Euthalia’s POV
THREE YEARS AGO
I was furiously taping my feet on the floor as I tried to decide which perfume I was going to use for the Moon Goddess ceremony.
I had performed this veneration for years before I was eighteen and even got to know who my mate was. But I guess my mate and Alpha, Andrei, had always known.
He had sent tons of dresses for me to pick from and managed to pick the white one with stones around it.
“You really shouldn’t be worried about what kind of lip gloss you’re going to put on. All the attention will be drawn to you anyway.” Andrei said behind me. He walked up to me, and placed a wet kiss on my shoulder, making me tingle all over.
“I’m a role model for these Omegas. I have to represent the pack correctly.’’
He rolled his eyes, with his towel still wrapped around his waist. I wondered what he would do if I loosened the towel and took control of him.
Nope, I shook my head. That was Anastacia talking.
I still had to tell him that we were expecting a baby.
“What are you thinking about?” he asked when I noticed that I had been biting my lip all along.
“Fine, use this one,” he said, picking one of the lip glosses from the table. I took it from him, with a smile.
“Have you seen Father around?” he asked, changing his clothes while I swallowed hard at the rock-hard sight of him.
“N-no, but I’m sure that he will be there to attend the ceremony,” I replied hastily.
He nodded, not giving it much thought.
He was ready by the time I had finished making touches to my makeup. He took my arms in his. I took one last long look in the mirror, admiring how perfectly we looked together.
“Are you ready?” he asked.
“This isn’t the first time. I’m more ready than ever.” I tip-toed for a kiss, shocking him. He held me by the waist, drawing me in for more.
“Please, please, please,” someone begged, making the both of us laugh.
It was Daisy, his cute and troublesome cousin.
“I get the fact that you both can't keep your hands off each other but we have a ceremony to attend. And you both are the hosts.”
She wasn’t letting us have any peace if we weren’t going with her. We ended up obliging and following her.
By the time we got downstairs, every single member of the pack except his father was there.
They bowed down.
“All Hail the Alpha and Luna,” they all said at once. Andrei nodded at them before they finally stood up again.
The priestess was already there, setting everything in place. She brought forth her hand, urging me to take it.
I walked towards her majestically, taking her hand. I heard the whispers, praising my dress among the pack women. Just as we had planned.
As soon as my palm was in the priestess’, a few guards rushed into the estate.
They had mind-linked Andrei. I could tell through the worried look on his face.
I let go of the priestess immediately when I saw him head towards the gate. I followed him. There was no way we could do the ceremony without the Alpha being there.
“You should probably go back home,” he said in heavy breaths as he approached the gate. I quickly caught up with him even if the doctor had specifically asked me not to stress myself.
“At least you will tell me exactly what is going on.”
“Some guards said they had seen Father’s body somewhere in the woods. I’m going to make sure it’s not him.”
I stopped in my tracks immediately but then I continued to follow him. There was no way I was going to leave him alone in a situation like that.
We finally got to the spot where the guards had seen the body. It was his father. I could tell from a distance; the wideness of his shoulders, and the sharp cleft in his jaw.
Andrei dropped to his knees immediately, his body trembling gently. “Who would have done this?” he roared.
The death wasn’t of natural causes. The man’s blood was practically flowing everywhere.
“There’s something here, Alpha,” Vincenzo said, squatting to the level of the body.
Andrei got up immediately, taking the piece of cloth that was in Vincenzo’s hand.
The cloth looked like something that my father-in-law was holding onto. More like so that the owner couldn’t escape. And the owner was probably the culprit.
As Andrei raised the cloth towards the moon, I gasped immediately, recognizing the cloth.
Andrei looked at me as well. He could recognize the cloth as well.
“Isn’t the clothes you wore this afternoon?”
I couldn’t shake or nod my head. About a hundred people had praised me for it. I was the only one with that piece, I was a designer.
I couldn’t move.
He stood up, towering over me. I never really knew how tall he was or how short he was until then.
“Where were you this afternoon, Euthalia?” I flinched immediately. It was the first time he wasn’t calling me Talia.
