Hundred and one

Michael's POV:

As we walked with Alexander, I couldn't shake off the feeling that we were taking a risk. But Ruth seemed to sense something in him, something that made her trust him.

"What do you know about the city's current state?" Ruth asked Alexander.

"The balance of power is shifting," Alexander replied. "The old alliances are crumbling, and new forces are rising. There are those who seek to destroy the city, and those who seek to control it."

I frowned. "What kind of forces?"

Alexander's eyes locked onto mine. "Dark forces, Michael. Forces that will stop at nothing to achieve their goals."

Ruth's hand tightened around mine. "What can we do?"

Alexander smiled. "I can help you navigate the treacherous waters ahead. I have information, resources, and connections that can aid you in your quest to protect the city."

Sandra and Davidson exchanged skeptical glances, but Ruth seemed resolute.

"Okay, let's hear him out," she said.

Alexander nodded. "Excellent. Then let us begin."
