Chapter Four: The rebirth Five Years later
Soft, golden light filled the room when I woke up. I felt strangely whole, and the opulent bed underneath me felt wonderful. As I tried to take in my new surroundings, I blinked. It dawned on me then that I had changed. I stood up and found my legs were perfectly working, and my once-disfigured face was now faultless. Getting out of bed, I walked warily over to a full-length mirror. My dream Lyra, pure and lovely, was staring back at me. Feeling my silky skin and running my fingers over my silver-colored hair, I felt a mixture of confusion and bewilderment. With minor slight changes, She was still the same Lyra. "How did this happen?" Not believing even now, I asked. I stood there for a long time after speaking the word. "Did I just speak?" At last, I discovered my voice. "I recently completed it! I said something! I recently did. I leaped about the house and yelled with excitement. I hastened back to the mirror, where I gazed in awe at the miracle that had happened to me. "I should be able to talk, of course. I mean, I have working hands and eyes, and I can walk." While I was thinking about this amazing change, the room's door cracked open a little and a man entered. A man I was all too familiar with, Lucius Adrian, the alpha of the Ember Moon Pack, a guy who had been my sworn adversary in my previous life. My pulse raced, and for an instant, I wondered whether my torturers had pulled off some horrible prank on me. However, Lucius had a distinct expression in his eyes that mixed confusion and astonishment. He appeared to share my amazement. "Lyra?" he said, seeming a little bit puzzled I nodded slowly, not knowing how to express myself. I couldn't help but think back on our savage rivalry and how we had previously battled. Lucius drew closer, his eyes softening as he studied me with a mix of worry and fascination. "You're different," he said. Finally, I discovered my voice. "I can say the same for you. " I said, meeting his gaze. There was no longer the animosity that characterized our past interactions. Rather, we had an underlying agreement that we had both undergone transformation. He said, "Lyra, you're awake at last." It was as though he had been itching to say it. He'd finally had the chance to say it, but it kept slipping his lips every time he wanted to. "I can't believe you are finally awake, Lyra, after so long," he went on. Lucius approached me as I turned away from the mirror. He came to a stop just in front of me and gripped both of my arms, holding them just loosely enough to avoid hurting me, while maintaining eye contact. He looked into my eyes and called "Lyra," gently. "You, you..." He stopped and kept gazing into my eyes. I swallowed forcefully after blinking twice. Too embarrassed to look him in the eyes, I turned my attention to the ground. "How am I here?" I questioned him. I continued to stare at the floor while gently using my legs to draw invisible designs there. Lucius said, "I will tell you," and released his grip. He was no longer peering into my eyes with the same expression; instead, a neutral expression took its place. Lucius guided me to the bed while holding my hand. I took a seat next to him as he occupied the bed. I looked around the room where I had been put for a few seconds, and it was really lovely. I remembered my chamber in my pack, and my heart fell. Everything I had now been deprived of. "Okay, I heard rumors before then about the plans to dethrone you on that fateful day, he started. " I have eyes and ears everywhere, you know. But because your spouse loved you so much to do that, I didn't think it was real." The thought of my husband and love made me swallow hard. Even though I knew River could simply address him by name, he still went with calling him my husband. Though I wasn't sure why, I felt there had to be a purpose. He corrected himself, "Your ex-husband, I meant," and went on. "You know, I never imagined that you two would ever reach that point. That day, I was in the park trying to cool off. further, than letting myself cool off and leaving the area, I had no further intentions. Even though I was surprised to see your car pull in, I decided to go so that I wouldn't run into you." He took a moment to think. He appeared to be struggling to breathe. Then he went on. "When I moved to sit and take in the sights, I didn't feel comfortable. I couldn't stop my thoughts from straying, so I went to investigate. As soon as I turned around and got up, I saw him shove me into the pool. It was too late by the time I arrived, but I promised to see you alive once more." "So, what did you do to me?" I enquired. Not much, just get you out of the water and make sure you're taken care of by the greatest witch doctors. But even so, as I pulled you from the water, you were already dead." I exhaled. "And," I enquired. I still wanted to know how my rebirth made me whole again. Lucius told me how, years ago, he had found me on the verge of death and, feeling obligated to save me, had taken me back to his pack. His comments struck a chord with me, and I was overwhelmed with appreciation for his gift of a second shot at life. Before I took my last breath I could recall seeing him. I wanted to keep my questions to