CHAPTER 2.
My tummy was still rather flat, so I reached for my hands to rub. Whispering, I massaged my stomach, "My baby, my precious baby." It seemed as if I had nothing at all. The child's gender escaped my knowledge. A lady like me would be abhorred by everyone, never mind-mated. What actions may I take? Saving myself simply required one action. There on the floor lie the test reports I had saved to surprise Alexander. He just needed to receive it from me. There was a chance he might return the affection. His love for me will always endure, he had often stated. That he would abruptly lose interest in me was unimaginable. I crept to where the results were and scooped them up with a newfound sense of optimism. I ran my fingers over the "pregnant" section. I was indeed expecting it. All right, I had a shot. Thinking that since everyone had seen me already, I would just leave the mask and the shawl on the floor and crawl to the door. All I could do was crawl since my wheelchair had been taken away from me and I was unable to walk. Trying not to know if the door was locked, I gently pulled it open. Without much noise, the door swung open. The door was open! I felt a wave of relief go over me. That indicated Alexander did not despise me! If he had let them leave the door open, he could not have allowed it to stay open. I slithered outside the door, looking down and swallowing the vast path that lay in front of me with my newfound optimism. Though difficult, I had no choice but to do it. Crawling over the floor, I used one hand to protect my tummy from the surface. The closer I got to the hallway, the faster my heartbeat became and the more my head spun. That was my only opportunity. My fetus and I have only one chance together. Looking up, I saw that the hall door was slightly still ajar as I approached it. My heart was racing, so I decided to take a quick look inside. My dearest friend Vivian was on the raised platform as I peered inside. Her presence in the hallway had escaped my attention due to my intense agony. Suddenly, she was standing there, her body covered in silk, her brown hair pulled up in a majestic braid, her stunning face glistening in the lights. It was a hairdo that only Luna from Wildfire Pack could pull off, and I knew it would be considered treason for any other individual to wear. As half of my hair to my head was also scorched and it looked absurd on me, I had ceased wearing it since the fire incident. Before, while I was in the hallway, I hadn't even realized she was wearing it. It may be that my euphoria had distracted me from seeing anything. Hands trembling, my heartbeat quickened. What was the reason for her wearing it? She knew it was treason, didn't she? Not wanting anything bad to happen to her, I was anxious for her. I prayed silently while clenching my hands, and suddenly I saw Alexander, the guy I had been hoping to see in the big hall. He remained where he had been moments before, standing next to her. And there he stood! What prevented him from telling her to take off the braid? Was her murder his intention? Recalling the disdain I had been met with when my face was exposed, I hesitated before pushing the door wide while holding the pregnancy results in my hand. It made me shudder. Before it was too late, though, I had to show him the results. As the priest was now in the hall, it would be more convenient for him to just join us once more. Alexander had said he loved me, so even though I was unattractive, I knew this was the one opportunity that I would be accepted. I inhaled deeply, held my head high, and used all the grace I could summon to get myself up off the ground and open the door. I held my breath, waiting for the door to explode open and expecting everyone's gaze to shift on me, but nothing happened. Like me, their attention was fixed on Alpha Alexander and Vivian, who were positioned in the "aisle". I pressed myself closer, curious as to what had drawn them so much attention, and I heard the priest talking. "You're free to descend, my love. Permit all of the kids to kiss your hands." My heart trembled at what the priest stated. Those precise words, that is. The way they were uttered, I knew exactly who they were. After Grandpa passed away, the priest crowned me as Luna using those same words. When he kissed her hands, what did it mean? Was what I heard incorrect? I misheard since Vivian answered at that point. "Thank you, priest." After saying that, she turned to face the other free-pack members. "You may kiss my hands." She finished, extending her graceful, long fingers. I watched all the pack members who approached her and kissed her fingers one by one, my one eye-widening in shock. I recalled as I observed the spectacle. I thought back to how the pack had all given me this kind of kiss on my hands when I was made Luna. As they were doing so, I recalled how significant and happy I felt. I couldn't even get myself to imagine that Vivian was going to be proclaimed Luna while I gazed. The entire hall chuckled alongside her. I continued shaking as I left in the middle of the laughs. I vowed not to cry in front of them. No, it was not achievable. No way could my one and only buddy betray me. Alexander had given up on me as Luna, but there was no way