Willow Baker POV
A Few Days Later
I could feel Maverick's eyes on me. It had taken me some time to think over what the Grand Duke had told me and to decide whether or not I was going to go through with it, not that I had much of a choice.
Honestly, it wasn't a bad idea. It was a win-win situation for everyone involved. Of course, it would lead to a bunch of awkward questions if anyone saw that my neck was devoid of any marks, but that was only if I showed off my neck.
No one was going to take my clothes off to check to see if the bite mark was on my neck. Changing my wardrobe was a small price to pay to ensure that no one noticed anything strange about us.
"Are you sure you want to do this? You don't have to force yourself to do this," he said.
Again, he was trying to dissuade me, but I had already made up my mind. "I'm sure." I raised my arm up to him and sai
Maverick Peterson POVWillow was really not backing down, despite my encouragement for her to bite my neck. I didn't see what the problem was with her biting my neck, but apparently she did.'She probably feels that the relationship will be unbalanced. You will be permanently bound to her, whereas her bond with you will be temporary.'I don't mind. It's not as if I intend to take on another wife. Asa is enough.''Well, not for her.'I had to admit that my father's idea was ingenious, as I had never thought it was a possibility. Of course, most people wouldn't even consider the idea, as it was pointless in most cases, but in our case, it was perfect for Willow's uncertainty.Seeing that she wasn't going to budge on the matter, I relented. "Fine."Removing my top, I folded my clothes and set it aside. That was when I noticed how Willow was looking away
Willow Baker POV'Ugh. What happened? It feels like I've been mauled by a pack of werewolves.''Looks like you're back with us.'Hearing Winter's voice, I frowned as I tried to focus on my surroundings and remember what I had been doing before I got my killer headache. The last thing I remember was going to meet Maverick regarding the bond.Vague memories of what happened came to my mind, and I groaned as my head fell back onto the couch I was on. If this was what bonding felt like, I would have rather not bonded in the first place.'If this is how packs bond, I'm afraid to know what it feels like for couples to bond. I think I'll die from the bond.''You're exaggerating. It's not that bad.''You're not the one who feels like throwing up and wishes to stay unconscious.'It would have been great if I could have slept away
Willow Baker POV'What the hell is he talking about, and what does he think he's doing?''Shouldn't this be the moment where you swoon at the sight of a handsome man princess carrying you?''I just want to sleep. Besides, what's there to swoon? I can see him all the time. There's nothing exciting about what he's doing.'Not in the mood to do anything about it while in pain, I let myself go limp in his arms and closed my eyes again. With my eyes closed, I couldn't see anyone's expressions, but I could feel Maverick's arms tense beneath me."You better take good care of her," said Sheila."I promise," said Maverick."You better," Sheila muttered."Once you drop Willow back to her room, I expect to see you right away," said the Grand Duchess."I understand, mother," Maverick said. Then he started walking, presumably back
Willow Baker POVAfter experimenting a little with the bond, I was pretty sure I had a good idea of what I could do and what I shouldn't do. I hoped no one would be too upset with me for experimenting with the bond. Some of the things I had discovered were that each decoration represented one pack member, and touching one allowed me to interact with them. Of course, I didn't do much other than see what they saw before cutting the connection after the first couple of missteps.Remembering how some of the people had freaked out when they had heard me made me wince. Those moments could have gone a lot better. I didn't mean for people to trip over their feet or cause any accidents.Fortunately, from what I saw, no one had been seriously hurt, but many would certainly be nursing some wounds to their pride. If I had somehow gotten someone so badly hurt that they needed emergency aid, I wouldn't forgive myself.
Willow Baker POVOne Month LaterI groaned as I finished writing another apology letter and set the pen down to massage my sore wrists. Apparently, I hadn't been the only one to play around with the bond, and no one had been happy to have a hyperactive wolf running around messing with everyone through the bond.It would have been nice to know beforehand. I hadn't expected to wake up and find out from the Grand Duchess that several citizens had filed complaints before I had even been announced as Maverick's wife.Technically, everyone knew about me after the official statement regarding the issue with Prerana and when the bond formed, but it wasn't official yet until the Peterson family said something. Now I was writing letters to the citizens affected by me and Winter before I officially became the Grand Duchess.'You certainly made a great impression on the people.'
