MICHELLE’s POV. With trembling hands, I collect the paper from the doctor and continue to stare back at it. I was not expecting what he said a few minutes ago. How can I be pregnant? Was this some kind of joke? He said I couldn’t get pregnant right? I have been trying for four years now and my efforts yielded superfluous dejections so this is why the result in my hand has me trembling. I gently open my eyes as the gloomy day dawns upon me. Last night was the most terrifying day of my life and I badly wanted to think it was a dream but here I am on the bed with Nicholas’s side cold and unlaid. Tears well up in my eyes but I try to push it to the back of my head, the divorce papers are lying on the table beside me while the pregnancy report is just by the side. One contained my happiness and the other contained my pain. My four years of marriage have come crashing to the ground with a loud bang, I feel like a weakling. I grab the divorce papers again and stare down at it, the words are dancing before my eyes. The fact that Nick’s signature is staring back at me makes everything so unbearable. Seeing it was one of Nicholas’s lawyers, I let out a heavy sigh before clicking on the receive button. “Hello” “Madam, sir Nicholas sent over the divorce papers via email. I think we should meet and discuss how to settle this. He want to add more alimony for you” “You can go ahead and process it. Mind you, I am not in need of the alimony, he can keep his money for all I care” “Why don’t you tell me your location, I will come over” “You don’t have to meet me, Mr Smith” I tell him, “just do as Nicolas has told you, I am not in the mood to meet anyone from his side. MALACHI’s POV.“Oh my world!!” Odette screams as soon as I push open the door to the cottage. Imagine the look of surprise and awe on her face when the plane touched down Costa Rica. She has been beaming smiles since then. A few days ago when we had that subway experience, she made mention of the fact that she would like to live normally and I decided to make that happen.
