I was frozen in place.
It was as if time stood still as I watched them making love. They paid no attention to their surroundings, too busy touching each other, biting, and clawing.
My best friend and my husband were too immersed in each other to notice me standing there, watching. My heart was shattering into tiny pieces. I tried to say something and cry out in protest, but no sound came out.
Betrayal is a bitter brew, isn't it?
I couldn't believe it! How could they betray me like this? Did they just get together? Or has it been a long time?
I sobbed out loud, making Adrian flinch. He turned to look at me. His blue eyes turned dark as he realized what had happened.
"Wha...why..." my voice came out a mere whisper.
I should be yelling, screaming, clawing his eyes out ,but I was too hurt to attack him. I was pregnant with his child. We were supposed to build a family together but now? What will happen to me now?
"Oh my god, Lindsey!" Betty screamed and pushed Adrian off of her. My mouth filled with bitterness.
She scrambled to her feet, trying to put her clothes on while Adrian clumsily pulled his pants up.
"Why?" I asked again.
"Lindsey. Let's talk about this," Adrian said in a grim tone. He didn't look scared or shocked as if he had been waiting for this day. It made me wonder if he even cared how I felt.
"Don't speak to me!" I snapped at Adrian and then looked directly into Betty's eyes. "You. Was this your intention this entire time? To steal Adrian from me?"
"I didn't steal anyone," Betty hissed.
"Then what do you call this?" I sobbed. I hated to cry in front of them. It made me feel weak, but I couldn't stop the tears. My heart felt like it was about to burst.
"Adrian and I are meant to be with each other. He is mine, not yours!" Betty said. Her lips twisted into a smug smile.
"What are you talking about?"
"Betty, don't…" Adrian tried to interrupt, but Betty hugged his waist.
"Don't deny it anymore, Adrian. It's too late. She already saw us together, so might as well reveal everything."
Reveal what? What the hell was going on here?
"I can't believe it. You still haven't figured it out? Adrian and I are mates, Lindsay. Do you know what that means?"
Mates...
I knew exactly what it meant. For generations, we were told that one day we would meet our mate, and once we did, we'd be bound to them for life.
But I thought that was an old wife tale and never believed in it. Betty and I used to make fun of those who believed in it, and now? She expected me to believe that Adrian was her mate?
"How can it be? How could Adrian be your mate? He is my husband and the fa-"I stopped. I wasn't sure if I wanted to reveal my pregnancy yet. The happiness I felt was long gone and this was the worst time to tell him about our child!
"He married you because you served him a purpose, that's all," Betty hissed.
My body was shaking in anger, but I managed to stand my ground. "What purpose?" I asked quietly.
"Your parents are powerful, so Adrian needed their help to become the Alpha of the Blood Crown Pack. And would you look at that? He did the right thing. Because now, no one can stand in his way." Betty giggled.
I couldn't believe it. The man I thought I loved was a selfish prick who was hungry for power. It seemed that he never cared about me in the first place!
Tears streamed down my face. I turned to Adrian to see if he would say something, but he only stared. He didn't even bother to deny any of this.
"And you, Betty? How can you support him? You were supposed to be my best friend! Why didn't you stop him?" I said foolishly. I guess part of me hoped that Adrian tricked Betty. Maybe if I convinced her to leave him, she would come back to me and support me. I was willing to forgive her then.
Betty threw her hair back and laughed. "Oh, Lindsey. You've always been so naive. Why would I stop him? I was the one who suggested the plan. I told him you had your little schoolgirl crush on him for years, so it'd be easy to convince you to marry him."
I couldn't take it anymore. I let out a pained cry and lunged at her. I wanted to claw her eyes out for lying to me and making me feel like she loved and cared about me.
But it was hopeless.
Adrian grabbed me before I had the chance to attack Betty and held me in place.
"Let go of me!" I roared and struggled in his arms, but he was stronger than me.
"Calm down, Lindsey, don't act like a shrew." Adrian said in my ears.
"You call me a shrew? Don't tell me to calm down, you treacherous asshole! I can't believe you are doing this to me! I loved you! We were going to be a family." I sobbed and looked at Betty, who stared at me with her eyes full of hatred. "And YOU! Do you think you'll be happy with Adrian? He betrayed me, so he is capable of doing the same to you," I spat at her.
Betty walked over to me. Her eyes were glowing with anger. She raised her hand and then smashed it against my face as hard as she could, making my eyes water.
I let out a small whimper, my cheeks stung. "Y...you hit me," I said in a hoarse whisper.
"And I will do it again if you don't behave, Lindsey," Betty snarled.
