REGINA

At first, it felt like a dream, but then it was happening right before my eyes.

Something is wrong. I heard Ruby whisper from within me. The driver of the bus had gotten down earlier and was discussing something with the tour guide and the only people in the bus with me were the old man and woman so when the bus started shaking, I immediately knew it was not the driver that was trying to start it or something. In fact, it was looking much like a prank the first time.

We need to get down. I heard Ruby again. We need to get down now!

The bus groaned just then and slid off the hill; it’s one of it’s rear tires already scraping off the edge until it leaned in, ready to capside down the hill.

“Run!” I yelled.

There were screams and chaos, and once chaos came, there was nothing but disorganization among everyone. The old man and woman shook with fear as they ran for the entrance of the door, where the driver and tour guide w

REGINA Gwen and I continued on the call. Of course, I could already imagine my father’s reaction if he came to the knowledge that I had almost slipped down a hill. It was over for the entire honeymoon. “Cause you know he’d worry so much, right? He may even want you back instantly.” Gwen asked now just after I warned her about telling my father. “Exactly!” “Then just take advantage of that event and end the goddamned honeymoon, dear.” She mentioned. “Sir Leonard just needs to see that what has happened was terrible and you’d use it as leverage as to why you think you want to call it off. That way, it won’t hurt him at all.” That was a brilliant idea, if, of course, I wanted to leave the Maldives. As a matter of fact, I think my purpose here had just begun. My goals are too close for me to turn back now. Not when Ray could be the answer I’ve been looking for.

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    Are You Growing Feelings?

LIONEL Regina had not been the only one hurt. The goal of trying to save her from the spinning bus had taken more energy than was required of me to give off at any given point. Plus, even before I passed out, just as the ambulance arrived and injected me with sedatives, I could see the confusion on the people’s faces and the wonder written all over it. I could almost read the questions their minds were asking. Did a man just slow a car right before our eyes by pulling it while sliding? Did he just hop like a beast over the bus and cling to the mountain alongside the woman? Did he just do all these and was still wide awake? To reduce their suspicions and questions, I had to act even more drained than I actually was and then the medics finished up the work. I awoke in something that would have passed for a hospital but it was just some mini-clinic attached to the hotel where I was lodged. I had asked

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    A Fair Comeback

REGINA I think I was done with Lionel and his antics. He could go to hell for all I cared. Just when I thought Lionel, for the first time in his life, had done something that could be considered human in my life, he turned out to be just a piece of shit, much like I had expected. Why did he have to be the one to save me? Now I was very much indebted to him and he had just stylishly made that clear before me. Things were going to get worse from here. What the hell was I supposed to do now to get myself out of this new burden? As far as I was concerned, it was beginning to look like it would have been better if Lionel had just left me to die in the bus. That was much preferable to having to be indebted to the ruthless alpha, apart from the fact that I was already tied to him. Nothing was making sense. Why did this accident have to take place? I needed to speak to Gwen! I called

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    Moments of Anger

LIONEL I was yet to leave the driver back in the clinic when he asked the question that aroused my curiosity. “The lady is your wife? I’ve not seen her since the accident. I’m still checking around the clinic. I couldn’t have known she was your wife. You both were not…” Yeah, yeah, yeah... I knew what was running through his mind. My own wife basically spent the whole time discussing with another man while I stayed in that same bus, acting like she didn’t even exist until she almost died. “I know, she’s my wife, though.” I replied. There was a way the driver kept staring at me, like he was mesmerised by the mere appearance of me. “And your wife, do you think she’ll be okay enough for a trip tomorrow?” He was suspicious of us and I could see it. Not like he was already thinking we were werewolves or something. More like he was trying to understand us, particularly to see just wh

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    A Mysterious Night

LIONEL I was still embracing the stillness of the night with just a couple out on the beach when I noticed a familiar silhouette of a woman walking through the dark. The man beside her was also strikingly familiar. I had seen just the same two silhouettes last night. “Is that…” I murmured to myself. Regina and Ray? Yes. I heard Lucius affirm within me. I wasn’t imagining this. Regina was out with the same man I had threatened just some hours ago? The same man that had stopped me from preventing the accident that took place? And after everything, here he was, gliding through the night with my wife. This was beginning to look like something else. Was Regina cheating on me with Ray? I gritted my teeth, trying to control the anger but I couldn’t. I instantly dove straight into the room and headed for the door. Where are you going? Lucius asked. “I need to teach that piece of shit