myself and concentrate on how I would exact vengeance on those who had killed me. I had a few questions, but I wanted to keep them to myself. I was determined not to overlook it. I was curious to know about my rebirth in every detail. but Lucius always appeared to be vacillating when I pressed him on the subject, so I opted to overlook it. Lucius was surprised when I went in, so it was either he was hiding something from me or he didn't know either. I shook my head and decided that I would have the vengeance come first. As we talked, I saw that I was gradually letting go of my past grievances. I saw that we may be comrades instead of foes in our new existence. "Lyra," Lucius shouted as he clasped my hands. "Yes?" I answered, meeting his gaze directly. "What would you want to do now?" He enquired. "I seek revenge!" I answered directly. "Trust me you surely get your Revenge, Lyra, but first... we have to get your life outside being Lyra who returned for revenge," he said to me. I didn't hesitate to raise the inquiry after wondering what he meant. "I don't understand, What do you mean?" I inquired. "You should no longer be Lyra. We need to give you a new name, background, and life, in addition to changing your name. Lyra, if you wish to surprise your enemies, you can't go around using your previous identity." I was starting to acknowledge the wisdom in Lucius's statements. I knew the weaknesses in both my ex-best friend and my ex-husband. In my new universe, I will surely use that against them. "So What new name and new life do you want to give me, Lucius?" I enquired. "I will go by whatever works for you." "Lyra," he called. Regain your self-assurance and make your own decisions in life. I'm prepared to provide you with the type of life you believe would be ideal for you." I should be the one to decide what I wanted, as Lucius correctly pointed out. I started to consider the best way I should be addressed. I wanted something that wouldn't raise suspicions and would also make getting my revenge easier for me without causing too much trouble, as I knew that anything I chose would have a significant impact on my vengeance. "Take your time, Lyra," Lucius whispered, his voice full of understanding. I gave a thoughtful nod while reflecting. Lucius waited anxiously for me to make up my mind so they could quickly give me a new life. I let out a long sigh. I was resolved to take advantage of my rebirth to exact revenge on those who had harmed me. And I was more sure than ever that justice would be done with Lucius's backing. I was aware that the only reason I was granted another opportunity was to exact revenge for the horrible deaths of both my parents and myself at the hands of the spiteful Vivian and her now-husband. I found the answer to Lucius's question as I considered my revenge. With a firm and strong voice, I eventually stated, "I want to be known as Allegra." "Allegra Callista." With a little smile spreading over his lips, Lucius nodded. "Allegra Callista it is, then." From that point on, I started to change. Together, Lucius and I meticulously built a new identity for myself, replete with falsified paperwork and an intriguing past. I was Allegra Callista, an enigmatic new arrival with a secretive history. I couldn't help but feel excited as I started my new life, but I also had a strong desire for vengeance. I was prepared for whatever obstacles were in my way because I had Lucius at my side and a renewed sense of purpose even though I knew the road ahead would be difficult. I was closing a chapter in my life as Lyra Avery and starting a new one as Allegra Callista.CHAPTER 5ALLEGRAIt dawned on me that Lucius was falling for me. I also decided to take advantage of his affection even if I didn't love him back. That morning, I gave Lucius a call to let him know I was interested in seeing him. As I lay in bed contemplating how I would exact my vengeance as quickly as possible, there was a quiet knock on the door. I quickly realized that it was Lucius. I was expecting no one except him. I got out of bed and moved in the direction of the door. After taking hold of the key, I inserted it into the hole and drew the handle back.Greeting me with a "Good morning, Lyra," "Allegra," I corrected him "Good morning, Allegra," he said, acknowledging that mistake. I threw open the door and let him in. he sat on the couch, I sat on the bed facing Lucius. Without exchanging a word, we uncomfortably looked at one another for a while. I started after clearing my throat.I began, "I could be your fake mate." "That is if you will agree to announce me as the L
CHAPTER 6ALLEGRA Lucius guided me around the pack elders' seats while holding my hand. I had to accept their blessings by bowing before them. We greeted the elders and then made our way over to the other pack authorities. The others, like gamma and beta. After we greeted each other, Lucius formally introduced them to me. Their eyes told me a lot was going on in their minds. They weren't convinced that I was their Luna. They also had questions I could see clearly in their eyes. Like, where did she come from? The news that their alpha had unexpectedly attracted a mate startled and unsettled them. I greeted everyone pleasantly and ignored them in all of these. I was unsure if Lucius saw it as well or if it was just me. I still chose to act composed. "She's... pretty," said one of them. "Like a ghost that she appears to be."I took a deep breath and carried on strolling. "Are you sure you know what a Luna is?" I was baited by another one. "This isn't a fashion parade model home. It'
