I got to continue my story. I lay with Emiliano in his room the following day. It was weekend, so he didn’t go to work. We were both facing the ceiling. I wanted to continue my story. I had to, before the wedding.
***After the death of Luna, my life turned upside down, dark and cold. Luna was buried in a cemetery. I couldn’t go home. I stayed with my sister. How can I leave her all alone in the cold? She was my everything. I can’t ever leave without her. I sat close to her grave. No more tears in my eyes. My eyeballs were red hot. I couldn’t open my eyes completely because of the sunrise. The sun shone softly on Luna’s grave. I still couldn’t believe Luna was under the earth. All the memories from my birthday were stuck in my head. Why didn’t I stop her? I should have forced her to stay with me.“Luna?” I called out, running into the woods. Where did Luna go? She was just here. “Luna?” I continued calling. I heard no response, just the symphony of the tree branches. The face came out clear. My eyes bulged out. Tommaso? Tommaso was Luna’s college mate. He somehow saw me and Luna one day on the street. Luna warned me against him. He was part of a notorious gangster. She knew him so well in college. Jailed severally for vandalism, bailed, and continued. When I had gone to buy something from the next street, he approached me. He claimed to love him since the first day he saw me with Luna. I knew better than to accept him. I don’t think twice before replying to such an approach. I rejected him, politely as I could remember. Ever since then, he started stalking me. He follows me everywhere I go. On a faithful day, Luna had gone to the birthday party of one of her clients. She couldn’t pick me up from school that day. We had a long day practical that made me close late from college. As I trekked from where the bus stopped, Tommaso came along, dragging me to a corner. He stole a kiss from me. I struggled with him. He wanted to continue. He dragged me a
“Wake up, time to work!” I was pulled out of bed by two guys.“Ow!” I winced at the pain between my thighs. One of the men was the one that brought that painful injection. The other was a new face. I was at my weakest point. What work can I possibly do? I was dragged along to a stable with two horses. They pushed me inside. I fell on my knees with my palms landing on the hay floor. I looked back at the wicked men.“Feed them and clean this place up,” the evil injection man ordered. He went away, leaving me with a new face.“Work,” the new face commanded. He tugged at a whip that was kept on some pile of straws.Where do I begin? I don’t know about horses. What is all this? I gathered my pieces together and staggered up. I felt a shooting pain around my stomach. I was hungry. I have tasted nothing, like forever. I couldn’t walk like a normal person. My legs were a few distances apart. The distance is beyond normal. The pain between my thighs was just there, i
***I sighed as s I looked at Emiliano. He was moody. I had wanted to cry along the way while telling my story, but he consoled me by holding me close. “You have passed through a lot, sweetheart,” he said to me, snuggling me closer to himself. “I won’t let anyone hurt you ever again. I will protect you. I won’t leave you,” he assured. I smiled. He kissed my hair. I slid my arm across his chest. He hugged me while we were still lying. He cuddled me like I was cold and needed warm clothing. “Let it all go, okay?” he said to me. I nodded against his chest. I closed my eyes, allowing myself to be swept off by his sweet scent. A day on. I couldn’t believe Emiliano was fixing our wedding date to just a week. He already spoke with the priest. He took me to a bridal shop to buy a wedding dress. I selected a simple wedding gown, just like a normal white gown. It was a snuggly fitted gown, revealing my figure. It was flared at the la
I couldn’t say a word to Emiliano. I was confused. Emiliano was an angel to be a murderer. But why was Luna furious with him? Why did she want to kill him? What did Emiliano do? Oh, God. Let not my fears come to pass.