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    The Trip Without Regina

LIONEL I joined the bus as I met the driver. “Hey, good morning.” The driver greeted me in the most absurdly friendly manner ever. “Good morning,” I replied. “Looks like you’d be joining us today.” He mentioned. I got into the bus now and took my usual position at the back. There were new faces of tourists in the new bus. In fact, I recognized none. And Regina was not present. Neither was Ray. Where the fuck were they? “Yes, I’d be joining you.” I replied. “That means your wife’s all good?” I scanned again for Regina. She truly wasn’t in the goddamned bus. “Yeah.” I replied. “Wait, she’s not here yet. I assume she’s yet to come.” “I guess she’s joined another rider.” “Another rider?” “Yeah, there was a bus that came earlier for tourists that wanted to start their journey much earlier today.” He repl

LIONEL The suspense was killing me. I couldn’t get my mind wrapped around what Regina could have been doing to not be present in neither the hotel nor the bus. Had she gone back? No, she hadn’t. If she had, at least the girls would have seen her. They sounded honest enough. They had not set eyes on neither the woman nor Ray. Ray! The name sent pangs of anger firing through my head. What had they both been up to? Now, this was beginning to look scary. After all, she just met the guy. What if Ray had done something terrible to Regina? What if Ray had... You need to remain calm. I heard Lucius instruct from within me. Regina could be in trouble. I replied within my thoughts. No, Lionel. Look at it more clearly. After all, Regina never loved you, and she knew very well that you didn’t love her. This could just be her plot to make you panic. Lucius re

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    What Happened With Regina

REGINA I was alive, I was safe, and I was just wondering whether Lionel was even thinking about me. It began with the night of the accident when the car had slid down the hill and Lionel had come just in time to rescue me. That same night, I had struck a new deal with him and saved myself from having to be blackmailed each time I set my eyes upon him—I was not going to bother Grandpa with news of the accident and he was not going to ever bring it up as me being indebted to him. It had gone perfectly well with him in his room, and at this point, all I wanted to do was return to my room and allow myself to fall deeply asleep. It was just after I had a shower that I got a knock. The first idea I had was that Lionel was back again with something to rule out my little threat against him. On the contrary, it was my good new friend. It was Ray. “Hey, Ray.” I made to shake him as I extended my hand to him. He shrugg

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    Where I Belong

REGINA I made my way to Marcy’s room shortly after seeing Lionel. She looked so small lying there, her face pale but serene. Her hands rested on her swollen belly protectively, even in her sleep. My heart clenched at the sight of her. The sister I had thought I’d lost forever was here again, and despite everything we had endured, there was hope. Then I thought of the tragedy that had befallen her—of Silas and everything else. Victor had indeed taken more than we could imagine. “Marcy,” I whispered as I approached her bed. Her eyes fluttered open, groggy but quickly filling with recognition. “Regina?” she murmured, her voice hoarse. I nodded, tears already welling up. “It’s me.” She eased into a smile. “I just knew you could do it. I just knew you could. You’ve always been just too strong.” I laughed as I planted a kiss on her forehead. “How’s the b

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel     A New Dawn

LIONEL The first thing I noticed was the sterile smell of antiseptic. My body felt heavy, but the softness of the hospital bed was comforting. Slowly, I blinked my eyes open. Regina’s face came into focus. Her hair was slightly disheveled, dark circles shadowed her eyes, but she was the most beautiful sight I’d ever seen. Her hand rested on mine, her touch grounding me. “Lionel,” she whispered, her voice filled with relief and tenderness. Tears welled up in her eyes as she leaned closer. “You’re awake.” I managed a weak smile. “Hey…” Before I could say more, Grandpa appeared by her side, his face a mixture of concern and relief. Ryker and Gwen were there too, their expressions lighter than I’d seen in days. “You gave us quite the scare, kid,” Grandpa said, his gruff tone unable to mask the emotion in his voice. “Victor?” I rasped, the memories of the fight f

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    Showdown

REGINA “No,” I whispered, cradling Lionel closer. His breathing was shallow, his usually vibrant eyes clouded with pain. Victor stood a few paces away, lowering his weapon with a chilling casualness. “You should've just cooperated with the plan, Regina.” He chuckled disdainfully. “You and that pathetic excuse of an alpha.” “Don’t you dare!” Marcy’s voice cut through the tension, and I turned just in time to see her charging at Victor. “Marcy, no!” I screamed, but it was too late. Victor swatted her away like she was nothing, sending her flying into the side of the truck. She hit the metal with a sickening thud, collapsing in a heap. My mouth dropped open, my scream coming uncontrollably. “Stay down, girl,” Victor sneered, turning his attention back to me. I froze, my arms tightening protectively around Lionel. Every instinct screamed at me to fight, but my b