he was going to acquire a new Luna this quickly. not to mention Vivian. She would not approve, for sure. Nevertheless, it was getting harder for me to ignore what I was seeing as I saw the entire event play out in front of me. Alexander was staring at her with a smile that made my stomach turn. I had been the only one to get that smile. I shook my head softly. The priest approached her and placed his hand on her forehead. And then, grinning, spoke the exact words that, in a way I never imagined, shattered me; "Vivian Quinn, you are now Alpha Alexander's new wife and Luna of the wildfire Pack." May the moon goddess protect you. As everyone in the pack bowed their heads before Vivian, the new Luna of the pack, my wolf let out a painful scream. I shuddered. For me, it was all over. Alexander Took a fresh Luna. He had deceived me! How could my child, my lovely baby, fare? Glancing down, I grabbed the pregnancy test findings firmly in my hands and hurried out the door before anybody could witness me. The fact that Luna's job was taken over by someone else while I was still alive was the worst embarrassment to me. Not to mention that I witnessed it. I cried as quickly as I could and ran out. Oh, my grandfather had forewarned me. With my fingertips grasping the ground to ensure I didn't fall, I crawled as quickly as I could. "Stop right there." I stopped as a voice called out. It was Vivian. I had to give up. She was Luna now, and her voice had power, so there was nothing else I could have done. I obeyed with a searing sense of guilt, my body stopping naturally. She commanded simply, "Turn," and I did. Now, I had the whole enormous hall gazing at me. I was met with familiar looks of great disdain. For the first time, Vivian was grinning at me, and her smile didn't make me feel better. It was cunning, very different from the Vivian I knew. "Since the previous Luna is here, perhaps she should also kiss my hands. to honor her and bestow blessings upon her. Alexander, don't you think it's an excellent idea?" With her eyes fixed on me, she spoke. "Love, that was such a beautiful idea. Have you forgotten, though, that she has no lips? Sadly, all that such a person can do is discolor your hands." To my dismay, Alexander responded, and everyone hummed in accord. It seemed unbelievable to me. Was this the Alexander I had managed to save? The one who, if it weren't for me, may have been in my shoes? "Sorry! Her lips are missing! I nearly forgot. I'm sure you've already bestowed your blessings upon me, Lyra, so feel free to depart." Vivian chuckled and said. I vowed not to let them witness my tears. How could they turn against me? Had they been hating me the entire time? How did this come about? Did they always have this planned? Were they together all day or had they been for a while? My mind was filled with questions that I wasn't sure I would ever find the answers to. As the door shut behind me, I heard Alexander Shoving everyone out. The ceremony appeared to be over. I had to get out of the hall before anyone noticed. I tried to get to my room before my tears started, but my hands grabbed the floor. My hands failed and I dropped to the floor, trembling as I approached the room. For me, it's over now. My life was destroyed, yet I was still unable to stand out for myself. I raised my hands, looked down at my wounded, damaged fingers from crawling, and started crying uncontrollably. I couldn't express the quiet sobs that went through me. It dawned on me as I glanced at the rumpled pregnancy test results that I was holding that Alexander was still unaware of the pregnancy. It was possible that I still had hope. I had to present the result to him. Tell him about the pregnancy, if for no other reason. I have nowhere else to go right now but here. I had nothing, no assets, and no money in my name. Everything I possessed was registered in Alexander's Name. How stupid had I been? If only I had paid attention to Grandpa's advice not to place all of my possessions under Alexander's Name. If only I weren't acting so naive. I looked up as the door pushed open. To find the new Luna, Vivian Quinn, and the new Alpha Alexander Of Wildfire Pack standing outside the door, kissing furiously, caressing each other, and feeling Alpha Alexander's hand on her behind.CHAPTER 3. I looked as the door pushed open. to find Alexander Kieran, Vivian Quinn, the new Luna standing outside the door, their hands reaching out to caress each other, their mouths pressed into a kiss. My palms trembled. "Oh my... You're really quite beautiful." Interspersed with their kiss, Alexander Remarked. I sat still. I was completely unable to process what I was witnessing. It stunned me. Alexander's level of passion surprised me. He had never been this eager in bed in the five years I was married to him. The pair paused to look at me, and I gripped the paper hard. Then they went back to each other to carry on their act, as if I was no one at all. As I watched them, my wolf howled in despair for the hundredth time today, and my insides twisted in searing agony. "Yes love, right there..." Alexander Groaned and Vivian Groaned as he started licking her neck down to her thigh. Vivian Grinned at me as she twisted her face to face me. "Let's do it here, baby..."