Willow Baker POVOne Week LaterUnfortunately, the letters did end up taking another week to finish despite my best efforts. I had thought my soul would leave my body, but somehow I managed to make it to the end.At least it wasn't all bad. Winter didn't get away unscathed. Despite knowing that inner wolves could interact with one another, she somehow didn't expect them to harass her into apologizing. The throbbing headache I got was worth it to see her suffer for her actions.'Hey! Shouldn't you be on my side?''Well, it's not my problem.'I could feel her fume at my answer. Honestly, I wasn't sure what she had been expecting. She should have seen this coming after the attitude she'd shown me while I suffered writing the letters. However, finishing the letters meant the writing classes would resume. The thought of continuing the c
Willow Baker POV'You jinxed yourself.'"Can you repeat that again?" I asked as my voice trembled.Seemingly unaware of my current mindset, the Grand Duchess cheerfully said, "We're going on vacation."When the Grand Duchess told me that my reading and writing classes would be indefinitely postponed, it had sounded like a dream come true. I didn't expect it to be because the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess wanted to go on a vacation for an indeterminate amount of time. This was a nightmare. That would mean Maverick and I would be in charge of running the grand duchy while they're gone. They hadn't even transferred the title to us yet.'Why was this happening? Is that why they weren't around last time?'It was hard to imagine they would be enjoying their vacation while their sons had a power struggle over the title. That seemed completely irresponsible of the
Willow Baker POVSeveral Days LaterIt felt strange knowing everyone was gone. Well, not everyone was gone, but the majority of the people I knew had left the castle, leaving the rest of us behind. I still wasn't sure what to feel after seeing them off.Without both couples around, I found myself with a lot of time by myself. Normally, Sheila and therefore Rickey would come to visit me to chat while I played with Asa. The Grand Duchess was the same, while the Grand Duke was mostly in the background because he was always busy with work. Now I spent large spans of time just sitting in my room wondering what I should do while Asa napped. Maverick and I usually didn't interact outside of the reading lessons, caring for Asa, and meal times. As for Jason and Diana, the former rarely spent long periods of time in my personal space. Most of the time, he stuck around Diana and st
Hello everyone. I just want to thank all my readers, especially those who have been following until the end. It's been a long journey. In fact, I believe this book, from start to finish, took almost 7 months, which is a long time. Again, I'm grateful to have all of you. Now, onto what I intend to do next. I have several ideas, but currently I hope to start on Asa Peterson's story. It's going to be about Willow and Maverick's daughter, but with a twist.Instead of being a direct sequel to Luna's Revenge: Willow Baker's Marriage Request, it follows the first life after Willow dies and basically runs almost parallel with it. As such, there might be some spoilers, but it's not required to read both books. They're both standalones.I really hope to get this story off the ground. However, I do have other stories so we'll see how everything works out.Anyway, thank you all again for reaching the end with me. I hope that you all continue following me and have a great day.
