Blair’s POV

Sandra's words hit me like a ton of bricks. My heart pounded, and tears pricked my eyes. But I blinked them back hard. I wasn't about to lose in front of Sharon, not at that moment. Taking a deep breath, I forced myself to sound calm and asked Thomas, "So, how long have you and Sandra been together?" My voice might've been shaky, but I hoped it wouldn't show.

Sandra cut in before Thomas could answer, "A few months now."

Her smugness was unbearable. I snapped. "That's enough, Sandra!" I shouted, my voice tight with anger. "This isn't about you!"

But Sandra wasn't done. Her eyes narrowed. "Actually," she spat, "it kind of is. And for your information, if you must know, my mouth isn't stinking. Maybe you should check yours, considering all the nasty things spewing out of it."
