Chapter 1: The Alpha King's Proposal
Danica's POV "Get the hell out of my face, you useless daughter of a slave!" a middle-aged woman yelled at me while having a hard time controlling her temper. She already slapped me hard twice on both sides of my face. But all I could do was drop my eyes to the tiled floor with the endless tears flooding my cheeks like an open faucet. "Better make sure you can pay us with gold coins within two days as promised, omega." her mate added before he reached out to my chin and lifted my head, allowing me to see the terrifying glow of his eyes, "Or else I'll order someone to kill your worthless parents. Do you understand?" "My family had more than enough, but I am afraid I cannot lend you a single cent, Danica. You are one of the omegas with the lowest rank. There's no way you can pay me back even for the rest of your life." One of my female close friends shut the door of her room, leaving me hopeless. "I regretted becoming one of your friends, Danica." Sharlene, one of my closest friends uttered. "Because you keep on approaching me, humans and werewolves around us also thought I am like you. Stay as far away from me, will you?" "Of course, I can lend you a few gold coins, Danica, but on one condition." a human loan shark proposed before he reached out to my lower butt and maniacally smiled at me. "Have sex with me. Make this old man the happiest person who ever lived in the world. Just one night. I mean, we both know you are in such a desperate situation to pay your parent's debt. It's a win-win." Those were the most unfortunate statements I usually heard from everyone every time my wolf needed to address my parents' wrongdoings. I suffered a lot more than anyone could have imagined both physically and mentally to the point that my wolf kept having nightmares every time I closed my eyes. My heart and mind even have had a unified solution to our endless nightmares which is committing suicide. No matter how painful it is, I have no choice when the world is so mean to me. Being one of the omegas with the lowest rank in the Blood Moon pack is considered unfortunate for the werewolf world- slaves to be precise. Since both of my parents are natural-born omegas with destined fates, our main source of living is to make errands from the alphas and betas such as killing and stealing anything that has value including food and drinks. And for us to be able to survive the nightmares we are dreaming of. "Danica, your parents are in huge trouble again! Come, quick! The Alpha's werewolf commanders were dragging them to the dungeon." My profound sleep was cut off when Justine, one of my omega friends slammed the door open. His entire body was covered in sweat while catching his breath before he continued, "They were caught sneaking into someone's house. You must help them before the alpha feeds their bodies to the lions and crocodiles!" Justine Cody has been my best friend since we were ten and the only male wolf in the Blood Moon pack who treated me equally important. Similar to me, his parents were also thieves. But the only difference between us was that I did not follow in my parent's footsteps. My kind of wonderful dream is to become a beta, regardless of rank. He supported me to have that kind of impossible dream. He even doesn't want me to get my hands dirty and risk my wolf getting caught. Over the years, through ups and downs, we claimed each other to be best friends. Female werewolves were supposed not to befriend the male ones unless they have to get mated but we don't care about breaking such kind of written rules. Justine is patiently waiting for me to reach eighteen which will happen in four days so he can mate my wolf. He declared to be my destined mate. But I don't believe such a thing existed to our kind. I don't have the right to make a complaint either. Getting mated is for those who have higher werewolf ranks, betas, alphas, and lunas. Let alone I am well aware that he had a crush on someone else. And I believe it was not me. Truth be told, I like Justine as far as my heart and brain can remember. But because of our awful situation, I chose to hide my one-sided feelings deep into the subconscious. For what it's worth, we keep an eye on each other. Without asking further questions, I jumped out of bed and followed Justine in heading to the commotion. I did not even notice I was running on foot with loose-fitting clothes until I noticed everyone we could pass through locked their gazes at me. "Mama... Papa!" I yell to the werewolf commanders who were dragging them like. "Please, let go of them, please?" I attempted to approach them but Justine pulled me back by force. My parents then burst out crying as soon as they saw me and Justine attempting to approach them. As I expected, none of the