CHAPTER SEVENALLEGRA The event had come to an end. Lucius and I strolled over to his room together. Everyone else in the hall had started to scatter as well. So, we weren't left. When we went to his room, he directed me to his couch, where I sat. "Allegra, he called. " I think I have to take my shower now." I've stressed myself a lot today." He said."I know, right?" I smiled artificially in response. moved in the direction of his closet. He stripped and did behind it. Before long, he was in front of me, his towel wrapped around his waist. I averted my gaze from him to avoid seeing his naked chest. "I assure you, it won't take too much time," he said. "Please, take care of yourself till I return. I was growing restless. I wanted to yell at him to just go ahead and take a bath. I just rolled my eyes and shook my head. His footsteps approached the restroom, and I didn't look up until I heard him closing the door. "Urgh!" I let out a sigh and got to my feet. I changed out of m
CHAPTER EIGHTALLEGRA That awful day came back. I was able to witness the day my ex-mate declared my ex-best friend to be his Luna. Their happy expressions and the pack members' delight. I experienced the painful moment once more. As I witnessed the event, I clenched my hand into a blow, and instead of feeling the depressing aftermath, I felt an intense sense of vengeance. In the lake, I sensed two hands grab and release me. I landed in the water right away. I woke up with a gasp. After all, it was all a nightmare. I was panting fiercely and soaked with sweat. My hands were gripping the blankets tightly, and I was still drenched in perspiration despite the room's AC being on. I heard someone shuffling close, so I looked up to find Lucius quickly putting on his clothing. To my amazement, my gaze went directly to the wall clock. It was just past one in the morning. I wondered where Lucius intended to go this time of the night. He was dressed up, but why? Well, asking him directly t
CHAPTER nineLUCIUSI made my way to the battleground. My guards were occupied fighting the invading rouges. I heard the clanging of swords. Blood spattered everywhere, and roars filled the battlefield. I sprouted my claws and plunged into the combat zone. I was ambushed simultaneously by two rogues, but I managed to put one of them to the ground with a fast kick to the foot. Grabbing the other's blade, I used it to draw him closer to me. As soon as he attempted to take the blade from my grasp, I spun him around by grabbing his neck. I met his gaze directly. He lay down on me and I put my claw around his throat. I wrapped my claw around his neck before he could react, leaving the floor stained with his blood. I overcame all of the rogues with my bare hands and feet, even though they were armed with swords. They weren't as powerful as you had anticipated. We were able to overcome them and seize the remainder of them with relative ease. I examined the helpless targets we had appre
CHAPTER TENLUCIUS Point of View At first, I kept silent. All I could do was stare at her, and she would not stop asking me the same question. I knew I had to respond to her. Anything at all to get her to quit bugging me, or at least keep the truth from her. I would not tell her, and I didn't want her to find out. She gazed up at me, curiosity shining in her eyes as I searched my mind. I could tell she was beginning to get wary already. "Look, Allegra..."I started to say something, but before I could get very far, there was a tap on the door. I felt like smiling as I turned to face the door, but I had to suppress my smile. "Pardon me," I muttered to Allegra, hoping she wouldn't bother me once again. All she did was nod. She was no longer bothering me, and for that I was thankful. I moved over to the door and let it open. I was happy the knock had come. I still hadn't decided which lies to tell Allegra. It was only a rescuer, and I was happy it arrived. One of my guards was w
CHAPTER 11ALEGGRA I smiled to myself, knowing that it was her. I circled the chair where she was sitting for a while before coming to a halt in front of her. "Why were you at the soldier's dedication?" I questioned her. She didn't say anything. Just like you had anticipated. I was aware that it would not be simple to extract the words from her. She would prefer not to reveal the words. I gave one of the guards a raised eyebrow. He moved in her direction and smacked her. She lowered her face and put both hands on her cheek. She wouldn't be able to be heard if she screamed since the location was sufficiently far. He gripped her neck and raised her head. She resisted him as he started to choke her. When I removed his hands from her, her eyes had already started to become white. My question was, "Are you ready to talk now?" She resumed her silence. I snorted. Even with her life in jeopardy, she was proving to be challenging. I pondered if she knew that I could command her to die.