Adrian turned me around to face him. He reached over and wiped the blood from the corner of my lips, then lifted my chin to meet his eyes. "Look, Lindsey. Just go home and calm yourself down. Betty is my mate, and I love her. It's our fate. It's better that you leave quietly."
"Leave?" I whispered.
"Go and stay with your parents for a bit. I will come see you, and we will try to figure things out. How does that sound, hmm?" Adrian cooed.
I shoved his hand away and then went back to the house. What else could we talk about? Adrian has made his decision and chose Betty over me. They were mates, and me? I was nothing. The two people who I thought loved me betrayed me. Everything was a lie.
~-~I packed up all of my stuff and left Adrian's pack. I gave my parents some lame excuse about how I missed them and just wanted to visit, but in reality, I was trying to figure out what to do about this Adrian situation. How could I tell them that the man I loved decided to run off with my cousin? I couldn't tell them anything.
And the child in my belly...what would happen to it if Adrian never accepted me again?
I needed to tell my parents everything, I thought to myself as I sat down for dinner one day.
I couldn't keep it a secret forever, especially with a child growing inside me. Besides, my mom was starting to question me. She kept asking why I wasn't going back to Adrian's pack.
My phone suddenly rang as I was about to take my last bite. I narrowed my eyes at the name.
Amelia.
What did she want? I was annoyed.
She was part of Adrian's pack, so that makes her my enemy, right?
"What is it, Amelia?" I sighed when I answered.
"Lindsey, I need to tell you something!" Amelia sounded frantic, so I quickly turned alert.
"It's Adrian. He decided to attack your pack!" Amelia cried. What? Adrian wanted to attack my father's pack? I didn't think he could stoop this low.
"Are you sure, Amelia? Would Adrian really do something like that?" I asked, hoping I was wrong."I know we are not close, Lindsey, but I always saw you as a friend. So please believe me when I tell you this. Adrian and Betty have been conspiring against your family, and now that Adrian finally formed an army, he is coming after you."
An army. So this was why Adrian was so focused on making an army. He wanted to defeat my father all along!
"I am coming to see Adrian, I must stop him!" I declared.
"Wait...Lindsey, I don't know if it's safe!"
"I don't care."
I hung up on Amelia and then headed toward Adrian's pack house. I couldn't just let Adrian and Betty walk all over me. I had to stop them. Luckily, I still had my spare key, so I could get inside the house without anyone stopping me."ADRIAN!? Are you in there? Come out right now!" I yelled. I went upstairs to look for him, but he wasn't there.
I fumed as I watched Betty walking out of the bedroom, wearing nothing but Adrian's shirt.
So that's how it is. This bitch had already taken over my home. Rage burned through my veins, but I kept myself cool so I could discuss the matter with her. I needed to stay calm."Betty. I know you are happy about finding your mate even though it meant stealing my husband, but our pack is in trouble," I cried.Betty scoffed. "So what?"
"So what? You are part of that pack too!" I reminded her.
"I don't give a fuck about the Blue moon pack anymore. Adrian is now the most powerful Alpha, so the rest of you are worthless to me," Betty snarled.
I stared at her dumbfounded. I couldn't recognize her anymore. How did she change so much? Just because she found her mate, family meant nothing to her?
I turned around, intending to storm out of there. I couldn't handle her presence anymore. I needed to go back to my parents and tell them everything, so they could stop Adrian from destroying everything I'd ever loved.
But before I could walk downstairs, I felt someone push me from behind.
NO!
I barely had a chance to scream.
I tried to grab onto something, anything, to keep myself from falling, but all I felt was air. And soon, it was over.
I crashed on the ground with a thud, hitting my head against the wooden stair.
"My...my baby...save my baby..." I could barely whisper as I felt a sharp pain on my side.
