Violet POV

Emily had never been this close to me, but I always knew that she was monitoring me. Her presence in Martha’s office made my stomach queasy. No. That was an understatement. It was worse. Anger and discomfort warred inside me.

Crossing my arms across my chest, I asked, “May I help you?” I tried to keep a nonchalant tone, but only I knew what I was feeling. My mood had been jittery since morning because of so many things, but Emily’s presence ruined it further.

Emily cocked her head and looked at Martha. “Can you leave us for a moment? I have to talk to her in private.” She asked her in a dismissive tone.

“Why will she leave?” I told her. “You can talk in front of her. Martha shares all the office secrets with me.”

“It’s okay… I’ll be around,” Martha said, feeling awkward. She collected her phone and hurried out of the office, leaving me alone with the only she-wolf I wanted to stay far away from. She and Ilene were the primary causes of my misery. I prayed to the Moon Godd