werewolf commanders felt sympathy for them. They dragged my parents toward the dungeon where they kept their prisoners without any signs of doubt. "Don't make things more complicated, Danica," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "It was an order of the alpha. We need to talk to him instead of arguing with the commanders." "But you said it yourself, Justine! They are going to throw them into the dungeon. We must help them before that happens." I insisted as I tried to remove his grasp away from me. Sad to say, no matter how hard I try, Justine seems to have no plans of letting me go. Instead, he wrapped two of his hands around me. Tight enough I could barely move. "They're going to arrest you if you make a scene, Danica," he replied, his voice strained with concern. "But they are not going to throw them right away to the dungeon. There was a long process for that to happen. Right now, we must convince the alpha to let them go." To make sure I could not make a scene, Justine dragged me back to the house. He ordered me to stay in my room and plans to talk to the alpha alone as I am in bad shape at the moment. Several thoughts, negative ones, were running wild inside my brain. The thought of my parents getting fed to the lions and crocodiles alive was beyond my imagination. My wolf can't live without my parents even if I know they did something wrong punishable by the law of the werewolves. But caught up through sneaking into someone's house is a light offense if I am not mistaken based on the Alpha's written rules. After a few hours of crying, I mustered the courage to end this commotion once and for all. My wolf must do something before everything gets out of hand. So I went out of the room and planned to follow Justine. The second I pulled the main door open, I was caught by surprise upon seeing two familiar and terrifying figures right through my eyes. Damien Silvia, our alpha pack, and his mate, Lady Divina, were standing outside the house. Both their expressions were commanding and demanding. Two of the werewolf commanders then approached me and ordered me to get back into the house as Alpha Damien and Lady Divina wanted to talk to me in private. Their unexpected appearance means Justine manages to convince them to let go of my parents. But why do they have to talk to me in private? Based on my quick observation outside, around fifty werewolf commanders were surrounding the house. Each of them maintains a few meters away from the fence of the house as though, whatever Alpha Damien and Lady Divina want from me, must be heard by the three of us alone. And if I am not mistaken, all of the werewolf commanders wandering outside are first-rank betas. It means to me that something was up. Something confidential. "We'll get to the chase, omega," Alpha Damien uttered before he dropped a small black pouch on the table across from me. Whatever was inside that pouch produced a thudding sound. "I want you to mate someone on your 18th birthday." "Consider that small pouch our first payment for allowing us to get into your parents' house ." Lady Divina added. "They're gold coins if you're wondering. We heard that your family has debts and bills to pay. Your parents were caught doing something punishable by death. We can pay you a certain amount of gold coins every month and spare your parents' lives, but of course, you have to do what we ask in return with confidentiality." A part of me wanted to reach out to the pouch when the gold coins ticked my desire to solve everything, including my parents' crime. However, while looking at it, several thoughts kept popping out of my confused and helpless brain. If I want to mate someone should be no one else apart from my best friend Justine. My wolf may have come from the lineage of the lowest rank omegas, but that doesn't mean I cannot comprehend what was going on. "His name is Christopher Silvia." Alpha Damien said. But upon hearing the name, I could not help but frown, "He is our son. Hidden one to be precise." The long curve lines on my forehead were even extended, "Hidden one?" I blurted in confusion. As far as my knowledge serves me right, the couple were not gifted with a child. Having no child was also the reason for Alpha Damien's older brothers, Randolph and Lancelot. Rumor has it that the older brothers plan to dethrone him of his title as the pack leader because of that same reason. Everyone in the village knows that they don't have an heir to the pack. And they were both old enough to continue their legacy. "Our son will be the next alpha and the future of the Blood Moon pack," Alpha Damien nodded, "However, we kept his identity hidden because of his condition. He had autism and bipolar disorder." I don't have any idea what those two mean, but my wolf sensed the