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    Let’s End This

REGINA I and Marcy had been together in the room, waiting, when we heard the sounds of the war going on outside the building. Lionel was here. At first, a feeling of joy and assurance rushed to me, but almost immediately, a certain panic rushed through me when we had waited for quite long enough and Lionel was yet to show up. “Are you sure he’s still okay?” Marcy asked, the fear in her voice evident. “He is okay.” I replied with all certainty. “Nothing could happen to Lionel!” Then the men suddenly stormed in, barking orders. Marcy and I rose hastily and followed the men down the corridors, all the way to the back of the warehouse. Soon, we were out in the dark and there was nothing but the dim lights of the moon to guide us through. I could still hear the faint buzz of war on the other far end of the building. Axel led the group of Victor’s men, his expression unreadable, but

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    Final Confrontation

LIONEL His taunting words drove me mad, but I refused to give him the satisfaction of seeing me fall apart. I clenched my jaw, focusing on my breathing as I adjusted my stance, preparing for the next round. But Victor wasn’t done. He was playing with me, like a predator toying with its prey. He danced just out of reach, circling me, his every movement calculated, precise. “You know, Lionel,” he began. “I’ve always admired your strength. But strength doesn’t mean anything when it’s built on lies. Your so-called ‘perfect love’ with Regina? It’s a joke. You’re both weak, just like your parents were. Too sentimental. Too tied down by your pathetic little bond.” His words struck harder than any blow he could throw, reminding me of all the mistakes I’d made, of all the things I’d failed to protect. The past kept clawing at me, refusing to let go. I roared in fury, charging toward him once more, but this time, I cou

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    Ambush

LIONEL All I needed was a location and just that, Arturo had provided. Another site, another holding of Victor’s. Even if it meant going to a hundred locations this same night, as long as I was not dead, I was going to set my eyes on Regina and there was nothing that could be done to change that. As we drew closer to the warehouse where Regina was supposedly held, we knew better than to just storm our way in. We needed to maintain a low profile. The warehouse loomed ahead, its corrugated metal walls dull and rusted under the dim glow of the moonlight. A faint chill ran down my spine as I scanned the perimeter. This was the place. I could feel it in my gut. Regina was inside, and I wasn’t leaving without her. Ryker crouched beside me, his face set in grim determination. Arturo and his men from the Eric Circle pack fanned out behind us, their movements silent and purposeful. Each of them carried

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    Marcy’s Story

REGINA “You already know how it started,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “I refused to marry Lionel. I couldn’t. Not when my heart belonged to Silas.” I nodded, memories of that time flashing through my mind. Marcy had always been the rebellious one, the sister who defied tradition and sought her own path. “When I ran away with Silas, we thought we’d left everything behind,” she continued, her voice growing steadier. “We crossed borders, traveling from pack to pack, always looking over our shoulders. But eventually, we found a place where we could be safe, a small pack in a distant country. It was nothing like home, but it was ours. We built a life there, Regina. A happy life.” Her lips quivered, and I could see the love she still held for Silas shining in her eyes, even through her grief. “We planned to come back one day,” she said, her voice cracking. “To face

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    Sister Sister

REGINA I awoke slowly. “Regina?” The voice echoed in my head, but the familiarity could not be mistaken. I knew I was captured again; alone, with no one to protect me, my heart aching in ways I couldn't even put into words. This time, not just for my own mistakes, but for my sister’s life as well. “Marcy…” I cried quietly. How? I lay on the cold, unforgiving floor of the dimly lit room, the rough stone scraping against my skin. The chains around my wrists felt heavier than ever, and my heart felt heavier still. It wasn’t just the physical pain that gnawed at me—it was the emotional torment of seeing my sister’s frightened eyes, the same eyes I remembered from our childhood, filled with so much terror. "Regina?" Marcy’s voice broke through the silence. Her voice was hoarse, trembling, as though she too couldn’t find the words to express th

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    The Art of Escaping

REGINA I could feel the cold metal of the handcuffs biting into my skin as the car jolted over uneven terrain. Victor’s grip on my life—on everything I cared about—was suffocating, his constant presence a reminder of just how trapped I truly was. Axel was beside me, silent, but I could feel his gaze flicking over me like a hawk, calculating and waiting for any sign of weakness. But I wasn’t about to give him the satisfaction of seeing me break. Victor had been playing a game with Lionel. Each move designed to frustrate, each location a new dead end. I could tell it was wearing on him. His anger had become more pronounced, his impatience clearer. But it wasn’t just about the hunt anymore—it was about power, and I was the key to it all. The car slowed as we turned onto a dirt road, the thud of the tires against the gravel echoing in the small space. The lights outside flickered and then dimmed. I didn’t know where we were going this time,
