Though death was a long time ago, people who were involved and still involve remain committed to those deaths. The race for power became increasingly difficult but necessary. As one leaf falls, it reveals the entire tree who was holding it all together.

DOWNCASTER, SULLEN GROUNDS
A young man rushed towards the front door, following him was a man in his mid fifties with a visible frown on his face. The old man has been incessantly calling him but it was futile ever since they've left his chamber.
"Master Devonne, sir. Your father strictly instructed us that you will not leave the house without anyone going out with you." The old man strictly told the young man.
"Please, Mr. Mercer! A chaperone? You got to be joking?" The young man exclaimed in disbelief.
He stopped at the bottom of the stairs and stared blankly at the man who has been reprimanding him regarding his current engagements. When the old man started nagging him about his latest activtity, he walked towards the door. Devonne clearly understands his grounds but he has reached a certain age and a chaperone is no longer necessary.
"I understand your sentiments, young man, but you are not just a normal citizen traveling to Paris. Another uninformed engagements towards Paris will no longer be tolerated." The butler said in finality.
"Bloody hell! You are starting to sound like father!" Then he rolled his eyes and held the knob.
He was quite surprised to find a FedEx delivery man standing outside the door. A wide smile instantly formed on his lips. Devonne opened the door enough for the delivery man to enter. The butler who was about to say something raised his eyebrow to their visitor.
"How can I help?" The butler inquired. Devonne put his hands on the delivery man's shoulder which startled the man his age.
"He's with me." Devonne stated.
"Please sign here, sir." The delivery man handed him the papers.
He signed everything and motioned the rest of the team to bring what he packaged. Four people carefully carried a huge portrait. The painting was not visible for it was carried upside down.
"Just put it in the corner. Thank you very much," And he handed them quite amount for a tip which brightened the faces of the FedEx personnel.
"How generous of you." A sarcastic comment from the butler. Devonne chose to ignore him.
He walked towards the portrait placed under the huge canvass. A cloth was covering the beauty it beholds so he snatched it off. Devonne wasn't intrigued about the portrait he bought but by the visible nervous reaction of the butler beside him. The butler stepped back.
"Good lord." Was the only thing he managed to utter.
Catherine and Hector were on the portrait. Proudly standing side by side.
"You know them?" He curiously asked the old man, given the reaction he had as he glimpsed to the huge portrait. The butler managed to get back to his senses and straightened up. He cleared his throat then shook his head. Devonne was not convinced with his uncertain denial."Are you sure? You looked like you're about to faint the moment you saw who those people on the portrait." Devonne started pressing. The butler was back to his poker face. He stared back at the portrait like it was a normal display in the house. It started to spark a curiosity on Devonne's part. Mr. Mercer has this talent of altering his expression as fast as he had showed them."I believe I am not familiar with them." He denied, now with much certainty."Even a slightest recognition?" Devonne was still not dropping it."Yes. Now, I need you to---"He walked out the mom
It's another day for Allison to prepare Devonne about the truth. After her morning rituals, she went to the dining area for breakfast. For some usual reasons, her husband is already occupied with some phone calls at this hour. Devonne was already preparing himself breakfast when she saw him in the dining area. The young man smiled at her. She took a seat in front of her son."You're early!" Allison was surprised to see him this early. There were pancakes and breads on the table. She took some, spread chocolate syrup and took a bite."I forgot to tell you. I'm leaving for Paris. It was supposed to be yesterday but you called." Devonne mumbled while scrolling through his phone."What keeps bringing you back to Paris? Anyways, I'm afraid you need to re
The cool breeze of Paris immediately welcomed Devonne when he stepped out of the train. A victorious smile formed on his lips. He is finally back to the place where he felt most alive. London has been choking him for his entire life and Paris was a good place to escape. He held a cab and headed to his mother's ancestral home. After he told the driver where he is headed, fear unfolded to the driver's face. It's like hearing a forbidden word after a long time."Monsieur, are you sure you are going there?" The driver spoke in his tongue tied English."Yes. I just saw it on the map. I just want to see it in person." He even showed his phone to convince the driver. The driver reluctantly nodded but didn't bother asking further questions. The ride was a bit peculiar for Devonne. He has been receiving weird glances from the driver through the rear view mirror, but he chose to ignore it. He figured that the driver may be scared