Chapter Four: The rebirth Five Years later Soft, golden light filled the room when I woke up. I felt strangely whole, and the opulent bed underneath me felt wonderful. As I tried to take in my new surroundings, I blinked. It dawned on me then that I had changed. I stood up and found my legs were perfectly working, and my once-disfigured face was now faultless. Getting out of bed, I walked warily over to a full-length mirror. My dream Lyra, pure and lovely, was staring back at me. Feeling my silky skin and running my fingers over my silver-colored hair, I felt a mixture of confusion and bewilderment. With minor slight changes, She was still the same Lyra. "How did this happen?" Not believing even now, I asked. I stood there for a long time after speaking the word. "Did I just speak?" At last, I discovered my voice. "I recently completed it! I said something! I recently did. I leaped about the house and yelled with excitement. I hastened back to the mirror, where I gazed in awe a
CHAPTER 5ALLEGRAIt dawned on me that Lucius was falling for me. I also decided to take advantage of his affection even if I didn't love him back. That morning, I gave Lucius a call to let him know I was interested in seeing him. As I lay in bed contemplating how I would exact my vengeance as quickly as possible, there was a quiet knock on the door. I quickly realized that it was Lucius. I was expecting no one except him. I got out of bed and moved in the direction of the door. After taking hold of the key, I inserted it into the hole and drew the handle back.Greeting me with a "Good morning, Lyra," "Allegra," I corrected him "Good morning, Allegra," he said, acknowledging that mistake. I threw open the door and let him in. he sat on the couch, I sat on the bed facing Lucius. Without exchanging a word, we uncomfortably looked at one another for a while. I started after clearing my throat.I began, "I could be your fake mate." "That is if you will agree to announce me as the L
CHAPTER 6ALLEGRA Lucius guided me around the pack elders' seats while holding my hand. I had to accept their blessings by bowing before them. We greeted the elders and then made our way over to the other pack authorities. The others, like gamma and beta. After we greeted each other, Lucius formally introduced them to me. Their eyes told me a lot was going on in their minds. They weren't convinced that I was their Luna. They also had questions I could see clearly in their eyes. Like, where did she come from? The news that their alpha had unexpectedly attracted a mate startled and unsettled them. I greeted everyone pleasantly and ignored them in all of these. I was unsure if Lucius saw it as well or if it was just me. I still chose to act composed. "She's... pretty," said one of them. "Like a ghost that she appears to be."I took a deep breath and carried on strolling. "Are you sure you know what a Luna is?" I was baited by another one. "This isn't a fashion parade model home. It'
CHAPTER SEVENALLEGRA The event had come to an end. Lucius and I strolled over to his room together. Everyone else in the hall had started to scatter as well. So, we weren't left. When we went to his room, he directed me to his couch, where I sat. "Allegra, he called. " I think I have to take my shower now." I've stressed myself a lot today." He said."I know, right?" I smiled artificially in response. moved in the direction of his closet. He stripped and did behind it. Before long, he was in front of me, his towel wrapped around his waist. I averted my gaze from him to avoid seeing his naked chest. "I assure you, it won't take too much time," he said. "Please, take care of yourself till I return. I was growing restless. I wanted to yell at him to just go ahead and take a bath. I just rolled my eyes and shook my head. His footsteps approached the restroom, and I didn't look up until I heard him closing the door. "Urgh!" I let out a sigh and got to my feet. I changed out of m
CHAPTER EIGHTALLEGRA That awful day came back. I was able to witness the day my ex-mate declared my ex-best friend to be his Luna. Their happy expressions and the pack members' delight. I experienced the painful moment once more. As I witnessed the event, I clenched my hand into a blow, and instead of feeling the depressing aftermath, I felt an intense sense of vengeance. In the lake, I sensed two hands grab and release me. I landed in the water right away. I woke up with a gasp. After all, it was all a nightmare. I was panting fiercely and soaked with sweat. My hands were gripping the blankets tightly, and I was still drenched in perspiration despite the room's AC being on. I heard someone shuffling close, so I looked up to find Lucius quickly putting on his clothing. To my amazement, my gaze went directly to the wall clock. It was just past one in the morning. I wondered where Lucius intended to go this time of the night. He was dressed up, but why? Well, asking him directly t