“Come on, babe, the priest, and everyone are all waiting for us. You should get dressed,” he said. I nodded. I gathered myself out of bed and went to the bathroom to freshen up. I can’t back out from marrying Emiliano because of a dream. I did my makeup, got into my dress, wore my shoes, and forced a smile on my face. I will marry Emiliano. The wedding was a quick one. Before you could say, Jack Robinson, the wedding was conducted. Though I was scared Luna was going to return as she did in my dream. I was constantly looking at the entrance. Emiliano had noticed and asked what the problem was. I shook my head. When I was to answer the “I do” word, I was lost in thought. The church members wondered as they began murmuring. Emiliano made an obvious innuendo bef
“You?” I exclaimed in surprise. “You are the nurse who treated my sister, remember?” I asked. She smiled with a nod. “May I?” she said.“Yeah, sure,” I agreed happily and allowed her in. She walked into the living room, pulling her suitcase along, and staring across the room. She looks more different than I remembered. More beautiful. I followed her up. I was relieved to know her. She was one of the most caring people I ever knew. Treating Luna without wanting a dime in return is the best gift ever.“You are highly welcome to my home,” I said, moving close to her. She turned and looked at me. She held my cheek in her hand. Her eyes glowed to tear up as she stroked my cheek with her thumb. I wondered why. She looks sad. “You look more beautiful, dear,” she said.“Thank you,” I smiled. “Have a seat, let me get you something to drink,” I stated. For many reasons, I was happy to have her around. She was caring and simple. Even though we met once, I could still
“Sienna?” Emiliano called out, taking a step closer to her like he was scrutinizing her or not believing his eyes. I was still confused. Sienna? How possible was that? He said Sienna has gone missing for some months without being found. How can my new nanny be Sienna?“Sienna?” Emiliano called again. “What happened to you?” he asked, standing in front of her. My heart thumbs up to my throat. I know how much he loves her. What if he decides to get back with her? Anabel looked at me, still confused. “Talk to me!” Emiliano ordered, getting pissed. Anabel shuddered at his yell. She moved back from him.“What are you talking about, sir?” Anabel asked, still taking a step back.“What do you mean? Don’t you remember me? I’m Emiliano, your ex-boyfriend. Why did you disappear the way you did? Where have you been all these months?” he demanded, moving closer. I had a sudden pang in my heart. Was Emiliano still in love with Sienna? What will become of me?Anabel stopped moving. “I don’t know
We didn’t talk much while eating. I only asked Emiliano about the food and he said it was okay. We continued eating. Anabel only focused on her food, not uttering a word. Well, I understand her. Who would want to speak when Emiliano was saying otherwise of her? But what if Emiliano was right? If he wasn’t hallucinating, then I will find out if Anabel was Sienna. Emiliano has erased all memories of her as he told me. No pictures, just her amulet. Then I noticed something was going on with Anabel. She adjusted uncomfortably on the chair. She tried to keep a straight face, but I know she was queasy.“Achoo!” Anabel sneezed, covering her mouth. Emiliano looked at her. “Excuse me,” she said. She relaxed and tried to continue eating. “Achoo!” she sneezed again. “Are you okay?” I asked. Emiliano said nothing, he only glared at her.“Argh!” she exclaimed, jerking up. She moved to a side. I stood up.“What happened?” I asked, taking a few steps toward her. Why was Emiliano saying nothing?
