LIONEL

If I was going to get married, I needed to have a clear head, whether I was down for the marriage or not. That’s why I did take the rest as necessary.

I and Ryker left the hospital the next day by dawn. It was a cold morning.

Grandpa was being the best and somehow, his presence was more noticeable than what it used to be. He was around all the time, catering to both I and Ryker. I wasn’t sure how things would have looked like without him.

The wedding was tomorrow and the activities in the house had tripled. I could already picture what it would be like tomorrow night and the goddess up there knew I anticipated none of it. Sometimes, I wondered what Regina would be thinking… What was she up to?

The last time I had seen her, she had got that creepy piece of paper from a delivery guy. I had gotten nothing about the letter, thanks to Frankenstein who had done such great job at coming in the way just in time.

LIONEL Our alpha-beta time together was almost looking like a funeral gathering already. Ryker followed me quietly as we strolled into the woods, not saying a word but looking upon the ground with his head bowed and a slight frown on his face.I had been telling him something about a myth I had read up when I realized he wasn’t truly listening to me.“Hey?” I called out his attention. “Are you even listening to me?”He steered back just then. “I am.” He replied uncertainly. “What did you say?”“Is there something we should talk about?”I could see the uneasy switch in his expression just then and knew that indeed, there was something to talk about.“Had you listened to I and Gwen’s conversation?”I was very bad at pretending. He must have had his suspicions from the moment he returned to the sitting room.“Yes.” I replied. His shoulder slumped tiredly. “Look… you both were simply talking okay? It’s not

LIONEL “Here comes the groom – Lionel Williams of the Silver Moon pack.” Was that necessary? I growled within me as my eyes scanned the area. Everything seemed so in place. The guests were already going by and by, through one another, exchanging pleasantries. It was as if the whole world had come together under my roof. Did Grandpa really have these many people to invite? On hearing the announcement, they all paused now and turned towards me raising their glasses holding all types of drinks. “To the groom!” One of the people in the audience announced. He was a familiar face, but I couldn’t quite place it. I wasn’t thinking straight enough to place it. “To the groom!” They all chorused as they drank. What the hell was I supposed to do? I could still feel the many eyes on me like they were anticipating I’d say or do something. I felt Ryker nudge me from behind. “Just appreciate them…” The whisper came in a

REGINA“Richie?” I gasped. He stood surprised for a while and then, in the most psychotic manner, he dropped his arms weakly and sighed heavily.“You’ve just complicated everything, Regina. This shouldn’t be the plan, you know that, right? You are not supposed to see my face.”“Well, then I’ve seen your face now what? What the hell is this? Why are you doing this?”I and Richie had no actual business apart from the fact that he was just some regular street guy that always tried to bully me and Marcy every now and then, especially when we were younger. No wonder he was able to convince me Marcy had written the letter that led me straight here.“Now that you’ve seen my face, I’m going to have to make you forget you ever saw me in some way.” He replied.“I don’t understand.” I honestly didn’t. “Some way like what? What are you going to do, Richie?”“We’d think about that later.”“Richie, you have to let me go! What the hell is the motive behind this goddamn stress? Let me go! You do know

LIONEL“I’m not exactly sure of what you’re talking about, Arturo.” I already had an idea of what he was referring to. I only needed confirmation that it wasn’t what I was thinking. “Oh, I’m sorry about that. Let me clarify.” The mere way he spoke was already getting on my nerves. “The night before the day Damian was found dead, he had gotten a call from a guy threatening him to turn off an actress when she came for an interview the next day. It was like the caller knew the lady in question was going to come to meet him and for some reason, he wanted Damian to send her packing.”“And had he done that?”“The caller was you.” He rushed in without answering the question. There was no time for the stress of denying it all. I had a lot to think about tonight. “Of course. We did have that conversation. What I don’t understand, though, is why it’s coming up now.” I replied even though I knew the answer to that as well. “It’s only strange that you threaten him and then, boom… He’s gone.”“

LIONEL “Look, Ryker, I know you don’t have the right to believe me after all the entanglement I’ve had with Regina Donovan in the worst ways but I wouldn’t do this. You should know me more than this. I wouldn’t do anything to Regina at the last minute and hurt you and Grandpa so badly. If I wanted to harm Regina in any way, I would have a long time ago.”Ryker kept staring at me. I could see a flicker of doubt on his face, smoothly merged with the strong urge to want to believe me. “It’s actually so hard convincing anybody now. The tension is slowly rising. Grandpa would be pissed.”I shrugged. I was already tired of proving what wasn’t meant to be so difficult to prove. “I don’t have anything to do with Regina not being here right now. If you don’t believe that, fine!”I made my way out of the room, choosing the boring party over an argument that could stir up between me and Ryker. The guests were huddled in groups, some clearly distra