I saw a figure standing over me, watching me as everything slowly turned black.I felt like I was floating in darkness. Am I dead? I thought to myself as I tried to move my fingers. "Lindsey, are you awake?" I heard someone calling me, so I opened my eyes. I closed them immediately as the bright fluorescent light assaulted my eyes. I felt someone touching my forehead, brushing away some strands of hair. Their fingers felt warm and comforting, and it made me sleepy again. "Come back to me, Lindsey," a deep voice spoke, so I snapped my eyes open again. I squinted to take a good look at the figure looming over my face. It was a man. "Adrian?" I whispered, but my vision was already starting to clear. "Oh, it's you," I whispered. Alvis smiled. "Don't look so disappointed." "Where am I?" I tried to get up but groaned as I felt pain in my stomach. "Don't get up. You need to rest," Alvis scolded me. Wait, why was he here? I suddenly remembered bits and pieces of what happened last night, and my heart plunged to my throat. My hands moved on their own as they tou
"You are pregnant," I repeated as I couldn't believe my ears. Betty smiled brightly, radiant and glowing with happiness. The happiness that should've been mine. I returned to my room in a state of disorientation. Sure, I was still Luna, but that title meant nothing. Adrian didn't respect me ever, and I had lost our child. To him, I was nothing. And now that Betty was pregnant with his child? He will deem me as their enemy. They took everything from me. The man I loved most and my best friend, together, betrayed me. But, more importantly now, my pack and my parents. How are they doing now? I must go back and make sure nothing has happened to them. But I had just had a miscarriage, and the succession of news made an already weak me even less energetic. Before I could go out, I fainted. When I was awake again , I heard someone call me. "Miss? Are you OK? You need to eat something." Someone spoke to me, so I looked up. I recognized her as Adrian's nanny. "What is it?" I asked w
Alvis POV Ever since I could discern my feelings, I knew that Lindsey was different for me, the Alpha's daughter from the Blue Moon Pack. Unfortunately, I was a bit older than her, so I never got to play with her. Lindsey never looked at me as a companion, and sometimes I felt like she was afraid of me, so I stayed out of her way. Not once did I take her as a sister. Growing up, I always thought she was cute with her raven black hair, red lips, and tiny freckles on her cheeks like pieces of sunshine. And then, when she grew up, she blossomed into someone even more exquisite. Lindsey was radiant and heartbreakingly beautiful. I was attracted to her innocence and charm. I watched her secretly, just so I could get a glimpse of her smile. So when I found out she was to be married to my brother, Adrian, I was devastated. But I knew Lindsey loved Adrian for the longest time. I watched her from a distance and saw how happy she was when she found out Adrian wanted to marry her. My hear
I groaned as I felt the sunlight hitting my eyes. I struggled to open my eyes, and when I finally did, I stared at the familiar ceiling. I sat up abruptly and looked around in confusion. I was in the house I lived before I married. What's going on? I was outside in the field, and my pack was attacked, so when did I return to my bedroom? I touched my face and body, completely amazed. I didn't think returning from what I'd been through was possible. I squinted my eyes, trying to remember what had happened. But I couldn't remember how I got home. The last thing remembered was an arrow flying at me and then piercing through my chest. And an enormous wolf running toward me. My mouth filled with bitterness as all of my bad memories came rushing back to me. Adrian and Betty betrayed me and then murdered me. That's right, I was dead, wasn't I? My hand subconsciously touched my stomach. It was flat as I was not pregnant anymore. I felt a wave of sadness as I remembered losing my baby.
Alvis, what did he want from me? I remembered him running toward me right before I died in my last life. I didn't have the time to speak to him then. He had screamed my name. He sounded angry as if seeing me die upset him greatly. But I wasn't sure if I could trust him yet. He was my enemy's brother, after all.But then again, the last time I checked, Alvis had his own separate pack, so he may not have been part of Adrian's schemes. All these questions circulated in my mind, but I knew I had to be patient. Now that I was given a chance to start over, I had more time to figure things out. Sue handed me the phone. I took a deep breath before answering as I felt butterflies in my stomach. Alvis never called me. We hardly ever talked, so I wasn't sure why he wanted to speak to me now. "Linsey?" he asked in a low and husky voice, making my heart skip a beat. "H...hi Alvis," I said. I hoped he wouldn't notice how nervous I was. "Are you okay?" he asked. Huh? Why was he asking me tha