Chapter TWELVE LUCIUS Point of View I was sitting next to the Blue Sea Pack Alpha in the conference room. With his beta William, and alpha Adrian, we spoke about the urgent problem at hand. "The rising rate of rogue in our district is becoming alarming," I said. "If we do not take action immediately, we might end up losing all our soldiers and pack members.""And they would start to doubt our ability to lead," Alpha Adrian said to me. Adrian's beta, William, cleared his throat and started talking. "I still do not understand the reason for this meeting," he said. "Can you come out more clearly, so we would know what and what is involved."I looked at him in disbelief. I was certain that in the letter I wrote inviting them over, I mentioned the purpose of the gathering. Having said that, when I and his brother—the Alpha of Blue Sea Pack—just spoke about the matter, he didn't seem to be listening. I cleared my throat and made the composed decision to follow him. To everyone in thi
CHAPTER 40ALLEGRA Even after carefully opening both of my eyes, I was still unable to see anything. I started wiping my tears. When I opened my eyes once again, all I saw was total blackness. I made an effort to find out what was happening. Why did I not have light? What transpired with me? I got myself up and started to pace the area. It seemed like I was in a room. I was unable to see anything. I made every effort to use my superhuman vision, but nothing worked. I also attempted to develop my claws but to no avail. I surveyed the area. I could only see total blackness. Nothing except dense blackness. "Help!" I gave a high-pitched scream. My voice reverberated across the space. I had the impression that I was sinking. I attempted to move, but I was unable. Entire walls surrounded me. My voice resounded as I let out another scream. I had no one coming to assist me. "What is going on?" I questioned myself. This was not what I intended to hear. I hoped I was still alive. I starte
Chapter Thirty-NineLISA"This is beautiful!" I let out a cry. I was used to thinking aloud at this stage, even though I was alone in my room. I was scrolling through the marketing internet app while sitting in bed with my head propped on the edge of the mattress. I told myself, "This would be the last, I promise," even though I knew it was a lie. I scrolled through a little more and purchased the bag. I hesitated when I noticed one that was beautiful. It took me thirty seconds to order because I kept glancing at it. "Last time, "I ordered more than I could have afforded by the time I was finished. I started looking over the list to see what I could eliminate from my purchase, but I couldn't find anything. I was still unsure about the exact moment my door opened. She was panting like she had just finished a marathon and was drenched in perspiration. "Lisa!" was her call. Her body was trembling with terror, and her voice trembled as she spoke. I questioned her, "What is the matter?"
CHAPTER 38LUCIUS "I would be the one to prepare the financial record," I informed Harrison. I didn't notice him at all. I continued to go through some of the files in front of me."Why the things are taking so long to arrive is beyond me. That is peculiar," I stopped and started to cough. I put my hand on my chest, to the right. It wasn't as though it would lessen my discomfort there. Even though I felt uncomfortable, I had left the room fairly early in the morning. If I felt like that, I wouldn't leave the home on an average day. But not right now. Not while the pack was under my leadership and everything was crumbling before my own eyes. I've been trying so hard to ignore the aching in my chest that I started feeling as soon as I came here. I was dying within, yet I pretended to be perfectly OK. "Do you think you deserve this kind of stress?" Harrison questioned, giving me such a pitying look. "Your eyes already have black rings around them. "After pausing, Harrison let out a l
Chapter 37 ALLEGRA At that time of day, I was curious as to why Lisa was hanging around with the stranger outside the pack house. She couldn't see someone in secret at this young age. Despite my negative feelings towards the person, I choose to move on. as soon as the vehicle left view. I attempted to calm myself down by resting my back on the chair. There were too many thoughts on my mind at once. We had arrived at the orphanage, but I was too preoccupied to notice since I was thinking so much. We all started to get out of the vehicle when the driver turned off the engine. Two more young people and the old lady who oversaw the orphanage. A young lady and a young guy out to greet us. The elderly lady came up to me and said, "You are welcome, my daughter."{~ Salutations," I smiled and said to her. "No one told me you were going to come," she said. She wasn't exactly thrilled to see me, based on the look in her eyes. Perhaps it was simply my attempt to persuade myself that it was
