Willow Baker POV
As we got closer to my room, there was a commotion, and we all stopped to watch several servants running about in a panic. Confused and worried, I held Asa closer to me and glanced at Sir Kerry, who noticed my look.
He nodded his head towards me before rushing towards one of the panicking servants. My personal servants made a circle around me as if to protect me from any possible harm.
With our keen hearing, we could hear Sir Kerry ask the servant, "What's happening?"
"Lady Diana has gone into labor," the servant said.
What?
Truthfully, I shouldn't be surprised. Everyone had known it was going to happen soon. It was the reason why she had been kept in her room and why I had tried to study books about pregnancy to
Willow Baker POVI opened my mouth to protest when I heard someone say, "Report."We all turned to see Maverick making his way towards us. The others immediately bowed their heads as he stopped in front of us. His eyes were focused solely on the head butler."Lady Diana has just gone into labor. We are currently attending to her until the midwife and Jason arrive," the man said as he kept his head bowed.Maverick nodded as he turned his attention to me. "Willow, what are you doing here?"Words failed me as the memory of what happened earlier between us invaded my mind. Blood rushed back to my face, and I had to look away before I could even think about speaking."We heard a commotion and learned that Diana is in labor. We came to see how she was doing," I said.Suddenly, one of my personal servants pointed at the head butler and said, "He's refusing to let her grace in."This surprised me, as I hadn't intended to mention what happened. I didn't want to cause trouble for anyone when th
Willow Baker POVSeveral Hours LaterDiana was still in labor, which I couldn't tell was a good or bad thing. I guess it was good since there didn't seem to be any complications, and it gave Jason and the midwife time to show up and see how she was doing. The servants were able to find out that Jason had gone to Diana's hometown to grab some fruit for her. Since it was so far away, Maverick had to go and retrieve him, or else Jason would have been gone for who knew how long. One of the servants had rushed into the city to grab the midwife and bring her there before Jason returned. A doctor was also brought in to support her, so I wasn't sure if it was necessary.I rested my head on the back of my chair before I turned my gaze to my personal serv
Willow Baker POVAs we approached the door to Diana's room, several servants froze at the sight of us. I could tell what they were thinking right now. They were probably worried I would react badly to Diana's baby. However, since I already experienced this life before, I wouldn't be caught off guard by what I saw. In fact, it was comforting to know that some good things didn't change."Move aside," said Sir Kerry when he saw the servants standing in our way.Startled, the servants scampered away without a second thought and gave us access to the door. I stepped forward and placed a hand on the door. Taking a deep breath, I opened the door.Everyone inside glanced in our direction, and Diana said, "Willow, you're here."I smiled as
Maverick Peterson POVThe sight of my wife and sister-in-law smiling at each other left me uneasy. There was nothing sweet or innocent about their smiles. They must be planning something, but I couldn't be sure what it was.'Hopefully, they don't do anything too crazy.''I don't believe Willow would do anything to draw attention, but I can't say the same about Diana.''It's likely that Diana would drag Willow into whatever she had in mind.''I might have to have the servants make sure they don't get into trouble. Hopefully, Diana's birth will keep her from acting on whatever impulse she has for several days.'"I believe Lady Diana needs time to rest now. I would have to ask everyone to leave," the midwife said.Willow's face fell, and I asked, "Can't we stay for a few more minutes?"The midwife shook her head. "Lady Diana should rest as much as possible. Giving birth is not a light matter." After a moment, she added, "Lord Jason may stay a little longer as her husband, but it's best i