CHAPTER nineLUCIUSI made my way to the battleground. My guards were occupied fighting the invading rouges. I heard the clanging of swords. Blood spattered everywhere, and roars filled the battlefield. I sprouted my claws and plunged into the combat zone. I was ambushed simultaneously by two rogues, but I managed to put one of them to the ground with a fast kick to the foot. Grabbing the other's blade, I used it to draw him closer to me. As soon as he attempted to take the blade from my grasp, I spun him around by grabbing his neck. I met his gaze directly. He lay down on me and I put my claw around his throat. I wrapped my claw around his neck before he could react, leaving the floor stained with his blood. I overcame all of the rogues with my bare hands and feet, even though they were armed with swords. They weren't as powerful as you had anticipated. We were able to overcome them and seize the remainder of them with relative ease. I examined the helpless targets we had appre
CHAPTER TENLUCIUS Point of View At first, I kept silent. All I could do was stare at her, and she would not stop asking me the same question. I knew I had to respond to her. Anything at all to get her to quit bugging me, or at least keep the truth from her. I would not tell her, and I didn't want her to find out. She gazed up at me, curiosity shining in her eyes as I searched my mind. I could tell she was beginning to get wary already. "Look, Allegra..."I started to say something, but before I could get very far, there was a tap on the door. I felt like smiling as I turned to face the door, but I had to suppress my smile. "Pardon me," I muttered to Allegra, hoping she wouldn't bother me once again. All she did was nod. She was no longer bothering me, and for that I was thankful. I moved over to the door and let it open. I was happy the knock had come. I still hadn't decided which lies to tell Allegra. It was only a rescuer, and I was happy it arrived. One of my guards was w
CHAPTER 40ALLEGRA Even after carefully opening both of my eyes, I was still unable to see anything. I started wiping my tears. When I opened my eyes once again, all I saw was total blackness. I made an effort to find out what was happening. Why did I not have light? What transpired with me? I got myself up and started to pace the area. It seemed like I was in a room. I was unable to see anything. I made every effort to use my superhuman vision, but nothing worked. I also attempted to develop my claws but to no avail. I surveyed the area. I could only see total blackness. Nothing except dense blackness. "Help!" I gave a high-pitched scream. My voice reverberated across the space. I had the impression that I was sinking. I attempted to move, but I was unable. Entire walls surrounded me. My voice resounded as I let out another scream. I had no one coming to assist me. "What is going on?" I questioned myself. This was not what I intended to hear. I hoped I was still alive. I starte
Chapter Thirty-NineLISA"This is beautiful!" I let out a cry. I was used to thinking aloud at this stage, even though I was alone in my room. I was scrolling through the marketing internet app while sitting in bed with my head propped on the edge of the mattress. I told myself, "This would be the last, I promise," even though I knew it was a lie. I scrolled through a little more and purchased the bag. I hesitated when I noticed one that was beautiful. It took me thirty seconds to order because I kept glancing at it. "Last time, "I ordered more than I could have afforded by the time I was finished. I started looking over the list to see what I could eliminate from my purchase, but I couldn't find anything. I was still unsure about the exact moment my door opened. She was panting like she had just finished a marathon and was drenched in perspiration. "Lisa!" was her call. Her body was trembling with terror, and her voice trembled as she spoke. I questioned her, "What is the matter?"
CHAPTER 38LUCIUS "I would be the one to prepare the financial record," I informed Harrison. I didn't notice him at all. I continued to go through some of the files in front of me."Why the things are taking so long to arrive is beyond me. That is peculiar," I stopped and started to cough. I put my hand on my chest, to the right. It wasn't as though it would lessen my discomfort there. Even though I felt uncomfortable, I had left the room fairly early in the morning. If I felt like that, I wouldn't leave the home on an average day. But not right now. Not while the pack was under my leadership and everything was crumbling before my own eyes. I've been trying so hard to ignore the aching in my chest that I started feeling as soon as I came here. I was dying within, yet I pretended to be perfectly OK. "Do you think you deserve this kind of stress?" Harrison questioned, giving me such a pitying look. "Your eyes already have black rings around them. "After pausing, Harrison let out a l
Chapter 37 ALLEGRA At that time of day, I was curious as to why Lisa was hanging around with the stranger outside the pack house. She couldn't see someone in secret at this young age. Despite my negative feelings towards the person, I choose to move on. as soon as the vehicle left view. I attempted to calm myself down by resting my back on the chair. There were too many thoughts on my mind at once. We had arrived at the orphanage, but I was too preoccupied to notice since I was thinking so much. We all started to get out of the vehicle when the driver turned off the engine. Two more young people and the old lady who oversaw the orphanage. A young lady and a young guy out to greet us. The elderly lady came up to me and said, "You are welcome, my daughter."{~ Salutations," I smiled and said to her. "No one told me you were going to come," she said. She wasn't exactly thrilled to see me, based on the look in her eyes. Perhaps it was simply my attempt to persuade myself that it was