~Anabel~The following morning, I came downstairs to fix breakfast. I headed to the kitchen, then I saw that breakfast was already served. I opened the dish. The aroma that escaped from it filled my nose. Who could have fixed breakfast this early? Was it Ginevra? I bet not. Then I heard footsteps behind me. I swiveled my head and saw Emiliano. I faced him. “Good morning, sir,” I greeted, looking everywhere but his eyes.“I’m off to work. Take care of my wife,” he said huskily. He turned to leave then stopped and faced me again, lifting his finger with his car keys at me. “If I discover a scratch on her, I will kill you,” he groaned and left.“If I discover a scratch on her, I will kill you,” I mimicked in a baby’s tone. “I faced the dish, closing it back. I left my hand on the table and looked at the door that he just walked out of. “What if I discover a scratch on her and kill you?” I said to myself. “Nonsense,” I hissed and headed back upstairs.I opened the door to Ginevra’s room,
~Sienna~I woke up in the room, looking around like a lost child. Back to Emiliano’s place again. How long have I been gone? I stepped down from the bed and headed to the door. I opened the door and walked to the inner balcony. From there I saw Ginevra weeping with Emiliano comforting her. She must be missing Luna. I have never seen sisters so concerned about each other before. What is the essence of me coming back then? I got no home, no parents, no siblings, no lover, I have lost everything. It’s better to stay in the other world than living a lonely life. Luna has everyone, she has her sister who cares about her so much. I lost Emiliano already, it won’t be fair interfering in his relationship anymore. It’s my fate and I got to accept it. I sighed and returned to the room. I lay back on the bed, supplicated a few words, and went back into a deep sleep. I have learned a lot from my Master Lyon. Yeah, I met a master in my darkness, he taught me a lot about the other world. At least,
Just then, a knock came on the door. He stopped, his eyes turned to the door and the knock came up again. “Who is there?” he grunted. “Someone wants to see you, boss,” one of his men sounded from behind the door.“Who is it?” he queried.“He wouldn’t say his name, boss,” the man stated.“You stay here,” he groaned in my ear and went to the door. The moment he opened the door, he was pushed back, hitting his back against the wall and the knife fell from his hands. I turned my head to the door, Emiliano stood at the door, holding a handgun and aiming it at Mariano. The guard that was speaking fell dead. Maximo showed up. A smile flashed to my face, seeing my people come to defend me. I have never been defended before, this feels like a whole new beginning in my life.“Move it!” Emiliano ordered, aiming the gun straight at Mariano’s head. They indeed look super alike. I couldn’t find a distinction, except for the clothes they were putting on, or possibly the emotion in their eyes.
It has been a week since I started going out with Mariano. It’s becoming overwhelming, coupled with the fact that he desperately wishes to take me to bed. So frustrating. I can’t handle it anymore, it’s not okay mingling with my murderer. Time for the big show. I freshened up and dressed up in the most seductive dress I could lay my hands on. It was a sparkling deep blue short gown that seems to be hanging out my butt. I heated my hair to curl up and applied heavy makeup. I stepped into my high heels and stood up. I put a small knife into my purse.“Do or die again, Luna. This is your chance,” I reminded myself with a slight chuckle and headed out. I descended downstairs, taking each step with elegance like an awaiting queen. Emiliano’s eyes turned to me. He began staring at my transformation. Thank God Ginevra wasn’t there, I don’t wish to deal with jealousy before beginning my revenge today. I stepped down the last staircase and Emiliano swallowed hard. I raised one of my eyebrows.
I returned home, shuffling into the living room. Ginevra was pacing up and down, holding her phone. She stopped abruptly and hurried to me.“Are you fine?” she asked, holding me. I nodded and sighed. “Did you see him? Did you recognize him?” Ginevra queried.“No, we lost him,” I said and sighed, collapsing onto the couch. Ginevra sat with me.“How come?”Well, we waited patiently for him at the restaurant where he stopped. He didn’t come out till we fell asleep,” I explained.“Oh, that means you didn’t even get to talk to him at all, right?”“Exactly.”“Hey, you are back. How did it go?” Emiliano queried, handing a cup of tea to Ginevra.“We lost him,” I said simply and stood up. “We will try our luck next time. Getting to know his place is my priority right now,” I declared and started walking away. Emiliano held my wrist and I turned abruptly to face him.“I will help you…no matter what,” he assured. I nodded and headed upstairs. Ginevra stood up and moved close to Emiliano