The four walls of the house suddenly narrowed as the one person who can share a different story of his mother is in the next room. Devonne patiently waited in the dining area. A middle age woman approached the two teenagers when she entered. The woman is still gorgeous for her age. She smiled to Devonne and offered him to take a seat which he did."You must be Devonne?" She cheerfully questioned. The young man who was completely tongue tied, nodded. He is trying to catch the perfect timing to inquire something about his late mother without being obvious that he knew her."What's your last name?" The lady's curiosity settled in. There's interest in her eyes."It's Duor, ma'am." He remembered his lie to Hazel.A disappointed nod from the intrigued woman. He chose to hide his real identity considering the controversial families he belongs. Another photo captured his attention, it's
Tondo, Manila, PhilippinesIn the lines of the impoverished neighborhood, a lot of families have considered it home for many years, even for their entire life. People raised their own as to what they see fit to their growing environment. Dangerous, but they call it home. As the night grew deeper, mysterious men came. Five cars stopped at a particular street. Their dark auras came with a dark purpose. The drunkards near a retail store went eerily quiet noticing the odd gentlemen sweeping the area, checking every house. The hunt is a bit challenging. Given the financial standing of most inhabitants, the houses were inconveniently identical. Men grew impatient as people begin to notice their intentions.Looking out of the window, having the only entertainment they can afford, a young man watch over the streets. Paris, France"Grandpa!" Francesca shouted in the middle of their tea. Devonne glanced at his back. An intimidating old man was standing proudly while looking at them."Francesca!" The man answered after he managed to shoot Devonne a curious stare."I want you to meet my friend," And dragged her old man to join them.Devonne instantly stood, giving courtesy to his host. The old man appreciated the gesture. An impeccable upbringing. Devonne offered his hand."Devonne, sir. A pleasure to meet you." He said in his posh British accent. The old man's forehead crest in curiosity. The young man has a familiar resemblance. A person from a distant past he can't seems to point."Devonne?" He inquired more."Grandpa!" Francesca quickly intervened noticing the indulging tone but he shot her a warning look. Devonn
Luthor Hubert is enjoying himself with the new fortress he is living in. He roamed around the huge mansion. From his own room upstairs down to the elegant drawing room of the house. Engrossed in the expensive features and the intimidating pictures of his ancestors on the wall, he didn't notice a pair of eyes glaring at him from the door. Two fierce eyes. Eyes that haunted every maid working inside the big mansion. From his hostile aura came utter confusion. Then interest. The boy standing inside the drawing room has a very striking resemblance. Intrigue as he is, he glanced at the portrait that pictures the boy."You must be?" A deep voice took the boy away from his reverie.Though the offense in the eyes of his captor is gone, Luthor was in fright. He took some fearful steps backward. The scary visitor was impressed when the boy did not break eye contact."I am asking you a question." There was firm

Then the huge metal door of the ballroom flew open. Unleashing the ghost-like figure of a woman. Face covered with a black veil, Aberdeen walked down the aisle. She was expected to give her closing speech for her mother's funeral. Everyone in the room glanced at the woman in despair. Slowly walking like death fetching the soul of Nathalia lying peacefully at the end of the aisle.Nathalia's casket was glamorous. Made of pure gold, carved with pure silver angels around it. Covered with expensive flowers from distinguished guests. People came to confirm the death of a powerful woman. Many were afraid. Two powerful families joined together in a union of the eldest son of Samira and the only granddaughter of Iñigo Constantine. Each block, establishment, and even bar were extremely checked for a security threat.Amidst the grand celebration, a forgotten romance stared from afar. Hazel wiped her tears. Almost two decades ago, society was held in the palms of the few. Few people who in one way or another destroyed each other.
