Let go while you can.

Richard led me confidently through the bustling workspace, his hand gently resting on the small of my back, offering me support and reassurance. We approached a large meeting room where he signaled for everyone to gather.

Attention turned towards us as the employees gradually quieted down, their eyes fixed on Richard and me. With a confident smile, Richard began to introduce me to the company.

"Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention, please?" Richard's voice boomed through the room, commanding everyone's focus. "I would like to introduce you all to Melissa, who will be joining our team as my personal secretary."

A wave of surprised murmurs swept through the room as my presence was acknowledged. I stood by Richard's side, feeling a mix of nervousness and determination.

Richard continued, his voice filled with conviction. "Melissa is an incredibly talented individual who brings a fresh perspective and valuable skills to our company. She has already proven herself to be diligent, dedicated, and resourceful. I have complete confidence in her ability to excel in her role and contribute to the success of our team."

I could feel the gaze of the employees on me, some with curiosity and others with skepticism. However, Richard's words of praise and support gave me the strength to stand tall and face the challenges ahead.

"Melissa, please say a few words," Richard encouraged, turning towards me.

Taking a deep breath, I stepped forward, my voice steady but filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Richard, for this incredible opportunity and for believing in me. I am thrilled to be a part of this team, and I promise to give my best every day. Together, we will achieve great things."

Applause echoed through the room as the employees showed their support. It was a small victory, but it meant the world to me.

It felt like I was slowly falling in love with the human world rather than where I came from. Here they had no specific rules governing then, such a peaceful life they had here.

Richard soon showed me to my seat not too far from the office but also amidst the workers so I won’t get bored easily, one of the workers rushed up to me immediately Richard entered his office with a wide smile on her face.

“How did you do it?” She whispered to me, I stared at her in confusion as to what she meant.

“What do you mean?” I asked the lady as she laughed loudly tapping my shoulder as if we were buddies.

“I meant to say, Richard never one day thinks of employing a personal secretary and then out of the blue moon he employs you and puts in extra worlds for you.” the lady said, her wide smile suddenly changing to a frown.

“Let go of him while you can, or this company would be too tight for the both of us to fit into.” she warned making me scared at how quickly her manners changed.

“Wow! That was scary for a woman who looked at nice.” I murmured to myself while I watched her return to her desk, here I was thinking that I was just about to make my first friend.