Maximo accepted with a nod and carried Luna up. I followed him to Luna’s room and he laid her down.“What will happen now?” Maximo asked. “Huuuhhh!” I sighed heavily. “She will wake up. Please, stay with her,” I told him.“Uh, sure,” he accepted and sat down on the bed. I headed out. I opened the door and glanced back at them before going out. I went downstairs to meet Emiliano. He was seated on the couch in the living room, staring at the door. I sat beside him.“I’m sorry,” I said and he looked at me. “It’s…it’s just hard…I don’t know what to say, sweetheart, but I’m sorry. I believe you,” I apologized and he smiled.“You don’t have to apologize, sweetheart. I understand. Even though it hurts that you thought I was a murderer, it’s still fine,” he said and smiled. I snuggled closer to him, he held me and kissed my hair.“Do you think you…uh, you have a twin?” I asked, lifting my eyes to look at him. He paused, staring into space for a few seconds. I released myself from his h
“That’s it! It’s him, it’s Emiliano!” I groaned, turning away from the screen. “That scumbag!”“Emiliano?” Freda sounded and I looked at her. “But his name is Mariano,” Freda added and shrugged her shoulders at my confused stare.“His name is Mariano? “ I asked and she nodded.“At least that was what he told me,” Freda stated.I brought out my phone. I opened my camera to film the video. “Play it again,” I told Maximo. He replayed the video while I recorded it. “Thank you, Aldo,” I appreciated Aldo. He smiled. “Let’s go,” I told Freda and Maximo. We returned to the car.“What will happen now?” Maximo asked. “We will take her back home. Any silly move, I will get flowers for her funeral,” I told Maximo while intently intimidating Freda. Her heartbeat began heaving up and down again.“I will do anything you say,” she reassured.“Any smart move, don’t forget I’m still a reincarnated soul,” I added and she gasped. Maximo moved off.I placed a call to Ginevra, telling her I won’t
“Do you remember Luna?” I queried, interrogatingly staring deep into her eyes like the shaft of the sun over a deep blue ocean. She went as quiet as still water with only the sound of her heart banging her ribcage. She stared at me, confusion wearing off the weight of fear from her heart. “You remember her?” I asked again, relaxing against the chair, giving her room to rack her brain. She intently shook her head. “Well, let me tell you a story, maybe then you can remember,” I said and sat up. “About a year ago, you called Luna, a photographer, you wanted her to shoot at your fake wedding. She believed you and traveled down to Naples. On the night of her arrival, a villain, the man she feared most in her life stormed into her hotel room. Now guess who showed up when she tried to escape,” I narrated. Her chest began heaving up and down again. Beads of sweat formed on her forehead, clustered sweat rushing down her temple.“I…I…I…” she tried to speak, but no other words came out. I gave
~Ginevra~I sat with Emiliano in the living room. He was holding me close in comfort. Since the confrontation earlier, Luna hasn’t shown up. I wonder where she went. I clutched Emiliano’s shirt. I was shuddering from within. My breathing hitched. Luna wasn’t taking her calls. Did she leave like she wanted? I was scared to lose my sister again.“Calm down, sweetheart. You don’t have to worry, she must have gone out to clear her head,” Emiliano comforted.“But why isn’t she taking her calls?” I sobbed and sniffed.“She will be fine. If she doesn’t come back before 9 PM, I will go look for her, okay?” Emiliano soothed, patting my shoulder gently. I nodded against his chest. Then the door creaked open. Luna entered. I sprang up, flitting to the door. Emiliano stood up.“Where have you been?” I queried more like scolding, grabbing her hand. “I was worried, I thought you left,” I calmed my voice.“I’m sorry, I went to see a friend,” Luna said as we headed to Emiliano.“Who is that?” I asked
I couldn’t shoot him. I shot at the wall. I dropped to my knees in tears. Ginevra slowly removed her hands from her ears, carefully turning around to look at Emiliano. She looked back at me. She rushed down to me and wrapped her arms around my neck, crying.“Calm down, crescent moon, I understand how you feel,” Ginevra sobbed. I sniffed. I couldn’t shoot Emiliano because of Ginevra. I love her so much to do anything for her. How could I kill the father of her unborn baby? All the vengeance and pain accumulated in my heart and it hurts. It felt like a brick was thrown at my heart when I decided not to shoot him because of Ginevra. Emiliano shuffled to us. Ginevra held me up.“We can sort this out, Luna, I honestly didn’t kill you, believe me,” Emiliano soothed. I cast a glare at him. Ginevra held my hand tightly. “I have never killed anyone, Luna, never in my life,” Emiliano stated.“Believe him, Luna, he didn’t kill you, I can vow he didn’t,” Ginevra added. My chest heaved up and down