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    One Time Escape

REGINA Time was passing, and I knew it was hopeless. They weren’t going to leave me alone. That night, I started working on ways to escape. From what I had seen in the movies and as an actress myself, I knew these kidnapping plans always had their loopholes. I found this one’s loophole just when I looked closely enough. The pole. Ruby whispered to me. “Exactly, the pole!” I replied. Though it was firmly rooted to the ground, it was shaky up above, and with constant pressure, I could break it out from above after several hours. I began that same night, nudging it over and over and watching it slide through bit by bit even though it wasn’t appearing to be making any much difference. I urged myself to keep going. By morning, I could see a clear difference in how loose the pole was becoming. At that point, I knew well that I could do it. Today was the day of my marriage and I had to be home before the blood moon rose tonight. I hadn't sl

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    The Suspects Are Here

LIONEL If I could make Regina Donovan disappear from the face of the earth, I would have gladly done that. But this was beginning to get on my nerves and I was starting to find it very strange. What her father had said had been true whether I wanted to believe it or not. The last time I had convinced Regina to run off, she had said just the same thing. She couldn’t do what Marcy did because she wanted to fulfill her obligations to her pack and her pack wouldn’t have to suffer for her actions. She was clearly willing to be the sacrifice for the pack before she left my sight that day. Had she changed her mind at the last minute and taken off? Even after such a strong resort? No… if she had run off, I have the feeling her father would have known; the same way he knew Marcy had run off. There would have been signs of an escapade everywhere. Her clothes and other essentials would be packed and Alpha Donovan would have not needed to come in here, trying to at

LIONELMy head was spinning wildly. That was true—Frankenstein was with me for a good while, but he could still have planned to help Regina. He may have done that with the help of someone else. Anyway, chances that it was him were now slim for me. He was weak and all shaken that day, and besides, if indeed her disappearance had to do with the letter she got, then it couldn’t have been Frankenstein because he was busily collapsing from poisoning in my office. Gosh, I wanted to hydrate, shapeshift into my wolf form and get the hell out of all this. What was the solution to this riddle? “It doesn’t mean you couldn’t have still been involved.” I replied. “It only makes chances slim.” My key suspect was still Arturo and now, Frankenstein was on the list but somewhere minor. My eyes trailed on someone else now…“If I wanted to help Regina, sir, I…” I couldn’t even hear what Frankenstein was saying. My entire thoughts rang as I watc

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    Where I Belong

REGINA I made my way to Marcy’s room shortly after seeing Lionel. She looked so small lying there, her face pale but serene. Her hands rested on her swollen belly protectively, even in her sleep. My heart clenched at the sight of her. The sister I had thought I’d lost forever was here again, and despite everything we had endured, there was hope. Then I thought of the tragedy that had befallen her—of Silas and everything else. Victor had indeed taken more than we could imagine. “Marcy,” I whispered as I approached her bed. Her eyes fluttered open, groggy but quickly filling with recognition. “Regina?” she murmured, her voice hoarse. I nodded, tears already welling up. “It’s me.” She eased into a smile. “I just knew you could do it. I just knew you could. You’ve always been just too strong.” I laughed as I planted a kiss on her forehead. “How’s the b

LIONEL The first thing I noticed was the sterile smell of antiseptic. My body felt heavy, but the softness of the hospital bed was comforting. Slowly, I blinked my eyes open. Regina’s face came into focus. Her hair was slightly disheveled, dark circles shadowed her eyes, but she was the most beautiful sight I’d ever seen. Her hand rested on mine, her touch grounding me. “Lionel,” she whispered, her voice filled with relief and tenderness. Tears welled up in her eyes as she leaned closer. “You’re awake.” I managed a weak smile. “Hey…” Before I could say more, Grandpa appeared by her side, his face a mixture of concern and relief. Ryker and Gwen were there too, their expressions lighter than I’d seen in days. “You gave us quite the scare, kid,” Grandpa said, his gruff tone unable to mask the emotion in his voice. “Victor?” I rasped, the memories of the fight f

REGINA “No,” I whispered, cradling Lionel closer. His breathing was shallow, his usually vibrant eyes clouded with pain. Victor stood a few paces away, lowering his weapon with a chilling casualness. “You should've just cooperated with the plan, Regina.” He chuckled disdainfully. “You and that pathetic excuse of an alpha.” “Don’t you dare!” Marcy’s voice cut through the tension, and I turned just in time to see her charging at Victor. “Marcy, no!” I screamed, but it was too late. Victor swatted her away like she was nothing, sending her flying into the side of the truck. She hit the metal with a sickening thud, collapsing in a heap. My mouth dropped open, my scream coming uncontrollably. “Stay down, girl,” Victor sneered, turning his attention back to me. I froze, my arms tightening protectively around Lionel. Every instinct screamed at me to fight, but my b