I remembered what had happened at that party. I winced as I recalled everything I had felt that night. The humiliation I felt. It was nothing compared to the pain I felt when she betrayed me, but it still hurt me because I remember the way Betty made a mockery of me. She made me look self-obsessed and proud. Betty showed up at the party with a rogue girl accompanying her that night. Selena was a rogue as she had committed petty theft and forgery. My father, the Alpha, didn't want to imprison her since she was so young. Instead, he enslaved her. Selena didn't argue and accepted her fate, as it was better than being jailed for life. Needless to say, it wasn't the most uncommon to bring someone like that as your personal maid, so no one ever batted an eye when Betty decided to bring Selena to the party. I wouldn't have either, except... The girl was wearing the same dress as me! Don't get me wrong, I wasn't angry because a slave girl wore the same dress as me. I was angry because I
"Adrian is here to see you."I didn't speak for a moment. I could feel the anger boiling inside me slowly at the mention of his name. What did he want with me? Did he come here to make a mockery of me?Wait, no. I couldn't think that just yet.Everything he did to me happened in my past life, so now I have the chance to find out how long he'd been planning his betrayal. I had to act friendly and fool him into thinking I was on his side.Time to test out your acting skills, Lindsey, I told myself."Tell him I'll be right out," I said to Sue, then headed to my closet.I changed into the sexiest dress I could find and fixed my hair before seeing Adrian. I vowed to make him sorry for what he did to me from this point on."Lindsey!" Adrian beamed at me.The old me would've exploded from joy upon looking at him, but the new me was trying her best to control her anger. So when I gazed into his blue eyes, all I could think about was strangling him to death."Adrian. What brings you here?" I sa
Dance with Adrian? I'd only been dreaming about this for years, and now my wish was about to come true. But instead of being happy, I was afraid. I can't forget the emotionlessness in Adrian's eyes as he looked at me before I died. I couldn't let myself fall in love with Adrian again. I wouldn't let history repeat itself! Because the last time I gave my heart to this man, I lost everything. I couldn't let it happen to me again, so I had to be strong. "No, thank you," I said and offered him a polite smile. Tonight was my night. I wouldn't let myself fall for his good looks so easily this time. Adrian's eyes lit up in shock. "What do you mean?" "I mean, I don't want to dance with you, Adrian. Maybe you should dance with Betty instead?" I offered. I saw Betty's eyes turn wide in my peripheral vision. She knew how much I wanted Adrian, so hearing me say this must be a big shock to her. Adrian shook his head. "I don't understand. Are you refusing to dance with me? What's going on wit
My mind couldn't process what Cresil was saying. My brothers? How could that be possible? I had grown up with them, thinking we were just cousins.“What? How would you know that?” I asked.Cresil's expression turned serious. "I have my ways of finding out information," he said cryptically. "But more importantly, you need to understand that this doesn't change anything. You and your brothers are still family, and you still love each other just as much as before."I took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing thoughts. "I know that," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "It's just a lot to take in."Cresil nodded. "I know it is. But I kept the end of my bargain and told you the secret. What you want to do with it is up to you.”I need to talk to my mother, I thought you myself.Cresil seemed to sense my thoughts. "It would be a good idea to confront your mother about this.Taking a deep breath, I got up from the bed. “Take me back to my house.”Cresil nodded and stood up, taking my
I sighed, feeling a mix of annoyance and attraction towards Cresil. I knew he was trying to push my buttons, but I couldn't deny that I wanted him too.I stood up and slowly began to undress, letting my clothes fall to the ground one by one. Cresil's eyes roamed over my body, his gaze hungry and possessive."Beautiful," he breathed, reaching out to touch me.I stepped away, feeling a sense of defiance growing within me. "You still haven't told me what I need to know," I reminded him.Cresil smirked. "Always so focused on business. I still haven't gotten everything I wanted from you.""Why do I get to be the only one standing here naked? That's not fair," I said. Cresil chuckled. "You have a point there. Come here," he said, pulling me towards him.I kept my eyes glued to his body as he began to undress. His human form was sculpted to perfection but that's not what attracted me about him. "I want you to change back to your true form," I said in a hoarse whisper.Cresil looked at me w
When I opened my eyes, I found myself in a dimly lit room, sitting on a plush couch. My head was pounding, and my body felt heavy and sluggish. I tried to get up, but my limbs refused to cooperate. Panic set in as I realized I was trapped. I turned to look for Cresil, but he was nowhere to be seen."Cresil, where are you?" I called out, my voice echoing in the empty room.A moment later, the door opened, and someone walked in, a smug grin on his face. "Welcome to my humble abode," he said, gesturing around the room. "I hope you find it to your liking.""Err...who are you?" I looked at him with confusion. "Where is Cresil? He was the one who kidnapped me." I observed him closely. This man had long hair too, but his skin didn't have the greyish-purple hue, and his eyes weren't Amber. They were bright blue."I see you don't recognize me in my human form," he laughed. The sound of his voice...it suddenly dawned on me. "You are Cresil!"He chuckled. "Look who figured it out."“You look….”
