CHAPTER FOUR

MICHEAL’s POV

I stand on balcony of the of hall to take full view of the activities happening outside, I sighted Vincent walking out of his room, his room is adjacent the hall, I don’t why he looks so uncomfortable. I quickly walk in to hall to avoid unnecessary pleasantries, I never wanted coming for the ceremony, but as a Lycan I shouldn’t be found missing in such gathering, Shadow pack has maintained years of good relationship with their alliances. Yet, they are not the strongest or wealthiest pack but has create good records of relationship with their alliance who has helped them survive thus far. Though, Vincent parent, the Alpha and Luna of pack, are well behaved and loyal, and this has helped lead them pack with the best of their abilities.

I saw Vincent siting close to a pretty lady, she looks strange I haven’t encounter her before, since my coming to shadow pack. She must be his Luna. The ceremony has fully begun and everyone is well seated and organized. They announce they will pass down the Alpha title to their son, Vincent. He’s a strong wolf and might even be more capable of leading than his parents.

Vincent stood and walk on stage with the pretty lady who was sitting close to him earlier, she must be his Luna, she has a charming smile on her face. His father who is the outgoing Alpha briefly gives a speech, he acknowledged my presence, I quickly stood and wave, and the people applaud. Vincent was called upon the stage to say vow.

 He begin his speech, by clearing his throat and trying to be more compose and putting  on a smile “I, Vincent Storms, promise to lead this pack with all sincerity of heart and with my best abilities, I will try all my possible best to keep up with the good legacy of the outgoing Alpha and maintain good relationship with our alliance”.  We applaud him, and he left the stage with his Luna to have his seat, the crowd begin to cheer him up, everyone seems happy, they were clapping, dancing and celebrating.

When I thought I was the only one feeling reluctant about coming for the ceremony, my Beta Gabriel, who was sitting close to me begin to murmur, can we start going already. He said, he’s here all because me, He didn’t want to come in the first place.

“We aren’t going yet.” We’ll be leaving tomorrow. Just go and entertain yourself we’ll catch up later.”

I stood from my seat to get myself a glass of champagne from one of servers. Gabriel scowls like a child, but it immediately goes when he sees some beautiful ladies staring at us seductively. Gabriel grin and looks at me.

Gabriel is the best player when it comes to woman’s feeling, he’s twenty-two, and he’s not ready to search for his mate, he feels he has all the luxury of time to explore more women but as for me I click to two girlfriends, we are just friends with benefit, no feelings attach. I must say it been a hard situation for me finding my mate, I only want to be with my Luna and mate, the mother to my heirs, tired of sleeping around with some random ladies. I tapped Gabriel on the shoulder go be with those ladies, you can’t keep their desires waiting, he look at me with a bad boy smile.

I left Gabriel with the ladies and go to greet the alphas present at the at ceremony, they were asking a lot of questions, “how is Lycan pack, have you find a mate, what your goals” I’m beginning to get irritated. Suddenly I begin to get on four paws, my wolf Orion was groaning within, “our mate is within”.

I asked, Orion where could she be?  I would have sense her the minute I walked into the party, I left the party in search for her, I went to meet all the Alphas of shadow pack to confirm if every member of the pack where present, I enter their various offices, and rooms.

I knocked at the first door, I hear them quarrelling, I quickly pass by. Getting to the outgoing Alpha chamber I saw many other Alpha gather, they were laughing and celebrating, at the moment I was getting more tense I growled at them, they were taken aback, I asked, “is all the members present at the party?” I can’t find my mate, they look surprise. One of the nodded yes in affirmation, I don’t believe you, I can sense her around.

Luna was terrified, she buried her face in her Alphas chest, she said, in a shaking voice, “our king, all the mated and the unmated she wolf are present in the party”. At this point my wolf can’t take it anymore, I felt someone is trying to sleep with my mate, I could feel her pain, my tone become more terrified, “I will kill you all if you can’t bring my Luna to me, I’m giving ten minutes to search the whole pack”. They all bow at the tone of my voice, one woman from behind speak, “my king they are some unmated girls in the dungeon.

I could feel her intoxicating scent getting stronger and undeniable as I rush down to the dungeon growling, the guards there, were making way for me, bowing before my face in fear. I followed the scent of her, I could hear her scream of panic getting stronger. My blood is rising. Immediately I approach her cell where she is, I pull off the door with my bare hands, all the guards watch my strength in amazement. My eyes go to the floor where a frail girl is lying. Tears streaming down her innocent face, and her claws were out, and there is blood all over the floor where she lies.  A man is on top of her without shirt, struggling to pull out his trouser. my wolf was eager to tear him apart, the man clearly about to rape my mate.

“Mate” as those words leave my mouth, the guards were terrified, they recognise who I am and they were gaping and looking at us, my wolf Orion waste no time attacking them, just in few minutes they were all dead.

I go close to her, on my knees, helped moved her hair from her face to the back, she looks exhausted. She was looking lifeless, pale, and she is underweighting by the time I carry her.

Why do they do this to you? you don’t deserve all this pain. She could barely say a word, she managed to touch my chin, they must pay for this. She passed out on my hands. I let out scream.

“No wake up!”