Chapter 36LISA Point of View "How was the festival?" Darren questioned while grinning. "Snap out of it!" I chastised him. "For everyone who attended the event, everything went smoothly and successfully. To God be the praise."What do you mean?" He inquired, instantly switching from a sly smile to a concerned one."What were you expecting when you couldn't do a simple job?" I insisted. I didn't come all the way here to act like Darren did a fantastic job back there; I was upset with him. Due to his inability to do basic tasks, Allegra was able to avoid death at the festival. It was the most effective approach to get rid of her completely. I wanted him to witness my level of rage. He would thus make sure not to miss it once again. I told him, "Everything you did was pointless," and gave him a tooth kiss. "Allegra escaped injury. Not a single blemish on her skin." I apologize for that," he said, lowering his head to face me. I didn't have endless time, and I knew that Darren would kee
Chapter 35 ALLEGRA When I realized I had only heard the knock in my dream, I sprang to my feet. Just as I was ready to lay again, there was a definite knock, although it was mild. My hands and feet were shivering, but I had no idea why. I moved over to the door and let it open. One of the guards was visible to me standing behind the door. He told me, "Ma'am Carla said I should ask if you are ready yet." "Just a little while," I said, trying to grin. "Collect the guards and servants. I'll soon be downstairs with all of you."He turned to go, nodding. When he was gone, I sighed deeply and dropped to the ground till my butt was in contact with the ground. I was not interested in going anywhere today, least of all the orphanage. I had a sneaking suspicion that I may be the target of another attack. What if this was their chance to succeed? I would not let that occur. Never! Why did I allow them to murder me again? They were up against an unidentified enemy. Just as I was unaware tha
CHAPTER 34ALLEGRA The spy laughed and continued, "You needed to see how mad he was when I showed the letter to him." A grin stretched to the edge of my mouth. I became shaky thinking about how uneasy I would be. I was ecstatic to hear the news. Other than when I eventually got my retribution, I had no idea what else would make me happy. "This is only the beginning," I informed her. She continued to chuckle. I told her to "just keep an eye on him for me." She accepted, and I eventually hung up after we spoke for a bit. I had stomach butterflies after hearing the news. I had no idea where to begin with my preparations for retaliation. Still, it was a decent beginning. It pleased me to know that they are uncomfortable and miserable. The next day, I was heading to the orphanage. That was already my decided course of action. To go repair a few things for the orphanage, I got up. I left my room and made my way to the maid's quarters. Outside the courtyard, I saw two maids sitting and
Chapter 33WILDFIRE PACK / ALEXANDER POVA few figures were on my large screen. It was becoming concerning that the figures didn't rhyme, and I would have to spend a lot of time explaining this to the elders and other packs that trusted us with their supplies. All transactions into and out of the account went via me since I was the one overseeing the finances. Even after repeatedly wiping my face, the figures remained unchanged. There was a knock on the door. I hastily shut off the laptop's screen. Until I figure out how to solve this, I should be able to keep this a secret from everyone. I said, "Come in," and did my best to seem good. It was my beta, Clinton, who entered my office. As he entered the office, he carried a brown packet."Hello," he said to me. "What do you want?" I shot back at him. "There's something the spy has for you," he said. I jumped up and down in my seat at the mention of the spy. My heart leaped with joy. I felt ecstatic. "What does she have?" I inquired.
Chapter 32ALLEGRA I watched as Lucius shut the door behind him. I closed my eyes firmly and swallowed hard. He was pushing himself too hard and without purpose, which didn't sit well with me. He had fallen asleep on the sofa. All that indicated was that he wasn't getting enough sleep. Did he ever fall asleep? A tap on the door caught my attention, and a servant emerged into the room. "Ma'am," the woman yelled. "Breakfast is ready."I didn't need the details. I was still planning my meal for when Lucius wasn't even present, even before I'd taken my bath. "I told her to bring my breakfast here." She gave me a startled look and nodded. She probably wanted to ask me why I wouldn't eat, but she lacked the courage, I'd bet my last dollar. I went to freshen up in the bathroom as she left the room. My meal was waiting for me when I returned, sitting next to Lucius's laptop on the table. I was a little angry. Was she not aware of the laptop before she put the food there? The laptop was st
