Willow Baker POV
'One, he doesn't know you don't like women. Two, rather than not trusting you, he was probably distrustful of the servants after the mess with Mildred.'
When she put it like that, I had to concede her point. I could see how he would be wary of others attempting to seduce me, but I was still offended that he thought that I was easy.
Maverick had been the exception, and that was only because the situation had been highly unusual. It was simply not going to happen, no matter how some people thought otherwise.
My foul mood must have been obvious, as the one inspecting my hands stammered, "What about you, your grace? Are you thinking about having another child?"
If her intention was to distract me from my foul mood, she
Willow Baker POVHow could they possibly think I would ever cheat on Maverick, especially in broad daylight? How did they even come up with that idea?'Can you believe it? It's completely ridiculous.''...''Winter?''It's not completely ridiculous.''What are you talking about? Why are you siding with them?''They're not the only ones to come up with that idea.''Who?'When she refused to answer righ
An Hour Later"She's not at all what I expected," said Rebecca as the trio walked back to their rooms after being dismissed by Willow."I know right," Cora said as she waved her hands around. "There were all these bad rumors since she arrived in Datumia, so I thought she was some kind of monster that somehow blackmailed the Peterson family into accepting her.""It doesn't help that she almost never shows herself in public. All her dealings have only been with nobility when she hosted tea parties, and those were rare," Amelia said. The other two nodded their heads as all three recalled the reason why they were now working in the grand duchy. Each of them had been looking for work when the news came out.The Peterson family announced that they were looking to hire so
Willow Baker POVSeveral Days Later'Why are their names so hard to remember?''I told you it would be a problem.''Shut up.'It had been several days since I made those three my personal servants. In that time, I only managed to get one of their names correct, but I kept confusing who it was.I wanted to point out that it wasn't my fault that they all looked so similar. They all had black hair and black eyes, showing that their demon blood was quite strong in them. It made telling them apart difficult.
Willow Baker POVAs we made our way to Maverick's office, I found myself smiling over the scene that had played out just before. It was really a good decision to have my personal servants bring their children.Asa looked much happier. I should have done this much sooner. She must have been so lonely by herself with only her mother to play with her. I wanted to monopolize my time with her, but it wasn't right to deprive her of friends. She needed more people her age, not someone like me. Eventually, she would grow up to be a beautiful daughter who would be loved by all. I was certain of it, but that was far in the future. Right now she was a baby that was going to turn one soon.My smile dropped as we reached Maverick's office, and Sir Kerry knocked on the door. "Your grace, I have brought the Grand
Willow Baker POV"Your grace, what's wrong?" asked my personal servant.Realizing how bad it must have looked for me to come running out, I quickly said, "It's nothing." The look on my personal servant and Sir Kerry's faces told me that they didn't believe, so I was forced to add, "We were just talking about tomorrow.""Tomorrow? I don't believe there's any special event happening tomorrow," said Sir Kerry as he glanced at my personal servant, who shook her head.Seeing that they wouldn't leave me alone until I told them everything, I said, "Maverick's going to be spending time with me and Asa tomorrow."Sir Kerry's reaction was as I expected. His eyes widened as he smiled. The thought of both his masters getting along must have made him very happy. He had a good reason to be.Hopefully, Maverick would stop reacting poorly to Sir Kerry's presence after tomorrow, or at least tone it down.
Willow Baker POVThe Next Day"Are you sure none of you want to have a day off?" I asked to be sure once more as I stared at my personal servants.Asa stirred in my arms, probably curious about where we were headed. I had only told her that we were meeting with her father at his office but not where we would be going afterwards.Initially, I wasn't too sure myself. At the time, I hadn't thought about where we could go when I suggested to Maverick that we spend some quality time together. It was a spur of the moment decision. After I returned to my room, I found myself panicking when I realized what I had done. This was exactly like last time, which Maverick had seemed to have forgotten about. I couldn't blame him, as I had forgotten about it too
Maverick Peterson POVWhen Willow had asked if I was free today, I had been caught off guard. I hadn't even had a chance to properly force a response before she said she wanted to spend time together today.Despite having resolved the issues in the castle, we haven't had much time together, much to my annoyance. There was always work to be done, and she hadn't expressed any interest in spending time together.Of course, she hadn't specifically said she wanted to spend time together. She had asked if I was free to spend time with Asa. I would never reject a chance to spend time with my daughter. However, I would have to admit that was the sole reason why I purposely freed up my schedule for today. I had hoped to make this my chance to spend time with the both of them as a family.
Willow Baker POV'Stop racing heart. There's nothing to be nervous about. It's a simple picnic.''Are you sure about that?''You're not helping here.'It wasn't like I never sat next to Maverick before or that we never spent time with each other. They didn't happen often, but they did. However, it felt like my heart was pounding out of my chest.I was doing all I could to avoid staring at Mavericks to avoid looking like a creep because, when I looked at him, it felt like my face was going to burst into flames. This was so unlike me.Was I really that nervous about the picnic going well?At least I had the others to support me in case I did something embarrassing. On the other hand, they would see me do something embarrassing. Both thoughts kept me from properly enjoying the picnic.Asa laughed and clapped her hands as she ate the food Maverick was spooning her. It seemed like one of us was enjoying herself, and I smiled. She deserved the whole world.Looking back at my three personal
Hello everyone. I just want to thank all my readers, especially those who have been following until the end. It's been a long journey. In fact, I believe this book, from start to finish, took almost 7 months, which is a long time. Again, I'm grateful to have all of you. Now, onto what I intend to do next. I have several ideas, but currently I hope to start on Asa Peterson's story. It's going to be about Willow and Maverick's daughter, but with a twist.Instead of being a direct sequel to Luna's Revenge: Willow Baker's Marriage Request, it follows the first life after Willow dies and basically runs almost parallel with it. As such, there might be some spoilers, but it's not required to read both books. They're both standalones.I really hope to get this story off the ground. However, I do have other stories so we'll see how everything works out.Anyway, thank you all again for reaching the end with me. I hope that you all continue following me and have a great day.