Chapter 36LISA Point of View "How was the festival?" Darren questioned while grinning. "Snap out of it!" I chastised him. "For everyone who attended the event, everything went smoothly and successfully. To God be the praise."What do you mean?" He inquired, instantly switching from a sly smile to a concerned one."What were you expecting when you couldn't do a simple job?" I insisted. I didn't come all the way here to act like Darren did a fantastic job back there; I was upset with him. Due to his inability to do basic tasks, Allegra was able to avoid death at the festival. It was the most effective approach to get rid of her completely. I wanted him to witness my level of rage. He would thus make sure not to miss it once again. I told him, "Everything you did was pointless," and gave him a tooth kiss. "Allegra escaped injury. Not a single blemish on her skin." I apologize for that," he said, lowering his head to face me. I didn't have endless time, and I knew that Darren would kee
Chapter 35 ALLEGRA When I realized I had only heard the knock in my dream, I sprang to my feet. Just as I was ready to lay again, there was a definite knock, although it was mild. My hands and feet were shivering, but I had no idea why. I moved over to the door and let it open. One of the guards was visible to me standing behind the door. He told me, "Ma'am Carla said I should ask if you are ready yet." "Just a little while," I said, trying to grin. "Collect the guards and servants. I'll soon be downstairs with all of you."He turned to go, nodding. When he was gone, I sighed deeply and dropped to the ground till my butt was in contact with the ground. I was not interested in going anywhere today, least of all the orphanage. I had a sneaking suspicion that I may be the target of another attack. What if this was their chance to succeed? I would not let that occur. Never! Why did I allow them to murder me again? They were up against an unidentified enemy. Just as I was unaware tha
CHAPTER 34ALLEGRA The spy laughed and continued, "You needed to see how mad he was when I showed the letter to him." A grin stretched to the edge of my mouth. I became shaky thinking about how uneasy I would be. I was ecstatic to hear the news. Other than when I eventually got my retribution, I had no idea what else would make me happy. "This is only the beginning," I informed her. She continued to chuckle. I told her to "just keep an eye on him for me." She accepted, and I eventually hung up after we spoke for a bit. I had stomach butterflies after hearing the news. I had no idea where to begin with my preparations for retaliation. Still, it was a decent beginning. It pleased me to know that they are uncomfortable and miserable. The next day, I was heading to the orphanage. That was already my decided course of action. To go repair a few things for the orphanage, I got up. I left my room and made my way to the maid's quarters. Outside the courtyard, I saw two maids sitting and
Chapter 33WILDFIRE PACK / ALEXANDER POVA few figures were on my large screen. It was becoming concerning that the figures didn't rhyme, and I would have to spend a lot of time explaining this to the elders and other packs that trusted us with their supplies. All transactions into and out of the account went via me since I was the one overseeing the finances. Even after repeatedly wiping my face, the figures remained unchanged. There was a knock on the door. I hastily shut off the laptop's screen. Until I figure out how to solve this, I should be able to keep this a secret from everyone. I said, "Come in," and did my best to seem good. It was my beta, Clinton, who entered my office. As he entered the office, he carried a brown packet."Hello," he said to me. "What do you want?" I shot back at him. "There's something the spy has for you," he said. I jumped up and down in my seat at the mention of the spy. My heart leaped with joy. I felt ecstatic. "What does she have?" I inquired.
Chapter 32ALLEGRA I watched as Lucius shut the door behind him. I closed my eyes firmly and swallowed hard. He was pushing himself too hard and without purpose, which didn't sit well with me. He had fallen asleep on the sofa. All that indicated was that he wasn't getting enough sleep. Did he ever fall asleep? A tap on the door caught my attention, and a servant emerged into the room. "Ma'am," the woman yelled. "Breakfast is ready."I didn't need the details. I was still planning my meal for when Lucius wasn't even present, even before I'd taken my bath. "I told her to bring my breakfast here." She gave me a startled look and nodded. She probably wanted to ask me why I wouldn't eat, but she lacked the courage, I'd bet my last dollar. I went to freshen up in the bathroom as she left the room. My meal was waiting for me when I returned, sitting next to Lucius's laptop on the table. I was a little angry. Was she not aware of the laptop before she put the food there? The laptop was st