Willow Baker POVA Week Later"Willow," said Diana as she reached out to me with one hand while her other was holding her baby."Diana," I said as I also reached out to her with one hand while I was holding Asa."I missed you so," said Diana. I could see she was on the verge of tears. "I can't believe I had to wait another week in bed before I could see you.""It couldn't be helped," I said. "It's important for the two of you to be healthy."Diana huffed, but she didn't argue against my words. Honestly, I didn't know there was supposed to be a week of observation to make sure the baby and mother were healthy.Well, even if I had known before, I wouldn't have been able to stay in bed for a week. I didn't want to even think of what she would have done if I had done exactly that.Rose would definitely not let it slide if I was missing for a whole week. A day had already been too much for her in both lives. I might not have survived if I had done that.Asa and I really lucked out that the
Willow Baker POV"You," Diana growled as soon as she saw Mildred.I wasn't sure where he popped up from, and I couldn't decide how I should feel after seeing him after all this time. Every time he showed up, the whole castle ended up getting turned upside down. However, the only reason he had been absent was because of his work. The fact that he came back now to bother me meant whatever problems he had must have been resolved.'That's not necessarily true. It could be that something went wrong and he's looking for Maverick.'If that was the case, then Mildred shouldn't be dawdling here, and I said, "If you're looking for Maverick, he isn't here."Mildred shook his head and said, "I'm not here for Maverick. I'm here for you."In the background, I could hear Diana demanding that Mildred go away. Since she hadn't grabbed onto me or pulled me away, Jason must have intervened. She really needed to calm down, or else Nicholas would start crying."Me?" I asked. "What do you need me for?"His
Willow Baker POVMy mind went blank. I had to have misheard. For a second, I thought he said that our families were in Higsnesia. That was crazy. I mean, we had suspicions about the place, but that would mean their lives were in danger.'Willow, you need to calm down.''Calm down? You're telling me to calm down? We just became enemies with the country that is holding our families hostage. Who knows what would happen to them now?'"Willow," said Mildred, as he literally shook me out of my thoughts. "They should be fine.""What makes you so sure about that?" I demanded. How could he possibly think that?I didn't know why Higsnesia kidnapped our families, but they must have had a reason to do it. More importantly, they had been in their care for months. They could have been tortured while they were being held prisoners.'Would they really do that though?''Everyone knows that those with angel blood hate those with demon blood.''You forgot Rickey has angel blood. Surely they wouldn't hur
Willow Baker POVMildred was silent. It was as if he didn't want to tell me, but there was no way I would accept that. He had already come this far to go behind Maverick's back to tell me all this. I wasn't going to let this go."What did Maverick say?" I repeated as I stared hard into his eyes."Are you sure you want to know?" he asked."Just tell me," I said."Well, he immediately said he wouldn't allow it without hearing me out afterwards. He actually cut me off, and every time I tried to bring it up, he would block me out," Mildred said as he waved his arms about. It took me a moment to understand what he was trying to say. From what it sounded like, Mildred had been communicating with Maverick through the bond. Mildred must have decided to come in person after being ignored so many times. However, that brought up an important question. "Does Maverick know you're here?" I asked."Nope," Maverick said. "If he is going to ignore me, I figure I might as well ignore him too and talk t
Hello everyone. I just want to thank all my readers, especially those who have been following until the end. It's been a long journey. In fact, I believe this book, from start to finish, took almost 7 months, which is a long time. Again, I'm grateful to have all of you. Now, onto what I intend to do next. I have several ideas, but currently I hope to start on Asa Peterson's story. It's going to be about Willow and Maverick's daughter, but with a twist.Instead of being a direct sequel to Luna's Revenge: Willow Baker's Marriage Request, it follows the first life after Willow dies and basically runs almost parallel with it. As such, there might be some spoilers, but it's not required to read both books. They're both standalones.I really hope to get this story off the ground. However, I do have other stories so we'll see how everything works out.Anyway, thank you all again for reaching the end with me. I hope that you all continue following me and have a great day.