Willow Baker POV A Year Later "Willow, are you ready?" Sheila asked as she, Maverick's mother, and Diana stepped into the room. As I stared at the woman in the mirror, I immediately said, "No." My arms shook as I said, "I really can't do this." "What's wrong?" she asked as she immediately rushed over to me. "I don't think I'm ready to get married," I said as I whirled around in my wedding dress. "Willow," Maverick's mother said as she took my hand. "You've already been part of the family for more than three years. We're only making sure you get the wedding you deserve." 'I can't believe I agreed to go along with this crazy idea. Why do we need to have a wedding when we're already husband and wife?' 'I don't have a clue either. You're the one who agreed to it when Maverick asked to marry you, and he even gave you a chance to back out.' I still had mixed feelings when I recalled that incident. It still boggled my mind that he had asked to marry me when we were already married, a
Willow Baker POV"Yes?" I squeaked.I mean, we were married, so I wasn't sure what he was talking about. However, instead of explaining himself, he smiled brightly at me. His smile blinded me and left me in a daze as he slipped the ring onto my finger.Feeling the metal on my finger, I quickly said, "Wait. What's going on?"His smile dropped as he said, "I proposed. Did you not want to marry me?""That's not what I meant," I said as I held both my hands up. "I mean, aren't we already married?""We are, but I want us to be properly married," he said as he stood up. "All we did was sign some papers and file them to formalize our marriage. I want us to have a wedding. It doesn't have to be big. It can just be us and our families or j
Willow Baker POVA Year LaterStaring up at the night sky, I smiled as I held Maverick's hand. I had used to be embarrassed about holding his hand, but now I found myself reaching out to him whenever I can."It's nice out," I said as we continued to walk through the garden. The only sounds were the sounds of the wind and whatever animals were out and about. Basking in the peaceful atmosphere, I still found it hard to believe a year had passed in the blink of an eye."It is," Maverick said with a smile, and he squeezed my hand."So, what is it you wanted to talk about?" I asked."What makes you think I brought you out here to have a talk?" he asked. "I could just want to spend
Willow Baker POVReaching out to the door, I opened it and was greeted by the sight of a gaunt Lesli. The putrid smell and poor condition nearly made me vomit as I covered my nose and mouth."Ah, Willow, you finally came. I was wondering when you would come," he said as he smiled at me. His smile fell when his eyes spotted Maverick right behind me. "Oh, you're here. I didn't ask for you.""I asked him to be here," I said as I held up my arm before Maverick could raise his voice.Lesli tilted his head to one side as he asked, "Why? Did you think I would do something to you?" When I didn't bother to give him a response, he raised his bandaged and chained arms up for us to see. "I can't exactly do anything to you right now.""I'm sure you'll find a way, but that's not
Willow Baker POVUnfortunately, the beautiful moment was ruined as a servant approached us. We stepped away from each other as Maverick frowned. They knew to leave us alone unless it was a serious matter."My apologies, your graces," the man said as he bowed. "The prisoner is acting up and demanding Willow's presence."There was only one person he could be referring to, but before I could say anything, Maverick said, "Willow will not be seeing him. I should have you punished for your insolence."The man quivered beneath Maverick's bloodlust. Asa squirmed at the sensation, but she didn't become upset like the last time she had been exposed to it. I wasn't sure whether I should be glad or upset.Reaching out to touch his shoulder, I said, "Maverick."
Willow Baker POVSeveral Days LaterLeaning back in my chair, I watched with a smile as Maverick played with Asa, who giggled loudly. For once, we were together not because someone had done something to make it happen, and I was quite happy about it.Maverick finally caught Asa, who laughed even harder when he raised her up into the air. She clapped her hands as they returned back to the table where I was sitting. Asa immediately reached out to me.Standing up, I took her from him, and we both settled down to enjoy the tea and snacks that had been left out. Asa tried to reach for the cookie I had, but I kept it out of arm's reach. She was far too young to be eating them.As I nibbled on the cookie while ignoring Asa's attempts to grab it out of
Willow Baker POVSeveral Hours Later'As you were saying.''I still say it isn't bad.'Of course, she would say that. She wasn't the one who had to endure all the stares as I sat next to Maverick. It was like being surrounded by a pack of hungry wolves, ready to pounce at any moment.Maverick scanned the room before standing. "Now that everyone is here, I believe there is something we need to seriously discuss." His face hardened as he said, "You all need to stop harassing us, especially Willow." Immediately, several people looked offended by his words, but he continued on, "This has gone on long enough.""Maverick, I believe you need to watch yo
Willow Baker POVA Few Weeks LaterAfter what had felt like centuries, I had finally kicked everyone out without being rude. I had thought that would be the end of it. Unfortunately, I had been wrong. I had been so very wrong. It seemed like a fire had been lit, causing the family to work even harder to ensure we were a proper couple. Well, at least the women were. The men had kept out of the whole exchange, and I wasn't sure how to feel about that.On one hand, it was better than having all of them gang up on me and Maverick. On the other hand, they weren't helping us and were choosing to stay on the sidelines. Rickey seemed to take particular glee at my suffering.'At least someone is enjoying themselves.'