sadness and urgency in his voice. The tone of his voice ticked my ears and stabbed me with a knife straight into my chest. Justine already taught me how to catch a glimpse of when someone is lying or not. And my instinct just concluded that Alpha Damien was telling me the truth. "Christopher was a year older than you if I am not mistaken." he continued, "We were worried that everyone, including those who want to drag us down, might use our son's condition to their advantage." "Now that you already know we have a son with disabilities, we have to protect that secret." Lady Divina said, "This time, it is not just your parents who might end up dead but you as well if you refuse our offer, omega. So, better think wise." After a few minutes of considering things, Alpha Damien and Lady Divina evacuated the house with heavy hearts. Twenty of the werewolf commanders remained in their spots to keep an eye on me. "Danica, what's going on? Why was your parents' house surrounded by werewolf commanders? Did something while I was gone?" Justine asked the second he stepped foot into the house. Instead of an honest answer, Justine was taken aback when I dropped my trembling knees on the tiled floor and began crying. Expressing my worries and fears through crying was the only thing I could do when Alpha Damien's and Lady Divina's threats of killing me and my parents cut deep down in my heart and mind. "I'm so sorry, Justine," was the least I could say to him.Chapter 2: You're Not a Monster Justine, my best friend, flashes to the rescue. He wraps his arms around me before my butt reaches the tiled floor. "I am supposed to be the one telling you that, Danica. Alpha Damien was not in his place when I got there. I failed you. And I'm so sorry for that. Please, forgive me." We stayed in our spots and positions like our movements were in slow motion. Our eyes met for about ten seconds. Long enough that my wolf managed to sense the sincerity and purity of his voice and stares. The sensation of the scenario was similar to those romantic kdrama movies I watched on screens. Everything stopped ticking apart from the rumbling sounds of our heartbeats combined. Our heartbeats were in a race to reach the finish line. A part of me wanted to tell him everything - the truth to be precise. To seek his piece of advice on what I must do to get the hell out of this kind of impossible situation. Christopher asked twice, his cracking voice a few seconds ago started to get calm. However, I just witnessed his second and third symptoms - his fingers are shivering and repeating his words. His bothered heart and mind were now steady yet his ten fingers were still shivering as though he was having a convulsion. Even his nerve-breaking rage, worries, and fears he possessed earlier had already subsided the moment he realized we were much alike, but not the shivering of his fingers. The shivering, if I am not mistaken, seems to be typical for someone with autism like him. Let alone he was sitting and hiding in a dirty and stinky place. Before I could slip a word about the truth, I turned my head sideways to check if someone was nearby. Then I dragged them both inside the house. "What's going on, Danica?" Justine continued before he reached out to my hand to stop me from gritting my fingernails. "Who is he? Why is he still in his werewolf form?" Bombarding me with his endless questions even put me in a tough position. I am in the middle of deciding whether to let go of Christopher or let him stay in the house. Worst-case scenario. If I were going to let go of Christopher like a free wolf, everyone in the village, including Alpha Damien and Lady Divina, would get furious at me. They don't want anyone to know their son's existence. On the other hand, if I am going to let him stay in our house, my parents are going to kill me either, adding another stomach to feed. But either of the choices, the result remained the same - me getting killed. Or worse, everyone close to me including my parents and Just

As soon as we spotted the source of the sound, our jaws dropped to the ground when we found Mom holding a frying pan while Christopher was lying on the floor unconscious. His mouth was even filled with a loaf of bread. "Mom, what are you doing?" I worriedly asked before I slid to check if Christopher was still alive. Luckily, my heightened sense of hearing heard the sound of his soft heartbeats. "Aren't I supposed to be the one asking you that, huh, Danica? Why did you bring a lone wolf into our house? Are you and Justine out of your minds?" she blurted. My wolf has been with Christopher for a few days but not even once I considered him a lone wolf because he had a pack waiting for him. Needless to say, our future depends on the lone wolf she battered with a frying pan. "Au