I stood there, stunned and unsure of what to do next. Part of me wanted to run away from him, to forget about the dangerous and alluring demon that stood before me. But another part of me was drawn to him, like a moth to a flame.I knew that I should leave, but I couldn't bring myself to move. He must have sensed my hesitation because he reached for me again. "I said get out of here," he growled, but there was a hint of desperation in his voice as if he didn't really want me to go.I closed my eyes and leaned into his touch, feeling a strange sense of comfort in his rough fingers against my skin. "I don't want to leave," I whispered. "I want to help you."He let out a bitter laugh. "Help me?" he repeated. "I don't need help. I'm a demon, remember?""And I am a dragon. We aren't all that different," I said.He looked at me for a long moment, his amber eyes piercing into my soul. "Perhaps you're right," he said finally, his voice low and gravelly. "But you need to understand that I am n
As we made our way back to the main area of the pack, my mind was racing with questions. What was Rhys hiding from me? And why was this demon so intent on causing trouble?I decided to take Rhys aside and get some answers. "Hey, can we talk for a minute?" I said, pulling him aside. He looked at me, his expression guarded. "Sure, what's up?""I just wanted to know what you're not telling me," I said, crossing my arms. "You said you and the demon had a history. What did you mean by that?"Rhys sighed, running a hand through his hair. "It's complicated," he said. "Let's just say that I made a deal with him a long time ago, and it didn't end well."I raised an eyebrow. "A deal? What kind of deal?"Rhys hesitated before answering. "He wanted something from me, and I agreed to give it to him. But he didn't hold up his end of the bargain.""What did he want?"Rhys sighed, his shoulders slumping. "I know," he said, his voice quiet. "But it's complicated, and I didn't want to burden anyone els
I stared at the deer, dumbfounded.Did Fae deer know how to speak too?But my questions were answered immediately as the deer started shifting. As I watched in amazement, the deer's body began to morph and contort, its limbs elongating and twisting into something that was definitely not natural. Within moments, the deer had transformed into a strange man.My jaw dropped as I took in the transformation before me. His features were almost otherworldly. His hair was long and tangled, and his eyes seemed to glimmer with an ethereal light. The man seemed unbothered by my shock and awe, "nothing to say?" he said in a calm and measured tone."Um...are you a werewolf? Wait, no. Werewolves can't shift into another animal. So you are no dragon, either. So what are you?" I asked. He glared at me. "None of your business.""It is too my business. You are trespassing. Um...Andrew and Rhys said you were a Fae deer. But you are a human?" I stared at him in amazement."No, I am not a human either," he
I am Aurora, a dragon shifter who is unlike any other. I am half-dragon and half-werewolf, a unique combination that has never been seen before. My mom Lindsey used to say that I was a miracle as dragons and werewolves were never supposed to breed. You might thing it would make me feel more powerful and unique but that wasn't always the case. As a child, I struggled to control my transformations, often shifting between my dragon and werewolf forms at the most inconvenient times. But as I grew older, I learned to harness my powers and use them to my advantage. My life was complicated, to say the least. I never felt like I fit in with either the dragons or the werewolves. The dragons saw me as a half-breed, not fully one of their own, while the werewolves were wary of my dragon side, which they saw as a potential threat. But despite these challenges, I refused to let my mixed heritage hold me back. I trained tirelessly to master my powers and become the best warrior I could be, alway
I watched her flip through her book furiously and grinned secretly. She had no idea I was faking the whole thing and that stupid love potion didn't work on me either. I just thought it'd be funny to pull a prank on her. But what I didn't expect was how much I enjoyed kissing her. Fuck, that was hot. "There! The antidote for the love potion," Natasha muttered."An antidote, huh?" I said sheepishly."Yes so you wouldn't be in love with me anymore," Natasha said seriously."Hmm...but what if I want to stay in love with you?" I winked playfully.Natasha blushed. "Don't be silly," she mumbled. I chuckled and leaned in closer to her. "I'm not being silly, Natasha. I really like you."Her eyes widened in surprise and she pulled away slightly. "Whatever. After the antidote, you'll come to your senses," she said and then proceeded to make the antidote for the love potion.I watched her in amazement as she busily threw stuff in her pot and mumbled bunch of gibberish. As she worked, I couldn'
NatashaOh my god, I couldn't believe he actually did it. Andrew drank the love potion! What would happen now?I stared at him, wide-eyed. But I'm not super worried since it didn't work on Xander earlier. So that means it won't work on Andrew.I watched Andrew swallow the love potion-riddled drink. I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease wash over me.What if it worked on Xander, and it just had a delayed effect? Then I would have two guys fall in love with me!As the minutes ticked by, nothing seemed to be happening."So...um...feel any different?" I asked nervously.Andrew looked thoughtful. "Um...hmm...I don't know."I began to relax, thinking that maybe the love potion was actually a dud. I'll have to remake it for Xander. But then, suddenly, Andrew's demeanor changed. He started to fidget in his seat, and his eyes darted around the room nervously. And then, just as quickly, his gaze settled on me, and he seemed to lock onto me like a missile."Oh my god," I muttered under my b