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    Let’s End This

REGINA I and Marcy had been together in the room, waiting, when we heard the sounds of the war going on outside the building. Lionel was here. At first, a feeling of joy and assurance rushed to me, but almost immediately, a certain panic rushed through me when we had waited for quite long enough and Lionel was yet to show up. “Are you sure he’s still okay?” Marcy asked, the fear in her voice evident. “He is okay.” I replied with all certainty. “Nothing could happen to Lionel!” Then the men suddenly stormed in, barking orders. Marcy and I rose hastily and followed the men down the corridors, all the way to the back of the warehouse. Soon, we were out in the dark and there was nothing but the dim lights of the moon to guide us through. I could still hear the faint buzz of war on the other far end of the building. Axel led the group of Victor’s men, his expression unreadable, but

LIONEL His taunting words drove me mad, but I refused to give him the satisfaction of seeing me fall apart. I clenched my jaw, focusing on my breathing as I adjusted my stance, preparing for the next round. But Victor wasn’t done. He was playing with me, like a predator toying with its prey. He danced just out of reach, circling me, his every movement calculated, precise. “You know, Lionel,” he began. “I’ve always admired your strength. But strength doesn’t mean anything when it’s built on lies. Your so-called ‘perfect love’ with Regina? It’s a joke. You’re both weak, just like your parents were. Too sentimental. Too tied down by your pathetic little bond.” His words struck harder than any blow he could throw, reminding me of all the mistakes I’d made, of all the things I’d failed to protect. The past kept clawing at me, refusing to let go. I roared in fury, charging toward him once more, but this time, I cou

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    Ambush

LIONEL All I needed was a location and just that, Arturo had provided. Another site, another holding of Victor’s. Even if it meant going to a hundred locations this same night, as long as I was not dead, I was going to set my eyes on Regina and there was nothing that could be done to change that. As we drew closer to the warehouse where Regina was supposedly held, we knew better than to just storm our way in. We needed to maintain a low profile. The warehouse loomed ahead, its corrugated metal walls dull and rusted under the dim glow of the moonlight. A faint chill ran down my spine as I scanned the perimeter. This was the place. I could feel it in my gut. Regina was inside, and I wasn’t leaving without her. Ryker crouched beside me, his face set in grim determination. Arturo and his men from the Eric Circle pack fanned out behind us, their movements silent and purposeful. Each of them carried

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    Marcy’s Story

REGINA “You already know how it started,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “I refused to marry Lionel. I couldn’t. Not when my heart belonged to Silas.” I nodded, memories of that time flashing through my mind. Marcy had always been the rebellious one, the sister who defied tradition and sought her own path. “When I ran away with Silas, we thought we’d left everything behind,” she continued, her voice growing steadier. “We crossed borders, traveling from pack to pack, always looking over our shoulders. But eventually, we found a place where we could be safe, a small pack in a distant country. It was nothing like home, but it was ours. We built a life there, Regina. A happy life.” Her lips quivered, and I could see the love she still held for Silas shining in her eyes, even through her grief. “We planned to come back one day,” she said, her voice cracking. “To face

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    Sister Sister

REGINA I awoke slowly. “Regina?” The voice echoed in my head, but the familiarity could not be mistaken. I knew I was captured again; alone, with no one to protect me, my heart aching in ways I couldn't even put into words. This time, not just for my own mistakes, but for my sister’s life as well. “Marcy…” I cried quietly. How? I lay on the cold, unforgiving floor of the dimly lit room, the rough stone scraping against my skin. The chains around my wrists felt heavier than ever, and my heart felt heavier still. It wasn’t just the physical pain that gnawed at me—it was the emotional torment of seeing my sister’s frightened eyes, the same eyes I remembered from our childhood, filled with so much terror. "Regina?" Marcy’s voice broke through the silence. Her voice was hoarse, trembling, as though she too couldn’t find the words to express th

  • Loving the Cold-Hearted Alpha Lionel    The Art of Escaping

REGINA I could feel the cold metal of the handcuffs biting into my skin as the car jolted over uneven terrain. Victor’s grip on my life—on everything I cared about—was suffocating, his constant presence a reminder of just how trapped I truly was. Axel was beside me, silent, but I could feel his gaze flicking over me like a hawk, calculating and waiting for any sign of weakness. But I wasn’t about to give him the satisfaction of seeing me break. Victor had been playing a game with Lionel. Each move designed to frustrate, each location a new dead end. I could tell it was wearing on him. His anger had become more pronounced, his impatience clearer. But it wasn’t just about the hunt anymore—it was about power, and I was the key to it all. The car slowed as we turned onto a dirt road, the thud of the tires against the gravel echoing in the small space. The lights outside flickered and then dimmed. I didn’t know where we were going this time,