Willow Baker POV A Year Later "Willow, are you ready?" Sheila asked as she, Maverick's mother, and Diana stepped into the room. As I stared at the woman in the mirror, I immediately said, "No." My arms shook as I said, "I really can't do this." "What's wrong?" she asked as she immediately rushed over to me. "I don't think I'm ready to get married," I said as I whirled around in my wedding dress. "Willow," Maverick's mother said as she took my hand. "You've already been part of the family for more than three years. We're only making sure you get the wedding you deserve." 'I can't believe I agreed to go along with this crazy idea. Why do we need to have a wedding when we're already husband and wife?' 'I don't have a clue either. You're the one who agreed to it when Maverick asked to marry you, and he even gave you a chance to back out.' I still had mixed feelings when I recalled that incident. It still boggled my mind that he had asked to marry me when we were already married, a
Willow Baker POV"Yes?" I squeaked.I mean, we were married, so I wasn't sure what he was talking about. However, instead of explaining himself, he smiled brightly at me. His smile blinded me and left me in a daze as he slipped the ring onto my finger.Feeling the metal on my finger, I quickly said, "Wait. What's going on?"His smile dropped as he said, "I proposed. Did you not want to marry me?""That's not what I meant," I said as I held both my hands up. "I mean, aren't we already married?""We are, but I want us to be properly married," he said as he stood up. "All we did was sign some papers and file them to formalize our marriage. I want us to have a wedding. It doesn't have to be big. It can just be us and our families or j
Willow Baker POVA Year LaterStaring up at the night sky, I smiled as I held Maverick's hand. I had used to be embarrassed about holding his hand, but now I found myself reaching out to him whenever I can."It's nice out," I said as we continued to walk through the garden. The only sounds were the sounds of the wind and whatever animals were out and about. Basking in the peaceful atmosphere, I still found it hard to believe a year had passed in the blink of an eye."It is," Maverick said with a smile, and he squeezed my hand."So, what is it you wanted to talk about?" I asked."What makes you think I brought you out here to have a talk?" he asked. "I could just want to spend
Willow Baker POVReaching out to the door, I opened it and was greeted by the sight of a gaunt Lesli. The putrid smell and poor condition nearly made me vomit as I covered my nose and mouth."Ah, Willow, you finally came. I was wondering when you would come," he said as he smiled at me. His smile fell when his eyes spotted Maverick right behind me. "Oh, you're here. I didn't ask for you.""I asked him to be here," I said as I held up my arm before Maverick could raise his voice.Lesli tilted his head to one side as he asked, "Why? Did you think I would do something to you?" When I didn't bother to give him a response, he raised his bandaged and chained arms up for us to see. "I can't exactly do anything to you right now.""I'm sure you'll find a way, but that's not
Willow Baker POVUnfortunately, the beautiful moment was ruined as a servant approached us. We stepped away from each other as Maverick frowned. They knew to leave us alone unless it was a serious matter."My apologies, your graces," the man said as he bowed. "The prisoner is acting up and demanding Willow's presence."There was only one person he could be referring to, but before I could say anything, Maverick said, "Willow will not be seeing him. I should have you punished for your insolence."The man quivered beneath Maverick's bloodlust. Asa squirmed at the sensation, but she didn't become upset like the last time she had been exposed to it. I wasn't sure whether I should be glad or upset.Reaching out to touch his shoulder, I said, "Maverick."
Willow Baker POVSeveral Days LaterLeaning back in my chair, I watched with a smile as Maverick played with Asa, who giggled loudly. For once, we were together not because someone had done something to make it happen, and I was quite happy about it.Maverick finally caught Asa, who laughed even harder when he raised her up into the air. She clapped her hands as they returned back to the table where I was sitting. Asa immediately reached out to me.Standing up, I took her from him, and we both settled down to enjoy the tea and snacks that had been left out. Asa tried to reach for the cookie I had, but I kept it out of arm's reach. She was far too young to be eating them.As I nibbled on the cookie while ignoring Asa's attempts to grab it out of
Willow Baker POVSeveral Hours Later'As you were saying.''I still say it isn't bad.'Of course, she would say that. She wasn't the one who had to endure all the stares as I sat next to Maverick. It was like being surrounded by a pack of hungry wolves, ready to pounce at any moment.Maverick scanned the room before standing. "Now that everyone is here, I believe there is something we need to seriously discuss." His face hardened as he said, "You all need to stop harassing us, especially Willow." Immediately, several people looked offended by his words, but he continued on, "This has gone on long enough.""Maverick, I believe you need to watch yo
Willow Baker POVA Few Weeks LaterAfter what had felt like centuries, I had finally kicked everyone out without being rude. I had thought that would be the end of it. Unfortunately, I had been wrong. I had been so very wrong. It seemed like a fire had been lit, causing the family to work even harder to ensure we were a proper couple. Well, at least the women were. The men had kept out of the whole exchange, and I wasn't sure how to feel about that.On one hand, it was better than having all of them gang up on me and Maverick. On the other hand, they weren't helping us and were choosing to stay on the sidelines. Rickey seemed to take particular glee at my suffering.'At least someone is enjoying themselves.'