“What?” I asked. “You couldn’t possibly be suspecting me right?”
“Where were you?” he demanded again, louder than the last time. I looked in shock.
His eyes were blazing with a sudden fire in them. He looked like a stranger. Not the calm man I had known all my life.
The Doctor’s place was at the tip of my tongue, but I didn’t say it.
I didn’t want this stranger to know that I had a child with him.
“Isn’t it what you wanted?” I asked, letting out a sad laugh.
“You didn’t want him dictating the rules. Well, there you have it. The old man is dead.”
All the guards looked at me in shock and I knew that I had said something I shouldn’t have.
It was too late to take it back. Nor did I miss the tears that dropped from Andrei’s eyes.
“Get out,” he fired at me.
Euthalia’s PovPRESENT DAYMy wolf, Anastacia had picked on the feel of them immediately and I panicked. My heartbeat increased at an unbearable rate and my hands flew to my chest as I ran further into the mansion. They were here now and were going to take me with them. There was no going back!“Euthalia?” Eddie called out. He had managed to house me in his pack and I was happily playing the slave. I managed to mumble a reply from the back of the wardrobe but he found me in seconds. “What are you doing here?” he asked, with his brow cocked upward. He had seen much of my misbehaviour, so he wasn’t shocked. “They are here for me. They’ve come.” My voice shook greatly with fear.He almost threw his head off his neck while laughing. “Nobody dangerous is here. Just a few people from neighbouring packs that were conducting surveys.’’ ‘‘We just need to answer some questions, and we’ll be back inside.” He shrugged. I read something in his smile, a kind of sadness. I pushed the thought
Euthalia’s PovMy knees buckled at his confession. I couldn’t stop the burst of laughter that made its way up my throat. “You brought me out of my happy place just to reject me? You rejected me the moment you brought me out of the palace.”“You wouldn’t be out of here if you didn’t kill my father, Euthalia,” he said, looking behind my shoulder with disgust. The tears pricked my eyes just like back in the day. “I didn’t kill him.”He let out a sad laugh. “And yet you can’t prove yourself till now.”I shook my head slowly, “How do I prove myself if you keep hunting me down with your men? I can't prove myself if you keep an eye on me all the time and give limitations on things I can do. No matter what I do.”Before he could reply, every single pack member had assembled in the huge palace. Those who came late stood outside, straining their necks to hear everything that was going on outside. The news that I was around had spread, they were just here to see. “Euthalia is back to the pal
Andrei’s POVI watched her green eyes blaze in a sort of anger. Who was she to get angry when she was at fault all the time? I promised myself that I would forgive her if she just came to me and told me the reason why she had killed my father. Maybe I would have forgiven her. But she continuously denied it and had no proof. She only made things worse when she said that I would have never been Alpha if my dad hadn’t died.I couldn’t help but let my eyes stray to her gown that rode mid-thigh. My wolf, Tim, howled in want. Her pupils suddenly dilated like she could smell the arousal all over me. I had to clench my fists from craving the touch of her soft skin. Or her lips against mine. She cleared her throat, bringing me out of my thoughts. Before I could say anything, she walked right past me, into the toilet in our… my room. I stood at the door, leaning against the doorframe as I watched her bend over to clean.“You shouldn’t be watching your maid clean,” she said, with all the sas
Euthalia’s POVI looked back one more time, making sure that nobody had their eyes on me as I headed out of the pack gates. It had been exactly a week since Andrei had his men drag me away from my safe place. Only Antonio had seen me outside, but he looked straight ahead like he didn’t see me. I said one more prayer to the Moon Goddess before heading out. I made sure that I had done all my duties before heading out. And for anyone that I had forgotten, Alice promised to fill in for me. She didn’t know where I was headed, and she didn’t ask either. I managed to find my way back to where I was brought from. Eddie was the first person I had seen, talking to one of the other pack members. He smiled at me but ignored him, walking past him. “Euthalia,” he called out. “There are so many things you should know.”That didn’t even make me stop in my tracks. I might have listened to him, but not until I saw who I wanted to see. I walked right into the palace. The Luna, Avery gave a worrie
