didn’t see Wendy until it was too late.At first, I didn’t even realize I had been stabbed. There was only a strange pressure in my chest, like I had forgotten how to breathe. Then came the burning, fire spreading from the po
Alex's Point of ViewThe night pressed in around us, suffocating the air with an eerie silence that seemed to hold us all captive. My heart raced, my breath shallow as I stood beside Wendy. We were surrounded by a thick wall of shadows, the only light coming from the moon above, filtering through the trees. In the center of our circle, Lilian’s limp form lay motionless, her once strong presence reduced to a fragile shadow.Beth’s potion had worked too well. Too well, in fact. I could barely look at Lilian’s face, though her eyes, open and filled with an unspoken plea, forced me to meet them. Her lips trembled as if she wanted to speak, but no sound came out. The weight of her silent cry lodged in my chest like a stone. I had never intended for things to go this far, but here we were. And now, there was no turning back.I could hear Juan, Sandro, and Elena whispering to each other, their voices hushed but urgent, forming a protective barrier around us. Their eyes darted constantly from
Beth's POVThe stench of blood still clung to my hands as we left Mrs. Sophie’s garden, my heart hammering against my ribs. I couldn’t shake the image of her lifeless body from my mind. Killing her was necessary, I kept telling myself, but the weight of it sat heavy on my chest.I glanced at Isabella, her face pale and blank, her usually sharp eyes now distant. She hadn’t spoken a word since we left. Her silence was louder than any scream, and it unnerved me.The walk to the Palace felt endless. When we finally reached its towering doors, I noticed how the place seemed darker, colder, as if the walls themselves had absorbed the weight of our sins.Marcus stood at the top of the grand staircase, his gaze fixed on us. His face was unreadable, but I could see the pressure in his shoulders.Isabella froze the moment her eyes landed on him. Her silence broke with a venom-laced hiss."I'm saving Lilian without your help!" she snapped, her voice trembling with anger and grief. She turned on
Isabel's POVMy hands trembled as I stared at the person standing in Mrs. Sophie’s living room. Beth. The same Beth who had given Lilian away all in the name of whatever she was plotting with Juan. The same Beth the whole Pack thought was dead. The same Beth who the Pack thought betrayed them all. She might not have betrayed them but she betrayed me and Lillian, for that, I dint think I would ever be able to forgive her. Seeing her now felt like the ground beneath me had been ripped away, leaving me teetering on the edge of a dark abyss.I wanted to run, to escape the suffocating unease in the room, but Alpha Sarah’s firm grip on my arm kept me rooted in place. Her sharp nails dug into my skin, a reminder that I wasn’t going anywhere.“Please, Isabel,” Alpha Sarah said, her commanding voice softened to a rare whisper. “Just listen. We need both of you if we want any chance of saving Lilian.”The mention of Lilian’s name hit me like a punch to the gut. My sister was out there somewher
Wendy's Point Of view. The day was rather too slow than I expected it to be but I endured through the night. I tossed to the other side of the bed and when I groggily opened my eyes, it was met with the alarm clock. It was time to get out of bed. I threw the bedsheet over my body and got out of bed. Though it was still dark outside, this is the best time to start getting ready for the ritual."Such a good day to die, Alpha Sarah." A satisfied smile flashed on my lips.I made my way into the bathroom and took my time. After some minutes, I stepped out of the bathroom back into the room with a towel wrapped to my chest.I sat on the edge of the bed and applied lotion on my body while I hummed a slow romantic song. The sky was a bit clearer and it was time to step out if the house.I hurriedly got dressed and retreated from the house, I would have taken Alex's car but I would not want to disturb his sleep. So I walked out of the compound and trekked to the bus station where I boared a bu
Alpha Sarah's Point Of View.My face twitched with confusion as I couldn't place where I had seen the face, but I knew for certain that it was a familiar face.“Who are you? And what do you mean by you're the answer I seek? I seek nothing and I do not appreciate you calling me out like this in the middle of the night.” I warned fiercely and was about to leave when the lady stopped me.“Wait, Alpha Sarah, unless you have no interest in knowing what your mission is as the Alpha of this Pack. Seeing, you have until the end of tomorrow to remain Alpha.” She said, her voice was clouded with confidence and it clicked! This must be the bumper I saw earlier on my way home. I slowly turned to her with my brows twitched, my eyes scanning her from her head to toe.“Of course, I'm the bumper you met earlier, and I told you I would've back soon.” She uttered with a smile.“I never knew it would be this fast,” I crossed my arms against my chest with my head slightly tilted.“Well, there isn't much