Willow Baker POV A Year Later "Willow, are you ready?" Sheila asked as she, Maverick's mother, and Diana stepped into the room. As I stared at the woman in the mirror, I immediately said, "No." My arms shook as I said, "I really can't do this." "What's wrong?" she asked as she immediately rushed over to me. "I don't think I'm ready to get married," I said as I whirled around in my wedding dress. "Willow," Maverick's mother said as she took my hand. "You've already been part of the family for more than three years. We're only making sure you get the wedding you deserve." 'I can't believe I agreed to go along with this crazy idea. Why do we need to have a wedding when we're already husband and wife?' 'I don't have a clue either. You're the one who agreed to it when Maverick asked to marry you, and he even gave you a chance to back out.' I still had mixed feelings when I recalled that incident. It still boggled my mind that he had asked to marry me when we were already married, a
Willow Baker POV"Yes?" I squeaked.I mean, we were married, so I wasn't sure what he was talking about. However, instead of explaining himself, he smiled brightly at me. His smile blinded me and left me in a daze as he slipped the ring onto my finger.Feeling the metal on my finger, I quickly said, "Wait. What's going on?"His smile dropped as he said, "I proposed. Did you not want to marry me?""That's not what I meant," I said as I held both my hands up. "I mean, aren't we already married?""We are, but I want us to be properly married," he said as he stood up. "All we did was sign some papers and file them to formalize our marriage. I want us to have a wedding. It doesn't have to be big. It can just be us and our families or j
Willow Baker POVA Year LaterStaring up at the night sky, I smiled as I held Maverick's hand. I had used to be embarrassed about holding his hand, but now I found myself reaching out to him whenever I can."It's nice out," I said as we continued to walk through the garden. The only sounds were the sounds of the wind and whatever animals were out and about. Basking in the peaceful atmosphere, I still found it hard to believe a year had passed in the blink of an eye."It is," Maverick said with a smile, and he squeezed my hand."So, what is it you wanted to talk about?" I asked."What makes you think I brought you out here to have a talk?" he asked. "I could just want to spend
Willow Baker POVReaching out to the door, I opened it and was greeted by the sight of a gaunt Lesli. The putrid smell and poor condition nearly made me vomit as I covered my nose and mouth."Ah, Willow, you finally came. I was wondering when you would come," he said as he smiled at me. His smile fell when his eyes spotted Maverick right behind me. "Oh, you're here. I didn't ask for you.""I asked him to be here," I said as I held up my arm before Maverick could raise his voice.Lesli tilted his head to one side as he asked, "Why? Did you think I would do something to you?" When I didn't bother to give him a response, he raised his bandaged and chained arms up for us to see. "I can't exactly do anything to you right now.""I'm sure you'll find a way, but that's not
Willow Baker POVUnfortunately, the beautiful moment was ruined as a servant approached us. We stepped away from each other as Maverick frowned. They knew to leave us alone unless it was a serious matter."My apologies, your graces," the man said as he bowed. "The prisoner is acting up and demanding Willow's presence."There was only one person he could be referring to, but before I could say anything, Maverick said, "Willow will not be seeing him. I should have you punished for your insolence."The man quivered beneath Maverick's bloodlust. Asa squirmed at the sensation, but she didn't become upset like the last time she had been exposed to it. I wasn't sure whether I should be glad or upset.Reaching out to touch his shoulder, I said, "Maverick."
Willow Baker POVSeveral Days LaterLeaning back in my chair, I watched with a smile as Maverick played with Asa, who giggled loudly. For once, we were together not because someone had done something to make it happen, and I was quite happy about it.Maverick finally caught Asa, who laughed even harder when he raised her up into the air. She clapped her hands as they returned back to the table where I was sitting. Asa immediately reached out to me.Standing up, I took her from him, and we both settled down to enjoy the tea and snacks that had been left out. Asa tried to reach for the cookie I had, but I kept it out of arm's reach. She was far too young to be eating them.As I nibbled on the cookie while ignoring Asa's attempts to grab it out of
Willow Baker POVSeveral Hours Later'As you were saying.''I still say it isn't bad.'Of course, she would say that. She wasn't the one who had to endure all the stares as I sat next to Maverick. It was like being surrounded by a pack of hungry wolves, ready to pounce at any moment.Maverick scanned the room before standing. "Now that everyone is here, I believe there is something we need to seriously discuss." His face hardened as he said, "You all need to stop harassing us, especially Willow." Immediately, several people looked offended by his words, but he continued on, "This has gone on long enough.""Maverick, I believe you need to watch yo
Willow Baker POVA Few Weeks LaterAfter what had felt like centuries, I had finally kicked everyone out without being rude. I had thought that would be the end of it. Unfortunately, I had been wrong. I had been so very wrong. It seemed like a fire had been lit, causing the family to work even harder to ensure we were a proper couple. Well, at least the women were. The men had kept out of the whole exchange, and I wasn't sure how to feel about that.On one hand, it was better than having all of them gang up on me and Maverick. On the other hand, they weren't helping us and were choosing to stay on the sidelines. Rickey seemed to take particular glee at my suffering.'At least someone is enjoying themselves.'
